Remember that it was not God’s plan initially for his people to have any visible human king over them(Deuteronomy 17:14) because those kings would demand a lot from them to the point that it may even lead to oppression(1Samuel 8:11-18) but God allowed them anyway because it did not conflict with his purpose. God’s chosen kings on earth were from Saul to Zedekiah and then God made a very interesting statement at Ezekiel 21:26-27 regarding Zedekiah and someone else after him.
“This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah says: ‘Remove the turban, and take off the crown. This will not remain the same. Raise up the low one, and bring low the high one. A ruin, a ruin, a ruin I will make it. And it will not belong to anyone until the one who has the legal right comes, and I will give it to him”

Zedekiah was to be dethroned and someone else who has the legal right after him would sit on God’s throne and that person is none other than Jesus Christ. Daniel 7:13-14, Luke 1:31-33
Meaning that after Zedekiah is Jesus Christ only and none other so anybody today who feels God chose him to lead a particular nation in today’s world is only deceiving himself and those who would choose to believe him because his authority is actually from Satan the Devil. Luke 4:6
