This story is as told by a female Libyan returnee who is a BV......If you are thinking of going to Libya, please read her column until it ends.. This is the debut and will be updated with new posts as often as she sends in.... Sit tight and enjoy!!!! She says..... ''I want to share my story because Psychologists are expensive and my rebirth won't be possible without offloading my ordeals. For now, I will remain anonymous because of people who play Judge with other peoples stories...... My Libyan Journey through the Sahara desert started on 17th of April, 2015. It was a bright morning as our bus took off from Mile 12 in Lagos to Kano, I was in company of 2 other girls and a male burga who guided us through the Journey..... The journey was smooth as the bus was filled with other travellers heading to either Europe or Libya, we chatted about Nigerian economy and how it was difficult to survive as youths. We arrived Kano the following day. We freshened up, had our breakfast and prepared for the next phase of the deadliest trip ever. Our next Journey was from Kano to Zindel, and we waited approximately 8hours before the damaged 14 sitter bus that was to convene over 30 passengers arrived. At about 10pm, we were squeezed into the bus and it was difficult to move an inch talk more of sleeping, we journeyed through the night with fear and prayers until we got to Zindel, It was overwhelming for us and most people started having second thoughts, We met more people in Zindel so we decided to push forward, We slept in an uncompleted building for 2 days, fed on spaghetti and garri but that was nothing because of the bright future that awaited us....or so we thought! On the day we were to move from Zindel to Agadez, we were all ready and anticipating for the arrival of our bus, around noon, bikers rode in and we were asked to climb the bike, A lady asked where we were going and the response was that the bike will take us across the border, I was like did you just say bike? The response was, Yes! Bike. The Journey on the bike was very horrifying and adventurous, I was lucky to sit between the rider and a fellow Traveller and it took us more than 2 hours of falling, avoiding check points and screaming until we got to Agadez. Agadez was the place we met our connection man, he was in charge of our trip to Libya, we quickly settled down and arranged for food and luckily the man offered us Semovita and Soup..... The following day saw us waking up in the camp, We met lots of travellers there looking tattered and hungry, we got to know their connection man was demanding extra cash and they Were either hustling or controlling more cash from Nigeria, we were happy because all our fees were cleared by our 'Sponsors' in Libya... We spent 3 more days in camp chatting, praying and looking unto the future Libya had for us. On the day of our Journey from Agadez, we were rudely woken up, our connection man kept shouting that we should board the Hilux and move. Hilux? I questioned, the male burger answered Yes; that's the only car that can travel across the desert, we the ladies were the first to board, totally squeezed and hard to move, followed by the men who sat on the edge and held unto sticks that were tied to the vehicle. We immediately reached out for our bags to be given to us but breaking news, All big bags would stay in Agadez and only people with small bags are lucky to have their bags thrown at them. A fellow traveller asked, What happen to our food? How do we feed on the road? The answer was heart breaking.......'' http://legitnewsblog..com/2018/12/tales-of-libyan-returneepart-one.html

Paris Saint-Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe, has been crowned French Player of the Year for the first time. The 20-year-old forward who was pivotal to France winning the World Cup in Russia last summer enjoyed a remarkable 2018. After bursting onto the scene as a precociously-gifted teenager at Monaco, a big-money transfer had taken him to Parc des Princes. Another Ligue 1 title triumph was enjoyed in 2017-18, as PSG swept the board in terms of domestic honours. Mbappe helped Les Bleus to go all the way, with a fine individual effort netted in a 4-2 final triumph over Croatia. His efforts were recognised with the Young Player Award, and his game has continued to go from strength to strength. Mbappe has hit 16 goals in 19 appearances for PSG this season, as they continue to chase down more trophies at home and abroad. Alongside those heroics, he has also become the inaugural winner of the Kopa Trophy – the prize bestowed upon the finest under-21 player on the planet. He finished fourth in the vote for the 2018 Ballon d’Or, with that lofty standing placing him above five-time winner Lionel Messi. Those in his native France have now recognised him as the country’s finest performer. Mbappe was awarded that gong by France Football, having edged out Raphael Varane and Antoine Griezmann. He inherits the title from Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, who came out on top in 2017. While this is the first time that he has scooped the award, it is unlikely to be the last.More is expected of Mbappe in the years to come, with many tipping him to become the world’s best player and be involved in more high-profile transfers. For the time being, though, a humble performer is merely seeking to remain on an upward career curve that has already carried him a long way in a very short space of time. https://legitnewsblog..com/2018/12/mbappe-crowned-french-player-of-year.html

Jose Mouriho believes Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes conspired against him to get him the sack at Manchester United. The Portuguese’s two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford came to an end on Monday after he was sacked by the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward. Mourinho was ‘surprised’ by the club’s decision and felt the board should have given him more time given his view that they failed to back him in the transfer market. The 55-year-old felt his first two seasons at the club were a success but blamed ‘outside negativity’ from pundits like Ferdinand and Scholes for creating a bad atmosphere at Old Trafford. Scholes in particular has been scathing of Mourinho in recent months and said the coach was ’embarrassing’ the club. Mourinho refused to criticise former players in press conferences but was hugely resentful towards the likes of Scholes during his final months at Old Trafford. Mourinho felt his side of the story was rarely showcased and believes United’s problems stem from the boardroom. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has since been placed in charge at Old Trafford and will lead the side for the first time against former club Cardiff City on Saturday. https://legitnewsblog..com/2018/12/jose-mourinho-blames-two-manchester.html

