To God be the glory |
The divine Mercy Sunday, April 3, will continue to stand tall in the annals of Nsukka diocese as Rev. Lambert Ejionueme and Rev. Michael Nwabueze who had been ordained Deacons for 19 and 15 years respectively were ordained Priests by the Catholic Bishop of Nsukka diocese, Most Rev. Godfrey Onah at the St. Theresa's Cathedral, Nsukka. Although the ordination took place on Divine Mercy Sunday which perhaps made it impossible for many catholic faithful across the diocese to attend, it recorded an overwhelming attendance as the Cathedral premises was flooded by people and vehicles to the extent of causing traffic along Enugu road. In his homily at the ordination mass, Bishop Onah remarked that God, through these people's ordination, wants us to learn that God's ways are not our ways and God's time is the best, adding that whatever happened today is an act of God's love first of all, to the Church in Nsukka diocese, then to the Bishop and then to the Priests of Nsukka diocese and also to these candidates and finally to the entire people of God. He said that, rather than look for whom to congratulate, we should thank God today for remembering us after such a long time in the lives of our brothers whom he had wanted to be part of his project. To those who may want to mistake the two candidates for the ordination as “hardened criminals” who just received executive pardon from the church and therefore were ordained, the Bishop explained that when a person is ordained a Deacon, and along the line, the person is found unworthy of being ordained a priest, the Church demands that such a person, with the consent of the pope, be dismissed, but in the case of these two candidates, they were asked to wait; not dismissed. He attributed the cause of the Deacons delay to the Church, saying “before you would want to install the new Bishop as a big man and pass your judgment on the former Bishop, it has nothing to do with Bishops - it is has to do with the way the Church does her things because, had it been the Bishop who asked them to wait dismissed them, they wouldn't be here today. Lambert and Michael, if you have any idea on why you were asked to wait, it is no longer relevant. What is relevant today is that Christ came back on the 8th day because of two of you. Your classmates had received this power long ago and you were not there and he has come for you…God's ways are not our ways, there is no need looking for Culprits and Heroes”, he said. The Fr. Bishop enjoined the candidates for the ordination not to be disturbed by those who may want to malign them and attribute any action they take to the reason why they were asked to wait, noting that their position from the human point of view is not enviable because some of those they may want to correct, as well as, some of those congratulating them today will turn around to malign them and be the very first to say it would have been better they were not ordained Priests. “But that shouldn't worry you, concentrate on him on the cross - it is his judgment that you should be afraid of,” he advised. The Chief Shepherd urged the Priests of the Diocese to remain united with the Church as that is the only way they can retain their powers. According to him, “we are earthen vessels bearing precious gifts. Christ trusts us and commissions us in spite of ourselves but for you to be effective, you have to be as he is, for you to be effective, you have to be united with the Father; you have to be united with Christ in his Church.” He, however, expressed dissatisfaction with how some of the Priests deviate from the Church's teaching, preferring to do things their own way rather than the Church's way, adding that when any priest, through his disobedience or any conduct cuts the bond that ties him to his Bishop and the church, all his powers would be gone, “because, very soon some of us when we get those powers, we begin to exercise them as if they were our own and people will begin to worship us and we bask in the fame of that self worship. “I am not God: God can read your intentions; I can only judge your actions. If that action or those actions are not in keeping with the actions of people commissioned and sent by the Church (I am not God.) God may forgive you but I will do what the Church asks me to do” he submitted. While urging the lay faithful to always pray for the Priests and advise them whenever they go wrong rather than criticizing them, the Bishop condemned the spate of kidnapping in the country, especially in Nsukka warning the youths who engage in this act to desist from it. He charged Nsukka people to wake up to the threat by disclosing the identity, activities and whereabouts of the perpetrators to help fish them out. In a chat with one of the newest Priests, Fr. Lambert Ejionueme said that in spite of those 19 long years as a Deacon, he was confident that one day he will be ordained a Priest, denying ever having the thought of backing out of the Catholic Church or being dismissed from the journey to the Priesthood. He advised anybody who might face such fate to always have faith in God as that is one of the things that kept him going in those 19 years. In a similar account, Fr. Michael Nwabueze said it was the grace of God that kept him going in those 15 long years, adding that he was optimistic that one day his priestly ordination will come to pass but even at that, he was determined to serve God as a Deacon for the rest of his life if it be the will of God. He expressed optimism that nobody will suffer their kind of fate again in the Diocese, however, if it happens to anybody, the person should exercise patience and see it as the will of God because “my guiding principle is that nothing can happen to anybody without being known to God. Only God can permit that to happen, but I don't pray for that to happen again.”

