INEC offices across the 21 local government areas are currently distributing sensitive and non-sensitive materials for Saturday’s Anambra governorship election, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Nkwachukwu Orji, has said.

Mr. Orji told the News Agency of Nigeria in Awka on Friday that 10 security operatives would accompany the materials to the Registration Area Centres (RACs).

He said that security operatives would secure the materials until Saturday, adding that the Police had pledged its commitment to the commission on this exercise.

“We are hopeful that the police and others operatives will make good their promise,” Mr. Orji said.

NAN recalls that all non-sensitive materials for the election were distributed on October 30 while sensitive materials were sent to INEC offices in the 21 local government areas on Thursday for distribution to the RACs on Friday.

A NAN correspondent monitoring the exercise reports heavy security presence at the various council areas from where the materials were being conveyed to the RACs.

Also, INEC ad-hoc workers were seen checking their names and placement for the governorship election.

NAN reports that party agents of only five political parties — PDP, APGA, APC, UPP and ACPN – were at Njikoka, Dunukofia and Awka South council areas.

Reacting to the exercise, Donatus Emecheta, the APC party agent, said that the distribution of the election materials was smooth.

Onuorah Iyizoba of PDP and Ikem Oliobi of UPP party agent, corroborated Emecheta’s views, adding that there were no challenges so far.

Similarly, Chinedu Anaekwe of APGA, said he was satisfied with the peaceful distribution of the sensitive materials and expressed the hope the election proper would also be hitch-free.

The Electoral Officer for Njikoka council area, Obioma Onuiri, said that everything was moving as planned, adding that security officers were on ground to protect the ad hoc workers.

Also commenting, Ubaku Ugwunebo, INEC officer from Kogi State deployed as a RAC Supervisor for ward 3 and 4 in Abagana community, said that the environment at the moment showed positive signs of a peaceful election.

NAN reports that the situation was not different at Dunukofia and Awka South as the activities were smooth.

The Electoral Officers at Dunukofia and Awka South, Messrs Onyeji Victor and Okikie Chinedu, also noted that the distribution of the sensitive materials were without hitches.

NAN reports that the sensitive materials were received by INEC on November 16 from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Awka branch, in the presence of party agents, election observers and the media.

Also, the distribution of sensitive materials to local government areas in the state was clustered into five groups based on distance, terrain and voter density.

'We were disturbed when we saw those scripts. This was why we investigated. You may recall that el-Rufa’i has directed the conversion of all redundant staff in the local education authorities to teachers. Among those converted were messengers, carpenters, labourers, security personnel among others. We were made to write the exam in question with those people. Our investigation revealed that

candidate number EKUB 0059 displayed by el-Rufa’i was a carpenter in Kubau local government before he was forcefully taken to class.

Candidate number EKUB 2839 was a messenger in the same local government.

If you remember all attempts to draw the attention of the government on the implication of their action fell on deaf ears.

Again, those that marked this exam are the illiterates, because even these candidates with their limited knowledge have answered some of the questions correctly but they were marked wrong.”

Foreign AffairsPhotos Of Robert Mugabe Meeting Army Chief by engineerboat(op): 5:54pm On Nov 16, 2017
President Mugabe meets ZDF Commander General Constantino Chiwenga, Father Fidelis Mukonori and South African envoys at State House this afternoon.

The Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe was shown meeting Thursday with the army commander who put him under house arrest, as negotiations with a South African delegation and a Catholic priest at the state house pushed for a resolution to the political turmoil and the likely end to Mugabe's decades-long rule.

The state-run Zimbabwe Herald newspaper published what it called new photos of the meeting Thursday afternoon. It said details were to come.

South Africa President Jacob Zuma, speaking in parliament, said the political situation "very shortly will be becoming clear."

Seizing on the political limbo to speak out, civil society groups and opposition leaders urged Mugabe to step aside after 37 years in power and for the country to transition into free and fair elections.

Mugabe has been in military custody, reportedly with his wife, since the army stepped in overnight Tuesday. There was no sign of former Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, whose firing last week angered supporters in the military amid widespread concern that unpopular first lady Grace Mugabe would take his place.

