A Lexus Jeep, on Sunday, plunged into the river on the Ijebu-Ode/Benin Expressway, Ogun State, killing a woman and injuring her daughter.

The Public Relations Officer of Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. and was caused by speeding.

He said the woman lost control while on motion and plunged into the river near. “I learnt the vehicle was coming from Lekki in Lagos to Ijebu-Ode when the accident happened.

There were two occupants in the vehicle; the driver who is a woman and her daughter, who is a student of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijebu Ode.

The woman was taking her daughter back to school. As a result of excessive speeding, the woman lost control of the vehicle and plunged into the river. The mom lost her life, while the daughter sustained injuries,” he said.

Repentant members of the Boko Haram sect have pleaded with Nigerians to forgive them for their nefarious activities over the years. The repentant sect members made the appeal after their graduation from a de-radicalisation exercise and vocational training organised for them by the Federal Government which took place at the former permanent NYSC Orientation camp in Mallam-Sidi town in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State yesterday April 3rd.


Bappah Mura, a former member of the sect who was once a farmer, said he was deceived into joining the group only to realise that all they were told were lies;

“I beg Nigerians for forgiveness. I regret totally what we were forced to do; it was not my intention but I beg for forgiveness. I was a humble farmer before I was deceived to join the Boko Haram sect. All they told us were different from all we were made to do; they lied to me and deceived many of us. My heart bleeds that we were used to destroy lives and property by the sect. But today, I am so happy that we have been trained and made to acquire skills in different ventures. I am grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian Army” Bappah said


In the same vein, a 62-year-old ex-Boko Haram member, Abana Ali, said he was sorry for everything, noting that they were also terrorised while with the sect until the army came to their rescue.

“I am deeply pained in the heart that we had been associated with such a devilish group; I beg Nigerians to forgive and accept us back. We were deceived and forced to join the sect; because of my age, I was not allowed to partake in their operations, but was made to do menial jobs in their camps; we were also terrorised and enslaved, until the Army rescued us.

“We are grateful to the Federal Government for the show of love; the de-radicalisation training has been helpful and now I do not need to go home to beg, but to contribute what I have been taught. Nigerian youths out there, I tell you the truth; there is no gain being Boko Haram members, except for regret and intense sorrow; we pray that no youth witness the harsh condition we were subjected to” he said

There was chaos at the Ibadan Polytechnic, this morning , following the yesterday stabbing of one Tobi Oyeniyi, who is the Sports Director of the National Association of Polytechnic Engineering Students (NAPES).

Oyeniyi was stabbed in the head by their opponents after his Faculty, the Faculty of Engineering (FENG) Queens, lost a football match to the Faculty of Business and Communications Studies (FBCS) Queens.

According to reports, some other students were also left injured, leading to today’s retaliation, which saw students escaping through a hole in the fence as more people were stabbed. .

The annual inter-faculty football competition was held at the Sport Pavilion, North Campus of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

A young woman has been apprehended after pretending to be pregnant and ready for delivery. According to reports, last night, the Police arrested the lady in the maternity ward of Limbe health center in Malawi.

Before arrest, doctors tried to examine her, but she refused to be examined after several attempts.

Yesterday night, the nurses with the support of some guardians in the maternity wing, forced her to be examined. At that time she was undressed, it was discovered that the lady faked pregnancy.

She put some wrappers in her stomach, pretending as if she was pregnant.
She has since been detained at Limbe police pending to establish her motive behind the action. She is married, and blessed with one child. Her name is Filesu Leonard, she is 24 years from Munsiche village T/A Likoswe Chiradzulu in Malawi..

The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has significantly degraded an Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) Terrorists’ Hideout and neutralized some of its leaders and fighters at Magari on the fringes of Lake Chad in the Northern part of Borno State. This was accomplished in an air interdiction mission conducted yesterday, 1 April 2019, following credible intelligence reports indicating that some senior ISWAP leaders arrived the settlement on Friday, 30 April 2019, along with some of their fighters.

Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions conducted over the weekend confirmed increased level of human activities in the settlement with a prominent ISWAP flag observed near 2 compounds in the settlement indicating the presence of high level leaders of the Sect. Accordingly, 2 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft, supported by an ISR platform, were dispatched to attack the identified compounds within the settlement.

Overhead the target area, some terrorists were observed in the vicinity of the compounds. The bombs from the 2 Alpha Jets recorded direct hits on the target compounds resulting in destruction of several structures, which were seen engulfed in flames. Several of the terrorists were also neutralized in the process.

The NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, will sustain its operations against the terrorists in the Northeast.

A young lady who killed her two-year-old boy to make way for a romantic relationship with a new guy, has confessed to killing the boy and is asking for forgiveness.

According to Esi Gyaawa, when she had her first child, the father gladly took responsiblity so there was no burden on her, but the second (deceased) was a huge burden because the father failed to take custody of him.

This, she said, pushed her to end the poor boy’s life so she could have a clean sheet for a new romantic relationship. The deceased’s crime, according to earlier reports, was that he was a hindrance to his 18-year-old mother’s new relationship.

