There was drama on Monday at the new wing of the Senate complex in Abuja after a National Assembly official physically assaulted the senate deputy minority whip, Abiodun Olujimi. The incident happened shortly before the commencement of a public hearing of the committee on petroleum (downstream). Trouble started when an official of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) rode in the same elevator with the lawmaker, PREMIUM TIMES learnt. Lifts in the assembly are installed in pairs, one reserved for lawmakers (Senators and House of Representatives members), and another for other users. The senator was on her way to the petroleum committee public hearing while the PASAN member, who was not immediately identified, was to attend a meeting of his association. The PASAN meeting was in preparation for a strike which the association is about to commence, PREMIUM TIMES learnt. A witness said when the lawmaker saw the PASAN staff in the elevator reserved for lawmakers, she demanded to know why he used the same lift with her. The witness said the lawmaker directed her aide to “slap” the legislative official, who immediately responded in kind. The PASAN staff however slapped the senator and not her aide. Neither the senator, her aide nor the PASAN staff gave further details of the incident as journalists inquired. Mrs. Olujimi left the elevator and challenged the PASAN official, who was immediately shielded by his colleagues. The PASAN staff refused to apologise, and it took the intervention of National Assembly security officials to rescue her from the scene. Other PASAN members declined comments and refused to give the name of the official involved. The senator thereafter attended public hearing. In a chat with some journalists after the hearing, she vowed to take up the case with the National Assembly security. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/256988-drama-national-assembly-official-slaps-senator.html

The much applauded launch of the Messiah (Tstv) that would save us from DStv ripoff seems to have gone underground even before the battle would start. Please, does anyone know what is going on? Has it rolled out? Has anyone started using it? what is the performance? Is it worth it? Where to buy? Just want to know the latest cos I was really interested in having one but I don't seem to hear or find any information about it recently.

onuhabel1:New Living Translation "What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law--justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things. The New Covenant (or New Testament) Christianity was commissioned effectively after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christ while he lived gradually debunked most of the old covenant (old testament) practices (including tithing) which would no longer be necessary in the Christendom he would leave behind by the time he is done. By Matt. 23:23 he was already laying the foundation or sending the signal to the effect that the new covenant Christian would have no need for such old covenant practice. You say tithing was not part of the 10 commandments (or the law) that was replaced by Grace but so also burnt offering was not part of the 10 commandment but is also no longer necessary. If you say tithing was prior to mosaic law, there are other practices, such as circumcision and sabbath-keeping which pre-date the law and yet are no longer binding on us. why don't you preserve those as well. James 2:10 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. Christ has paid the ultimate price by his death and resurrection, he has made the ultimate sacrifice so there would never be need for another. Don't forget that it was the Tribe of the Levites who where the Priests (intercessors)and had no inheritance that God commanded to receive tithes. In the new convenant Christ is the High Priest, made the ultimate sacrifice once and for all, He is the only intercessor and no more need for levitical priests, Hebrews 7:11-12 made this clear. Tithing was part of the mosaic law or laws of Moses. infact there were three tithes required of the isrealites. WHAT IS THE TITHE ABOUT? 1. The Tithe is one-tenth of a person’s income: The references of tithe in the bible was never money but goods, fruits, meat, wine, oil, etc. which were produces of harvest of the land. I am yet to see any reference in the bible where tithe was paid as money but I know of 28 References in the bible of first fruits and they all referred to the above mentioned harvests of the land. As a matter of fact in Deut 14:22-27 God specifically commanded that if the location of his presence be too far for you to carry these foods, sell them into money, when you are close to the location, convert the money back into food and bring to his presence. 