Celebrities / Comedian 'I GO DYE' Speaks On Buhari Govt Banning Bbnaija Over Live Sex by EndyEdesonNews(m): 2:43pm On Aug 21, 2019
Popular Nigerian comedian and social commentator, Francis Agoda, better known as ‘I Go Dye’, on Tuesday said the proposed plan by the federal government to ban Big Brother Naija reality show cannot be successfully implemented.

According to him, banning any creative work with intellectual right across borders is an effort in futility.

The Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture, NCAC, Otunba Segun Runsewe, had lodged a complaint with the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC,

condemning live sex during the show.

Reacting, I Go Dye described the federal government’s move to ban the reality show as ‘a misplaced priority.’

He told newsmen in Lagos, “Government cannot successfully ban anything with intellectual right in its totality. If you ban it in Nigeria, are they going to stop all Nigerians abroad from watching it in their various countries?

Quote

“Let’s be objective. The approach should be for them to partner with such agencies and brands to re-orientate the youths more positively. What concept has the Ministry of Information, Orientation and other mass mobilization institutions created within the last 20-years of our new democratic journey?

“The world is now a global village and information dissemination is cheap and very accessible due to the advent of ICT.

“Government should be more proactive than being critic; explore positive mediums to establish their civil ideals instead of being confrontational.

“If we take a look at the music and film industry in Nigeria, you will agree with me that they have not supported or added one value to the content or production improvement. They should not be credited for just banning or infringing on the rights of concept and content developers.

“This is a challenge for them to meet and consult with relevant stakeholders towards bringing national ideals to the public domain. I kindly appeal for caution and discretion towards issues like this,”

Celebrities / 'hard Life' Crooner, Blackface Denies Suing Ruggedman, 2baba, Faze by EndyEdesonNews(m): 2:36pm On Aug 21, 2019
Blackface, has come out to refute reports that he has sued popular rapper, Ruggedman, former Plantashun Boiz bandmates, 2Baba and Faze for damaging the image of the once vibrant Plantashun Boiz music group.
According to the ‘Hard Life’ rapper in a chat with E-Daily, the letter which was misinterpreted to have been a lawsuit was a mere letter notifying Ruggedman, 2Baba and Faze not to perform songs written by him for the band or any of the band’s song at Ruggedman’s forthcoming
concert tagged ‘The Foundation Concert and Awards’, which has 2Baba and Faze as guest artistes.

Quote
“Report has gone viral on the internet that I have sued 2Baba, Faze and Rugged man are mere propaganda. I never said I was suing them for damaging the image of Plantashun Boiz. If they read the letter properly they would have had a proper understanding of what it says. I only informed them that performing any of Platashun Boiz’s song at the said concert would amount to an infringement on my registered copyright. However, the band, Platashun Boiz was not contracted for the show Ruggedman is currently promoting, so 2Baba or Faze shouldn’t go there and perform any song by the band because copyright over the songs belong to the band and not any individual,”
he said.
When E-Daily reached out to Ruggedman on the matter, he said;

Quote
“I have no comments on this matter at the moment because I’m busy planning my forthcoming show with positive-minded artistes. Maybe in the nearest future, I may decide to talk about it; but for now, all my time and energy is channelled into planning my show.”

Science/Technology / NASA Chasing Golden Asteroid That Could Make Everyone On Earth A Billionaire by EndyEdesonNews(m): 8:08am On Aug 03, 2019
According to various sources, NASA has their eyes on a huge golden asteroid, and this particular space body could make us all billionaires. Referred to a Psyche 16, this ‘golden egg’ is located between Mars and Jupiter, and is supposedly solid metal.
While it contains gold, it also is said to contain other precious metals such as platinum, iron and even nickel. The Sun reports that it’s estimated total worth is a whopping $10,000 quadrillion. If the asteroid was to be brought to Earth, it could actually destroy the world’s economy, which is currently worth $75.5 trillion.
If anything launches this metals mining space race, it will be this asteroid – Psyche 16, taking up residence between Mars and Jupiter and carrying around enough heavy metals to net every single person on the planet close to a trillion dollars.
The massive quantities of gold, iron and nickel contained in this asteroid are mind-blowing. The discovery has been made. Now, it’s a question of proving it up.
NASA plans to do just that, beginning in 2022.
Of course, says veteran miner Scott Moore, CEO of EuroSun Mining “The ‘Titans of Gold’ now control hundreds of the best-producing properties around the world, but the 4-5 million ounces of gold they bring to the market every year pales in comparison to the conquests available in space.”
In the decades to come, if you want to be a gold titan, you’ll have to get your feet off the ground. The real titans will be far from Earth. Moore should know: He heads up a junior mining company that is seeking a seat at the titan table with the biggest in-development gold mine in Europe.

