nwolisar: ![]() It may just be a honest mistake. I am not sure the 2008 come with Xenon lights. Maybe an after market fit. |

You are kidding with the price right? How is yours any better than this one here: https://www.nairaland.com/2642155/super-clean-tokunbo-nissan-murano Even the one in that link is still in my opinion OVER PRICED. |
Picture of engine area please. |
Any issues with the car? Also photos of the front please. |
What the heck is wrong with you effing Nigerians? You know the ones trying to act as mediators but also encouraging a fraudster. Abeg chop Shit all of you. Why do we need to enable a freaking fraudster? I swear to God, if this fraudster of a dealer did this to me, I will find you and burn you down. And I am not a violent person. Jesus freaking Christi. Pay up his money. No point meeting up. No point for long story. Pay up his effing money. Onigbese oloriburuku mehn. Eye no dey effing push you ni? |
Abeg more advice and input o. Me sef dey watch and read this with keen interest. I have Cotonou on my mind but I am no longer sure if it is worth it. |
More pictures? |
beecrofty:I see. Thanks. Will Google the images then. |
Guys, what's a good price to pay for a good grade 2005 MDX in naija and a fair price for one from Cotonou? Thanks. |
FastShipping:Why do you say that? The OP can post a picture of the engine bay VIN (Badge) ID na. |
A theme that seem to be coming up on here is that I should only wait to speak when I am scammed. LOL. I'm sorry but I refused to be scammed and let you have a cheap thrill at my expense. When traders act in unpleasant way, it is only normal for the consumer to react in way that counter that. Sigh. |
freddie2014:Actually there were suggestion of carrying cash but I told him I don't feel comfortable. That's however, besides the point. I had an agreement (an oral or gentleman's agreement if you like) initially. I told him then I will be in contact as I actually want to come down to Cotonou for the experience etc. The massive change in price is what I don't understand and then his rude approach. As it stand, I clearly wouldn't be buying from him and the next time someone else go to him, he'll be forced to at least show some more concsistency and clarity. I think this is one thing many are missing. There are no (false) allegations here. It is what he did I am stating. I hope he'll show up to post on here to explain the massive price hike. |
freddie2014:I'll like to hear how a price can jump from 1.5 to 2.5 in space of two months. |
I never said he scammed me. I merely stated that the price hike aren't justifiable and his approach are wrong. I think it is fair to point all of these out. It isn't a witch hunt either. If he's done well, I'll post about it. |
Here is the profile of the person I will be talking about https://www.nairaland.com/hiliaryautos For those with short attention span, insufficient data and those looking for excitement. This gentle man DID NOT SCAM me. Still want to read? Go ahead. What happened? Let me keep it simple: I contacted him and a few others over sourcing a car from Cotonou. All went well and we exchanged emails etc. I even called him a few times. He eventually gave me a price for a car I wanted and I said to him that it is doable but be around till end of the year but I have down along side others who I will keep in touch with. That was some few months ago. So fast forward a few days ago, I contacted him and asked about prices again (as some of you know, closer to the end of the year, the money tend to fluctuate) but the price this time around seem to have a massive increase or difference of 1million naira plus. I asked him why the massive price hike. And from my view, no matter how much the money fluctuates, there cannot be a million naira plus difference. After all, Cotonou isn't in Zimbabwe or something. I tried to explain to him that his original quote was 1.5m and why the massive jump to 2.5m isn't justifiable. He instead said that anyone selling me the car I am after for 1.5m from Cotonou is selling me a car with fake papers. At this point I screened shot an email where he quoted me 1.5 for a MDX 2005 and then asked if he planned on giving me fake papers or just hiking the price for the sake of it? He promptly blocked me. And that was that. Now, I am not upset and I am glad this happened before money exchanged hand. However, a bit of transparency can go a long way. I also post this because many of us are away from home and need a car to run around for the small time we are back home. Please do ask questions and from my little experience with Hilary Autos, I won't touch him. If he cannot deal with questions in simple things, good luck if your money get into his hand. I have the correspondence and various screeen shots. I will only post them if they are necessary. I have given the gist of the story. Please be careful. |
Unbelievable. |
Do you have more pictures please? Thanks. |
It is 60 000 miles, not 100k http://www.ford.co.uk/BuyingandprotectingyourFord/Warranties/New-Car |
femibig:In the UK, they offer 100k miles warranty on the engine and paint work if I remember correctly. |
Na wah mehn. Seem some cannot just explain or debate in a civil way. Not every debate should have a "winner". We can all talk about the merit of what we perceived as a " better car" but at the end of the day, we aren't the ones paying for it but the OP. All these insults and bickering back and forth isn't the way. OP, I tend to go for a test drive here before I buy a car. I understand that this may be difficult in naija but what do you have to lose to pick up the offer of @pato405 and have a look. You have nothing to lose. Also if anyone is offering for you to have a look at other brand, it is worth doing so. |
Fulaman198:Bro, I don't want to argue. To say there aren't misconception is just a lie. The American magazine you tout as the holy grail are nothing but opinion of those in a position of opportunity to write for a magazine. Admittedly Ford have issues just like any other car. I can easily link a few good report on Ford models that are good but hey, according to you there aren't any or something. This thread is starting to go off rail so I'll leave it as that. Thanks. |
shullamite:You won't get a lot of money for it simply because it is second hand (abi na third hand) plus people seem to have a misconception of Ford reliability. That will drive the resale value down in my opinion. |
alfard:Thanks bro, that's reassuring to read. I am of the view that it is a better SUV than the RX 330 but many would probably disagree. How did you sourced you MDX, Cotonou/US or did you got it in naija? I have seen a few at the Berger car market but getting one from Cotonou is what I am looking at. |
alfard:Thanks brother. I know you said no complaint but what are you views on ride comfort, fuel economy - basically how much do you pay to fill the tank? How has it copped with the roads of naija etc. What's your take to servicing the car, do go to Honda or use reputable mechs etc. . |
Bump. So no owner in here? No one with hands on experience etc. . . |
shullamite:My brother drives a 2006 Ford Escape in Nigeria. It was a left hand imported from the UK. In fact, the car was from an American military personnel based in the UK here. The car has been used to travel to a few parts of Nigeria and I have been inside it from Ilorin to Ife and for many daily use in Ilorin. My thoughts? A reliable car that I personally see nothing wrong with it. The ride is quiet on the inside and seem to absorb the bad roads well. The car has been in naija for three years or so now and the only repair that's done on it was when the car door was dented by the house gate. No mechanical failure and no issues that will give me any concerns if I am buying a Ford Escape. I am buying a car in naija soon and I have it down as one of the alternatives I would consider. In my experience, I have nothing bad to say about Ford Escape. Even here in the UK, they've upped their game and they are easy and cheap to own and maintain. Finally, Ford that come to Nigeria are probably the one designated for America and in my experience they tend to come more kitted than their UK counterpart. If you want to buy a Ford escape, I'll say go for it. However, don't be an average Nigerian and try to cut corners with servicing and looking after your ride because I= O. What you put in is what you will get down the line. A Ford Escape from 2005 seem to retail for 800k - 1.5m. I think for what it does as s daily commute for social and pleasure, it is not bad. Good luck. |
mayor2013:Post edited. Thanks. |
I have this SUV as my main choice and close to getting it. Anyone had experience of this vehicle before, what are the things I should know about owing this car and what other alternative I may want to look at? Thanks in advance. Edit I'm looking at a 2005 MDX. I believe they all cone in the same engine size for that year. |
