@Emmane, now that you know the reason, you can tackle & explain all that was stated, seems your note came early, it shows you requested 1st of September.

I requested via GCMSNow immediately i got my refusal 18th August... And exactly 1month, it came in.

Oga,

I can't feel the pain of your delay but I definitely understand how it feels.

With the notes, you can see that it doesn't have anything to do with your studies yet they ticked purpose of visit which means so many things are characterised with the word 'purpose of visit'

Like the @thesoj said earlier on,i think you will have to work on it again and make sure you clarify this points you gave in your new SOP with a kind of Clarification pointing these things to the VO.

It's possible maybe they aren't convinced enough.

It is well my brother.

Thanks Guzenaira,

I do really appreciate.... Looking from the notes, it's more like "POF" ish ONLY which is easily trashed. As easy as it may sound, most people just dont hv sponsors.... Wheeewwww. It's well.

Thanks once again.

Gurus, see this..... My Notes just landed.

I guess this CIC people just do what they like.... I cannot say much but well, everything happens for a reason.

I am sure they didnt go through the additional documents I provided, like parent's Retirement Letter from Government (this alone should make them know that funds wont come in as it used to during service year but property documents worth more N30m was included), Source of funds was Sales of Property with the Property Sales Deed included, my employment letter (been working for 6yr+ and a fair enough remuneration to serve as economic ties). Been denied visa once and it was stated, and haven't travelled out before. A detailed SOP stating purpose of visit with Dad's sponsorship letter stating source of funds with proof inclusive. What do they want again? Why was purpose of visit even ticked at the 1st place?

Apparently, when pressure is much, I think they just do anyhow, without having to check every document provided of them. Wheeewwww.... CIC. It's well with them o.

Hello Gurus,

I have a query...

These WES guys never respond to inquiries made via their site. How can someone contact them.

I want to know if update progrmmaes like Continuous Professional Development (CPD) can be evaluated. There are professional Certifications optained during practice - med.practise. They are Post-Grad. Certificates. Can these certificates be evaluated, and will it count as part of Educational Credentials for EE - CIC??

NB: You said you got info here about 7 years ago and u couldn't even come back to share ur experience with those of us(upcoming ) until u need info for ur younger brother, that's not fair at all. Imagine if everyone does that how will this GREAT thread continue? That's just my view sha.

@mcobex: Thanks for replying and no vex. I did share my experience at the time but I was certainly not a guru like some of you. More so, over time my information is bound to become irrelevant. For instance, back then there were no biometrics or VFS. Now that I have signed back in, I can answer some questions that some of you have about Canada in general. I'm in Ontario btw (Greater Toronto Area).

This is great... Info na Info as long as it's correct and it edifies. So for most of us coming down to ON, any healthy tip on how to settle and kick off? As an Elder in that land, you are in a very good position to put us through.

I guess you specialize in banning people for their opinions, I will not be surprised. My opinions are correct and borne out with evidence of high delay among PGD applicants when compared to Masters and PHD students. Term it negativity, I don't think so, I have no bone of negativity in me, I actually pride myself in my sheer sunny views on life. I am one who tells you as it is, not someone who tells you only the things you love to hear.

Buttu Boss jnyuwa02, to say the least from 2017 Fall applications, I really havn't seen PGDs being denied. I can only recall one @Yomilicious. Cant recall anyone. And one moniker had his PGD approved, i mean APPROVED in a space of 3rd February (application date) to 20th February. Vast majurity of delays are even on the Mater degree programmes.

I just want to stress that ALL applications are treated differently. While I will agree that with PGD, you'll have a lot of convincing to do to the VO since it's usually not difficult to gain admission (except for the highly competitive PGDs like those in core medical fields), even M.Sc programmes will still need some serious convincing to do, that is why we all write SOPs to state our intents, and if things don't add up to the VO, a denial is inevitable.

Having said that, it's not your place to discourage anyone who wants to go for any programme he/she deems fit, as you may really not know the circumstances that informed his/her decision.

Cheers.

Long Post Alert..... Pardon me!! grin

PureRuby:
God has shown me mercy!
My visa has been APPROVED!!!
Let NL praise the Lord!!!

And you made this statement in Thread 12;
PureRuby:

Wow! I am very grateful for all the advice and contributions. Thank you all and may God grant us all our trv desires in Jesus Name, Amen.

I AM A YOUNG LADY grin

The truth is that all of us cannot come from money readily available homes and God in His infinite wisdom has called me into a humble background. Not all of us have the privilege of quickly obtaining loan, be it from banks or humans

Did He make mistake in awarding me this scholarship? NO! Under no circumstances should I be admitted to UWO due to low 2.2 grade, but just one application to a school, a supervisor was reading available and I was admitted without delay.

