A man has been apprehended after attacking his uncle and injuring him following a disagreement few days ago in Kogi state. Though the reason for the attack was not given as at press time, but it was gathered that the man butchered his uncle with a cutlass during the brutal attack which happened in Abejukolo Ife local government area. The youths of the community apprehended the suspect after the attack, and dealt with him before he was handed over to the police. Two suspects armed with dangerous weapons to disrupt elections yesterday have been arrested in Akala, Mushin, and handed over to Area Commander, Area D. They were badly injured by voters before the police was alerted. The suspects were later arrested by the police and are currently in custody. The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed one of its staff, Jaja Otelemaba, for taking bribe from motorists while on election duty in Ekiti. Mr Peter Afunanya, Public Relations Officer of the Service, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said the officer was seen on social media where he was negotiating with a motorist for financial patronage. “The fact is that when the news broke, the Service initiated a line of investigative actions. “These include the search and identification of the said officer; his withdrawal from the duty post and issuance of a memo as applicable to his cadre and rank,” he said. He disclosed that Otelemaba was tried in an orderly room and summarily dismissed in line with the Service’s disciplinary procedures. The spokesman said that the dismissal was in accordance with the Director General of the Service’s commitment to promote discipline in the Service. A brother was seen floging his sister with a stick at about 7pm in the early hours of thursday evening during an argument between them in Benin. According to withnesses the brother took his sister's phone without her notice. While she was looking for her phone with the suspension that her phone had been stolen, she later found out it was taken by her brother which lead to a serious argument. She was said to have insulted her brother during the argument which provoked the brother who later picked up a stick and floged her until she fell down on the ground shaking and bringing out white substance from her mouth. Neighbors quickly rush in to bring water and milk to revive her but to no avail. She was later taking to a nearby maternity for treatment. middle-aged woman, whose lover died in her residence under circumstances shrouded in a mystery, and in a bid to cover up, dumped the corpse in a bush within her neighborhood, has been arrested by the police. The deceased, identified as Asimiu Abioidun, Crimepuzzle gathered, paid his routine visitation to the 45-year-old suspect, Aderonke Akindele, at her House No 1, Asalu Compound in Abeokuta, the Ogun capital, with no slightest inkling that death was lurking. Indigenes of Bayelsa yesterday, took to the major road to protest the extra-judicial murder of a 27 year-old-man, who was allegedly shot to death by soldiers, at about 10am on Wednesday, at biogbolo community. The timely intervention of police operatives saved a man who had visited his 12 year old daughter at school from being lynched after mob mistook him for a kidnapper. The man, Enoch Mensah Nortey, was at the St Lawrence Catholic Basic School in the Central region of Ghana, to visit the small girl but some residents raised false alarm that he had gone there to kidnap some of the school children. He had sought permission from the head teacher to see his daughter who lives separately from him only to leave the head teacher’s office to meet a thick crowd waiting to pounce on him. A young lady has passed away after being involved in a fatal accident which happened yesterday along Auchi – Abuja expressway. It was gathered that the deceased identified as Testimony Ayewa , a final year student of Auchi Polytechnic in Edo state, returned from the village two days ago to resume First semester before the accident which killed her. The women of Akwa Ibom State have taken to the streets of Oron local government area to protest against the importation of militants by politicians to cause havoc and disrupt the peace and unity of the area for their selfish interest. The Nigerian high commissioner to Ghana, Michael Abikoye has protested the “inhuman treatment” of Nigerians by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS). Nigerians deported from Ghana At a meeting between him and Kwame Takyi, the comptroller-general of GIS, the high commissioner said 723 Nigerians were deported over alleged illegal stay, cybercrime and prostitution between the January 2018 and January 2019. According to him, 81 Nigerians were deported over alleged cybercrime and illegal stay in January, while 115 have so far been deported in February on the allegation of overstay and prostitution. A middle-aged woman, Mrs Ngozi Ede and her 17-year-old daughter have been arrested by the police in Anambra State for allegedly stealing a four-year-old girl at Awada, Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area of the State, and later arranged and sold her for N250,000. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state police command, SP Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the story said the baby had been recovered and handed over to her mother in good health. At least one person was feared dead, yesterday evening, around Second Amekpa area of Ughelli, in Delta State, following heavy shooting by suspected members of a rival cult group. The shooting incident caused commotion in the area as residents scampered for safety. Although what led to the shooting was yet to be ascertained at the time of filling this report, It was learnt that the shooting was between members of Vikings and Aye cult groups. A man has been caught red-handed stealing tithe and offering money during a church service in Asaba. A video has emerged showing the moment a man was caught stealing the tithe money inside a church in Asaba and consequently embarrassed for the act. The incident reportedly happened at the Dominion City church in Asaba. The man was reportedly caught in the act of stealing the money when he was caught. He got dragged out by church members who made sure they filmed him get disgraced. When he he was questioned, he admitted to stealing the money but explained that he was tempted and should be pardoned. It is not clear if he has been handed to the police yet or not. Unknown gunmen have yet again wrecked havoc in Rivers state following the killings of two brothers. The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has reiterated its warning to foreign nationals to keep off voting areas during elections or face prosecution, deportation, The Nation reports. King Ekpedeme, the head of the service in Lagos gave the warning during a phone chat with our Correspondent on Friday. Following rumours that it has postponed the General election scheduled for Saturday, February 16th, 2019, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has spoken on the issues. As journalists keep vigil at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, Rotimi Oyekanmi, the chief press secretary to INEC’s chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has informed the newsmen that the commission has taken a decision after a crucial meeting attended by the chairman and 12 national commissioners. The high crime rate and cases of rape victim is nothing to wrte about in Nigeria but the security agencies across the country are giving their best to make sure there is an end to this weird act by people. The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 44-year-old-man identified as Rafiu Moruf, for allegedly defilling a six-year-old-girl. The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has signed the Violence Against Persons (VAP) Bill into law, to address all forms of violence and protect vulnerable members of the society. Obaseki, who signed the bill in Government House, Benin City, on Tuesday, said he was aware that the bill touches on fundamental practices among the people, assuring that he was not only signing the bill as a formality, but will ensure it is implemented to the letter. “We will not stop here by just signing the bill into law, but will commence the much difficult work of implementing it to the letter. A Nigerian, Job Oyebisi, who won the 2018 Idea Change Lives British Council global competition, was yesterday awarded a cash prize of £20,000 for emerging champion. A Nigerian nanny murdered a baby by force-feeding her half a pint of milk in less than 30 seconds – allegedly because her crying woke the woman from a nap. Oluremi Adeleye had been trusted with looking after eight-month-old Enita Salubi in Maryland. But the 73-year-old was captured on a nanny cam taking the teat off a bottle as she forced the child to guzzle down the formula in October 2016. A suspected kidnapper was nabbed while attempting to abduct children in a church in Lagos few days ago. The kidnap attempt was foiled by vigilant worshipers. It was gathered that three men had disguised as worshippers and sneaked into the popular Celestial Church of Christ, Wonderland Parish, at Alaguntan along New Ipaja Road, in Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos with a plan to kidnap some children. Their plan was however aborted by the mother of one of the children they had targeted who raised the alarm after noticing one of them trying to sneak out of the church auditorium with her baby. A 17-year-old girl is still traumatized after narrowly escaping from the hands of unknown assailants suspected to be kidnappers. The victim identified as Princess Oduro is a student of the Edinaman Senior High School at Elmina in the Central Region of Ghana. She narrated her ordeal to Connect FM’s Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson in a very shivering tone. She revealed that she’s a boarder but went home to collect some items from her parents. An endangered turtle was killed after it was caught by some residents in Lagos. The sea dwelling animal, was butchered by the residents who deemed it right to make a meal out of it. There was commotion after a masquerade identified as Uche set himself on fire while attempting to smoke cigarette in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state. According to Orient Daily, the victim escaped being burnt to death because the interior of the masquerade outfit was made of metal, while another masquerade who tried to help douse the flame – was burnt in the process.
