We are no longer deceived by your propaganda. You Christian extremists, Christian fanatics and Christian intolerance in Yorubaland are cause of problems. Your days of propaganda machine is over. You call Muslims and muric despicable names in order to have your ways. We have seen it all. All your ridiculous hateful plans in your 1994 manifesto said it all. Your hatred for Islam and Muslims is top notch. We will not tolerate your intolerance. You are not interested in peaceful coexistence with your Muslims neighbors. A Muslim is peaceful only when it suit you. We are wiser now.
LadunaI: But it is self evident and confirmation that he is a Muslim because he performed prayers publicly, that is singular thing that separate Muslims from others. And I don't think the imam is wrong for doing his janazah.
Has he performed Sango rites public and he does Islamic prayers? If yes then your proposition might be valid.
This should serve as lessons to other oba to be upright before certainity comes. I was watching several Islamic programs yesterday to figure out what he died upon. Some later retracted their previous position that he died a mushrik.
For instance, oba Iwo AbdulRoshid, ko ru ju that he's Muslim and he makes himself so clear. This is how it should be to a oid confusion. I also heard yesterday that when Awujale of Ijebuland raised the issue sometimes ago, that oba should be buried in accordance to their religion Aalafin Lamidi opposed saying it contravenes isese. Likewise, Sheikh sanusi Zugloo (ra) bemoaned Aalafin of OYO Lamidi to make up his mind whether he's Muslim or sango worshipper. This proves that he openly practiced both Islam and Sango.
To avoid this, it is better for Muslim Oba to be clear or leave their oba for them. So I still thank my grandpa for rejecting obaship when it was his turn.
The phrase in the headline reminds me of Christian 1994 manifesto. One of the lines reads, "catch them young". They were referring to converting Muslim children to Christianity at the very young age.
Interestingly, we noticed that lately all these sexual perversion and ritual killings are happening in Christian institutions in most cases. Devil is catching them young.
PAGAN9JA: I posted the videos of them taking away the coffin.
If he was buried after janazah, why would they wait till night time/early dawn? Islam dictates immediate burial after janazah.
Also the video proof of Sango's youth carrying the body after the islamic rite into the palace is there for you to see.
My people were there at the real funeral. Take it or leave it.
do you think I care if traditionalists buried him?. I only wanted to verify his true religion.
So based on what I have been reading, it is clear to me that oba Lamidi was a mushrik. He was not Muslim. However, his janaza prayer by Muslims is evidently a sign that isese will significantly reduce. This is the first time ever in history that Alafin funeral performed by Muslims. But unfortunately, alfas that performed Salat janaza will have to answer to God because it is not permissible to perform Islamic prayer on nonmuslims.
Maybe Alafin religion was not clear to the imam that prayed on his body. He might based his judgement on what is apparent. What was apparent was his prayed Muslim prayers in public. I think that was the evidence used by the Imam. Anyways, it is wrong.
CrimeKsmart: The truth is Alaafin has been buried according to Islamic rite any other thing na wash. Or you are saying the cheif Imam who prayed on his body left him unburied or the body was later exhumed?
All these traditional rites is just for public to believe the culture and tradition is not dead yet.
I had the traditionalists buried him after Islamic janaza. Is this true?.
Joezinho: Rest on King. Alaafin was a hugely respected monarch in the Southwest and lived his life to the fullest. He belongs to the rarefied selection of kings all over the world who ruled for decades in great health, pomp and pageantry.. He's also an erudite Yorùbá historian and folklorist. An ardent follower of Sango and a committed Muslim. His emergence as Alaafin wasn't smooth sailing as he had running power struggle with one of his chiefs called Ashipa within his kingdom.
In rulership hierarchy in Nigeria, he's on the same pedestal as the Oòni of Ìfẹ, the Sultan of Sokoto and the Obi of Onitsha.. He will be thoroughly missed by his people and across the federation coz he was an era.
This is oxymoron. He couldn't be a devout Muslim and ardent follower of sango at the same time.
