Romance / Re: Miss Nairaland June 2013 - Elimination Round 1 by ElPresido: 12:25pm On Jun 03, 2013
I love all the ladies here. We have very pretty ladies (they are homely too). It's just unfortunate that only 14 ladies were brave enough to let us into their worlds. Having said that, I vote d following damsels into the next round, not in any particular order:

1. Graise: I love nurses and midwives...wish to to marry one or at worst a doctor.
2. AG.gal: My love for intelligent nurses continues. They are excellent caregivers.
3. Lupey: Reminds me of Olamisde's Stu.pid Love: "She carry back". This lady is so sexy...I'll vote her anyday
4. Vanneni: My God, what elegance! This Benue babe is stylishly stunning.
5. Natascha: Pretty and focused. I'm an Environmental Chemist...and, explosive-making...?
6. Nadia: another Soweto beauty. SA chics are pretty n bold
7. Sleekchic: very homemade...will make a good wife plus...she's a fellow Chemist
8. Adaobi: very handy and quite organised for a young babe

I hope that with these few points of mine, I have bn able to convince and not confuse you to include all my 8 nominees in d next round. Sorry I was late.

Phones / Goclever Tab; Who Knows About It? by ElPresido: 3:54pm On Apr 19, 2013
Hello everyone.

I think I need a tablet and while looking at all options available to me (manufacturer, connectivity, battery life and cost), a colleague came back from a business trip to China with loads of GoClever tablets. I never heard of this GoClever before. He is selling them to everyone at the office for between 60,000 and 90,000 depending on the screen size, etc. From what I've seen, the tab runs on android os but that's all I know.

Please who knows about this? The guy is furiously marketing it in my face.

taharqa: Some of u chaps dont really hv much sense. Who eva said that dis project is PURELY an FG (read: GEJ) project? But what it is also NOT is d impressn that ADB and d World Bank DASHED Nigeria and Cameroon d road. I mean they cudn't hv DASHED us almost $500m FREE, and did it all on their own. Plus, yr own Source says in d last paragraph that 'Nigeria and Cameroon wud obtain a LOAN from d ADB for these Structures..' (although its not clear if d article was just referring to sm structures on d road). Your source also indicatd that d project was delayd as early as 2011 as a result of d inability of Cameroon to mk its own part payments as when due. So, what if Nigeria (who paid promptly) and even Cameroon didnt eventuali pay up, wud the road be nearing completn today? Your source also said that d Idea for the road was birthed since d 1980s, while real push for the project began in d early to mid 2000s. Why do you think d contract was finali signd and actual constructn done only within 1 Admin after more than 25 yrs of 'planning' and waiting..... We thank d ADB and World Bank very much for their strong collaboratn in seeing this project tru; BUT to pretend that d Govts of Cameroon and Nigeria were just by-standers Or that they weren't even d MAIN drivers of d project, is just DUMB

U took ur time to type the best post on this thread! God bless ur brain cells. Amen. As for those who htink they can bully others off their(other people's) points of view, may God Almighty stretch out His mighty healing hand and heal them of hatred and jealousy. Amen.

Why wasn't d road contract signed and completed from Shagari, Buhari through IBB,. . ., OBJ. to Yar'Adua administrations?

Politics / Re: Nigeria Is The Second Fastest Market For Champagne - N41bn Spent by ElPresido: 6:34pm On Mar 22, 2013
Why not, when Nigerian musicians do free adverts for Champagne and Hennessy in every of their tracks?

Not surprised at all. Provided it's made in Nigeria, we will buy it and worship it.

Family / Re: How Often Do You Talk To Your Parents? by ElPresido: 2:54pm On Mar 20, 2013
At least once a week. when I call, I ask to speak with everyone around, including grandma. The issue is that when I call mum and speak with dad and siblings, each of them (dad, siblings) still want me to call them say, d next day.

When I call dad and speak with d family, mum and others want me to call their own lines later. It's really not funny to me. I can't do without calling my mum due to closeness but I can't call everyone when I can use one call to speak to everyone. My mum demands that I call everyday or at worst, 2 days but I'm not d call type at all. I don't care if my phone doesn't ring in a year provided its connected to the internet. I prefer texts but they are not in to texts.

Meanwhile, I've lost about 3 girls cos I "don't care to call" all the time. They feel I don't have time for them. Some see it as overconfidence, which is not d case. I'm just not that chatty.
Politics / Re: Boko-Haram Has Destroyed 50 Catholic Churches In Borno by ElPresido: 2:57pm On Mar 19, 2013
Now lets go percentages:

50 out of 52 is 96.2% of Catholic churches!
This implies that BH has taken down over 96% of Catholic churches in their home, now that's callous. Annihilation!

They deserve no pity at all. JTF, kill them all!!!

