EFCC, on October 8, 2018 arraigned one Mohammed Sanni Zubair, before Justice Ijeoma L. Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, sitting in Maitama, Abuja, on a 4-count charge of fraud. Zubair, a suspected serial fraudster, was alleged to be a member of a syndicate, who specialized in defrauding people. The long arm of the law caught Zubair when the children of one Major General Geoffrey Ejiga (retd) petitioned the EFCC alleging that a syndicate of fraudsters took advantage of their father's old age to defraud him of over N180million. A check on Zubair's profile showed that he had previously been arrested by the operatives of the EFCC sometime in 2016 for a fraud related offence, which he confessed to, saying he acted under the instruction of one Johnson Abiodun, whose real name was Nuhu Kasim. In the course of investigation, Kasim was arrested in Kano, and it was discovered that the information given by the defendant against him, was completely false. Hence, this charge. One of the counts reads: "That you, Mohammed Sanni Zubair on or about October 2016, in Abuja, within the Abuja Judicial Division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, did make a statement to Naziru Aminu Shehu, an officer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, in the course of the exercise of the duties of his office, contained in your written statement dated 28th October, 2016, which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 39 (2) (a) and (b) of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004". The defendant pleaded not guilty to the counts preferred against him. In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, Fatsuma Mohammed, prayed the court for a trial date to enable the prosecution prove its case. . But, counsel to the defendant, Joe Agi, SAN, informed the court of the defendant's application for bail, which he said was filed and served on the prosecution shortly before the court started sitting. https://promiseschool..com/2018/10/efcc-arraigns-serial-fraudster-for.html

The Federal Ministry of Education has debunked claims on social media that the Federal Government had approved the hike in tuition fees of Nigerian universities to N350,000. The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, recently alleged that the Federal government was proposing a hike in tuition fees in Federal universities to the tune of N350k a session. Speaking at a symposium in Abuja today, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono, said the Federal Government was not planning to increase the tuition fees “The Federal Government did not and has no intention of introducing new tuition fees in our public universities not to mention the figure to N350, 000. What is true is that the present administration is committed to guarantee quality of education. President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the ministry of education along with the ministry of finance to jointly organise a workshop that will inform on a very sustainable and workable recommendation of funding education in Nigeria. And to this end, we have been engaging various stakeholders including ASUU who can come up with a very useful contribution that will bring all these recommendations achievable'' he said https://promiseschool..com/2018/10/ministry-of-education-denies-plan-to.html

The West Africa And Examination Council WAEC has stated that its examination papers do not leak. WAEC disclosed this via its twitter handle while responding to a question asked by one concerned individual on twitter. According to the twitter user who asked the question, website owners aiding exam malpractice must have insiders that help them with the questions; to which WAEC replied that there was nothing like that, the twitter user went ahead to ask, "How do the papers leak? Please shed more light." To which WAEC replied, "Our papers do not leak. Unscrupulous principals, supervisors, invigilators and candidates snap the papers while the examination is in progress & send to their outside collaborators who in turn solve them & forward to their subscribers via criminal websites, WhatsApp, sms, etc." https://promisegoziemschool..com/2018/06/we-do-not-leak-exam-papers-waec.html

