African mentality been displayed again. how can father rule for 42 years and son will now take over after fathers death ?
is nobody else qualified in Gabon ?
what are the citizens saying ?

i beg i need answers.
You need to remember that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. What people tend to forget that it also spreads like a disease. Once someone becomes corrupted with power, they begin to foster someone to take over, usually someone of their own blood. Remember the president of North Korea appointed his Son to take over from him etc. I suppose it is a man's weakness and not exactly and exclusive "african mentality"

Guys I heard what you all have said. I just refuse to believe we can be this ignorant. I refuse to believe that someone with  no legislative powers, executive powers or have any bearing at all on the rule of law can grant criminals an amnesty. It is a smack in the face of rule of law.

Surely, if the King is dancing naked, there are a few people who will point this out? Where are the "Pro Nigerians" here? You know the ones that are blindly patriotic? huh

I mean, are these criminals granted amnesty on the basis that her name start with the following appellations? "Her excellency, First lady of, " Some please explain to me. This is utter madness and complete ignorance on path of the people running that state.

Dude the cars are not that reliable. There is a high probability you will end up with one that would give you problems. If you are hell bent on getting one, perhaps you should consider swapping the engine for something more reliable. smiley

If you are about class [for that price range] and what not, I guess you may have to look at things like Xedos from Mazda [Mind you, now discontinued] or something from Hyundai or Kia??

Car TalkSmart Car. Would You Use/Buy One? by ElRazur(op): 4:36pm On Jun 09, 2009
Smart cars are in my opinion are the Bee's knee for everyday transport in Nigeria. Compact, economical, refined and easy to service. We recently took one home and it was used in travelling from Lagos to Kwara state and then to Benin, then back to Kwara state. All of these journey done with N1800 petrol of full tank. Air condition was on full blast for most of the journey and the music system was cranking up too.

What makes this car interesting is how they are designed. The body panels are more or less like really hard industrial plastic panels, build around a "roll cage like frame". While it looks small on the outside, it actually feels big on the inside. Why are we not using this car a lot back home?

They come with a triptronic gear box [Semi automatic] and a low profile turbo-charged engine. With top speeds of around 90mph. It is good enough to keep up with speeds on the motorways and on Nigerian road, probably more than enough. Then there are things like ABS, ESP and airbags thrown in too.

It should be noted that these cars are now the "old shape" and the new shaped ones are more streamlined and lower with bigger tyres etc.

I know a few people would take a look at these and think "oh it wont survive and accident" well, for your information, These cars have been test-crashed at 70mph here in the UK and the result are pretty much impressive.

Nice one Siena.

I wondert if any of these car dealers would come out and talk now? I have noticed what Siena mentioned in the opening post, however I always felt I will never buy from a car dealer from here am afraid (anyone remember friendl flogging off incorrect mileage car? And that is just what we know. )

Some car sellers here seem to think people are idiots around here to be honest.

Once again, nice one siena. You can sleep with your eyes closed, as no one can assasinate you for pointing out the obvious. Lol.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) military training (pics) by ElRazur: 2:18pm On Jun 09, 2009
jimmysho:
it is not a news that corporal punishment is part of the military training globally.

so, we should stop being under the dilution that such is peculiar to naija military alone. mind u, all those military training stuffs are imported tactics into nigeria military from the colonial days.

come to the US military training, ur eyes will see more than enough 'brutality'
There is coporal punishment and then there is brutality. What I have seen in these photos are brutality territory. It does not make a refined military men or a killing machine. It instead builds a psycopath - evident in the killing of civillians in Nigeria. The beating and almost stripping naked of that ibo girl by military force.

It also seem illogical that you blame colonial masters for something in 2009. Do you not think these men runnnig our military have a mind of their own, other than the long gone colonial people? Just a thought.

I've just cheked the CIA Fact book

what CIA rating are you refering to?

Is it the one that states:

This entry gives spending on defense programs for the most recent year available as a percent of gross domestic product (GDP); the GDP is calculated on an exchange rate basis, i.e., not in terms of purchasing power parity (PPP).

Then goes on to state Canada 1.1% of GDP (2005 est.)

1.5% of GDP (2006) Nigeria 1.5% of GDP (2006)

Should one then take the above to mean Nigeria has a more sophisticated or powerful military than Canada?
I don't get your point. Remember, anyone who do not share your school of thought must be anti-nigeria right? CIA fact book is more or less a review of countries of the world based of known facts and facts that are updated / declassified. Make of it as what you will, but it gives an insight about a nation in many ways.
Car TalkRe: How Much Is A Rover 75 In Naija? by ElRazur: 12:03pm On Jun 09, 2009
Rover 75 is called a "Poor man's Jag" over here. grin Don't get me wrong, they are very good car aesthetically, but like already pointed, they are let down by the engine in them.

My friend had the one with a V6 engine, leather trim, satellite navigation etc. However, the V6 do not really feel like one and to balanced things out, his own didn't go to the mechanic much, other than for regular service.

The Rover company folded up, partly because of poor innovations, changing market and competition. However, they may be back - I am sure some company with deep pockets would probably buy the intellectual rights etc.