Can we actually extract this space gold? That is the quintillion-dollar question, certainly.
Speaking to Outerplaces, Professor John Zarnecki, president of the Royal Astronomical Society, estimates that it would take around 25 years to get ‘proof of concept’, and 50 years to start commercial production.

Celebrities / Female Writer Accuses Donald Trump Of Raping Of Her In A Dressing Room by EndyEdesonNews(m): 10:19am On Jun 22, 2019
US President Donald Trump has dismissed allegations that he raped a woman in a department store dressing room in the mid-1990s as "fiction". The US president says he never met E. Jean Carroll and accusing her of making up the allegation to sell a new book. Ms Carroll says she did not report the alleged attack at the time after being advised by a friend she had no chance of winning in court. Her story was published in New York magazine on Friday. More than a dozen women have previously made sexual misconduct allegations against Mr Trump, which he has denied.

What does E. Jean Carroll allege?

In the article, she describes meeting Mr Trump in late 1995 or early 1996, in Bergdorf Goodman. She says she recognised him as the "real estate tycoon" and that he told her he was buying a present for "a girl".

She says Mr Trump knew she was a TV agony aunt and the two joked around, encouraging each other to try on some lingerie.

She alleges that they then went to a dressing room, where she accuses him of raping her.

Both Mr Trump and Ms Carroll were aged around 50 at the time, and he was married to Marla Maples.

Ms Carroll says she told two friends about the alleged incident, one of whom advised her to go to the police.

But she says the other advised her against telling anyone saying: "Forget it! He has 200 lawyers. He'll bury you."

The accusation is one of six alleged attacks by "awful men" that Ms Carroll details in her article.

Another alleged incident involves Les Moonves, the former CEO of CBS. He resigned in 2018 after allegations of sexual misconduct.

Mr Moonves' representative told New York magazine he "emphatically denies" the incident.

Ms Carroll ends the article by saying Mr Trump was her "last hideous man" and she has not had sex since then.

How did Trump respond?

"I've never met this person in my life," the US president said in a statement. "She is trying to sell a new book - that should indicate her motivation. It should be sold in the fiction section."

Mr Trump encouraged anyone with information that the Democratic Party is working with Ms Carroll or New York Magazine to notify the White House.

He accused the publication of "peddling fake news".

"Shame on those who make up false stories of assault to try to get publicity for themselves, or sell a book, or carry out a political agenda," he said.

"It's just as bad for people to believe it, particularly when there is zero evidence," he added.

In his statement, Mr Trump thanked Bergdorf Goodman, the upmarket New York department store where the incident allegedly took place, for "confirming they have no video footage of any such incident".

Politics / Why We Suspended School Feeding Programme In Some States - FG by EndyEdesonNews(m): 12:56pm On Jun 17, 2019
Maryam Uwais, the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investments has explained why the Homegrown School Feeding Programme of the Federal Government was suspended in some states.
There had been reports of poor quality food, insufficient and irregular supply of food, as well as late disbursement of funds by the government in states, such as Akwa Ibom and Niger. But reacting to the development, Uwais said the Federal Government had started conducting a headcount of pupils being fed under the programme.

She explained that the National Social Investment Office had engaged the National Bureau of Statistics to conduct a headcount of pupils and those cooking the food under the intervention programme.
Uwais said the outcome of the data in the affected states was being reconciled, adding that it became necessary to do this due to the discovery of a  disagreement between the figures provided by officials of the State Universal Basic Education Board and what the monitors on the field actually reported.
She also noted that pupils had not been fed since April due to reconciliation efforts.

“We have been reconciling the data in the states after engaging the NBS to conduct a headcount of pupils and cooks for us. Essentially, we found conflicting reports of the figures between official SUBEB figures and reports from monitors in the field.

“We mobilised the NBS to venture into all government-owned primary schools where we are feeding to confirm the numbers and those actually feeding. So yes, we haven’t fed the pupils since April due to reconciliation efforts, as some of the states are contesting the figures. We (will) start feeding on June 24 for the states that have been feeding, irrespective of their protests. That is the cut-off-date for all protests.”
The Federal Government had in 2015 designed the social safety programme to improve the lives of all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, political affiliation and social class. The Buhari administration had structured the programme to be impact-oriented, specifically catering to the needs of the poor, the vulnerable and those at the bottom of the social ladder without access to finance.

