CrimeWoman Killed In A Crossfire During Ogun Elections (photo) by EmmyBlogs(op): 10:44am On Mar 12, 2019
According to a report by Punch Metro, there was pandemonium in the Ogere-Remo area of the Ikene Local Government Area of Ogun State during the governorship and state House of Assembly elections on Saturday as a stray bullet hit and killed a mother of six, Oluwakemi Adeoye, during an exchange of gunfire between suspected political thugs and security agents.

It was gathered that the hoodlums created a tensed atmosphere along the Oja-Ale Road as they attempted to snatch the Independent National Electoral Commission’s ballot boxes from the Town Hall Collation Centre/Polling Unit in Ward 6, Ogere-Remo.

Police operatives and soldiers stationed in the area were said to have exchanged gunfire with the hoodlums in a bid to prevent them from snatching ballot boxes.

In the ensuing confusion, Oluwakemi, who was being conveyed by a motorcyclist from where she went to buy foodstuffs, was allegedly hit by a stray bullet.

An eyewitness, who did not want his name mentioned, said a clash between the Lemo group and the Luku group led to the crisis, adding that one of the mobile police officers stationed in the area allegedly fired the shot that killed Oluwakemi.

The 31-year-old said, “There had been issues between the Lemo group and the Luku group; so, on the election day, both groups accused each other of misconduct and attacked each other.

“The woman was on a motorcycle and immediately she and the motorcyclist passed the Methodist Church, the mobile police officers stationed in the area ordered the motorcyclist to stop and out of fear, he quickly turned. All of a sudden, a bullet hit the woman and she died on the spot.”

A neighbour of the deceased, who identified himself simply as Akande, said the 45-year-old trader could not be rushed to the hospital because passersby and the motorcyclist ran away due to the ensuing tension.

The deceased’s husband, Matti, said he was at home when he got a call that his wife had been shot dead, adding that he took her corpse to the Ogere Police Station, where the case was reported.

He said, “I was at home when I got a call that I should quickly come down to Oja-Ale because something had happened to my wife. When I got there, I saw my wife’s dead body. She had left home to buy what the family wanted to eat for the night, but had not even got to her destination when the stray bullet hit her.

“I was told that when the motorcyclist saw the policemen fighting the hoodlums, he turned back and it was at that point that the bullet hit her. I carried her corpse to the Ogere Police Station and wrote a statement.

“My wife’s family members have come around and we have buried her according to Islamic rites. She was the one taking care of the family because I am old; I am really worried as to how to take care of our six children.”

Oluwakemi’s elder sister, Morayo, while demanding justice, urged the Ogun State Police Command to investigate the incident that led to the victim’s death and to arrest the culprits.

“I want the police to help me get justice by investigating the matter and arrest those responsible for my sister’s death. I cannot tell my mother about the incident because I am scared that the news will kill her. I want the government to assist the family in raising the children she left behind,” Morayo said.

The deceased’s eldest child, Wasiu, 24, said he was still in shock over the development, adding that he and his siblings needed help to survive in the absence of their mother, who had been taking care of them.

When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident and said the security agents were not involved in the killing of the woman, adding that eight suspects had been arrested in connection with the crime.

Oyeyemi said, “The death of that woman had nothing to do with the security agents. What happened was that, in Ogere, there are two rival cult groups; one is headed by a man simply known as Luku Number One, while the other group is led by a guy known simply as Lemo.

“So, after the elections were concluded and the electoral materials were moved to the collation centre, the two groups clashed in the town and started firing at each other. It was in the process that the woman was killed by a stray bullet.

“It was even the husband who came to the police station to report the incident and immediately, the police and the soldiers moved in and were able to arrest eight suspects. The soldiers also arrested Luku, who happens to be the leader of one of the groups, and they took him away.

“The vehicle that he (Luku) was using that day was impounded. The police and soldiers were not at the scene as of the time the stray bullet killed the woman. The police asked the husband to bring the corpse so that a post-mortem examination could be performed on her remains, but he refused and went ahead to bury her.”