Do you want to us to publish your Open Letter to someone in your past, present or future? Please send to us at iceprinxxx@gmail.com I remember the day we reunited on Facebook after not seeing each other since we left secondary school. I put a sad status on my Facebook, and you contacted me asking me if everything was okay, I opened up to you and said I was struggling financially and as we were speaking my baby was in the hospital. You chastised me for putting a depressing status on Facebook and encouraged me to be prayerful, I thanked you and we ended the chat. Two days later you sent me message asking for my bank account and immediately you sent me N50, 000. I was over happy, I called you and thanked you. You added me on whatsapp, you also added me to the chat group of our secondary school set. I checked your Facebook page and saw you are doing well for yourself; I will not lie, I was happy to be connected to an old classmate doing well. You started chatting with me on whatsapp, you bashed my husband for not having a job even after I explained that he had just lost it and he is looking for another one. You queried me for having two children when my salary is just N70, 000. I told you that the second one was not planned, and then you started calling me and my husband names for being irresponsible. You asked me if I have ever been out of the country, and when I said no, you said my husband is not a real man if at my age I have not even been to Ghana. All these, I stomached because I felt you were just trying to motivate me to do better in life. You started sending me on errands. The first one you did, you called me at 8am on a Saturday and said I should go and pick something from someone at Ikorodu and take it to another person in Festac. I dropped my children with my neighbour and jumped on the road, it was not convenient but I did it because you gave me 50k when my child was sick. I carried out three of this type of errands for you. The fourth time, I said no, because there was no one around to leave my children with and you were very angry, you called me an ingrate. I was really pained but I didn’t say anything. On the chat group of our secondary school set, someone posted that she was getting married and invited all of us. I typed ‘congratulations’. You called me immediately and started screaming on the phone that you forbid me from going to the wedding because the lady antagonizes you on the group. You said if I go you will block me on all platforms and will never help me again, then you cut the phone before I could even respond. I was not even planning to go; I have not even talked to the person in many years. I shed tears after that call; I asked myself do I want to continue putting up with your condescension and abuse forever, because of the money you gave me. Is my self-esteem and peace of mind not worth more than 50k? I waited till the weekend when I received my salary and I transferred your 50k back to you. I knew you got it because you blocked me on whatsapp and all social media immediately. https://promisegoziemschool..com/2018/06/an-open-letter-to-friend-who-gave-me.html

FUTA undergraduates win Microsoft competition…Win All Expenses Paid Trip to Microsoft’s Headquarters in Redmond, Washington USA. Two engineeing students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Taofeek Afeez and Alayande Abiola, have emerged winners of the 2018 Imagine Cup National Finals. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Imagine Cup which started in 2003 is an annual competition sponsored by Microsoft Corporation in which it brings together student-developers to help resolve some world’s toughest challenges. It is considered the “Olympics of technology” by computer science and engineering students, and is one of the top competitions related to technology and software design. All Imagine Cup competitors create projects that address the Imagine Cup theme: “Imagine a World Where Technology Helps Solve the Toughest Problems.” NAN also reports that seven ideas were selected from all entries received in Nigeria. The winner will go on to compete at the Middle East & Africa finals. The two undergraduates of Physics Electronics and Electrical Electronics, who jointly formed TEAM TREP, presented a solution called Real Drip – a device that reduces the risk of blood clot or deep vein thrombosis. The non-invasive device monitors the flow of intravenous fluid during intravenous treatment and the rate at which intravenous fluid drops (flow rate), and notifies medical staff in real time. It ensures timely removal of intravenous needle to prevent back flow of blood which may lead to pulmonary embolism if necessary action is not taken in time. Akin Banuso, General Manager, Microsoft Nigeria, said in his welcome address that students could change the world. “At Microsoft, we believe this new generation of innovators have the potential to address some of humanity’s most pressing problems – from how to predict and monitor diseases like Alzheimer’s and depression, to identifying ‘fake news’ or increasing response times during natural disasters. “”Through Imagine Cup, the world’s young, aspiring entrepreneurs and developers collaborate to build a technology application, create a business plan and gain a keen understanding of what is needed to bring a concept to market. “”In a cloud-first, mobile-first world, creators and makers must work together to create a cloud for global good,” he said. Mr Banuso noted that national entries for the Imagine Cup competition opened in February and was available in 29 countries across the world including Nigeria. He added that participants created or joined a team of up to three eligible students and together made an original technology project from start to finish. He said that the process involved coming up with a great idea, putting together a plan, building a project and submitting it. Taofeek Afeez, the leader of TEAM TREP, said that the team was excited about the win. “”We would like to thank Microsoft for this opportunity. We look forward to competing at the global stage and do our country proud,” he said. Damola Solanke, Principal, Azure Apps & Infrastructure Head, Microsoft Nigeria, and Chief Judge of the competition, said the winning idea was assessed based on four key areas – technology, innovation, concept and feasibility. “”We would like to commend TEAM TREP for satisfying the requirements of the competition. “”Their idea is well articulated, and we look forward to seeing more homegrown solutions to our pressing needs as a country,” he said. He said that the finalists would win an all-expenses paid trip to the World Finals taking pace in Redmond, Seattle in July. ““They will compete with the best and brightest teams from across the globe for the title of World Champion, up to $100,000 cash prize and the chance to take home the Imagine Cup,” he said. He said that this year’s Imagine Cup would see addition of three special awards representing the current state of digital transformation, namely: Artificial Intelligence – the best use of Azure intelligence tools; Big Data and Mixed Reality. He listed some notable entries seen in the history of the competition to include Team X.GLU of the Czech Republic which took top honours in the 2017 world final for innovation – a glucose meter for children with Type 1 diabetes. He said that the innovation was paired with a Microsoft Azure cloud solution in the form of an app that could reward behaviours to keep diabetes in check and managed through motivational in-app games. According to the official, Team AMANDA, a 2016 finalist from Greece, created a bullying detection and intervention solution. –Culled from Premium Times/NAN http://promisegoziemschool..com.ng/2018/05/futa-undergraduates-win-microsoft.html