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said that it would embark on a nationwide mobilisation of Nigerian workers to protest federal government’s delay in transmitting, enacting and implementing a new national minimum wage of N30,000. The NLC also urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC to investigate allegations of diversion of the bailout fund, Paris Club refund, as well as all budget support releases to the states. In a swift reaction, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said that he was confident that labour would not embarrass the government. NLC in the communiqué issued at the end of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja, yesterday, said it had directed that the protests should hold in all state capitals and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja on January 8, 2019. The NEC also said all industrial unions and state councils had been directed to fully mobilise workers and coordinate with other labour unions “for this mother-of-all protests.” According to the communiqué signed by the NLC NLC President, Ayuba Wabba and General Secretary, Peter Ozo-Eson, the NEC also condemned the alleged violation of the fundamental human rights and freedom of association of workers by the Ogun State Government. It accused the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun of illegal proscription of trade union rights in the Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu – Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. The NLC lamented what it described as the entrenched insensitivity by some state governments and other political office holders to the plight of workers and pensioners, especially in the states where workers were being owed several months of salary arrears, unpaid pension and gratuity. “It is most unfortunate that many of the governors diverted a significant part of the bailout funds and the Paris Club Refund initiatives meant to offset salaries, pension and gratuity owed workers and pensioners for purposes of personal aggrandisement and to fund non-impactful frivolous programmes and projects. “The NEC demands full investigations by the EFCC of the disbursement of all Bailout, Paris Club Refund and Budget Support releases to the states,” the communiqué stated. The labour unions also picked holes in the alleged unending neglect of the education sector by both the federal and state governments. It noted that FG’s neglect for human capital development was clearly exemplified by the refusal of government to respect the agreement it freely entered with ASUU, especially the Memorandum of Action of November 2017. According to Labour, the agreement was primarily focused on adequate funding for the repositioning of public education in Nigeria for national rebirth and global competitiveness of the products of Nigerian universities. The NLC demanded that all state governments still owing workers arrears of salaries, pension and gratuity must settle all their wage liabilities before the 2019 general election. “The NEC reiterates its earlier directives to workers all over the country not only to vote out state governors and other political office holders owing workers but also, to mobilise their families and friends to ensure that all elected public office holders who are not worker-friendly are voted out of office in the forthcoming 2019 general elections. Nigerian workers are also directed to support in full force the re-election bid of all state governors and political office holders who are worker-friendly and up to date in the payment of workers’ salaries and gratuity cum pension for retired workers,” it said. On the issue of the rising unemployment rate in the country, NLC said that beyond the increase in the size of the labour force, another issue of great concern was the increasing pool of graduates, skilled and semi-skilled youth in the unemployment market especially the increase in rural unemployment, which it said was a sign of the sluggishness of the economy and “our inability to diversify beyond oil, extractives and primary agricultural production”. It added: “It is more worrisome that as unemployment/underemployment increase, so is the general increase in social vices and criminalities around the country where the youth are the most common perpetrators.” The NEC meeting was attended by members of the National Administrative Council (NAC), Presidents, General Secretaries and Treasurers of the affiliate industrial unions and the Chairpersons of the 36 State Councils and the FCT. Meanwhile, Lai Mohammed who addressed journalists in Abuja yesterday on the planned NLC protests, described labour as being made up of patriotic Nigerians and that the federal government would continue to engage them until a consensus was arrived at in the end. He said: “The NLC is a very patriotic union and I am very confident that they will not do anything that will embarrass the government or do anything that is going to worsen the situation. “Continuous engagement, I think, is the key. We continue to engage them and I think they do also fully understand what the challenges are. Both parties are determined to ensure that a common ground is arrived at which will be comfortable for all.” https://legitnewsblog..com/2018/12/minimum-wage-delay-labour-orders.html?m=1