CrimeGang War Between Eiye And Aiye Cult Groups Leads To Death Of Three Persons. by EmmyBlogs(op): 7:56am On Mar 12, 2019
The bloody clash in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, on Sunday, March 10, 2019, which claimed three lives, was between members of two sworn arch rival cult groups, Eiye and Aye confraternities – is not politically-inclined crisis, the Ogun State Police Command has said.

The Command, through its Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, reacted to a trending news online that ascribed the violent clash to Politics, saying “The crisis was as a result of superiority battle between members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups within Ijebu-Ode and its environ which led to the death of three members of the cult groups, it has nothing to do with political developments in the State.

Meanwhile, a total of 22 suspects, said to be directly linked to the crisis that caused public disturbance in the area, have been arrested and undergoing interrogation.

This was even as the State Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that a forensic investigation be conducted on the suspects, to ascertain the level of involvements of each and everyone of them, adding that whoever was indicted to have played any role in the crisis, would be decisively dealt with within the ambit of the extant law, “no matter the status of such a person(s), because the law is no respecter of anybody”.

The CP also warned that any act that is capable of jeopardizing the prevalent existing peace, enjoyed by good people of the State, would be viewed with all seriousness.

According to the PPRO, the arrangement yielded fruit with the arrest of the 22 suspects from whom parcels of weed suspected to be Indian Hemp, expended cartridges and other incriminating items were recovered.

He further said that normalcy has since returned to the town.

CelebritiesI Almost Drank Acid After My Last Scandal - Actress Charity Nnaji Confesses by EmmyBlogs(op): 10:36am On Mar 09, 2019
Nollywood actress and former beauty queen, Charity Nnaji, has said she has yet to recover from the effect of some scandals she has had in the past.

Recently, Nnaji was called out for begging a socialite for money. The story went viral and she received a lot of insults from Nigerians. In an interview with Saturday Beats, she noted that she lost her last relationship in a terrible way because of the news about her online begging.

She said, “The man wanted to use that post to tarnish my image but interestingly, I became more popular after that scandal. I made good money from that post because people started supporting my non-governmental organisation. It has deprived me of so many things; I don’t want my past to affect my future.

“I almost drank acid after that post because he didn’t reveal the chat from the beginning. I sent that message to him about two years ago. I was so depressed; I had to stay offline for a while because the insults were too many.

“I am still trying to redeem my image from all these scandals because they have affected my relationship with people. There was a time I was in a meeting with a senator and immediately he entered my name on Google, he saw scandalous things about me. That moment, he refused to even take a picture with me. He was scared.

“The recent scandal about me begging for money online destroyed my last relationship. My ex-boyfriend felt I wasn’t satisfied enough with the money he was giving me. I tried to explain that the chat was an old conversation between me and the man, and that it had happened before I met him. It took me time to convince him. His friends were laughing at him, that his celebrity girlfriend was begging for money online. He said he was sleeping when his friends called him about the story, and that was the end of the relationship.”

As a former beauty queen and fashion model, one would think Nnaji would be open to romantic roles, she, however, noted that she doesn’t like such roles because her mother frowns at it.

“I don’t do bedroom scenes that suggest sexual intercourse because of my family background. I don’t like sex scenes because my mum warned me that she never wants to see me performing such roles. I am working towards producing my own movies so that I’ll be able to take the lead role sometimes.

“There was a time I acted a bedroom scene with a popular actor, it wasn’t funny because I had a crush on him so I couldn’t deliver my role well. If I have a crush on a male actor, I won’t be able to interpret the role well,” she said.

After she survived a car accident recently, she got bashed by some social media users, who accused her of not taking responsibility for her actions. She noted that she perceived envy in most of the comments and that she had got used to them already.

“I am still grateful to God that I survived that accident because it was God that saved me; I was coming back from a meeting at Gwarimpa axis in Abuja. It happened late in the night, the road was very free, so I decided to increase my speed a little. I lost control and then the accident happened within a second.

“It (the car) somersaulted once; people around could not believe I came out of the car unhurt. I was rushed to a hospital immediately to be sure I didn’t sustain any internal injuries. After I posted the picture on my social media platform, some people accused me of lying. I leave them to God.

“After the incident, some people came as though they were there to sympathise with me, but they were there to steal some of my belongings.

