There is this new world cup phishing going on now. They will e-mail you telling you that your free e-mail service provider is loaded with traffic because most people are in south africa watching the world cup thereby making the server to be overloaded. After this, they will go ahead to as you to UPGRADE your account to their new server. A form will be provided to you asking for your login details. Please DON'T FILL OUT ANY OF THESE FORMS as they are after your password. If you do, be sure never to have access to that account again. The first thing they will do after hi-jacking your mail is to contact everybody in your contact book asking them to send money as 'you are stranded' in a remote place. Bewarned. Cheers! |
Nothing fit make Argentina win NAIJA. Football no be 1+1. Things fit ne dey as everybody expect am to be. |
make sure you really formated your system. Some people will simply install a new OS on an already existing one claiming they have formated it. Cheers! |
new e-mail accounts are usually their target. Also, have a close look at the sender's e-mail address. Be guided.
|
Phishing is an example of social engineering whereby attackers sends their targeted victims mail purporting to come from their mail service provider telling them to re-activate their account or lose it. The unsuspecting e-mail user will innocently supply every detail in a bid not to lose their e-mail but end up lossing it. These thieves immediately change your account details and hijack your e-mail and commit all sorts of cybercrime with it and in most cases put you into trouble. attached is a sample of this kind of e-mail. Cheers everyone!!

Until we wake up and face the fact, banking in nigeria will remain shaky. |
Always insist on see whoever you want to do business with. Don't just trust the phone numbers and e-mail address. |
Charges are normal with banks- that is their business. But UBA and Union i think charge way too much |

GT is a proactive bank. They anticipate the trend, form it before others will then follow it. I give it to them anytime. They are the best and most trusted bank in Naija today. |
odedele:How? |
Keep abreast with the activities of your competitors |
Integrity Honesty and Prompt attention to issues that seem trivial To survive in business, the above values should be made a business rule. Don't tell me they cannot work in Nigeria as they are already working for me. Cheers! |
Good points. The impact of commercial banks in their quest to grab as many fund from the capital market as possible i think is the chief cause of the almost meltdown in the Nigerian capital market. The banks introduced a lot of sharp practices just to make thier financial statements look good. I will not mention names here, but, hear this, a banker once approached me to buy their bank's share which i was sceptical about and told her i don't have money. To cut the long story short, she offered to help me get a loan from that same bank to buy their own shares. And they classed the loan as a consumer loan. What a desperate move!! Once Again, OP thanks for this wonderful post. |
This will be nice if it will be well implemented. In most countries, insurrance companies owns banks and some other financial istitutions, but here in nigeria, banks own insurrance companies thereby exposing depositors fund to highly risky ventures. |