On Sunday, Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka declared that governance in Nigeria has collapsed, noting that democracy and the society are totally in danger. He said enemies of democracy, who inaugurated certain policies which contributed to the nation’s woes are once again coming out and positioning themselves as saviours and messiahs ahead of the 2109 general election. Speaking during the 80th posthumous birthday celebration of the late legal luminary and human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehin-mi (SAN), in Lagos, Soyinka called for drastic actions to rescue the already endangered Nigeria’s democracy. In his words: “All I want to say in connection with the title of today’s event is just one word; vigilance. Please be vigilant. The theme of the gathering today is most pertinent. There is no question whatsoever that democracy is in danger; not just democracy; in fact, the society is in danger. I do not believe any moment in my existence in this world and in this nation specifically what I have felt myself in an environment of mere total collapse. We all know that. “The question is; do we see it as an opportunity to do a rescue mission or do we see it as an opportunity to take advantage once again and continue our role; our contribution for bringing the nation to its knees. In other words, it is no news whatsoever that we have reached a point where drastic actions has to be taken to rescue the nation as a corporate entity and at the same time to rescue what I called the conglomeration of protocols that keep us together, which we placed under the rubric of democracy. “And so, I find it ironic that those who themselves; the enemies of democracy, who really committed acts, not just negligence but actually inaugurated certain policies which contributed to our being where we are today are once again coming out and positioning themselves as saviours and messiahs that this nation can really dream of; a nation of modestly about 200million people.” He continued: “I find it very strange and even stranger because at the beginning of this movement towards ‘rescuing the nation, there were one or two organisations that came out under different names and they had people in them, whom I can say was following what encouraged them and what is encouraging others to study closely and even consider following. The list thing I knew was that this movement was being hijacked by the very people who laid the foundation for the collapse of the democratic edifice. https://promisegoziemschool..com.ng/2018/04/prof-wole-soyinka-says-governance-in.html