“I have seen so many scandals about me so I am not moved anymore by what people say. Most girls are envious of other people’s success. After the accident, some of them mocked me. When I got my car as a birthday gift, some of them insulted me, saying they didn’t believe a secret admirer gave me the car as a gift. They tagged me a hypocrite, forgetting that there are so many people in this world that have money to spend,” she told Saturday Beats.

CrimeKolawole Okunola: How I Escaped Beheading By Mob In Bayelsa by EmmyBlogs(op): 9:13am On Mar 04, 2019
A viral video showed a visibly-terrified police officer being dragged away by a furious mob, which later turned out to be DCP Kolawole Okunola, a Deputy Commissioner of Police on election duty. Daily Trust Saturday spoke to him on his experience on that day, and how he, in his own words, escaped death.

Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Bayelsa State, Kolawole Okunola, was abducted by armed thugs during the just-concluded presidential and National Assembly elections, in a harrowing incident that had the officer reveal that he was almost killed by the mob that violently tried to drag him away to an undisclosed location.

The officer, who was on election duties at the time he was dragged away, said he was seriously assaulted, and was at the point of being beheaded when succour came. “It was like what happens in an action film. They manhandled me, and I was attacked severally with clubs and was at the verge of being beheaded when I was rescued,” he told Daily Trust Saturday.

Sources revealed that it was the timely intervention, and efforts, of a Nigerian Army captain that saved Okunola, in the nick of time.

DCP Okunola, who had served in almost all the parts of the country, said that he was invited to the scene after armed hoodlums in large number attacked INEC officials who earlier arrived the community with electoral materials, in Bassambiri community, of Nembe Local Government Area.

Okunola said the hoodlums had reportedly hijacked – and allegedly carted away – electoral materials meant for seven wards in the area, and took them to a popular hotel in a bid to manipulate the results. It was learned that after they brought back the alleged fake results to the INEC office, another opposing group who were alerted of the development, started protesting.

Okunola said while the group was protesting, the armed thugs that earlier hijacked INEC materials arrived at the jetty accompanied by a great number of armed youths and insisted that INEC officials must authenticate the manipulated results before leaving the community. “Since I was on duty in the area, I was alerted to the scene after hearing loud noises coming from the INEC office. I later got to know that the noise was voices being raised by INEC Officials and party agents who were having had disagreement over election materials and results which was escorted by party agents from Bassambiri to INEC office. While the party agents were arguing that there were no elections in Bassambiri, and wondered why the results came from, I tried to calm them down, and ask that they write their petition to INEC, but all efforts proved abortive.”

Okunola said the number of the youths grew, and the INEC officials felt unsafe and demanded to be escorted to Yenagoa with the election materials. “Then in order to avoid imminent breakdown of law and order by the thugs around, I informed the Commissioner of Police of Balyesa and he directed that both officials of INEC and the materials should be moved to the state capital, Yenagoa, for safety. This was agreed with the military officers on duty,” he added.

It was however learned from another officer that it was in that process that party candidates led youths in a large number, and attacked Okunola, dragging and assaulting him with threats to kill him if he failed to direct the INEC officials to go back to the office and continue collation of results. “The INEC officials were forced back to continue with the collation of results under a very tense condition with sporadic shootings all over,” the officer said.

The officer also told Daily Trust Saturday that as soon as the thugs abducted Okunola, they dragged him to an unknown place where they subjected him to threats, torture, and severe beatings. In the process, his uniform, including its accoutrements, were torn to pieces. The youths were chanting war songs, and saying that the police officer must die. They later sat him down in a wooden box and brought out daggers and other dangerous weapons, in preparation of a beheading, in spite of pleas, and the intervention of an army officer.

While the army officer pleaded, it bought Okunola some time, said a source. “Luckily, while they were waiting for the final order by their leader to carry out their threat, mother luck smiled on Okunola, as a message came from one of them that INEC officials have gone back to authenticate the manipulated results. That was how they left the police officer and trooped to the venue to complete their mission,” he said.

Okunola, who reportedly regained his freedom around 11:00am that same day, was rescued by one of the police marine units that was already dispatched to comb the creeks for the missing officer, on the orders of the Inspector-General of Police. He was rescued and taken to AGIP by the Police Marine Unit, after which he headed back to his station.

