Nairaland / General / Learn To Keep That Which You Have by elosonservices(m): 1:03pm On Sep 25, 2015
Been able to keep that which we have is much more important than having them in the first place. Many people most especially in Nigeria are after acquiring more and more property on daily bases without managing the ones they have. Many are after buying more cars, clothes, wrist watch without managing the ones they have. I visited a friend this week the kind of the expensive property and the numbers I saw is too much and I told him my man I think you are spending more on acquiring properties what are you doing with them he said for fun and popularity sake when he said that a word came to me and I told him all these things are vanity and if you are no more these things will be sold cheaper than they were bought I think you should try sell some of these things and invest them in building a company that at least will benefit the society and you in the long run, he told me he will think about it.

I think is high time we look at some of these issues and find a lasting read more www.elosonservices.com/learn-to-keep-that-which-you-have/

Business / Combating Substandard Product In Nigeria In Four Ways by elosonservices(m): 4:49pm On Sep 22, 2015
According to the American heritage dictionary of the English language of the fifth edition define substandard product as failing to meet required standard. Products that are inferior, inadequate, unacceptable, imperfect, second-rate and shoddy are all substandard. These products are not healthy to the economy of any nation and thus must be checked through an institution like the standard organization of Nigeria (SON) who has the authority to check the standard of product manufactured or produced in Nigeria and also the imported ones into the country.

According to the Director General, Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), Dr. Joseph Odumodu, said the influx of substandard foreign products in the country was slowly killing the nation’s economy. Odumodu made the remark at a two-day North-west zonal sensitization seminar on zero tolerance for substandard products held at the Giginya Hotel, Sokoto. According to him, the menace of such substandard products from abroad had led to the collapse of many industries especially in the North-west. He observed that the influx of such products particularly from China was responsible to a large extent, the collapse of most industries in Kano state, which is the economic hub of the North.”As you are aware, substandard products have affected our economy. If you go to Kano today, you will discover that most companies there have collapsed because we have ignored standards and that is why we are suffering.”In fact, some of this foreign products being consumed in Nigeria are injurious to our health and poor people are dying and nobody is asking questions, “he said.He noted that some companies left Nigeria for a more conducive environment because they are losing money and no longer making profit and attributed the problem to substandard products. Career / A Problem Must Be Defined Before It Can Be Solved by elosonservices(m): 3:02pm On Sep 21, 2015
Companies are doing their best to keep up with competitors and the ever-changing business landscape. But many of their efforts fail because they can’t even accurately define the problem they’re facing. An expert provides a road map for figuring out how to get everyone aligned on the problem so progress will be made.
When a program, strategy o r project fails to achieve its goals, the reason can often be traced back to the very beginning when no one seemed to clearly define or agree on the problem.

That may sound a bit strange – how can any organization move forward with a solution unless they clearly understand the problem?

Yet, it happens more often than anyone would probably like to admit, which is why Satish P. Subramanian provides a clear framework for getting a better handle on defining a problem in his book, “Transforming Business with Program Management.”

“Some organizations have a tendency to jump the gun,” when moving toward a solution and can lead them to rush through defining the problem, he explains.

“This doesn’t have to be a long, drawn-out process, and doesn’t require a lot of structure,” he explains. “But without a framing up of the issue, you won’t be able to meet your goals.”

In other words, a team that takes action without a clear agreement and definition of the problem is a waste of manpower, resources and time.  “Whatever journey you’re on, you’re not going to be able to achieve the outcome you want,” he says. Career / Why Managers Must Embrace Big Data Or Be Left Behind by elosonservices(m): 1:34pm On Sep 21, 2015
Business experts say that analytics and data will define the difference between winners and losers in various industries. If you’re a manager and don’t have a clue about statistics or how to ask smart questions about data, it’s time to start if you want to thrive in your career and your organization.
Do you only care about statistics when discussing fantasy football? Is the only knowledge you have of data is how to spell it? If so, you better wise up – fast.