2. The Tithe existed before the law of Moses (Gen. 14:18-20; 2Cor. 9:6-7) The Tithe did not come with the law of Moses so it cannot go with the law Moses. It existed far before the law and will continue to exist far after the law. 3. The Tithe did not begin as a commandment, it began as a Kingdom principle delivered by revelation (Gen. 14:18-20). Nobody told Abraham to tithe, it was revealed to him by God God never commanded Abraham to give tithe, Abraham gave freely out of his will. like was mentioned earlier above, the only people that God COMMANDED to receive tithes were TRIBE OF LEVITES who were chosen Priests (Mediators/Intercessors) and had no inheritance. 4. Kingdom principles and revelations are universal in application (Mark 13:37) ?? Out of context ?? 5. Time does not change Divine principles and revelations (Gen. 17:1; Matt. 5:48; 2Cor. 13:11) ?? Out of context ?? 6. Tithing was confirmed and commended by the Master in the New Testament (Matt. 23:23; Luke 11:42; Lev. 27:30). Not after the Masters death and his resurrection which ushered in the New covenant Christianity. Again, How come the new testament has no record whatsoever of any disciple of Even Christ himself paying tithes. 7. The Tithe was validated by Paul the Apostle in the New Testament [Heb. 7:1-8] Here Paul was trying to make a connection between Christ and Melchizedek who was a mysterious Priest, so great that Abraham paid tithe to him. And please read further to [Heb. 7:11-13] and see Paul afterall saying that if the Levitical Priesthood was perfect there would have been no need for a different kind of priest to appear and of course a change in the law. Remember Christ is the High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. In my opinion, I think if you feel good paying tithes and not out of compulsion, you can go on paying. I would rather pay 10%, 5% or 30% to my neighbour whose children I noticed have stopped school or to the very poor around me who can barely feed. |

http://punchng.com/patience-jonathan-was-arrogant-as-first-lady-ex-us-ambassador/ A former United States Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, has described former President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience, as being arrogant and flamboyant when she was Nigeria’s first lady. In a piece he wrote on Friday, ‘Nigerian President Buhari’s Sisyphean Efforts’, and posted on Council on Foreign Relations’ website, Campbell also wondered how Jonathan’s wife became wealthy having spent most of her life as a civil servant. The ex-US envoy stated, “Patience Jonathan as the first lady was flamboyant, arrogant, and widely disliked. She has yet to be convicted of a crime. However, it is curious how a person who spent most of her career in public service could accumulate an acknowledged $35 million in a poor country.” The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is currently investigating Jonathan’s wife and has frozen four bank accounts belonging to her, while some property belonging to her have been seized. Among other actions taken by the EFCC was the freezing of Jonathan’s $35m. The former first lady also claimed that the EFCC had frozen bank accounts belonging to some of her relatives, including that of her late mother, and accused the anti-graft agency of waging a “psychological war” against her for supporting Jonathan’s re-election bid in 2015. Speaking on President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption fight, Campbell said, “There is pushback against President Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign, especially among the opposition Peoples Democratic Party. Some claim that Buhari is using the EFCC to go after his political enemies. In the predominately Christian parts of the country, there are also murmurs that the anti-corruption campaign is part of a Muslim effort against Christians. “The Committee on Public Petitions in the House of Representatives has issued a warrant for the arrest of Magu(EFCC boss) because of his failure to appear before them with respect to a petition by Patience Jonathan. The committee’s move appears to be led by southern, Christian, PDP representatives.” According to him, there is a tradition in Nigeria of presidents using the EFCC and other anti-corruption agencies against their political enemies. “While it is true that under President Buhari, most of the high-profile investigations have been of PDP former officials in the Jonathan administration who are predominately Christian, these people were also, of course, in positions where they could loot public funds. Further, Christians dominated the Jonathan government, though the EFCC has also investigated Sambo Dasuki, Jonathan’s Muslim national security adviser, who remains under house arrest,” Campbell noted.