Uwais had last month said the thrust from inception had been to provide a nourishing and balanced meal for 200 school days in a year to pupils in classes one to three in public primary schools so as to boost enrolment, increase the cognitive function in children and battle malnutrition.

She added, “Nigeria is fast on its way to becoming the leader in Africa by feeding over 9.7 million pupils and still counting.”  To implement the programme, she said the government required 94 metric tons of fish, 7,260,862 eggs and 767 cattle slaughtered for the pupils being fed.  She added that fruits, vegetables and grains were part of the carefully thought-out balanced diet for all of the pupils.

Webmasters / How To Cope With Email Overload, Too Many Messages (tips) by EndyEdesonNews(m): 6:48pm On Jun 14, 2019
You have to pick and choose what you think is going to be relevant to yourself... you can get cc'ed into so many emails that are nothing to do with yourself whatsoever. And there's the key problem with email. The message that might contain the single most important thing you need to know all year, could well disappear into the landfill that is your inbox.

"Email overload is causing people to get ill," says Cary Cooper, organisational psychology professor at Manchester University. His research has found that higher email load is associated with higher workload stress. "The problem is there aren't good guidelines on what is the best use of email and the things we should not do," he says.

Email Overload Isn’t Really About Email

Email overload is really just a symptom of a much larger issue – either on a personal level or with corporate protocols. On a personal level, not having standards with how email is managed leads to a constant review of the inbox while trying to work on other more pertinent projects. Every time you hear a “ding” on your phone, you zone off from the task at hand into something completely different.

So, your email transforms from a simple communication tool to a distraction.

For corporations with unclear communication guidelines, the inbox becomes a dumping ground for every thought, idea, meeting request, note, memo, and corporate communication – to the point where everything gets buried and nothing is important.

Can you remember the last time you lost something important in your inbox, and wasted precious time searching and sorting through email threads trying to find a simple piece of information? It likely wasn’t that long ago.

It also creates a vicious cycle. When you get stuck trying to manage a backlog of emails then your response time drops dramatically. This leads to additional follow up emails which just adds to the chain of noise.

Whether from a lack of corporate control or personally mismanaged time, there are plenty of ways to get caught up and manage the torrential flow of email going forward.

Tip #1: Write Shorter Emails

A good way to get crushed by email overload is to spend too much time responding to each person. Naturally, you want to make sure your communication is understood, but taking the time to explain every detail assumes that your recipient won’t understand even the most basic instructions.

Save yourself a lot of time and keep your emails short and sweet. Write in short sentences, avoid fluff, and use bullet points to get the idea across quickly.

Tip #2: Don’t Use Reply All

Hitting “reply all” when it’s not necessary just populates everyone’s inbox with unnecessary emails, especially if your response is only intended for one person, or a select segment of the group in the email.

It can also elicit a lot of unnecessary responses with people weighing in that don’t really need to reply. That fills your own inbox with additional emails that you need to waste time managing and removing.

Tip #3: Stop with Follow Up Emails

It’s great that you want to be polite, but not every email needs to have a follow-up. Emails that contain little more than polite responses to signify that you received an email aren’t necessary. You don’t need to acknowledge every email you receive. While it may seem friendly, it only wastes your time.

Tip #4: Consider a Social Intranet

If the majority of your employees communicate via email it leads to email overload for everyone. You can replace company-wide, and department-specific distribution lists by switching over to a social intranet.

Platforms like Salesforce have social integration to make communication easier so teams don’t get buried in emails constantly. You’ll find similar functionality in many project management systems. Not only can this help control email overload, they can be used to make processes more efficient as you streamline communications.

Tip #5: Stop Flashing Your Email Address

If your email is valuable to you, and you’re aware of email overload becoming a problem, then limit who has access to your email address. If it’s readily available on your website, business card, social channels, article author bios and more, then pull it. That’s like flashing money in the street.

Give people your email address and that will be the way they choose to reach out and contact you. You can control email overload by controlling the communication channels you leave open for people.

Tip #6: Stop Being Polite

If you’re getting unsolicited emails in an already busy account, don’t be afraid to tell people not to contact you. Don’t be shy about who you do and do not want to receive emails from. A pushy sales rep will continue to reach out to you unless you make it very clear that you don’t want to hear from them.

“I am not interested in your service/product. Please don’t use this email in the future, it is for important business only.”