All i am trying to say is that, God has and will always use the foolish things of this world to confound the wisdom of men. He has made a provision of "explanation" for me in the cic request, if for any reason I feel i will not be able to meet up with the request.

I am totally with the option of obtaining loan to pay my tuition (me wan chop trv nah grin grin, who will not want to?)
But, if God doesn't permit me to borrow by not sending whom I could borrow from, I will not still be shake for I serve a God who has the heart of kings in His Hands and control them as it pleases Him, The God who rules over the affairs of men.
No man can cage God by a rule, not even canadian VOs.

I truly appreciate every of your contributions.
It shall end in praise.

I just want to say that with God ALL things are possible ..... As humans we may have our doubts but He said, ask anything and I will grant of you, that your joy may be complete (full). John 16:24. And if we can just believe (have faith), it'd be established.

@PureRuby, Congrats to you. Your faith worked for you.

More TRV approvals coming in In Jesus Name, Amen.

Peaceful night y'all.

This issue of leaving after program after completion of program as an excuse for denial is not becoming much, pls how can one tackle this? I think getting a court affidavit stating one will return can come in handy... Just my thought though... Sorry for the delay

Hey boss, I feel that the excuse of "leaving after programme, travel history aswell" once an app is delayed is just impoverished. The main reason could be finances, in this case. So payment of school fees, transfer of upkeep funds to @ibeli0 personal account and a concrete establishment of relationship with his 3rd party sponsor should have made this application sail through. And if these listed things were done, there would be no "leaving Canada after programme" excuse. Just my thoughts.

@ibeli0 please order for your GCMS notes. So sorry for the delay.

Good morning all

I got an update on my profile yesterday but no changes. This is the second time this update is occurring on my profile. The first update I had, many people on this thread shared testimonies about medicals and TRV the next day and day after. I am not worried but I believe its a sign of testimonies on this thread today or tomorrow.

I therefore declare medical and trv mails for the remaining days of this week.

#hopeful#Amen

Please how does this update show on the cic portal.... I really don't know! Is it under messages or where?

By the way, congrats in advance for the medical mail. God is working things for good for all of us.

Stay postive grin

Hello guys! Good morning from Toronto. So sorry for the late response. I have been trying to settle since I arrived.I used Egypt air and their service was impressive. There is nothin to worry about at the POE as no big deal at all infact it wasn't like how people Painted it, I was expecting a more drilling exercise but unfortunately I was proved wrong by the generosity shown by the officer smiley.the officers are all nice and friendly. I tendered my admission letters and the cic correspondence letter+passport and the questions goes thus :

What is the purpose of visit?
Is this your first time in Canada?
What is your undergraduate course?
The duration of the course?
Which school do you finished from and which city(when I told him lautech ogbomosho oyo state Nigeria, the pronunciation almost removed his tongue and he stated mocking me grin)
What graduate program are you going for
The duration of the course
What is the name of the school
What is the source of funding (self or government)
Jokes jokes jokes, the guy started making fun of me infact through out my chat with him, he only went true my funding letter he didn't bother to check my acceptance letter and the correspondence letter,he didn't give me the opportunity to answer the above questions he ended up answering those questions himself and never bother me at all, all I did was just to smile when he ask and immediately answer himself lol. Non of my luggage was checked everyone was able to collect their permit without stress and I wasn't even asked the amount of my PTA or if I came in with any . The experience was awesome and stress free shocked. Free wifi is available at Pearson international airport so you can easily connect to speak with your loved ones at home. The weather here is still the same sunny weather in naija just that it changes in the evening/night but not too bad tho. All you need is courage and smile. Lastly, anyone coming tru MM airport after your luggage has been weighed should immediately padlock your box and make sure you didn't put any valuable tins in the pockets or other external spaces in your box. Although I locked the main place in my box but other sides that can't be locked I kept some few things in it and discovered like two zips where partially opened when I went to claim my bags at the final destination in Toronto, few things was stolen in my bag but I thank God it is not something that useful. They also ended up damaging my box as well, they turned my box from 4legged to 3legged box,all thanks to those guyz at MM airport , please be careful and take caution.I wish everyone all the best and it will surely end in praise.

Very informative..... Thanks as we would take precautions especially at MM Int'l. Chaiiii ... Lagos people and Zero chill. Nigerians will NEVER change. If to say u put money there or something expensive, na so them for open office for your head. Thanks AY once again.

I have a bachelor of arts in French language with a cgpa of 4.22 I can not possibly go for a certificate program in French translation.I have my colleague and my course mate presently in the same school, studying the same course.I believe the actual reason for refusal would be stated in the gcms note. Will let you guys know once I get that. Thanks
quote author=yemdogg post=56358272]

This is also not convincing. Masters in French Language is for people who are advanced in french language and as such, your argument would have hold much water if he was going for a certificate program which would have probably given him a foundation in the language of french. However, If he is trying to learn french for the purpose as stated by you, then a masters degree in french is too advanced for him and a bit far-fetched.

