The Anambra Police Command on Thursday warned complainants in the state to reduce their frequency to police stations in the state.



This it said was in compliance with the social distancing order globally in force on account of the coronavirus pandemic.

The command said the order was also in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu towards containing the spread of COVID-19.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, said the enforcement had commenced.

Mohammed said, “Members of the public are advised against visits to police stations and other security formations, except when the visit is absolutely necessary on security grounds.”

He gave out some designated telephone lines through which the public could reach the police in the state in case of any emergency.

He also urged the people to use the telephone lines to report observed breaches of the restriction order or other security threats.

The statement read in part, “All public gatherings are hereby suspended till further notice; night clubs and bars, traditional marriages, community festivals, masquerades festivals, funeral/burial ceremonies, baby christening, title ceremonies and any meeting of more than 30 persons have been suspended forthwith.

“All academic and non-academic institutions, vocational centres, nursery/primary/secondary/tertiary schools either public, private or mission-owned must vacate immediately and no academic or extra-curricular activities are allowed.

“Schools and other facilities that fail to shut down voluntarily will be forced to comply accordingly. Henceforth, number of passengers to be conveyed in commercial vehicles has been limited to the following: keke, two passengers; shuttle bus, four passengers; and minibus, six passengers.

“The public is to note that the police and all security services in the state are geared to enforce these restrictions to the letter in observance of overriding public health interest.

“All are, therefore, enjoined to postpone their social events, commitments and all gatherings of any kind that may attract more than 30 persons.”

Rev Fr. Charles Okeke-Odogwu, who was the school manager of Fr. Ohai Memorial Secondary School, Oroma- Etiti, Anambra State, was found dead in his car on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. .


The parish priest of Holy Cross Parish, Oroma Etiti, was allegedly found lifeless inside his car on the school field, with the car engine still steaming.

He was said to have attended the Regional Meeting of his region of the Archdiocese on Monday, 23/3/2020 and reportedly participated actively, showing no signs of ill health.

An Italian priest infected with coronavirus, gave up a respirator his parishioners bought for him to a younger patient and then died.


Father Giuseppe Berardelli, 72, refused to take the respirator while in a hospital after finding out the other patient who was a complete stranger also needed it, according to the BBC.

He was one of at least 60 priests who died in Italy this month, according to the Catholic News Agency.

He also formally informed the governor of the change of baton at the helm of the cement manufacturing giant, where Mr. Puchercos recently took over from Mr. Makoju on the retirement of the latter. .

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in his remarks, acknowledged the change in management at Dangote Cement Plc, and expressed appreciation at the company’s gesture, which he described as timely. .

According to him, “We take seriously your level of support because there is a lot of reconstruction going on at Abule-Ado so that normalcy can be restored. We welcome all the support we have gotten.

“I appreciate the Chairman who has said that the Group will continue to support us. Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, a member of the House of Representatives, has called on the government to set inmates of correctional centres across the country free, and convert prisons to quarantine centres for patients who have tested positive for the Corona Virus.


According to Vanguardngr, the lawmaker advised government to set inmates free to avoid a possible rapid spread of the pandemic, but ensure safeguards for their return to custody after the epidemic is contained. .

His words: “The impact of the virus, will be worse on large number of people in an enclosure. Nigerian prisons are overcrowded and notorious for poor hygiene standards. .

The spread of the virus under such environment, will be rapid and deadly. As a matter of urgency, the Government should carry out proper documentation of prisoners to ensure their return to prison after the end of the epidemic”. .

The Northern Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria has threatened to dump the association if the appointment of Senator Elisha Abbo as the patron is withdrawn, according to a report by DailyPost.

Adeleke Mamora, the minister of state for health, says a Nigerian doctor has died in Italy after contracting coronavirus.


Olumide Okunuga, a 63-year-old Nigerian pathologist who lived in Italy, had contracted the disease during a visit to Canada. .

Mamora was addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday while giving an update on the COVID-19 situation in the country.

“We must be conscious of not being complacent, the price to pay for complacency is huge. I have heard people say that the black man’s gene is resistant and so COVID-19 is not for us,” he said.

“Don’t forget, some black men even from Africa, even from Nigeria have died, unfortunately. We heard the story of one doctor who lived in Italy, a Nigerian, a black man.

A 28-year-old man, Oyesanwo Sola, has been arrested by the police for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl inside his shop in Ikorodu, Lagos state.


The spokesperson of the state police command, Bala Elkana, says the father of the victim approached the Ikorodu police division on Friday March 13, 2020, to report a case of defilement.

The father alleged that Sola defiled his daughter by inserting his finger into her vagina inside his shop along Ota Ona Itamaga road.

South Africa has just confirmed it's first Corona virus case after a 38 year old man who travelled to Italy tested positive, Health minister Zweli Mkhize said.


A tracer team has been sent to South Africa's Kwazulu-Natal province along with epidemiologists and clinicians from the National institute for communicable Diseases Mkhize said in a statement on Thursday.

The infected South African, who was part of a group of 10 people who travelled to Italy, returned home on March 1, went into self isolation on March 3 and is now being treated in the hospital.

It has taken more than two months for the virus to reach South African from mainland China, where it originated.

Sagamu is presently on fire in Ogun State as a young footballer, identified as Tiamiyu Kazeem alias Kaka, was allegedly chased to his death by some SARS operatives.


It was gathered that Kaka was on his way to Sagamu from Abeokuta after his training, when he ran into SARS operatives who labeled him a yahoo boy and started chasing him. .

Eyewitnesses claimed that the officers shot at his car tyre which made it somersault. On seeing what had happened, the officials ran away, leaving Kaka to his fate.

The footballer was later rushed to Fakoya Hospital, Sagamu, where he was pronounced dead. Residents have now taken to the streets to protest the murder of the youngster who once played for the Remo Football club.

Things you need to teach your Child(ren) at early age:

1: Warn your Girl Child Never to sit on anyone's laps no matter the situation including uncles.
2: Avoid Getting Dressed in front of your child once he/she is 2 years old. Learn to excuse them or yourself.
3. Never allow any adult refer to your child as 'my wife' or 'my husband'
4. Whenever your child goes out to play with friends make sure you look for a way to find out what kind of play they do, because young people now sexually abuse themselves.
5. Never force your child to visit any adult he or she is not comfortable with and also be observant if your child becomes too fond of a particular adult.
6. Once a very lively child suddenly becomes withdrawn you may need to patiently ask lots of questions from your child.
7. Carefully educate your grown ups about the right values of sex . If you don't, the society will teach them the wrong values.
8: It is always advisable you go through any new Material like cartoons you just bought for them before they start seeing it themselves.
9. Ensure you activate parental controls on your cable networks and advice your friends especially those your child(ren) visit(s) often.
10. Teach your 3 year olds how to wash their private parts properly and warn them never to allow anyone touch those areas and that
includes you (remember, charity begins from home and with you).
11: Blacklist some materials/associates you think could threaten the sanity of your child (this includes music, movies and even friends and families).
12. Let your child(ren) understand the value of standing out of the
crowd.