crownprince102:yeah u are right but not in a decade's time. The league improve this season in the area of sponsorship cos LMC has made it know that 6 new sponsors will be named during the season. Shooting stars attendance reduced this season because of sentiments on the part of the club management. Other venues has improved attendance compare to last season. To believe that there is improvement in naija plz like this page on facebook. League management company. |
compoundd:bro please LMC is using football to unite the country don't use your lies to disunite the nation. When nassarawa utd came (a non eastern team) to Enugu was the stadium not filled? Ok to prove it https://www.nairaland.com/3064089/rangers-int-2-vs-nasarawa. If you want to see a rangers eastern empty Derby i will show it to you |
Yeah you are right but going by the performance of the LMC in the couple of seasons and now i believe that in no distant time the Nigerian entertainment industry won't be able to match the followership, sponsorship and all the matmattaz. Just relax |
If the scripts given to his son says he should insult and slap his father, will he do it? |
If I were Enugu rangers official, with the full house recorded at night against Nasarawa and heartland i would just make sure rangers plays most of his home matches at night even without supersport coverage but make adequate enlightenment to the fans about violence so that their daring team wont suffer cos of violent and make sure there is alot of security both on and off the pitch. With this crowd they can make up to 100m on gate fees only and they can easily sell the club to the people and coperate bodies. |
ALAYORMII:accepted. Remember i challenged u on that Giwa thread? |
Temptee101:ok if its not growth. From my understanding of 'growth' lets compare nigeria league of 2005 season to 2016. Price money 2005 winner got 3m with no other pay. 2015 winner got 30m with over 50m incentives. Apperance fee 2005 non, 2015 15m each clubs Tv coverage 2005 non, 2015 yes supersport Stadium attraction 2005 very bad, 2015 perfect (every body can testify to that) Salary structure 2005 minimum amount per player 15k , 2015 per player over 150k Tell me is that not growth? |
Temptee101:tell us the match where the refree was beaten. Ifeanyiubah arased ebele obi and Ifeanyiubah was penalised (which Means there is sanity in the league) to confirm it http://dailypost.ng/2016/04/01/lmc-slam-10-match-ban-on-chief-ifeanyi-ubah/. About players been owed please name the clubs with fact. About document of contract ask the players themselves and you will know who is at fault. To make you understand players like victor ezeji, fredick oboamate, mfon Udoh just to name a few never complained instead they blame their fellow players. Why? Oga ask us questions about the league that you don't understand with a free mind and you will get a convincing answer instead of saying this trash. |
ALAYORMII:since you know the answer to your questions i will answer the ones that i know then you will correct me with the ones that i don't know. This season pillars lost at home to enyimba 1-2, 3sc lost at home to warri wolves 1-2, Sunshine 1-2 kano pillars, Giwa 0-1 mfm i beg the list is endless. Now your second question, I don't know of any but since you also watch maybe you can tell us the refree that has been beaten this season |
Temptee101:ignorance is bad! What you don't know u can't know. No one is forcing you to follow nigeria league. Just know that the rate at which the league is growing it will be more popular than the Nigerian music Industry. You may disagree, but if you were old enough in the 80s and 90s no one wanted to hear nigeria songs from djs in the clubs to radio and television but now the reverse is the case. So no worry u go come here come dey say shooting stars for live and even lie that you have been following the club since when you were a baby. |
Fabrolistic:nairalanders una no go kill me with laugh... Lol... I no do am anything na. Why him go dey talk anyhow about watin him no know. Sha the question hard? Ok help me ask am this simply one. Tell us 10 clubs nickname |
groundnutoil:The blood is BLUEEEEEEE since 99 |
groundnutoil:i tire ooooo |
redvektor:yeah with CAC i think about 70k should do, while nff will require some basic things to run a club like home ground, sponsor, management structure and other charges. |
redvektor:thanks for asking this question. The First thing is if you are not buying any existing club then the First thing is to register with CAC as a non profit organisation (meet your lawyer or chartered accountant) for CAC then go to nff office to register your club in the state fa affiliated to the nff. |
ucheHapers:my bro i no get Hot temper ooooo. E dey pain me say me wey don put my sweat, money passion for nigeria league since 90s somebody wey never know any stadium for nigeria league talkless of going to watch league matches go come dey talk rubbish about the league. I don't know anything about europe league but even with the hype the European league have their are still some flop so why can't we respect our own? Afterall no body has forced anyone to watch the league |