The military remained in the streets of Harare. Southern African regional officials were meeting in neighboring Botswana on the crisis.

A joint statement by more than 100 civil society groups urged the 93-year-old Mugabe, the world's oldest head of state, to peacefully step aside and asked the military to respect the constitution. A joint statement by churches also appealed for calm.

One analyst said he believed the negotiations "have pretty much reached an end point" to get Mugabe to step aside and that it was a "matter of hours or days."

Knox Chitiyo, associate fellow with the Africa program at Chatham House, warned that speculation remains high but said the aim was a peaceful, managed transition. He said the military wants a dignified exit for Mugabe, who has ruled since independence from white minority rule in 1980 and remains widely known, even praised, in Africa as a liberation leader.

Chitiyo said he doesn't know where the ailing Mugabe would go but that the destination is "likely driven by his health." Mugabe routinely seeks medical treatment in Singapore.

Opposition leaders spoke out but said they had not been contacted as part of the Mugabe negotiations.

Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, who shared power with Mugabe between 2009 and 2013, said Mugabe must resign and said his party would participate in talks on a transitional mechanism if approached.

He pointedly referred to Mugabe as "Mister."

A vice president who was fired in 2014, Joice Mujuru, called for "free, fair and credible elections" following a transition arrangement that draws from a range of communities.

Zimbabwean Evan Mawarire, the pastor whose #ThisFlag social media campaign last year led to the largest anti-government protests in a decade, asked: "Should we just sit and wait or shall we at least be part of this transition process?"

Across the country, Zimbabweans long frustrated by crackdowns on dissent and a collapsing economy were enjoying freedoms they haven't had in years. For once, they weren't contending with bribe-seeking police officers who mounted roadblocks every few miles (kilometers).

Soldiers manning the few checkpoints leading into downtown Harare greeted motorists with a smile, searching cars without hostilities and wishing motorists a safe journey.

Street vendors who endured police raids after Mugabe ordered their removal were working without hassles. Trade unions urged workers to go about their business.

"The situation is quite OK because they are now returning to their jobs," said one resident, Clinton Mandioper.

Human rights groups urged respect for rights as the drama played out.

Amid questions about the whereabouts of first lady Grace Mugabe, one Namibian newspaper, the New Era, reported that the country's foreign minister denied she had fled there.

The U.S. Embassy advised citizens in Zimbabwe to "limit unnecessary movements" as political uncertainty continues. The British government also urged its citizens to avoid large gatherings and any demonstrations.

PoliticsRe: Farida Waziri, Before We Forget In Reply To "I Am Thankful Jonathan Sack Me" by engineerboat(op): 10:14am On Nov 14, 2017
Just two days ago, it surfaced on this forum how APC e-warriors were all over the forum praising Mrs Farida Waziri, as contained in the thread below.
https://www.nairaland.com/4172500/thankful-jonathan-sacked-me-farida

However what they failed to realized is the reasons behind Her sack which she failed to tell the whole Nigeria.

we read below the reasons as given by Jonathan Himself.

Jonathan explained that he had to sack Waziri from the headship of the anti-graft agency because she no longer enjoyed the confidence of Nigerians as chairman of EFCC. The President’s comments are contained in a publication by EFCC entitled Zero Tolerance, to mark its first decade of existence. Jonathan said in the publication, which was made available to Vanguard, yesterday, that contrary to claims that he was interfering with the work of the commission, he had no interest in doing so and would not stop any agency from exercising their duties. Farida Waziri, former Chairperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commisssion. Farida Waziri, former Chairperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commisssion. The President said: “When I give you a job, I will give you time to do it. Assuming somebody, who is heading an agency that is supposed to handle corruption, is not doing that and says it is because of the President’s body language, that person is not competent. “I am one Nigerian that has the privilege of holding this office that gives these people the latitude to do their work. Confidence in Lamorde “I am happy that Nigerians have confidence in EFCC and in its chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde and I also have confidence in him. “I have no personal relationship with Lamorde. He even investigated me while I was the governor of Bayelsa State. But I have confidence in him, given his track record. “Of course, there was a lady who was there. There were lots of complaints. Some may be right, some may be wrong, but perception matters so much when handling matters like corruption. “The confidence of the people must be there. I had to remove her and that does not mean that she is guilty of the allegations, but because I saw that Nigerians no longer had confidence in her.”

