Therefore, the appreciation of naira is coming from dollar hoarders and reduced requirement for dollars to import petrol by petrol marketers. These two events make surplus dollars available. These two factors have a limited influence as they are not going to add more dollars to the system for long. Therefore, the initial bullish trends in naira value will be for a short period. This will then be followed by steady rise in value of the naira which is caused by other factors like investor confidence in the economy, more FDI inflows, more diaspora remittances and exportation of excess petrol by Dangote.