The unfortunate incident happened at Breman Brakwa, in the Asikuma-Odoben Brakwa district of the Central region of Ghana.

Adom News‘ Central Regional correspondent, Alfred Amoh, who followed the story, reported that the teenager drowned her son in a bucket of water in her room.

He said a resident, who gave his name as KB, claimed he heard the young girl threatening to kill her son if his father did not come for him.Minutes after that, he said he heard Ms Gyaawa screaming for help only to find the boy lifeless with his head in a bucket of water.

KB noted that since the teenager found a new lover, her attitude towards the child changed prior to his death.

“KB told me the suspect leaves the two-year-old boy alone for about two days just to see her lover. The deceased has really suffered,” Adom News‘ Central Regional correspondent narrated.

Residents alerted the police about the incident leading to her arrest.

Ms Gyaawa is in police custody assisting with investigations.

Three young men have been arrested by the Police in Lagos for conspiring and inflicting injury on a young lady by pushing her out of a moving commercial bus over advances for sex.

The suspects were Ibrahim Opeoluwa, 20, Garuba Suleiman, 20 and Emmanuel Ololade, 20.

The incident reportedly happened on 30th March, 2019 at Abule Egun bus stop in Ipaja area of Lagos where they accosted the victim and she failed to cooperate with them.

According to the victim, Joan Nwugha, she met the suspects in the commercial bus and they discussed about love making which will involve the three of them. She refused and they became angry. Out of annoyance they forcefully pushed her out of the bus which was on motion and she was seriously injured.

She was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where she was treated as she suffered serious fracture on her leg. The matter was reported to the police and the victim informed the police that she knew the suspects and will be able to identify them.

Thus, the police moved into action; the suspects were trailed and eventually arrested. After interrogation, they were charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for the alleged conspiracy and assault. They pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, asked the Court to fix a date for hearing to enable the police to prove the matter.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 8th May, 2019.

A nine year old boy identified as Najeeb, the son to Alhaji Kamal A Abba, was killed through strangulation by unknown killers in Gadon Kaya area of Kano state.

It was gathered that the father met the son on the ground in an unconscious state, after receiving a phone call from the mother that Najeeb was found unresponsive.

After rushing him to the hospital, it was confirmed that the boy died through strangulation as some bruises were discovered around his neck.

The rope which was used to strangle the boy was also found at one of the doors in the house.

The deceased was buried on Friday, March 29th, according to Islamic rites. May his soul rest in peace.

Local security operatives have apprehended two cultists who specialize in attacking and robbing residents early in the morning in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

The suspects identified as Wasiu Okeowo, 23 years old and Rasheed Lawal, 19 years old.

They both confessed to that they are members of Eiye cult in Ijebu-Igbo.

Recounting his ordeal in the hands of his attackers to THE IMPACT, Abass stated that:

“I woke up around 4am and left home around 4. 45am but I was attacked at the Ladega junction on my way to Ikorodu garage.

“While I was at the Ladega junction, I saw these two guys (Raheed and Wasiu) passing by and suddenly they turned back and whistled as another two guys were coming in my front. I was, however, focused on where I was going and did not pay attention to them.

“It was those coming in the front that first held me before the other two (Rasheed and Wasiu) joined them and they started speaking in a language that I did not understand and I told them that I cannot understand them.


“While they held me down and made attempt to remove my phone and money from my pockets, I held on to the pocket where I have my phone and also tried to prevent them from removing the #45,000 cash in the other pocket”.

He explained that the money was his school fees given to him by his mum the previous day.

“While I was struggling and holding my two pockets tightly, Wasiu brought out a charm and wanted to hit me with it but I grabbed his hand with one of my hands while I used the other one to secure the pocket where I had my phone.

“It was while I was trying to prevent them from hitting me with the charm that they succeeded in removing the money”.

Abass said while he was struggling with his attackers, he started shouting “thief! thief!! thief!!!” while Wasiu was also shouting “thief” as well but that he held on to him.

“The shout of “thief” later attracted Onyabo men to the scene and when they could not ascertain the real thief and the victim since both of us were shouting “thief” at each other, they attempted running over us with their vehicle and I quickly jumped away while Wasiu was crushed.

“In order to prevent him from running away after he was hit by the vehicle, I jumped on him and held him to the ground before Onyabo men arrested both of us”.

A High Court sitting in Akure, Ondo state has sentenced to death the killer boyfriend Chukwudi Onweniwe of an HND student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, Nifemi Adeyeoye to death by hanging.

Chukwudi Onweniwe was dragged before the court in May 22 2017 on a four count charge of action endangering life, kidnapping and abduction, rape and murder. .

According to the Prosecutor, Jumoke Ogunjebi said the accused person abducted the deceased and took her “to a farm near Alayere, Ogbese, raped her and then snuffed life out of her by choking and strangulating her to death.