https://www.google.com.ng/amp/www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/237045-alleged-corruption-im-ready-go-jail-ex-minister-diezani-alison-madueke.html/amp Former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, who is being investigated for a series of multi-billion dollar fraud and money laundering offences in Nigeria, the United Kingdom and America has threatened to squeal on his co-conspirators, Kola Aluko and Jide Omokore. She said after opening up on everything that transpired in the controversial fraudulent transactions, she would be ready to be thrown in jail along with her co-conspirators. Mrs. Alison-Madueke explosive comment is contained in a recorded conversation recovered by investigators probing the corruption allegations against the former minister. Details of the conversations have now been filed as part of a civil complaint by the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) seeking the forfeiture of over $144 million slush fund. The trio of Mrs Alison-Madueke, Mr. Aluko and Mr. Omokore were listed as persons of interest in the civil complaint filed at the US District Court, Houston, Texas. The complaint revealed how the three individuals laundered millions of dollars on behalf of Mrs Alison-Madueke, which was used in buying properties in the US and the UK for her family in return for oil contracts to Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Ltd (AEDC) and Atlantic Energy brass Development Ltd (AEBD), two shell companies owned by Mr Omokore. In the conversation with Mr Aluko recorded by herself on May 14, 2014, a clearly angry Mrs Alison-Madueke, admitted to helping his co-conspirators secure the multi-billion dollars Strategic Alliance Agreements (SAAs) deals. In another conversation with another unknown recipient, the former minister dared Mr. Aluko to reveal details of their dealings, and then face the consequences. She was however furious at how the ostentatious acquisitions of Messrs Aluko and Omokore might have led law enforcement agencies across the world to their shady dealings. She was particularly mad at Mr Aluko’s acquisition of a the Galatical Star, a $80 million “super yacht”, warning that he could have rented a yacht for two weeks instead of buying one. “You and Jide [i.e., OMOKORE] had some of the most support that we could possibly give. At a time when we’re not doing anything else, we stuck our necks out regarding the SAA and we supported it. [INAUDIBLE] How the two of you have ruined it is incredulous and incredible to all of us,” she said. “I spoke to you several times about your general behaviour, acquisition of assets, etc., asking you to be a bit more careful because [INAUDIBLE] will start following you. I remember we had this open discussion more than once. You kept telling me that there was no issue because you did it in a certain way, you did it in a certain—and I kept telling you that it doesn’t matter how you do it. “Once you start acquiring, acquiring, acquiring at a certain level, then you’ll be—whether you like it or not, whether it was done in the most transparent—you understand?— manner or not, because they will want to trace where it came from. This is an age of terrorism, “If you want to hire a yacht, you lease it for two weeks or whatever. You don’t go and sink funds into it at this time when Nigerian oil and gas sector is under all kinds of watch, as we have been for some time, and where Atlantic [i.e., AEDC and/or AEBD] itself has been the subject of all kinds of speculation,” she said. Apparently while the trio allegedly schemed to launder billions of naira that should have accrued to the Nigerian government all was not well with them. In the recorded conversation, Mrs Alison-Madueke, in response to speculations that Mr Aluko was going to blackmail her, threatened to spill the beans. She said she was ready to reveal to Nigerians all that happened and was ready to follow Messrs Aluko and Omokore to jail. “I said tell him [i.e., ALUKO] to bring everything out, and then you know what will happen? No problem, I will be happy to escort all of you to jail along with myself. I said, in fact, you’ll be shocked by what I will do. Because when it comes to that, I will come out and tell the Nigerian people this is what happened. “Oh, yes, I will blame myself, but it [INAUDIBLE] place and everything. Anything they want to say, I am happy to go. But I will come out openly and say it so that they can judge me openly. And then all of us go and sit on the gate. Let us see who survived [INAUDIBLE], me or you,” she said. Mrs Alison-Madueke also acknowledged that the furniture she was given by the duo of Messrs Aluko and Omokore was not worth more than $4million. “The furniture they gave me didn’t come to more than four million dollars, altogether. [INAUDIBLE] it is truth. I was with [INAUDIBLE],” she admitted. Mrs Alison-Madueke, who is reported to be receiving treatment for cancer in the United Kingdom, is already facing a series of multi-billion dollar fraud-related investigations by Nigerian and UK authorities. Last February a Federal High Court in Lagos ordered the forfeiture of N34 billion linked to her but stashed in several Nigerian banks. Mr Omokore, an oil businessman, alongside some top officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is facing a nine-count charge of criminal diversion of about $1.6 billion of proceeds of sales of petroleum products belonging to the Nigerian government. The Nigerian government is also seeking a world-wide freeze of multi-billion dollar assets owned by Messrs. Aluko and Omokore. The assets include a $80 million “Super Yatch”, the Galatica and three private jets.

