SamuelLoch: Congratulations! You'll be mobilised for service. If you're on campus, go to your admissions office to report it. Schools have different approaches to handle things like this.
Alternatively, you can apply for correction of course with NYSC. It's safer to visit your school first
I know that, UTMEs from 2017 no longer have this issue because the school is expected to fix it. Thank you boss . I will do just that |

Car Talk › Re: How To Avoid Catastrophic Engine failure by emmaobi2(m): 10:13am On Sep 28, 2021 |
GAZZUZZ qpost=106242130: what to do when you have been diagnosed with a failing/blocked catalyst?
Replace or gut the catalyst.
Gutting the catalyst means taking out the contents and leaving it empty.
At this point pls note your catalyst is still valuable even if it is blocked. Ensure you bag it up and take it with you
You could make as much as ₦30,000-₦150,000 on those defective catalytic converters
In this economic times be smart
How will u make money from the defective catalyst? |

Powersurge: I started with Python Programming. And I started with my phone (SoloLearn).
BUT i will advise you to start with Excel and try to have a laptop.
If you love reading, you can download Excel Bible. If not, you can search for Edureka tutorial on YouTube. Download the files they use in the tutorials (you will find them in the links under the videos). Follow along RELIGIOUSLY. note your aim is to know. "Not to carry name for head"
I have been gathering my lectures since about 3 years now. You can start now. Work for free. Thanks sir |

Part of vital skill for this age is how to fish out information online with minimum supervision which we don't pay attention to with even the answer staring at us at our front . Also ,you don't need to even have seen a computer in your undergrad to be an IT specialist, courtesy of Internet. It all about your own personal effort now Thanks for d link I will check it out now |

Good evening nairaland!! Trust we all had a good day ? Okay ok Let me quickly go straight to the reason why I created this thread .
So am currently a student in one of the federal universities of agriculture in Nigeria, studying Agricultural education . Am in penultimate year in school, although we are currently on holiday and for this reason,I have been thinking critically when bored . My main reason for thinking is that ,
I wanna go into data analysis i.e IT skill, but my fear is that I don't have any background, neither do I know where to start from . Which is my I have come here to seek for advice from professionals in the house . I have the following questions:
1) can I go into data analysis with a background and first degree in Agric education
2) Will I be able to get jobs without comp sci degree
3) How do I start ?
4) any recommendations for the best IT training school in Nigeria preferably in Lagos
5) How lucrative is data analysis
6) Is there any online training I can get basic s pending when I will be done with uni
Pls I humbly request that you go through this and give your opinion or advice also answers to my questions . I will love to hear from my ogas in d house undecided
I will be grateful if this can hit front page so everyone can contribute .. Thank you as you help me build my dreams and almighty God bless you all . |

Richy4: What you have to ask yourself is this.... am I going into this because of the passion I have for data digging or just for employment/ the money...If it was for the passion, you will enjoy it and also get paid well for what you like... if it's just for the money.... it might bore you to death..It's very very boring and gets monotonous... https://medium.com/bigdatarepublic/data-science-is-boring-1756a7be1899
As for job opportunities, u will be needed around the world... Even if u did not travel out of the country, thanks to covid-19, you might land a remote employment( working from home even when the company you were working for is in US , UK or Canada) as data analyst I understand you .. thanks for your input |

Powersurge: I can't tell you if you should choose this career path or not. But fhere things I can tell you about it.
I studied Agricultural Economics. And I am currently working as a data analyst. Unlike you, I came to the party late as I finished my schooling almost at 30.
When I was using my certificate to work, the highest offer I got was 70k. Now I am working with skills I thought myself and I am earnng more than twice that amount.
Data analysis is an infant field in Nigeria and there are opportunities globally. Notwithstanding, that doesn't mean there are no competitions. The major ingredient to landing a good DA job is experience. Hence, if you want to start, start now. Work for free if you must. Two years experience in the field will make sure you are not STRUGGLING to get an offer. 3-4 years will enable you to change jobs when you like (pls like everything, it's not a bed of roses).
Another ingredient for a successful career in this industry is intelligence. You need to have analytical mindset. DA is about problem solving. You need to learn how to ask the right questions and derive solutions. You can submit all the applications in the world in this field without a single response. Until your cover letter carries some works you have done and solutions you have brought to organisations. Hence, the place of HARD experience. You must love statistics and probability. While the ones you have learnt in school will take you 60% along (that's if you are not la cram la pour)), you must constantly learn trending mathematical concepts, DA methodologies etc)
In addition, skill set. If you have knack for knowledge, you will discover that the more you Know, the more you need to know. Over 60% of DA in Nigeria are actually Excel analyst. While in most industries Excel can do 100% of the work, you must keep working on your skill set.
Start with Excel. Learn it upto VBA level (though you will not need VBA 98% of the time). Pick Python Programming, SQL (MySQL or MSSQL), PowerBi or Tableaux. With these, you are good to go.
I am almost certain that with time, you wil pick interest in Machine learning, web developmen etc.
Where to start from? YouTube. It has 80% of the materials you will need. You can also try W3Schools, SoloLearn. For paid courses and certification (which I have not done), try Coursera. Note, what you need is skills not pali. Forget d yeye concepts of having pali.
I can take you Python for DA and all its libraries-not free not cheap.
PS: if you can't do presentation or talk before people, you may need to think twice before going into DA. Please sir how did you start? am currently studying agric education, but I HV been wanting to go into data analysis since Tho I have been told that I can't bcus I don't have any background in data related stuffs ,But your comment inspired me. I need advice |