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/09/why-i-sacked-farida-waziri-jonathan/

what the Nairaland BMC crew (sarrki, madridguy et. al) did not know is that this woman is an embodiment of Corruption herself.

Nigeria continued to sink in Transparency International’s annual Corruption Perception Index during Mrs Waziri’s tenure at the EFCC.

“Things got so bad at her last year at the EFCC (2011) that we moved from 134 in 2010 to 143 in 2011 which represented a backward movement of 9 points. Which God-fearing leader would leave a person responsible for such retrogression as the head of a sensitive institution as the EFCC.

so the best APC government could do now is t start bringing back all that have been sack for alleged corruption by PDP government in order to continue in their stealing prey. notable among them are

1. Syva (former Bayelsa Governor)
2. Maina (Maina Gate)
3. Now Waziri (Former EFFC currupted Chairman)

we are now in the era of bringing back corruption in full motion.

Former Minister of National Planning, Professor Abubakar Sulaiman has dared President Muhammadu Buhari to get ready to account for the deaths of about 400 members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria also known as Shiites and the Indigenous People of Biafra killed under his administration.

Abubakar Sulaiman Professor Sulaiman made the charge while declaring his ambition to vie for the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the December 9 convention.

He also chided the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for doing too little to tame the menace of corruption, terrorism and economic hardship in the land.

“Our president should be ready to account for the blood of 400 innocent Shiite Muslims massacred in Zaria, that of the lDP refugees, the massacre of IPOB members and other state sponsored attacks

. “Mr. President must be prepared to account for the deep hatred he has shown towards certain ethnic groups, which is evident in the lopsided appointments and recruitments carried out by his administration against such ethnic groups in the country. “Today, Nigeria is at a crossroad. Less than three years after the exit of our great party (PDP) from government, our country bleeds profusely from corruption, inept leadership, civil strives and economic hardship.

“The state of insecurity is quite alarming. The number of casualties arising from the menace of kidnapping, terrorism, herdsmen genocide and other forms of state sponsored terrorism are very disturbing,” he said, noting that

“Poverty is now more evident in most families and homes across the country by the Buhari government.”

The ex-Minister whose remarks drew applause from the audience further warned President to prepare for a day of reckoning, stressing that his governance style does not reflect the attributes of a good Islamic leader.

He continued: “When a leader’s mind is corrupt, nothing good can come out of it. As a spiritual being, there is no gain, saying that we will be judged someday by our creator and so I urge president Mohammed Buhari to prepare to face Allah on his style of governance that has emboldened selective justice by shielding the Babachirs, the Barus, the Jaffars, the Kyaris and many other corrupt cases of his beloved appointees in the last two years.

“I want to say with all sense of responsibility that these actions are neither Islamic nor do they portray the virtue of a good Islamic leader. “It is abundantly clear that hypocrisy and double standards are the hallmark of this administration and the game of the day.

“It is against this backdrop therefore, that the PDP as a matter of exigencies need to rise up to the call, to salvage the country through vibrant opposition party and the needed advocacy.”

On his motivation to vie for the publicity scribe of the party, Professor Sulaiman stated: “Our party deserves a publicity secretary that exudes great personality, a person well known by the media and the general public.

One whose activity has the capacity to command media attention and win the hearts of Nigerians. A cerebral, a courageous and experienced person with good oratory skills. “Permit me to say that all these characteristics are some of God’s gifts which are inherent in me and flows through me with ease.

To this end, I humbly present myself as the candidate who possess the relevant managerial skill to become the National Publicity Secretary and to promote the image of our great party (PDP),” he said. Under his leadership, the aspirant promised to “Encourage weekly interface with different media platforms to further promote the ideals of our party.”