I align my thoughts on this to that of @austinpee4. I think he hit the bulls-eye.

Boss,

Simple.

Bring your USD to Canada. Then go to the bank you want to open an account with and exchange it there at a good rate. Please, use the bank here for your conversion if you no want waste USD. I got mine for 1.208cad to 1usd (that is, for every 1000 usd, i got 1208cad), while exchange booths were giving 1cad to 1 usd

If you read back, I did a bit of explaining about that.

So no worries.

Mazi... I sight you. Thanks a bunch. But let me ask, what if I bring ££ as that's the most likely case. Would that be okay? I mean banks over there accept? Do you know their conversion? Is it possible to make such findings 4me. Cuz it's gonna be a very painful thing to loose so much in the name of buying black market.

Thank Mazi 1.

Hey guys.... I just confirmed that PTA is not gotten for other currencies but USD, GBP and Euro.

So please, what would you advise be?
- Get PTA in USD? @360ngn/usd
- Buy CAD from black market or Bureau de change almost @300ngn/cad

If PTA is gotten, would Bureau de change sell cad to you with usd here in Nigeria?? What will be their rate? USD to CAD.

Is is easy to buy CAD with USD over there in Canada?

Finally..... what would your advise be on obtaining CAD before traveling. And how about those with Dom acc funded with other currencies like ££ and €€.

Those who traveled there from Nigeria would do best in answering this.

Thank you.

To become a Canadian citizen after gaining PR status, you have to have spent 1,460 days during the six years right before the date you sign your application and 183 days during each of four calendar years that are fully or partially within the six years right before the date you apply.

That's about 4 years out of 6 years, not 10 years. Read up on it on CIC's website.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp

Dammi, gracias..... I had to go to readup the link you posted. So now we know the 10yrs residency to gain citizenship is not applicable to Canada, but its a normal thing i learnt donkey years ago back in primary abi secondary sch, lol.

@above, WRONG!

For Canada, according to what is written on CIC's website, you must have been physically present in Canada as a permanent resident for at least:

- 1,460 days (4 years) during the six years right before the date you sign your application
-183 days during each of four calendar years that are fully or partially within the six years right before the date you apply

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp

*** I think it will soon be amended to 3 years instead of 4 years once it is approved by the senate***

https://www.cicnews.com/2017/06/changes-canadian-citizenship-act-to-become-law-069241.html

Hey Boss,

Thank you for this. I never went through CIC website to know about this but just to buttress on what I wrote earlier, there r certain criteria to fulfil to gain citizenship. Its is not an automatic thing to gain citizenship immediately after studies in Canada.

My assumptions where based on social studies background knowledge of gaining citizenship in country, that the fellow must reside up to 10yrs. I think it still holds in some countries.

Well am not der yet o. But due to friends der and questioning. i knw If yhu were given 2yrs study visa. Yuu willl be given 2years study permit extension. After completion of the study.
Then. Yhu would had stayed more than three years. Yhu can now apply for citizenship passport if yhu so wish.
I stand to be corrected please.

IBB.

This is applicable to most of the countries if not all, including Nigeria. To gain Citizenship status in a country, you must have resided in that country for 10years and above. Then you and file in for citizenship. In some countries, you'll be placed on a exams and if passed, you'll be granted citizenship. Then you can get your passport.

What most people if not all who go for studies in Canada do is, after their studies, they'll be granted a post-study work permit. Usually 1yr work permit for a 1yr study and 3yrs work permit for a 2yr study. During their work permit, they do their IELTS and join the FSWP Express Entry Pool. At this point, with their very high CRS points because of the advantage of Canadian study/work/a valid job offer (these features shoots up CRS points), they'll be given an ITA, and eventually a Permanent Residence Permit Status. Now let me clear this, Permanent Residence permit is NOT citizenship. You are only free to reside and work and school as a citizen (as you won't be required to pay international fees in schools) with all the benefits of a citizen But the Citizenship status and passport. After 10yrs of stay, you can now File for Citizenship.

This is the best I know about the whole thing.

Regards.

Hey guys....

I was just on my own when I had a move to just enquire further on this EE thing. So i spoke with a good friend from this thread who's apparently also putting more eggs in the basket (Studies TRV/EE). So she advised that I check my CRS score and below is what I had. If i was serious, who knows, would have been given an ITA by now.

For those with plans to stay back in Canada and work, I'd advice, you try checking your CRS score and prepare for EE, you never know what you can get. For those who are yet to write English testing Exams like IELTS, you can put an assumed score, while checking your CRS, while working towards getting your IELTS. She further said, dual Intent wont hurt. While waiting for TRV, fetch another egg (EE) and put in the basket.

Goodluck to all TRV hopefuls. Me inclusive grin