Tip #7: Implement Social Chat

If you don’t want to invest in a major platform like Salesforce, you can always use a simpler communication alternative besides email. A tool like Slack or Fleep lets your teams communicate with one another in archived discussions without jamming up inboxes.

It’s also much easier to follow, archive, and search discussion threads. At Tallyfy, we use Slack to communicate among our individual teams and rarely need to rely on email save for the most critical updates.

Tip #8: Use Inbox Management Software

There are a lot of tools that’ll make managing your inbox a lot easier. Unroll.me, for example, allows you to bulk up all the promotional Emails in one single Email, or unsubscribe from each newsletter with a click.

Sanebox, on the other hand, splits the Emails into two categories: important or personal VS promotional.  The first kind you get ASAP, the later in daily email re-caps.

For more Email management software, check out our complete list of the best tools on the market.

Tip #9: Keep Your Work Email Work-Only

Treat your email like a locked, password-protected gate allowing direct access to you. You wouldn’t give every person you meet a key to just walk into your house and interrupt you, so don’t treat your email the same.

Setup a throwaway account you can use for any groups, lists, and general communications. This way your primary email is only used for the most important of business matters. You can check your throwaway account at the beginning or end of the day when it won’t interrupt your normal workflow.

Tip #10: BLUF

BLUF stands for “Bottom Line Up Front”. Get the main point across in your email and start working with employees to get them to practice the same formatting. This is great for detail heavy emails and makes it easy for someone to skim the email and get the point without having to read hundreds of words to understand the purpose of the email.

This will help your employees, and you, spend far less time sorting and reviewing emails.

Tip #11: Use Email Templates

Don’t waste time writing fresh responses to every email you receive. More than likely, the same email is sent fairly often to users, employees, leadership, customers, etc. Generate email templates that are stored and can be customized for the recipient.

So, create a template for any specific situation which just needs a tiny bit of personalization. This’ll end up saving a lot of time for you and your employees, allowing you to focus on what’s important.

Tip #12: Block Out Time for Email

If you’re the type to drop what you’re doing every time your email goes off, then you should consider designating time for email in blocks throughout the day rather than letting it constantly interrupt your workflow.

Review it when you arrive at work, then check it a few times idea in small time blocks. Don’t sweat missing anything critical. If it’s an emergency, they’ll follow up quickly with a phone call, or bypass email and call you anyway.

To make sure you hold up to this, you can try using BatchedBox, a tool that bulks up all the non-urgent Emails together and sends them to you at specific times per day.

Tip #13: Stop Relying on Email for Workflows

It’s fairly common to drop follow up emails on projects and move to the next steps via email updates. This is a good way to lose tasks, miss events, and spend far too much time digging through email threads for details.

All it takes is one missed email to grind a process to a halt.

Use a tool that helps to automate processes and create approval workflows. With more automation, projects continue to move forward without the high volume of emails going back and forth to track the steps of each process.

Nairaland / General / A Baby Cut From His Mother's Womb During Attack Dies (photos) by EndyEdesonNews(m): 6:14pm On Jun 14, 2019
A baby cut from his mother's womb during a brutal attack in Chicago has died after two months on life support, a family spokeswoman has said. Yovanny Jadiel Lopez, the infant son of 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, had been in intensive care since the April attack that killed his mother. Police say Ms Ochoa-Lopez was strangled after arranging to meet a woman to pick up free baby clothes. Her son died on Friday of severe brain injury, the family spokeswoman said. "It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of baby Yovanny Jadiel Lopez," Julie Contreras said in a statement. "Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this difficult time."
Representatives for the family told US media that the baby's condition had deteriorated this week.
"He suffered irrevocable brain damage," Ms Contreras said, according to local TV station WLS.
"There's no medicine, there's no pill that can fix that. Only a miracle."

Three people have been charged in the killing of Ms Ochoa-Lopez.
Police allege that Clarisa Figueroa, 46, lured the pregnant teenager to her home in south-west of Chicago with the promise of free baby clothes after connecting on Facebook.
Ms Figueroa allegedly strangled the 19-year-old with a cable. Once Ms Ochoa-Lopez had died, her baby was forcibly removed from her womb with a butcher's knife.
Ms Figueroa was allegedly helped by her daughter, Desiree Figueroa, 24.
Ms Ochoa-Lopez was nine months pregnant at the time.
"Words really cannot express how disgusting and thoroughly disturbing these allegations are," Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said last month.