The police prosecutor, Inspector John Aderibigbe said that one of the motorcyclists who testified in the case reported the suspicious movement of the accused person and the deceased at the police station.

Aderibigbe said that the case was later transferred to Special Anti Cultism Squad in Akure. Testifying, the mother of the deceased, Mrs Adeyeoye said her daughter had informed her she was going to visit her friend on the day she went missing. Adeyeoye claimed she did not know the accused person though he was said to be her daughter’s boyfriend.

According to her ” l did not see my daughter again after she got missing until police men invited me to come to the mortuary to identify a corpse whether it was that of my daughter or not. Also giving evidences the two motorcyclists who saw the lover birds together on the ill fated day told the court that they conveyed them to a spot in town.

Justice Bola said that an autopsy was carried out by one Dr. Pelemo, a staff of Ondo state Specialist Hospital, Akure who described the abnormal state of the deceased’s neck and fracture of the skull. According to him “it suggested that the deceased had been attacked by an object with a blunt edge which led to her death. The judge stated that the accused person had confessed to the officers of the squad according to the testimony of one Ayoola Famoriyo and had taken his team to the spot where he hid the corpse of the deceased.

“There, the accused person had pointed to the spot where she kept the corpse and it was taken to the mortuary while the stone found near her head with which he had purportedly hit her skull was taken to the police station as an exhibit. “Famoriyo had further testified that a search of the accused person’s room had revealed the deceased’s belongings such as a school bag, wallet, some GNLD products, her phone and 22 passport photographs.

The father of the accused person Nwosu Onweniwe while giving evidence in defense of his son told the court that the deceased was his son’s girlfriend who had been very helpful to him.

Meanwhile, after examining all facts of the case, Justice Bola while delivering judgement said that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt in three out of the four count charges The Judge observed that the prosecution failed to prove the case of rape against the accused person.

He therefore found him guilty as charged on three counts and sentenced him as charged. Justice Bola declared that “On the count of kidnapping, he was sentenced to life imprisonment, on strangulating and choking, he was sentenced to death by hanging and on murder, he was also sentenced to death by hanging.

In a previous confession to the police, Chukwudi denied that he killed her for rituals as he claimed that he had killed her for the fun of it.

“I did not remove any part of her body; I only killed her for the fun of it. I made love with her in the bush before killing her. I am not a cultist. It was when I killed her that I realised I made a big mistake and I wept bitterly,” he said.

He added that the devil pushed him to do it.

Men of the Rivers state police command have apprehended three suspects responsible for the gruesome killing of a taxi driver.

It was gathered the hoodlums lured the taxi driver by boarding his vehicle, before taking him into the bush where he was killed and buried in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State. This was done so that they could steal his car.

Recently, men of the anti-cultism unit of the Rivers State police command – on a routine patrol around the East West road accosted and arrested a van towing a Toyota Corolla to a supposed selling point which led to the arrest of the three killers of the taxi driver reported missing since September last year.

Upon interrogation, the men confessed to have taken the taxi on a drop to their community, stopped by the bush beat the driver half dead & buried him alive.

The shocking moment a lady was accosted by armed robbers and dispossessed of her valuables, was captured on camera.

According to reports, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations – DCI detectives based in Mombasa area of Kenya, today arrested 5 suspects in connection with the robbery incident which happened in Aldina & Makande area.

The suspects identified as Brighton Naiya Manyala, Mohamed Hassan, Chris Odhiambo Omondi, Evans Munyoki Mburiro & Mutonyi Nzamba, were captured on camera robbing a lady at gunpoint.

A suspected armed robber nicknamed Power has succumbed to the superior firepower of policemen in Lagos, along with another member of a 7-man gang in Ojo area of the state.

Before the suspected armed robbers were killed in a shootout, the gang had allegedly killed a victim identified as 32-year-old Obina Efenkandu of 124 Imude Road, Gafaru bus stop in Ojo and left two other victims – 26-year-old Collins Ichu and Abdullah Niger, 40, with gunshot wounds.

Lagos State police spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana, revealed in a statement that officers, who were responding to a distress call on Alhaji Gafaru Street, off Imude Road in Ojo at about 5 pm yesterday “injured two suspects identified as Chinozo Felix aka Power, 29, and Ifeanyi Uche. Two other members of the gang were arrested.

According to Elkana, officers who engaged the 7-man gang recovered three Beretta pistols with three rounds of live ammunition and three expended ammunition.

The officers were drafted from the Police Anti Robbery Squad and Metro Patrol Teams.

Elkana stated that the gang was operating on motorbikes and one was allegedly seized from them.

He identified the arrested suspects as one 24-year-old Semiu Ibrahim and Francis Obi, 29.

The injured persons were allegedly rushed to the hospital.

A ghastly accident which happened yesterday evening along Port-Harcourt road in Obinze, Imo state, saw at least two persons killed, according to reports.

The accident was said to be between multiple cars which crashed into a container laden trailer along the busy road.

Two persons were reportedly killed in the crash and the injured victims – rushed to the hospital.