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Genevieve Nnaji is not happy as her globally acclaimed movie, ‘Lionheart’, may not have the privilege of being shown in Nigerian cinemas. In a message currently circulating on WhatsApp and posted on her behalf by Ugoma Adegoke, the CEO of Life House, the actress revealed that although getting to show her directorial debut to her fans has been giving her a mush feeling, unfortunately, not everyone shares her enthusiasm. The statement describes as sad the fact that the very people who pose as Nollywood supporters and promoters of their content are the same people frustrating the efforts of film makers. “FilmOne, one of the major film cinema distributors, has categorically refused to distribute Lionheart, primarily because they have no stake in it. They are currently invested in a couple of movies showing in the cinemas and want to protect their assets at all cost. Monopolizing the market this season is their strategy to recouping their investment,” the statement reads. The actress adds that although pioneer cinema house, Silverbird agreed to exclusively exhibit ‘Lionheart’ across their cinemas, as soon as the announcement was made about the release, the ‘powers that be’ of distribution and marketing proceeded to arm twist them into backing out of the agreement by threatening to boycott them in the future.from apex.ng *They refused because they don't have a stake in it?Well,Why not have a meeting and reach an agreement with them?We have been already told in several posts how Nollywood does not support its own,so this isn't really a surprise.....Meet with them and reach an agreement because calling them out might make this worse.....Sometimes you need to apply Solomon's wisdom.....Not supporting them, just saying,Apply wisdom in dealing with people like this.....Besides no one else has complained!! https://legitnewsblog..com/2018/12/actress-genevieve-nnaji-alleges-cinema.html

Jamaican reggae star, Mark Anthony Myrie popularly known as Buju Banton has been released from a federal prison in Georgia. The federal Bureau of Prisons updated its inmate locator to show that he was released Friday Dec 7th from the McRae Correctional Facility in Georgia. Banton was convicted of federal drug charges in February 2011 for illegal possession of a firearm and conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute. He was sentenced to 10 years, a prison term his attorneys appealed to be reduced a year later, citing his "limited participation" in the drug operation that led to his December 2009 bust. Banton is one of the most well-known reggae artists in Jamaica, where he's considered a big name in the same genre of music that features icons such as Bob Marley. His popularity among reggae fans led to his collaboration with international US artists such as Busta Rhymes and Fat Joe. After his release, rap artist P. Diddy posted a message on Instagram. "Today is a glorious day. Buju is free. Let's go!" he said. The Jamaica Observer reported that Banton returned home over the weekend, where crowds of fans gathered at the airport to await his arrival. His friend and manager told the paper that Banton decided not to use the regular airport exit because he did not want to be mobbed. "He felt the crowd was too big, and Buju had already been harassed by the dozens of passengers who traveled home with him by taking pictures and videoing him, and asking questions on his way back home," Donovan Germain said. The musician went to the studio from the airport, and is looking forward to performing early next year, he added. https://legitnewsblog..com/2018/12/jamaican-reggae-legend-buju-banton.html?m=1

A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential aspirant, Stanley Osifo, on Tuesday threatened to drag the party to court if it fails to address issues surrounding the emergence of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate. Osifo described the emergence of the Waziri of Adamawa as an imposition. Addressing a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, Osifo said the PDP’s national convention in Port Harcourt, the River State capital, was null and void because it did not follow laid down rules and regulations of the party. He stated that he was denied participation in the exercise despite having obtained the necessary documents and fulfilled the requirement to enable him take part in the said convention. According to Osifo, “I, therefore, call on the party to address this germane issue in the next 48 hours, failure which, we will proceed to court to seek redress. Therefore, the primary that produced the party’s presidential candidate is null and void. “I have written two letters to the party and the chairman on the matter. But my complaint was not taken seriously and we would not relent until we get justice because we will continue to pursue the matter.” The former presidential aspirant said his alleged sidelining was “the height of impunity in the party,” saying the party should not have deemed it fit to collect from him money for expression of interest form, among others if it did not want him to participate in the exercise. “There is no doubt; this is the height of impunity in the party. Before I decided to participate in the election, I met and discussed with the party leadership. As such, I obtained the form to enable me participate. “Incidentally, when the party was meeting the aspirants to have discussion on primaries, I was never invited and only got to know about the development in the media. It is instructive to note that if the party did not want me to participate, why should it collect the money I paid for expression of interest to contest forms?” he queried. The PDP stalwart, however, said the complaints he made that the impunity and injustice done to him be addressed by the party were yet to be responded to adequately. While stating that nobody was using him to scuttle the efforts of the party, Osifo stressed that he was protesting on the ground that he equally had the same rights to contest as a party member. “I have addressed the same allegation in the past alleging that I am a mole in the party. I must make it clear again that nobody can use me to derail the PDP. I believe in the cohesiveness of the party, but it is not laying good example,” he said. https://legitnewsblog..com/2018/12/2019-presidential-aspirant-threatens.html?m=1

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo today said there is a gang up against President Buhari by some elites who wish him dead because they want to continue to embezzle the Nation's treasury. Speaking at an APC forum in Lagos, Osinbajo appealed for Nigerians to stop peddling the rumor that President Buhari has been cloned. The Vice President emphasied that President Buhari is alive and will win re-election in 2019. ''The issue in Nigeria has always been Muhammadu Buhari and the simple reason is not because he is a perfect man. He is not. It is because he is a honest and truthful man. There is a gang up. They have all ganged up against Buhari and they have their collaborators everywhere, in business, politics, religion. They prayed for him to die, he didn't die. The man came back alive and stronger'' he said Osinbajo's comment comes few days after President Buhari also reacted to the allegation. https://legitnewsblog..com/2018/12/osinbajo-speaks-on-allegations-that.html
