The 38 case happened alright, however the media made it look like it happened every now and then. The media made it feel like every teenager carries a knife. The media made it look like every teenage fight involves knife. That is the hype.

In reality, those cases of fatal happened over a year period [yet the media made it sound like it is an everyday occurrence], some of it are not by teenager like the media would want us to believe. The news paper used it as a medium to sell their news paper by sensationalizing etc.

There was an outburst of knife crime in the UK last year or so, with new incidents reported almost every day or was it every week.

So depending on how you look at it, the stats can apply.

But from my own perspective, I think there are more Nigerians involved in shady activities than there are those who arent.

vis a vis culture and secrecy.

And when they get busted, everyone shouts to high heavens from shock and failing to understand the scope of the problem.

I'm not saying other nationalities also dont have a significant number of legally liable criminals. However, Nigerians seem to be blessed with selective vision on most issues concerning themselves.

The list is compiled every week or so, and he just happens to be on that list for reasons best known to the police. He breached his bail conditions remember?

The thing is this, the report of Knife crime in the UK was hyped and only 38 case or so happened last year. Yet anyone who followed the even was made to feel like it was an everyday occurrence - thanks to the media. What I am saying is that the reports generated in the media, especially sensationalised one are done for one purpose and one purpose only - To maximise sales.

You may not care about voodoo, but that doesnt mean the majority of Nigerians dont.

Oga/Madam [sorry not sure which is yours ] I am not supporting, defending or denying your view, I am just wondering if there is a KNOWN figures like your post would suggest. Issue reported in the media are not exactly the ideal way to go. For example, during the recent report of Knife crime in the UK, outsiders would think it is something that happens literally every day. Yet in actual fact, it aint the case. Hence why I am asking you if there is a "proper stats" like you are claiming.

Erm. You are missing the point. He is a wanted criminal, what his crimes are somewhat irrelevant. He is a wanted man and that is the point.

Let us talk about his crime for a minute. Judging by the story, he appeared to have posed as a doctor in a mental home when clearly he do not have the right qualifications and know how. During his time as a "doctor" [a fake doctor that is] he may have made decision that have altered the life of a patient in a very negative way, he may have made decision that he shouldn't not have made as he wasnt even suppose to be there. Is that a horrendous crime enough for you? If it isnt, I wonder if you would be happy if a dubious doctor looks after you, or better still prescribe some medication for?

I'm starting to think the 419 Naijas far outnumber the honest ones, who may actually be a minority. The statistics seem to point to that.

When you add the juju factor which almost 90% of Nigerians are dependent on in one way or another, you may finally have a glimpse of this problem.

There are loads of hard working and honest Nigerians here. However, the reputation of the bad one have preceded that of the good ones.

As for your stats, it would be interesting to know where you got those from.

You should see UK Border Force on SKY 3  and Sky 1 on Saturdays and Sundays as well, there is always a Nigerian featured!

What riles me most is that these cases involving 'notorious nigerians' get a lot of publicity. They are 'Nigerians' when it's bad news but 'British-Nigerian' or 'lived in Nigeria till she was 21 but has always had a british passport' when its good!

If you remember, sometime last year UK police dished out warning to all managers to monitor the use of computer by their staff following some credit card scam perpetrated by a Nigerian in London from his office PC.

Well I do see where you are coming from. If you have any proof then you may have a case - i.e can the IT department check who visted what site etc?

In any case, it would be difficult for you to pull against them. Alternatively, systematically collect your own evidence with time and date, and use it against them? Or may be just take the warning and be a man lol. Sorry.