Newly obtained documents have shed more light into how the official residence of the embattled chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, was paid for. The documents showed that Ibrahim Magu’s apartment was paid for and furnished by the Federal Capital Territory Administration. The additional details provide further backing to a fact-check published by this newspaper over the weekend that highlighted the falsehood in a security report the State Security Service forwarded to the Senate to frustrate the confirmation of Mr. Magu. New Director General of SSS, Lawan Daura Director General of SSS, Lawan Daura. Further investigations have since shown that the SSS actually sent two contradictory reports; one recommending Mr. Magu’s confirmation and the other saying he would be a liability to the anti-corruption war if cleared for the post. Nigerian senators last Friday declined to approve President Muhammadu Buhari’s nomination of Mr. Magu, who has been functioning in acting capacity since November 9, 2015, because he failed a purported security screening. The SSS screening report, which was later sighted by this newspaper, made allegations of fraud, lavish lifestyle, insubordination and racketeering against the acting head of the anti-graft agency. A particular claim in the report was that Mr. Magu suddenly assumed a lifestyle well above his take-home pay. The SSS said the EFCC chief paid about N40 million for an apartment in the exquisite Abuja neighbourhood of Maitama. But documents obtained after the Senate’s refusal to confirm Mr. Magu show that the SSS might have failed to properly check its fact before presenting it to the Senate. Mr. Magu’s apartment, which the SSS said was acquired with questionable proceeds, was actually paid for by the FCTA through a contract award on March 30, 2016. The contractor, Valcour SA Nigeria Ltd., had entered a bid to furnish the apartment with a total of N43.8 million on March 29, 2016. The firm calculated the bill as N9.8 million for furniture, N1.5 million for plumbing and N414,500 for electrical work and carpentry. Nigerian Senate Nigerian Senate Other activities to be carried out in the apartment, according to the contractor, included purchase and installation of new television set and cable for N1.28 million, window blind for N1.18 million and security, utility and gym equipment for N1.5 million. Twenty-eight million was budgeted for a two-year rent of the apartment which was described as ‘Rudolf House’ in the document. In a letter dated March 30, 2016, the proposal was approved by the municipal authorities in Abuja. The letter, with reference number AMMC/ADM/907, and signed by Ibrahim Gusau, Secretary, Tenders Board at Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, read as follows: “I am directed to inform you that provisional approval has been given for an emergency award of contract to your company in line with PPA Section 42 (1b and 1f) for rent of residential accommodation for security operatives (EFCC) for two (2) years and furnishing same at the total sum of 43, 800.00 (Forty Three Million Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) only with completion period of 6 (six) weeks for furnishing. “You are requested to proceed with the service and note that the notification of provisional award is subject to notification by the Federal Capital Territory Administration Tenders Board. “Accordingly, I am directed to inform you also that “the contract or any part thereof shall not be transferred, sublet or assigned to any person/body in any way. “You’re requested to indicate in writing your acceptance or otherwise of the award and thereafter report to the Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) for further instruction. The legal unit (AMMC) is similarly informed by a copy of this letter for their information and records.” Valcour SA accepted the offer in a letter sent the next day, March 31. A total payment of N43,800,870 was made to the firm through a Zenith Bank account. Payment was made to the contractor through electronic transfer by the Central Bank of Nigeria. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/218424-exclusive-contrary-to-sss-claim-documents-show-how-fcta-paid-for-magus-official-residence.html