Mekurexx:it Means 3 teams will now be relegated as against 4, every teams that have collected points from Giwa FC and scored against Giwa FC will lose it. So instead of the league to have 20 teams format it will be 19 teams |
MilesLamar:yeah even if e far that will discorage the team from misbehaving. |
yinkus204:no body is forcing you to watch the league. What you see in nigeria league has happened and will continue to happen in europe. example of teams that have been ban in europe is real madrid ban from copa del real. Imagine if nigeria club was ban from the league for fielding unregistered player you would have said said Rubbish about nigeria league but what will you say about spanish league as per this real madrid case? Does it Mean the spanish fa don't have record of their players? Plz be objective when u criticize the league. Note no one is forcing you to watch the league |
MilesLamar:The Rules says when a team is pushed away from his home ground the club is taken to any approved stadium in the geo political zone. Ilorin is in the same political zone with (Giwa FC) Jos. |
nymphomaniac:tell us what u know about the Nigerian league. To accuse naija league u most know things about the league just as you know about ur "glorified 'premier league. If you can name 10 nigeria league coaches this season, 10 stadia use this season, 20 players in the league then you are fit to insult the league but if you can't just SHUT UP and play with your toys. |
Kamsified:amen thanks sir |
SUMMARY JURISDICTION NOTICE To: Giwa FC Date: 20th May, 2016 You are in breach of Rule B13.25 of the Framework and Rules of the Nigeria Professional Football League, in that you failed to honour your fixture obligation without acceptable reason when you failed to present your team at the Ilorin Township Stadium, Ilorin on Wednesday, 18th May 2016 for your Match Day 18 fixture: Giwa FC vs. Enyimba FC. You are in breach of Rule B13.28 of the Framework and Rules of the Nigeria Professional Football League, in that within the current 2015/2016 season, you failed to honour three matches cumulatively without acceptable reason, viz: Match Day 14:Giwa FC vs. Wikki Tourists FC Match Day 16:Giwa FC vs. Akwa United FC Match Day 18:Giwa FC vs. Enyimba FC. With respect to charge (1) above, Rule B13.25 states as follows: “Any club that fails to honour its fixture obligation without any reason acceptable to the LMC may be fined up to the sum of N10,000,000.00(Ten Million Naira only) payable to the LMC in addition to all expenses incurred by the home team within fourteen (14) days; Provided that where the reason adduced is acceptable to the LMC, the fixture shall be rescheduled, otherwise, in addition to the sanctions above, the erring club shall forfeit 3 point 3 goals arising from the match.” In view of the proviso, cognizance has been taken of your letter dated 17th May 2016 (albeit delivered on 18th May 2016 at 12:26PM) and titled “Acceptance Letter to Play Enyimba Match”, wherein you communicated your acceptance to play the match under reference, with a request that the match be rescheduled “but not at Ilorin”. You will recall that due to the disturbances that occurred in your match day 12 fixture (Giwa FC vs. Rangers International FC) at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos on 17th April, 2016, you were banned from that stadium and directed to play your three subsequent home matches at the Ilorin Township Stadium; being an approved and available stadium within your geo-political zone in cognizance of the LMC standard practice aimed towards limiting the financial burden on clubs in such situations. You will recall further that this sanction was affirmed by the NFF Disciplinary Committee in its decision dated 25th April, 2016, against which you did not appeal. Notably, where a match is disrupted and uncompleted due to disturbances in the form of encroachment or the throwing of objects towards the field of play, the sanction of a stadium ban is in line with the combined provisions of Rule B13.18, B13.19 and B13.20 of the League Rules, as well as the established precedents in similar cases where the matches were so disrupted. Precedents in which other clubs received a similar stadium ban for disrupted matches include: banishment of Kano Pillars FC to Confluence Stadium, Lokoja for three home matches arising from the disturbances in their 2012/2013 match day 31 fixture – Kano Pillars FC vs. Enyimba; banishment of FC Taraba to the FIFA Technical Centre, Abuja for three home matches arising from the disturbances in their 2014/2015 match day 35 fixture: FC Taraba vs. Nasarawa United FC; banishment of Sunshine Stars FC to Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos for three home matches arising from the disturbances in their 2014/2015 match day 36 fixture: Sunshine Stars FC vs. Lobi Stars FC; Furthermore, we recall your letters dated 25th and 28th April 2016 wherein you refused to comply with the said sanction based on a purported court order and directive from the NFF. We also recall our letters to you dated 27th and 29th April 2016, advising you that there was neither a court order nor directive from the NFF with the effect of directing your club not to comply with the said sanctions and further advising you to honour your fixture obligations. We