It can be recalled that the Nigeria Police has, in the past few days, placed adverts in some national dailies praising Okunola as a hero, as the initial narrative was inaccurately portraying the situation.

I Don’t Associate with losers ,Reason why is this, can be poor&still be a winner, like Bolanle the pepper girl, she’s not rich but she’s got various skills at creating so she’s a winner, like My physically challenged Girls Gladys/mercyline who can’t speak nor hear& I trained them to be baddass tailor/hair Stylista, they create clothes for wizkid, tiwa etc they are winners.

They just needs capital to Blow bigger ,if you don’t have any skills you are a loser, losers Have nothing to offer ,losers need winners to Shine& losers focus on winners who don’t even see them or think of them, losers need to lie to make themselves feel good or for people to think they are on A High horse .

CrimeYoung Man To Die By Hanging For Killing Mum Over Charm Inheritance by EmmyBlogs(op): 9:35am On Mar 01, 2019
A High Court sitting in Jos, on Thursday, sentenced a 20-year-old man to death by hanging for killing his mother. The judge, Justice Nafisa Musa, handed down the sentence after she found the defendant, Agugu Adau, guilty of murdering his mother.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the convict committed the crime on Dec. 30, 2016 when he killed his mother for refusing to give him an “invisibility” charm he claimed was his inheritance from his late herbalist father

.Agugu committed the crime at his Kisaghyip village farm in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau.Agugu, after killing his mother, was said to have removed the sum of N20,000 from her blood-soaked clothes and used it to buy a mobile phone, a shirt and a pair of slippers.

The accused, who spoke with NAN, said he killed her because she refused to give him a charm that was his inheritance from his father.

When I was 14 years old, my late father, who was a native doctor, showed me a charm that enabled him to disappear and reappear at will. He promised to hand over the charm to me when I turn 18. On his dying bed four years ago, he gave my mother the charm and asked her to give it to me when I turn 18. But I am now 18 but she has refused to give it to me.

“On that fateful day at the farm, I asked her about it, but she threatened to throw the charm into the river if I disturbed her too much. Her response infuriated me and I suddenly felt that she was of no value to me as a mother. I immediately slaughtered her with the knife I was using to harvest potatoes. After slaughtering her, I dumped her body in the bush,” he said.

Mr David Adau, senior brother to the suspect, has however dismissed the suspect’s claim that he killed their mother because of a charm.

“Prior to the incident, the family had faced several problems with Agugu. He was fond of stealing and causing trouble. I believe he killed our mother because of the N20,000 I gave her a day before the incident. I work at the mines in Barkin-Ladi, and usually give my earnings to our mother to keep for me.

“I handed over the money to my mother in his presence. In fact when I gave her the money she expressed fear that Agugu could attack her to get the money. He has proved her right,” David said.

Adau said on his return from work a day after the incident, he asked after their mother but Agugu said he did not know of her whereabouts.

CrimeI Did Not Force Her’ – Man Who Engaged Underage Girl In Sex Romps In Lagos. by EmmyBlogs(op): 2:39pm On Feb 28, 2019
The police have arrested a 60-year old man, one Benjamin Omole, for allegedly engaging an 11-year old girl in sex romps in Surulere area of Lagos, where they reside.

It was gathered that Omole lured the victim into his apartment, removed her clothes and defiled her before allowing her to go but warned her not to tell anyone.

However, the matter got exposed after the parents noticed changes in the victim’s behaviour and body. She was confronted and she revealed that Omole, popularly called Baba, had been sleeping with her.

The matter was reported to the police in the area and Omole was arrested. The matter was later transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command for investigation.

It was gathered that the suspect, Omole, admitted that he slept with the 11-year old girl but narrated that he did not force her as claimed by her parents.

The police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which may attract several years in prisons if found guilty.

However, when the matter came up at the court, his plea was not taken after the prosecutor asked the court to ordere for DPP advice because the victim was a minor.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs O.Sule-Amzat, ordered Omole to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail. The court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

Therefore, Omole will remain in prison custody pending the outcome of DPP advice. And if the DPP finds him culpable, the matter will be transferred to the High Court for trial.
