Parents, check carefully before casting stones. Are you guilty in any way of the allegations listed by this precious child?

Business / Another Business Directory? by enaye1(f): 10:28am On Feb 28, 2013
I was so so disappointed to learn about the demise of Mocality of recent but was then encouraged to stumble upon a another business directory(though with a different outlook it would seem) called nigerianbusinesslisting. This is for all business owners or searchers who like me have come to make good use of directories for smooth running of business.

jidegirl12: To each his own...... On Dance and gymnastics big days , the schools have make up artist to work on kids ( 3&up) faces with heavy makeups.... so this is not about Naija moms only.... Mine play with my makeups for dress up play/pretend ( it's okay for me), not outings tho or their Daddy will ask me if I'm sane cheesy
lol

It depends on how convenient you are.... I don't sweat small stuff jare.

Yeah play acting is ok. and face painting is kiddies play. What I think d poster is talking about here is serious adult make up like lipstick, mascara and glitter etc for going out. Heck I see it often in church yes church!

greatgod2012: D mum in story is only being silly, why differnt shades on a 3years old girl, as in WTF?

As for me, till my daughter can decide on her own, of what she want and what she doesnt want, i cant imagine myself doing that for a baby girl. She has to decide that on her own.

What she if 'decides' to use lipstick, foundation and such when she is 6 or 7? is that ok?

When they are older, that is their doggone BIZZ! kiss

Oho my take too, let them grow up first. allow them be kids, they grow too soon btw.

Mtcheeewwww, the nonsense some parents do to their kids! and to think that they believe they are helping the kids! what does a little girl need make up for? what is she making up? to attract who? to what end? what that mom is saying or telling her baby is you are ugly with your natural eyebrows so I got to reconstruct you to be acceptable. To think that waxing is a painful thing o! and for a baby too haba!
Family / Re: How To Handle A Child's Tantrum In Public? by enaye1(f): 10:20pm On Dec 20, 2012
smartmom: Ok I hear all these tactics but this wouldnt work for me in naija o! Infact an older woman actually 'suggested' to me to smack him shut so he will behave but all I have read in the books points else where.

Funny enough my older kids were not like this as toddlers. Matter of fact my eldest thinks I have lost my steam and that I am spoiling him. undecided

Its true that the older a parent gets the less the starch in child discipline so I can empathize with your older kid.

On how to handle a tantrum, I recently browsed this parenting site and it has excellent solutions:

Family / Re: How To Tell Your Child Needs Extra Coaching In Maths by enaye1(f): 12:50pm On Dec 11, 2012
My opinion is to really be sure your child needs that coach before employing the his services. I cam across a similar thread and I think you should search out the signs and see if ur child falls into that category 1st. I was actually thinking that was what u were talking about here too.

U certainly got awesome advice here and I hope u will take them to heart. Consider urself privileged to be as educated as u are. What u were not in the position to even help?

Also ask for grace and favour from the almighty to fulfill ur duty joyfully. There is a reward for it.
Family / Re: Is TT Really Necessary In Pregnancy? by enaye1(f): 10:31pm On Nov 23, 2012
Hey smartmom wink since u are so smart, u got the correct answer here lol, how can she guarantee that her baby will not want to make an entrance in the market near an abbatoir for that matter?. My advice is to take the injection sharp sharp.

Same reason why what we call or see as good training is now labelled 'child labour'. Methinks its alot of crap, you ask your child to do the dishes and he tells you its child labour. When we were growing up, everybody had duties or chores to do daily and I tell you it helped to shape up our sense of responsibility. Yes we do need those values in place Kobojunkie!

See more on this here too;

Check out other parents' view on this thread. I am thrilled that naija parents are rising up now to this extremely crucial issue;

Great thread. Sure glad to find it.And happy and relieved to see that some naija women are on thesame side with me on this issue. My daughter amongst her 3 brothers is definitely a princess and no silly person is going to tell her otherwise.
Efemena_xy:

Noooooooooo nah! But it was easy to guess that must have been the film you were talking about.

No other film from that era beats the Exorcist. Omen I,II & III were okay, and so were those zombie movies too - but not as heavy as the exorcist.

Besides, it was fun watching it with my brothers and sisters, especially with us girls. Nothing like a good 'ol scream, us crying and hugging ourselves out of fright, I tell you cheesy cheesy

Lol, even now memories of the exorcist gives me the jibbers and I will NOT allow any child of mine watch it ever!!! Twilight Zone was another baaad one. My 1st kid watched our own Nollywood ''Blood Money'and couldnt sleep in his room for weeks on end so I can imagine them watching The Exorcist... no way

A very annoying thing to see modern parents thinking it is cool to say their offspring cannot speak their language, ha! methinks its quite silly to think its cute or modern. It is actually colonial mentality! angry

Family / Re: Which Is More Nutitional? Ogi Or Dry Canned Cereal? by enaye1(f): 6:00pm On Jul 18, 2012
Personally i dont take pap & dint give it to any of my kids & 90% of the kids i saw been fed with it were underweight especially those that claimed that they added crayfish, soya beans etc to enrich it. I used canned cereals for my children (nutrend and cerelac and later golden morn which are all from a known quality brand (nestle) and it worked wonderfully for all of them and it is readily available & dont stay long on the shelf before they are sold off. This eliminates the problem of expired products. Its when we tend to be adventurous with foreign products that have no ready market that we encounter expired products that the dates have been changed cos it has stayed too long on the shelf & the trader does not want to loose. But in the long run you give to your child what you feel is best for him/her.
I could post a picture of my baby here for you to convince you of his state of health. He is certified by his pediatrician as very healthy and on the heavy side. He is also very mentally sharp and exhibits great psycho motor skills beyond his age with clear skin and eyes. He does not lack for anything. Yes this may sound boastful but going by his performance, I can confidently recommend his type of food to any parent.

Akpunwa: I rely on reputable products (cereals & formula alike) and not just any fancy product in the market. Moreover I do not buy if the tin is not in good condition or there is mago mago on the print.
Hmm how would be certain there is no mago mago by the way? our marketers are very smart my sista. And I assure you all tinned food had preservation otherwise it wouldnt keep for a normal shelf life of 2 years and above.
Family / What Is Child Labour? by enaye1(f): 7:03pm On Jul 15, 2012
What do parents consider child labour in naija? While I do not agree that kids be turned to slaves, I still consider helping with house chores a necessary pathway to proper upbringing in our set up but these days with all the housegirls and all, I hear friends saying its unfair to make kids do house work. What is your take parents?
Family / Re: Starting Daycare by enaye1(f): 6:28pm On Jul 15, 2012
If you can help it wait till your baby can tell you how her day went before sending her anywhere. A good check too is to visit the daycare several times and observe how the babies interact with their minders and other kids. Also find out the minder/child ratio anything beyond 3 kids to a minder isnt good enough, imagine a mummy with more than triplets, she is human for God's sake! Check out the sleeping quarters too(they will be spending most of the time there) and see for yourself their laundry and toilets too. The kitchen is vital too.