Here, you will be learning all about JAMB expo centers and how to avoid the Scam in 2018. Some JAMB candidates want to know if there is Jamb expo center for Jamb 2018 CBT examination. Due to the different changes We have experienced, we will be providing you with a detailed information on the Scam associated with JAMB expo centres in 2018. Before 2013, JAMB candidates wrote their examination making use of the traditional paper and pencil. Then, the issue of JAMB expo centers otherwise called miracle centres was very rampant. Then, it was very easy JAMB candidates to pay for JAMB run at JAMB expo centers and get the answers hours or even a day to the examination. Again, candidates answered the same questions and it was easy for JAMB expo to be circulated as far as you were writing the same subjects with your neighbor. JAMB Expo Centers Scam Not withstanding the rate of JAMB expo Centers in Nigeria then, a lot of candidates still failed. This brought about a lot of questions in the minds of the students who paid for JAMB expo. Below are some of the reason. Even then, most of the JAMB expo centers were fraud Just because they do not have the answers, they send random answers just to get money from the students. There was no way for the the students to confirm if the answers were fake or real. Fast forward to 2018, a lot of things have changed. There are CCTV cameras at strategic angles in the halls of examination. Not just that. There are invigilators around. So, if you are planing to use JAMB expo if there’s anything like that, you should ask your self Just one question; How will I use it? Are there still Jamb Expo Centers in 2018? There are still individuals online who claim to be JAMB Expo Centers . Our advise for our reader here on PromiseGoziem.com is to forget about JAMB expo because JAMB I see currently taking drastic measures to totally stop examination malpractice for 2018 examination. All We will advise you to do I should to start reading if you have not started. Again JAMB is not the only way you can gain admission in to Nigeria universities. http://www.promisegoziem.com/2018/01/jamb-expo-center-and-how-to-avoid-scam.html

Two African leaders have waded into the political crisis in Zimbabwe, calling on long-serving Robert Gabriel Mugabe to step aside. The two leaders are Botswana’s Ian Khama and Ivory Coast’s Alassane Ouattara. The AFP news agency quoted the Ivorian leader as saying the world had changed and due to age and the duration Mugabe has been in power, “everyone is aware that it is time for him to handover his seat to a new generation.” Khama is no newcomer in the area of calls for Mugabe to leave power. In an interview with Reuters, he said the military move on Mugabe was an opportunity to rest the path Zimbabwe was heading. “I don’t think anyone should be president for that amount of time. We are presidents not monarchs. It’s just common sense.” In September 2016 he broke ‘diplomatic rules’ openly asking Mugabe to step down. “Without doubt. He should have done it years ago. They have got plenty of people there who have got good leadership qualities who could take over. “It is obvious that at his age and the state Zimbabwe is in, he’s not really able to provide the leadership that could get it out of its predicament,” Khama added. http://www.promisegoziem.com/2017/11/mugabe-must-go-botswanas-khama-ivory.html

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, on Sunday said that the whistle-blower who informed the EFCC of the N13bn recovered from an Ikoyi apartment in Lagos would be paid this month. Adeosun said this in a statement by her SA, Media and Communications, Mr Oluyinka Akintunde. She denied claims that the government had withheld any fund due to any whistle-blower, adding that the delay was caused by the administrative procedures that must be fulfilled before such funds are released. The statement read in part, “The attention of the Honourable Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has been drawn to media reports surrounding the payment to a whistleblower, who provided the tips that led to the recovery of funds stashed away in a property in Ikoyi, Lagos State. “The Honourable Minister wishes to state unequivocally that the Federal Government has not withheld any fund due to any whistleblower. “The ministry has in place detailed procedures for processing payments due under the whistleblower policy. “The procedures were designed to prevent abuse and legal disputes and to ensure protection of the information providers. “These procedures include an application by the agency who recovered the funds including evidence of the recovery, confirmation that there are no pending legal issues on the recovery, verification of the identity of the information provider, calculation of the amount payable and computation of relevant taxes. “It must be stated also that payments are made in monthly batches to ensure control and to protect the identity of information providers. “To date, over 20 of such persons have been paid. From available records, the payment due on Ikoyi is among those being processed in the November batch, which will be released within the current month.” Adeosun restated that the whistleblowing policy of the Federal Government remains one of the current administration’s successful initiatives and that the government was fully committed to ensuring that all those who responded to the policy and partnered with it in the recovery effort are paid in full and most importantly have their identity protected. The whistleblower policy was introduced in December 2016 by the Federal Government as part of the initiatives to wage war against corruption. http://www.promisegoziem.com/2017/11/ikoyi-billions-whistle-blower-will-be.html