While data and statistics are changing the way companies like Google and Amazon do business, they also are impacting industries from manufacturing to health care. Managers and employees who are clueless about the subjects may find themselves standing on the sidelines as key projects continue without them or senior leaders pass them over for promotions.

Susan Athey, a Stanford Graduate School of Business economics professor, has consulted for companies like Microsoft and other technology firms. She says that while these companies require their managers to be knowledgeable about data collection and statistics, it’s a trend that’s starting to seep into other industries.

She explains that more companies are collecting and analyzing data as a way to stay competitive and innovative. It’s been shown that when companies inject data and analytics deep into their operations, they can boost productivity and profit that is 5% to 6% higher than the competition.

In other words, managers can no longer just ignore Big Data or trust the IT department or an outside firm to deal with it. If they value their jobs, they need to become more informed. Read more www.elosonservices.com/why-managers-must-embrace-big-data-or-be-left-behind/

Sorry, I have abusive relationships. I prefer reading divorce news to reading murder/manslaughter news.

If a marriage doesn't work, another MIGHT.
If not for yourself, think of those that will grieve after your demise.
Please know when to draw the curtain on abusive relationships!
Bros I advice you to put those things behind you.
The major reason people fails in relationship is simply lack of study, when the case of divorce was brought before jesus christ he told them Have You Not Read, that he that made them made them male and female.

Career / 3 Big Mistakes That Ceos Must Fix To Inspire Employees by elosonservices(m): 7:26am On Sep 18, 2015
Across every business vertical and level, we all tell ourselves little white lies when it comes to communicating: “People tell me I’m pretty good at communicating.” “I don’t need to prep; I can wing it.” “If I say the words, people will get it.”

At the CEO level, these white lies run rampant. After years of working with business leaders, the fact is most CEOs are not inspiring. And oftentimes, they are not even influential.

The good news: All of us can inspire. We just have to tweak our communications approach. Communicating is a learned skill, critical for leadership and motivation – the CEO’s primary task.

Here are the top three mistakes that CEOs make – and how to fix them:

Mistake #1: CEOs read speeches

Consider the annual Academy Awards acceptance speeches. The most memorable speakers of the evening are always those who share straight from the heart.

We think of Lupita Nyong’o’s authenticity in sharing how she took a risk in her career (2014) or Sally Field’s excitement at feeling validated by the academy (1985). What we don’t remember are the speeches that begin and end with a pre-written set of notes. These two types of speeches just feel different; one impacts us and the other doesn’t.

On the one hand, it makes sense to read a speech that someone else writes because we’re all tight on time. As leaders, we think, if it’s scripted, we can just plug and play. However, we don’t come across as effective or authentic if we don’t practice.

And it takes longer to prepare when you are dead-set on getting the wordsmithing right on the speech someone else wrote the speech for you.

I was helping a global software executive prepare for a large industry event, alongside two team members – one from PR and one from marketing. Her team did exactly what they should have done – they prepared her with a message that was interesting and thought provoking. Read more

Romance / Why Should I Save My Marriage? by elosonservices(m): 7:12am On Sep 18, 2015
Today’s society is extremely hectic. We all have to deal with stress, responsibilities and on top of that we have to make all the necessary efforts to make our relationships work properly.

What happens when our relationship stops working? What happens when your marriage is not what it used to be? What happens when you reach that point when you think that divorce is probably the only way? You will eventually ask yourself “Should I save my marriage or Should I start a new one?”

If this is your situation, it is advisable not to jump to conclusions. Before making that final step you should meditate a little and consider saving your marriage. So why should I save my marriage?

Here are top 5 reasons why saving your marriage is better than starting a new one.

Why should I save my marriage?

Love

You should consider saving your marriage because it is possible that you still love each other. Despite the fact that you have many arguments, problems and different opinions concerning many aspects of your life, it is possible that you still love each other. Take that into consideration before filing for a divorce. Continue reading
