Literature / Re: Nairaland Literature Awards Of The Year. by Emzypaz(m): 6:22pm On Oct 17, 2014
This is a nice concept by you Divepen and a nice call by d9ty7.
But I have some reservations;
1. Just like we did last year. A voter can nominate a writer in every genre listed. As in, I can vote 14 times since we have 14 genres. It is now left for me to nominate in the right genre.
2. Like we had it last year. A story could be nominated in more than one genre and become eventuall winner. Like Sir Kayemjay's story was nominated in the crime, action and thriller. And it won in all of them. Is it possible this year too.
3. The panel of judges. I think they shouldn't be handpicked. We need to know their qualifications, are they not attached to the writers in question. Someone like me is a protegee of d9ty7, truth be told, I'll want to make sure he emerge victorious. Even though, everyone may not be like me.
4. The genres are way too much. Lets try and reduce them to a considerable amount, maybe 10. Then we include the reader's award.
5. Reducing the number of genres automatically brings about uniformity. Everyone(the judges) is carried along and voting result will be released to time.
The above are just my two cents. They should not be used against me. The best you can do is to give your own thoughts.

Glad to know this concept has been endorsed by some big fish you know. The first interview kicks off this weekend.
This is where the readers will play a part. Lets nominate one writer each to be interviewed.
Nomination starts from 9am to 5pm today.
Literature / Re: WEEKLY INTERVIEW THREAD....(A Subsidiary Of Dammysammytv) by Emzypaz(m): 1:40pm On Oct 16, 2014
-A writer will be interviewed once in a week and can also be interviewed more than once. But, the interview must go round before giving anybody a second chance to be interviewed.
-There will be an interviewing panel who at every interview date will declare the thread open for questioning.
NB: Every nairalander can come in and ask question if they so wishes.
-Writers to be interviewed will be notified through their e-mail before being announced here as the next guest on this thread.
-The interview will take place once in a week. Saturdays to be precise.
This thread is aimed at reducing the rate at which nairalanders derail story threads. Any question that does not to the story being posted should be brought here. Not too personal questions can also be asked here.
-----The interviewing panel for now are; Emzypaz, Dammygoody, Kingphilip, Princessusan and Seunviju.
Any interested nairalander man voice his/her intention at being a part of the five man panel provided one of the above won't be able to perform in his/her duties.
Thanks.

Literature / WEEKLY INTERVIEW THREAD....(A Subsidiary Of Dammysammytv) by Emzypaz(m): 1:11pm On Oct 16, 2014
After many months of consultation and deliberation with several top
Nairaland literature users, we have decided to come up with a thread
where you can get to know more about popular writers and your favourite
writers in the literature section.
This project won't be one sided, and therefore, poets from the poem
section will be included in the interview because I believe story
writing and poem are one of the two major pillars of literature.
The interview will be on a weekly basis where everybody can come in and
ask whatever question they have for their favourite writers.
Once in a while, non-writers will also have the chance to be
interviewed too.
I don't know how much this thread will be accepted by you guys but the best we can do is to try it out and see the end result.
Literature / Re: Law...(the Story Of A Man Who Took Law Into His Own Hands) by Emzypaz(m): 12:58pm On Oct 10, 2014
--*--
Folake drove into her father's compound in her black toyota prado. She
got down from the car looking tired and worn out after a very busy day
at work. She is current General manager of her father's company, Olowu
consortium.
She walked towards the main entrance. Her white shirt showing wet
patches around her armpit region as a result of perspiration. The twenty
six year old lady, 4ft 4inches tall, dark in complexion.
She walked into the spacious living room to see her father conversing
with a young man. Someone she has seen many times giving lectures and
delivering speeches at public events.
"Good afternoon daddy." She greeted her father immediately she
entered the spacios living room which was well furnished to taste. Five
black suede couches were arranged around a brown marble made centre
table and a 42 inches plasma tv hung on the wall opposite the chairs,
the dinning stood in the adjourning room to the living room.
"Hello princess." Chief Olowu, a former vice president greeted his
only daughter.
"How are you this afternoon?" the graduate of Business
Administration from the Havard university asked her father.
"Am good. What about you?" He asked.
"It was stressfull." She replied as she lazily dragged herself
towards the flight of stairs.
"Eehya! Sorry darling. Maybe you should take some days off to enable
you have adequate rest." He advised.
Talk of the devil. Chief Olowu is someone who in his active years, he
hates the discussion about holidays or leaves. He always wants hundred
percent effectiveness and efficeiency on every days of the week. Sundays
inclusive. But the moment he ventured into politics, those agilities
reduced drastically.
"Okay dad. I'll rest tomorrow being friday. Then throughout the
weekend." She replied.
"Folake." Chief Olowu called his daughter's retreating figure.
"Sir." She replied.
"Meet Barrister Patrick." He said.
She walked toward the man who was already on his feet. How humble he
is.
"The famous Pat the law?" She asked smiling.
"Yes." Patrick replied.
"Oh! am honoured to meet you. I am Folakemi Olowu." She said
taking his already extended hand in a handshake.
"I am Patrick Williams Jnr. Pleased to meet you."
"The pleasure is mine." Folake added as she walked out of the living room smiling. The stressful day ended up real goor for her, as she met the man she's been dying to see face to face.
Barrister Partrick was nicknamed 'pat the law' as a result of his knowledge of the rule of law, the constitution and even the biblical ten commandments. He was invited to a function as the guest speaker to speak on the topic, Africa and unemployment. The young barrister got there and was ranting and quoting the constitution for almost an hour before he came back to the topic he was asked to shed light on. Everything about him is law. When you talk of Patrick think of Law.
"Princess. He is your guest." Chief Olowu informed.
"Really? I'll be back in a jiffy. I need to freshen up." She replied hastily.
