Megziflips:
Actually not exactly the case. With regards to the fall (September) term, January is usually early admissions for those (special strong) applicants that they definitely want to get, and usually those that had contact with a faculty prior and the faculty had strong interest in the student - and usually a very small percentage of admitted applicants.

In general, the bulk of the responses is sent out between February and April (in some cases could be later). Students with top profiles usually get response first in February, along with reject decisions for the "really bad" applicants that they are definitely not gonna accept for not meeting some metrics (for example if your GPA, TOEFL or GRE is way below cutoff, or your profile clearly shows that you have no reason to be applying to said program) - if you start your SOP with "I fucking hate [insert school's name here]" you'd likely be in this group.

At this point the applicants left ifln the pile are "considerable" applicants. That is, your profile isn't extremely better in comparison to other applicants, and your profile isn't so bad that they'd definitely reject you (you meet all initial cutoffs).

Admission decisions at this point will be allocated based on availability of slots and comparison to other applicants on the pile. If the slots are filled, you will be waitlisted, with the assumption that someone occupying one of the slots might reject their offer. In the event that someone does, they then give consideration to the waitlisted applicants.

This process is rather holistic and not as straight forward as one might assume. The idea of a strong applicant is rather subjective, for example, in escaping the waitlisted pile your area of interest is of great significance. If your area of interest is A, and the person who rejected his offer is in the area B, even if you had significantly better grades/scores, the next best applicant with similar interest in B will likely be selected over you.

Disclaimer:
This response is written based on my observation of Science and Engineering programs. Might be very subjective and may vary a bit. It also strictly applies to just fall (September) applicants.
Nice Observation, bt if you check thegradcafe, pple have already been offered admission for FALL TERM, which is contrary to ur obeservation..

However, I believe God will favour us all, me too am stil very hopeful..

I applied for MSc thesis biochemistry at UBC and I haven't heard from them. I guess the applications are still under review so let's stay patient.
If u check gradcafe u will notice that admission offers have already bin given out in January. From my findings from previous applicants, I was told the admissions appen in january, and other applicant will only be offered admission, if the people offerred admission already reject the offer and this process will continue till end of April. So dear frnds, if u are yet to get an admission offer and UBC is ur only choice, u might have to start applying to other schs.

However, We can stil all trust God dt some pple will reject their offer and we will b admitted...

Good mrng great nairalander.
Applied for my TRV 14th Nov and got refused. Studeied computer science and my proposed study is software engineering a diploma program. The Reason for refusal was - others YOUR PROPOSED STUDIES ARE NOT RESONABLE IN LIGHT OF ONE OR MORE OF : YOUR QUALIFICATION , PREVIOUS STUDIES, EMPLOYMENT LEVEL OF ESTABLISHMENT , OR YOUR FUTURE PROSPECTS OR PLANS). Seems this reason is very common as i hv seen ppl with this reason of refusal online. Pls i need the guru to kindly guide me on the next step to go.. tanx
Did you include a statement of purpose in your application, if yes?? Did u explain to them that Software Engineering is a branch of Computer Science?? If yes, then maybe they want you to apply for Masters instead. Because both ur Previous qualification and your aspired degree are in the same field of study, so I dont see the point for their refusal...

A Masters might b the answer..

I stand to be corrected on this by other members of this thread but I believe it is imperative you attach those important docs (transcript, cv and possibly statement of result and publication)

Yes the email should be brief, precise but should also be detailed (that is why no space for informal greetings)
If the supervisor is interested in you after reading the email then how does he assess your academic prowess without your transcript? I believe those docs can be attached in the first email.

However there is no stringent rule for obtaining a supervisor, we can only advice based on our personal experience and that of other people.

Just put in your best, rejections might come but never give up. All the best.

"Open to other members for their two cent support or constructive criticism".
You are right bro/sis, but some sch specifically give a format for you to use when contacting supervisor and will tell u not to add any attachments for ur first mail, in that case i tink it will b wise to follow deir instruction..

How long is that going to be?
I think the money can stil reflect in your next application, infact it will erase all suspicion, but dts only if you are yet to remove it, but if you have remove that 4m den it must not reflect in ur next app, as he has rightly said.

And if u have removed it, den start counting 6months from now...

As you have rightly answered your question I will just reiterate it for you, while your unofficial/student transcript is okay in some schools for CONDITIONAL acceptance UBC has rightly informed you that no admission decision will be taken without your official copy, therefore to get admission, your official transcript has to be given
It depends on the program u are applying for, be sure such rules exist in you department before u start sending transcript...

What about computing science in that SFU do they also require you to get a supervisior?
I hope dis my response does nt offend anyone's intention

Anywaiz bro, if u are going for Masters in Com Sci, I tink u v alot of schs u can work into easily. Please check this schools below and start processing your admission asap

Memorial University
Manitoba University
University of Victoria
University of Newbrunswick
Ontario University Institute of Technology

and many more, the list is endless, bcus over 70% of canadia schs have com sci and the application process is straightforward...

If your CGPA is not very high, your best choices might be...
Memorial University
Ontario University Institute of Texhnology

If you want full funding tru thesis based and you wont like to contact a supervisor or submit Ielts score..then your best shot is

University of Western Ontario, note u must have good CGPA...

If you have an Ielts score but want a school you wont have to contact supervisor fir thesis based. Then go for
University of Saskatchewan

However, if you want to go for coursebased Masters, you dont have to contact a supervisor and you can apply to all the schools listed above except University of Saskatchewan

The application process for all this schs and many more is very easy and you really need no help, but if u are stuck you can always come back here..Best of luck

Hello Guy
I had my first degree in Mech Eng , Nigeria, and masters in Europe in 2006 in Mech Eng and worked in UK till 2010 when I returned to Nigeria
I have applied for Canada Entry Visa but got refused on the ground of Purpose of Visit
Asset and Finance.
Had my brother as Sponsor
Closing Baalnce 5m
Personal bal 800k
Age 42
My Admission is PGD and I didn't indicate that I had masters before.
I order my GCM,From GCM, they were talking about brother fund is small, personal fund small, my proposed study program not inline with my previous study Mec Eng(Undergraduate study). They also said in the gcm that I haven't had study abroad, and return to show that i will really come back after studies
I am applying for masters in Mech Eng to reapply in 2017.
Friends are advising my to put in my old rich passport and indicate my previous study even though i didn't put it in previous application.
Pls gurus in the house advise a brother, will I be barned if I put in new information, wouldn't they see it as hiding of vital information and barn me for 5 years
Thanks for your anticipated replies
Cheers
I tink showing your old passport wont really be of any positive help tho...

I guess you are married, present your marriage certicate and children birth certificate or any assest in Nigeria or get a letter from a possible future employer.

You might need to get a new sponsor or ensures that your sponsor increases his inflow, outflow and most importantly balance

Most important, apply for a course that is directly related to your previous studies or work experience.

I strongly believe if you can effectively do all this u sud get ur trv..
