It is no news that a piece of information is running through social media, facebook precisely about the fact that Jackie Chan the popular cheorographer, singer and Actor is dead as a result of heart failure. A facebook page,"R.I.P. JACKIE CHAN" which attracted a millions of "likes" and condolence messages actually gave the rumour a traction by giving people a believable reason for his death. According to it: “At about 11 a.m. ET on Friday (June 12, 2015), our beloved actor Jackie Chan passed away. Jackie Chan was born on April 7, 1954 in Hong Kong. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.” Condolence messages started triping in on the page and within some hours, thousands condolence messages had been written. Recent poll conducted by celebrity post showed that not fewer than 74% of people took Jackie Chan to be dead. Could this be true that Jackie Chan is dead? On Saturday, June 13, Jackie Chan's reps officially confirmed that Jackie Chan is not dead but instead, he is healthy and agile. He also warned people not to always believe whatever is written on the social media. Some fans are angry with this rumour while some took it to be a show of how popular he is all over the world. Finally, Jackie Chan has joined the league of Artiste that are "killed" by the internet before their death. Politics › My Administration Has Performed Very Well – Aregbesola by emaculate99(op): 9:30pm On Jun 09, 2015 |
Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, said on Tuesday that his administration had performed creditable well despite its inability to pay some workers in the state for the past seven months.
According to a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Tuesday by his media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, the governor, who scored himself high, spoke during a courtesy visit to him by Osun Action Strategy and Development Group.
He, however, said he was pained by the inability of his government to pay workers, but also sympathised with workers while assuring them that the hardship would soon come to an end.
The statement read, “Despite the financial shortage, even the most virulent critics of this government cannot deny that the administration has performed creditably well.
“This government built roads, schools, supplied students with Opon Imo (Tablets of Knowledge) distributed uniforms to all public students in the state, created welfare programmes for the old and vulnerable people as well as support farmers.
“No state has done what Osun did in the area of security, which today has totally checked crimes and other anti-social activities in the state. Huge amount of money was committed to purchasing armoured personnel carrier and ambulances, which are strategically located in the state and responding to distress calls round the clock.
“If all the programmes with the huge cost involved are factored into the accrue-able revenue to the state, it will be crystal clear why the state is where it is today.”
Describing the situation as an economic tragedy, he attributed the current misfortune to gross mishandling of the nation’s economy by the last regime of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He stated that the unchecked oil theft under the PDP, in which the nation was losing 400,000 barrels per day, culminated in drastic reduction of oil price in the international market.
This price fall has created for the country a tragedy of huge proportion that translated to economic disaster, pains and agony for the workers across the country.
Aregbesola stated the state collected N5 billion as monthly allocation in February 2013 but the allocation drastically reduced to a mere N540 million in April 2015.
He said further, “As we are trying to find solution to this challenges, we must not also run away from what brought us to this situation.
“For those who think this is an opportunity to pillory us in this economic condition, I pity them. Only God does not fail. We shall overcome; we shall recover from this challenge. I sympathise and feel for the workers. I appeal to them to bear with us as we work assiduously to end this problem. I assure them that the period of agony will soon be over.
“It is disheartening for people to work and such work fails to translate into wages. It is a harrowing experience for both workers and government.
“The challenge of unpaid salaries should not be seen as opportunities by some to pillory either the government or any others facing the same challenges.” http://www.punchng.com/news/my-administration-has-performed-well-aregbesola/ |

princesa: Review... Can I?
Poem Diction: simple and easy to understand. Its theme is not far fetched. It borders on the political scene in Nigeria.
Its a free verse no doubt, and has element of repetition. This gives it a rhythm of some sort.
You portrayed your emotional state lucidly that leaves no one in doubt of how truly you feel.
Its a good poem. Is it your first? No, this is not my first poem but I wish to develop myself. thanks very much for the review |

Poems For Review › Madness Fever by emaculate99(op): 9:08am On Jun 02, 2015 |
Sagaciously and graciously! None ever said but all is said To be good Good? $1 equals 200 naira Salaries left unpaid People living under $2 per day Leaders keep embezzling While we keep suffering
If madness we have And stealing we enter Because of the "good" nature Of our country Just for us to place a cup of tea and bread On our table Restrictions belong to us And yet they are not punished! They are left to play freely Stealing they said is not corruption Then why punishing the masses If the leaders go scot free
If madness I must have, Let me be the man Changing the day and not the day changing me Let me be the man who belong to not only everybody but nobody A man who says stealing is corruption And not mere stealing A man who is ready not only to delete but exterminate corruption A man who cares to hear and not to hear from anyone Change! We seek! Transformation! We want! But can this happen without an immaculate mind Who is ready to emaculate* all emaculatable He, whose robe isn't tainted by palm oil but washed with hypo
If madness they would have, Let them prey on me Trail me and try to assassinate me No weapon, I said Like the biblical teke teke, Formed against me shall prosper.
If madness they must have, Let them soak what had been emaculated into palm oil all over again Let them pour wine on the immaculate nature of the emaculated But let them know That another person shall rise again and whose might shall be like of a legion And voice like the shout of battle on battle field! No one but the emaculated fellows shall escape His wrath!
* emaculate means to clear a spot. #emaculate 2015 I just finished this, I will like you to review it pls 3 Likes 1 Share |

Seriously, this is unfair. the driver should be arrested and prosecuted accordingly because his action is like telling people that they have no freedom of speech and that all other drivers should do the same for all protesting individuals. if he is not punished, other drivers will take this as precedent and more of this would happen. this will in turn lead to violation of freedom of speech and dangers to protestants. |

EHITZ: I can bet that this mindset of yours will change when you get into the field. You will end up withdrawing this statement. Because your parents are still footing your bills, you come here talk. Just give it a while. even when you get to law school, they will teach you in "Law in Practice" class that a lawyer is entitled to whatever he earns in as much as there are scale of charges for legal practitioner. you are getting it wrong. I don't say that they shouldn't earn what they want to earn. I am saying that people should know this cos of some people who act as lawyers to dupe the people and some lawyers who are not following the law code of conducts . In "law in practice" you won't be taught how to cheat the masses but to protect the masses and the code of the practice of law in the society. |