West made an horrible mistake resettling Jews back to middle east after holocaust and 5 million jews massacred by Adolf Hitler's soldiers
Just like Fulanis and Almajiri after few centuries, modern day Isrealis would relocate again to another continent to cause trouble and tell others Jehovah gave them other people's land
They relocated from Middle east to Africa during the days of Pharaoh of Egypt, it ended in chaos for Egyptian with plaque and fermine
They relocated from Middle east to Europe, it ended in world war with Adolf Hitler killing 5 million jews
They are back in the middle east after over a thousand years of migrating around, yet peaceful middle east has turned chaotic
Now their next move is to Join African Union, to bring their wahala back to Africa, But South Africa and Egypt voted against them
.
If only Africans, especially Nigerian Christians can think like you?.
Gkemz: Religion of piss doing what they specialize in while our jihad president is feeling elated by these happenings.
In 2022 you guys still have not learned the reality about that region?. You believe Fulani are trying to occupy and take over your land. Why then you hate Fulani back home?
littleguy444: No shaykh empiree I don't agree with this, firstly the major characteristic is that it has to be just, why is it that most people (esp.muslims) get away with blasphemy of other religions except for Islam or is the law applicable only to Islam , secondly is that if this guy is a son of a powerful politician the highest that can happen is to tender an apology it would never come to this. I am not saying that blasphemy is good or should be encouraged, but Nigeria is a nation of multiple religion and all these religion must be respected if we are to be just. I will say this is pure oppression, go and check El-Rufai tweet about Jesus (as) it is such an unfortunate comment he made there using a whole prophet as an item of joke this is not the type of law true Muslims should encourage.
oh well blasphemy law only applies to to Muslims. My understanding is, alleged blasphemy was committed whilst he was Muslim and later renounced Islam. I was not there and I can't be sure of this but it was what I read. He renounced to escape justice but I guess it didn't work that way.
Second, he could have been let go but over sabi nonmuslims in the name of human rights made it worse. Third, unfortunately, whether we are satisfied with a system or not, once it is signed into law it becomes law. We no longer have personal opinion again. We can only plea for leniency which is what human rights should have done but instead they were confrontational. This further implicated the guy.
As for Rufai's tweet, I learning about that from you right now. If that's true, unfortunately nothing can be done about that because Christians that supposed to uphold their biblical laws have shamelessly abandoned it. Jesus is theirs as they claimed. It is not in Sharia constitution in Nigeria to punish blasphemy against other religions. Other religions have to strive to implement their religious laws but they won't. They chose democracy.
Finally, I don't believe for once that a Muslim would blaspheme Jesus. You and I know this is even against ISLAMIC principles itself considering status of Jesus in Islam. Maybe his post was a kind jest like during debate in interfaith dialogue such as quoting certain verses that ridicule RELIGIOUS figure. This may not fall under blasphemy as far asi know.
So my understanding is there have been several nonmuslims in this same situation but they were not prosecuted.
Any reasonable legislative system will place blasphemy under free speech...The only systems where blasphemy is punishable are religious either overtly (like Saudi Arabia) in the name of offending religious sentiments)...
The problem with these religious laws is that they punish people for doing things that don't harm anybody like gays having sex and so on.. these are entirely personal choices for the actions not resulting in harm for anyone else...
If you don't believe that someone else's god/prophet isn't a real god/prophet then you shouln't get all worked up when that someone tells you that your god/prophet isn't real either...
The case of blasphemy is doubly funny cos every religious cleric blasphemes on other religions...For example the first chapter of Qur'an labels the Jews and Christians as the cursed ones and those wo have gone astray... Imagine a non-muslim saying something similar about Islam/Muslims .. the extremists would be shouting blaaasphemeee...
Religion is supposed to thrive on comparison with other religions...Show what is wrong with other religions and invite followers of those religions to your religion.... .. it's that simple..
you can talk all you want. Law is law. You violate the law you face the consequences. It is as simple as that. If you think it is only in Nigeria think again.
The Western world has limit when it comes to the so called free speech. Go to Israel, Germany, France and declare holocaust didn't exist. Wait and see what happens
Alhajiemeritus: This is the day 1 of Ramadan, let us try to avoid excessive sleeping, foul languages and we must ensure to pray all our solats at the right time. May Almighty Allah accept this as an act of Ibadah. Ameen.