Instead of buying a RHD in the UK, just pop over to Germany to pick them up - Check out Mobile.de [However, do not part with your money over the internet, that site have been ruined by Naijans Fraudsters] and the dealer usually leave their email and details.

Good luck if that is what you want, but have at the back of your mind that they are problematic. smiley
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) military training (pics) by ElRazur: 11:31am On Jun 09, 2009
This debate of Nigeria's military being the best have been done by me and a few others to death on facebook.

For starters, have a look on CIA fact book and see how Nigeria is rated. Then to get a more general view, please do a bit of Googling here and there. Nigeria's military is not exactly the best in Africa, talk less of our "National Army Training Center"

Ghana alone have a better "Reconnaissance unit" than us, in fact, their Reconnaissance out is rated as the best in Africa - this is due to the fact that their overall Army number is smaller than us and hence able to afford better training approach etc.

I see already that a few people have been mentioning that NDA take in people from across Africa. Oh please, they do alright, however it is a common knowledge that Allies military forces regular learn about each other. The Brits have trained along side Nigeria's men, just the same way other African countries have trained along side US forces.

As for those photos, I would like to think they look more like some sort of punishment and in no way to measure "fitness" like someone was trying to say.

How about this for fitness? I recently applied to join The Army here as a B.M.S and most of the things I have to do, your typical Nigerian man may not be able to pull it off. I aint even lying. smiley I know a few people would be up in arms again, but Bleep em all. smiley

In the British Army, depending on what unit you have to join - your basic training may just be slightly different. For example if joining the Parachute regiment - People who usually get dropped off deep behind enemy lines etc then you will need to run 1.5 miles [2.6km or so] in less than 9mins. However, due to the fact that I wanted to join as a Medic my category falls to running 1.5miles in under 14mins. I thought it was going to be easy, but my god it wasn't. My best time so far is about 11mins and 35secs.

Prior to running, one have to do Proper push ups of about 50 or so in less than 2mins. Then you have to do 30 Press ups in less than a min, then go jogging 1.5miles. Now that is what I call fitness. Also after that you will need to pull 20kg on each arm. This is the grip test and used to determine one's capacity etc. There are other things like Bench test - involves using some machines etc. One have to do. And all of these, before one goes for the basic training test in Pirbright. No wonder, they have one of the best forces in the world.

Nigeria military is still way behind and even for an African country that is supposedly peaceful we lack the resources. Our navy are still using dated Frigate when the Navies of the world have war ships the size of Stadium. So when we talk of military forces, we still have a very long way to go. In my opinion, our military have the power to control the Nigerian masses and that is just about it.

Am I anti-Nigerian? Nope. I just say it as it is. If you have seen the Ocean and sea, the local river is more or less a minor issue.

Not at all. I am fed up as to how people use religion for their own greed and purpose. Mind you, that have been happening from a long time.

As much as people talk about Islam, little do people [muslims including] realise that it is recorded in the quran that Muhammed married a girl at 8 and had sex with her at 9. It is a fact, and as such it aint like am "throwing stones".

God knows many times my names have been spelt wrongly, and how my first names have been swapped for my middle names. smiley

How come they wrote the first letter with your middle name?. I know very well that oyibos don't switch names like we naijas. They always stick to your first name and ask for the middle initial in most cases. Middle names are almost useless in their book. How could they possibly address you with your middle name or do you have double identity?
Does it matter? huh

Computer can get names wrong. Humans in charge of the computer can get it wrong. A typo could have happened anywhere. . . . Seriously, why does it matter? huh

@Poster, why stop there? Ask of the many "Nigerians" who have been claimed to have invented the cure for AIDS. I know almost one pops up every year, but news of these people and their inventions vanishes days after. lol
I just feel a lot of people would have been misinformed and actually viewed the guy as an inventor. I think the problem lies with the Nigeria media and the people who actually recognised "his achievement" with some sort of award.

As for those claiming cure for aids, check out the most extraordinary claim I ever heard in my life! A president of a whole nation claimed to have cure of aids, using Banana, Quran and some other stuff. He made this announcement on a world stage you know! How disgraceful is that?

A lot of nonsense has been said in here due to the mis information given on Crime watch UK. I know Seyi and am very sure he graduated from Med Sch in Nigeria, however I have not seen him in years so cannot comment on why a case with the GMC as now resulted in him being declared a fake doctor

November 21, 2006 FAROMBI:LOCUM DOCTOR HAD TO BE BEGGED TO EXAMINE BURNS VICTIM. EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND. A locum doctor had to be begged to examine a burns victim's agonising wounds, the GMC heard. Dr Oluwaseyi Farombi shunned two nurses' repeated requests to look at the patient because he was specialising in psychiatry not first aid, it is said.

The problem a lot of Nigerians have is a lack of respect for the law and due process this I believe could have been Seyis nemesis, however I am sure the general public will hear what really happened wih time, at the same time we should not be quick to condemn .
Did you missed the part that mentioned he used fake papers? huh Why do people keep missing this? The burns case is just one of the many reasons he is wanted. From what we can gather so far:

He is wanted for using fake papers. He is wanted for jumping bail. He also appear to have issues with GMC as to what look like a neglect of duty. Then there is the little issue of him having an ongoing case initially.

For the record, what non-sense exactly was mentioned on crime watch?