Politics / Re: Nigeria Summit : Enabling and Implementing Change by ElPresido: 12:05pm On Mar 19, 2013
Result-oriented speech dwells on achievements:

mukina2: The former president of Brazil, Lula da Silva, now delivering his keynote address

In 10 years, 33m people were lifted from below the poverty line. 44m were lifted to the middle class. 17m formal jobs were created. We created 3 million small and medium enterprises. minimum wage went from $80 to $420. The education budget went from $9b to $30b. We managed to get electricity to 99.8% of homes in Brazil - Brazil is the 3rd largest food producer in the world after the US and the European Union. Today, brazil has capital investment of 20% of GDP. Domestic debt has fallen from 62% of GDP to 35%.Brazil needs to diversify its relations.

Compare with this futuristic plan of action:

mukina2:
Now, President Goodluck Jonathan is about to speak.

We have our challenges and we are working hard to meet them.
GEJ mentions his war against corruption and you could almost hear the collective sigh in the hall
The problem of ghost workers has been significantly reduced
Our economy grew by 6.8%, which is by far one of the highest in the world
Our port reforms are aimed at achieving efficiency in that sector. We shall continue to work with stakeholders to make it better
Nigerians are spending less to buy diesel today
There are so many steps that we have taken to sanitize the oil industry
We are diversifying. In agriculture, we have accelerated the production of staple foods
In manufacturing, we are encouraging backward integration. In housing, we are setting up a mortgage company.
We established YouWin to encourage young Nigerian to create jobs. Our target is that it creates 8,000 jobs in a shorttime
We have laid a solid foundation for our international partners to come in and invest
Dangote is the biggest producer of sugar

The difference is very clear. As per passion, that is what GEJ lacks while making speeches. He doesn't speak from his own mind. . .he merely reads what has been written. He can rarely motivate his audience to action.

Politics / Re: FG Lifts Flight Suspension Of Dana Airlines by ElPresido: 10:30am On Mar 19, 2013
CLASSMAN: I need to ask sincerely does any body still fly this molue? This goes to show how very insensitive our government of the day has become, will they tell me money has not exchanged hands here? Till anoda disaster from dana occur b4 they ban them finally . Waiting sha
Mean while .....to coment

Nothing says that Dana has not learned its lessons. Calling their planes molue is totally uncalled for! Dana was (if not still) d best and most safety-conscious airline in Nigeria (b4 last year's crash). They may have done exactly what is expected of them and they shud be allowed to do business.

My issue with d ban and unban thing is that our regulators are making it look frivolous. U ban someone on Saturday then unban him on Monday? It only goes to show that you did not do ur homework diligently well (on Saturday). There is no way Dana wud have used Sunday to fulfill all safety requirements that may have caused the ban.
Politics / Re: FG Lifts Flight Suspension Of Dana Airlines by ElPresido: 10:23am On Mar 19, 2013
Confused ministry and parastatals! With one breath u ban; with another breath, u lift same ban. . .probably without any check to see if the conditions for d initial ban were met or not. Nigeria is sick!
Politics / Al Qaeda Is Recruiting To Fight France In Mali by ElPresido: 9:35am On Mar 19, 2013
I knew it would come to this. Funny enough, u'll see people willingly subscribing and getting trained to die!

Reuters) - Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) has appealed for new recruits from North African Arab countries in its fight against what it said was France's Crusader campaign in Mali, a U.S.-based intelligence monitoring website reported on Sunday.

SITE said the appeal was posted on websites used by AQIM on Saturday, urging Islamist militants being pursued by their governments to join its fighters battling French-led forces in Mali or Algeria.

France launched a ground and air operation in Mali in January to break Islamist rebels' hold on the region, saying the militants posed a risk to the security of West Africa and Europe.

"The front of the Islamic Maghreb today is in direst need of the support of the sons of Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, and Mauritania, to thwart the attack of Crusader France and defeat its agents in the region, and empower the Islamic project," AQIM said, according to a translation of the statement emailed by SITE.

However, AQIM also said that if Islamist youths in North Africa could have a greater impact in their own countries, they should stay to fight secularism and push for the imposition of sharia-based rule.

France's offensive has wrested northern Mali from Islamist occupation and killed scores of fighters. Other rebels have retreated into mountain caves and desert hiding places stocked with arms and supplies.

The Algerian army in January killed at least 32 al-Qaeda- linked militants in an assault to end a siege at a desert gas plant in which 23 hostages were killed, many of them foreigners.

Education / Scholarship/funding Opportunities Needed by ElPresido: 4:52pm On Sep 16, 2011
Hi all.

I am new here. . .actually a friend told me about this site (he said i can get useful info here).

I was just denied visa to travel to Western Europe for a masters study. Their reason: Insufficient monthly income of my sponsor to cater for his needs and mine in Europe. My uncle earns quite a sum (plus my own savings, having lost my job last year) but i guess they want moneybags to guarantee me. My school is billed to start by the end of this month and the whole thing threw me into a state of confusion.

Given that I cannot secure a visa within the enrollment period of the school, I just mailed my Letter of Deferral to the school. If approved, I'll have a chance for next session but I'll still need funding guarantee.

I need to apply funding with my letter of (deferred) current admission. So pls how does one secure a scholarship for studies in Europe (not just UK)? Kindly give me agencies and programmes from which i can source for funds between now and March next year. U can include study good schools, with scholarships i can apply to (in case i miss out on getting grants for the current programme)

Thank u