further recall the clear warnings given to you in the said letters as well as in the respective summary jurisdiction notices, as to the implication of your failure to honour your fixture obligations. Nonetheless, you failed to honour match days 14 and 16 fixtures. In the present circumstances however, it would suffice to state that no reason whatsoever has been adduced in your current letter (dated 17th May 2016) for your failure to honour the match day 18 fixture now under reference. As a result, there is no basis for a consideration of any reason for your failure. In addition, for the avoidance of doubt, your letter also failed to provide any cogent basis for the LMC to exercise its power to reschedule a match under Rule B13.10, especially as the provision requires a club to make such application not less than 72 hours before the time fixed for the match, whereas your letter was delivered less than four (4) hours to the time fixed for the match. Consequently, there is indeed no acceptable reason for your failure to honour the fixture obligation. With respect to charge (2) above, Rule B13.28 states as follows: “If a Club fails to honour three matches cumulatively within the League season without an acceptable reason to the LMC such a club shall be expelled from the League and its matches played and unplayed shall be cancelled.“ Having previously failed to honour your match day 14 (Giwa FC vs. Wikki Tourists FC) fixture obligation without any acceptable reason, as contained in the LMC Summary Jurisdiction Notice dated 3rd May 2016 and upheld by the NFF Disciplinary Committee ruling dated 12th My 2016; having also previously failed to honour your match day 16 (Giwa FC vs. Akwa United FC) fixture obligation without any acceptable reason, as contained in the LMC Summary Jurisdiction Notice dated 13th May 2016; and having now failed to honour your match day 18 (Giwa FC vs. Enyimba FC) fixture obligation without any acceptable reason; you have failed to honour three matches cumulatively within the league season. Note that the use of the word “shall” in the said Rule B13.28 stipulates that the consequential sanction of expulsion is mandatory. Based on the foregoing, the LMC intends to exercise its summary jurisdiction and to impose on you the following sanctions: for failing to honour its fixture obligation without any acceptable reason, in breach of Rule B13.25, Giwa FC shall pay a fine of N250,000.00 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only) being the sum of expenses including stadium hire, security and other logistics incurred in respect of the match; further to paragraph (a) above, Giwa FC shall forfeit to Enyimba FC the three points as well as three goals arising from the match; for failing to honour three matches cumulatively within the league season and without any acceptable reason, in breach of Rule B13.28, Giwa FC is expelled from the Nigeria Professional Football League with immediate effect and all matches involving Giwa FC, whether played or unplayed as well as the points arising or accruing therefrom are cancelled; further to paragraph (c) above, Giwa FC shall forfeit all funds previously due to it from the LMC for its participation in the 2015/2016 NPFL season, and such funds shall be used to offset the costs of the 18 clubs that had played against Giwa FC to date, on a pro rata basis; pursuant to Rule B13.66 of the League Rules and without prejudice to the agreed written terms of their respective player contracts, nothing shall preclude Players hitherto registered by Giwa FC from the unilateral termination of contracs for ‘just cause’ or ‘sporting just cause’ as the case may be, and from being contracted to and registered by other Clubs; the LMC shall review the matter of registered players and officials currently contracted Giwa FC - particularly those players who may have played at least 50% of its league matches in the current season and whose player contracts and potential earnings may have been brought to jeopardy on account of this decision - for the purpose of setting up a social safety net to mitigate any consequential hardship. You are required, within 48 hours of the date of this notice, to either: (1) submit to the Board’s jurisdiction and the sanctions imposed; or (2) elect to be dealt with by a Commission. Any such election should be in writing addressed to the undersigned at the Office of the LMC. Failure to comply with this requirement within the time limit will constitute a breach of the League Rules in respect of which you will be liable to be dealt with under the provisions of Section C. Note that in accordance with Rule E1, where an appeal or election to be dealt with by a Commission fails or is found to have been frivolous, such party may be liable to such additional sanction as may be deemed fit in the circumstances. Salihu Abubakar COO, LMC Ltd. |
optional1:We the followers of the league knew that Giwa FC had violated the league Rules and as such the penalty is an expulsion. That was why I said what you av heard was a rumour. But this afternoon the league body just confirmed it by pasting it on their website, Twitter handle and facebook page. |
optional1:The news has just been confirmed before it was a rumour |
