Please does anyone know what happens if you don’t pick you passport on time at OIS , any idea of how much will be charged for late collection at least after a month ?

I got a mail to pick my passport just a day after I left Lagos and won’t be back till after a month , I am wondering what to do since I don’t have any trusted person to pick it up. I am also wondering the cost of late pick up according to their mail .

I would be glad if anyone can help me with viable information

Hello everyone , I greet you all , I have been following this trend 2 years when I was planning to apply my us visa which was successful and I came to the trend again earlier this year watching for updates as I know I had plans of renewal .

First of all i thank everyone for their contribution especially Mr OyotunjiUSA who always provide helpful informations for everyone ina respectful manner .

I paid for my visa renewal in March, my visa was going to expire in July 15 but I entered US on June 29th, stayed till July 7th and went to Canada then came back to US and stayed till August 30th.

While booking my appointment for renewal, I put my old ds160 number because I didn’t have time to fill a new one then , I hoped I will change it before the appointment and then they moved to a new platform and it wasn’t possible to change it anymore .

I went ahead and filled a new one and took it to the appointment and i explained to them that I have a new ds16o form different from the one on my profile and it was accepted without any issue , I have seen many people here who are worried about their new ds160, don’t worry at all, just take your new one to the appointment and make sure you mention it .

I submitted my passport on 23rd of October and I kept tracking it and by the grace of God , it was approved on the 4th of November and issued the next day , this morning I got a mail to pick up my passport at OIS but unfortunately the am not in Lagos till end of the month .

My plans has always been to make sure I renew my visa before the arrival of Trump who might reduce this 5 years visa given to us or even end Dropbox as he has done before .

I had many reasons why I thought I would have been invited for an interview, one of the reasons is that I went to Yankee with my sis and she didn’t come back again , I always felt that her decision will affect mine , I am glad it didn’t affect mine , another reason is that I always stay around 8 weeks in America but I make sure I don’t stay up to 3 months and I spread, under the space of 2 years I have entered America like 5 times , some were as short as a day because maybe I went to Mexico and was only on transit in USA or from Canada .

I thought they might also wonder why I kept coming but I didn’t commit any crime , I also didn’t mention that I had Tax ID etc …

Anyways my people I am happy and glad that my visa has been renewed for 5 years , many people told me to stay back in America but I said No , I took the risk of returning to Nigeria to renew my visa , America no be heaven but a very lovely place sha , in the past I have to Overstayed my visa in UK and even removed from UK and for many years i thought US won’t give me Visa .

I made sure I said the truth about my Past because US shares information with UK, I was granted that US visa in 2022, I don’t really wanna overstay any visa again anywhere because of freedom of movement is sweet oh .

It will be selfish of me not to share my story incase it can help anyone , I have been a silent reader for long , I don’t even remember my password sef, so this is not me showing off at all …

Well maybe I am showing off my GRATITUDE! , I have been a memeber of nairaland since 2007 and stoped being active when Facebook became popular in 2008, this platform is very helpful when shit fits the fan , the info I get here can’t be gotten from instagram or Facebook ..

Once again shout out to Mr OyotunjiUSA, I always look forward to your comments , I wonder why you choose to be very helpful to people here .

And for those going for IW renewals , all that matter is your Avitis appointment, OIS appointment don’t really matter for drop offs, they have daily lists just like VFS ! Once your appointment is on the Avitis form then your name will surely be on the list

I booked for December 12th for someone but it was an error because they are not frequent travelers so I am trying to see what I can do to change it back to first timer , the customer service said I will have to pay again and fill a new form , I think that is unfair , I have tried to fill a new form but it is saying that my application number and passport number is already on another appointment..

Please if you have a france Visit visa (2nd timer) and I enter through Germany, does this hinder my future france visas if I choose not to enter directly from France but from other Schengen countries?

Would the visa officers see anything wrong with not entering France with their visa? And wasting their visa?

It does not matter , you can choose to enter from anywhere

Are my doing something wrong? there' s no date even if its far date at least let me book and wait. meanwhile this is my 3rd france visa and I always used previous ones I got. Did previous ones with VFS this is my first time booking France through TLS. somebody help please

If you are a frequent traveler, you should be able to book, I booked yesterday for some people

Can you shed more light of the statement “the ois and aviits date must match”, please? I need help understanding if another scheduling is required after scheduling an IW Dropbox appointment on the AVITS website for any of the Lagos and Abuja locations. Thank you.

Only go to the OIS on the day of your AVITS appointment date , you can book OIS on same date but they don’t really ask for the OIS appointment but on the AVITS, they currently have a list everyday based on the people who booked appointment on AVITS website

Boss, I used all the terms, the security man categorically said they don't do walk-in, I said premium, they said they can only do premium for me on the date of my appointment if I come earlier than the time, maybe appointment is 2pm and I come 8am, I'd be allow to enter earlier on premium. I even called one of them to one side and talked to him, they all declined.

Yes you are right , I took my brother there to try the walk in thing and they declined kpata kpata, I wonder how people said it is possible before , it is not possible to do walk in without appointments in same day or maybe missed appointments…

Please someone help me . I have been trying to book Canada appointment VFS website for my brother but once it gets to point where I am to put the OTP, it always says incorrect .. I have been trying this for 3 days , it keeps saying incorrect OTP, I have tried with my laptop and my phone several times and I can’t get through .. Does anyone know the solution ??

Ok my people I got some good news 😁 it will be unfair if I don’t share because people’s good news here gave me hope too.

This is the Timeline:

I submitted my Visitor’s visa on the 7th of September 2023, I got my biometric letter for same day so I booked an appointment to go for biometric on the 15th of September, I got there and I realized that I didn’t bring my passport so I rescheduled for 26th of September and finally I successfully did my biometric which didn’t take more than 20 mins in there .

I came to this page today to see updates then I saw someone complaining about not getting their profile updated after they did their biometric one week ago, I wanted to write mine too because I never saw any update since I did mine.

I checked my mail and I saw 2 messages sitting in pretty and from other people’s testimonies here , I knew it would be biometric confirmation and passport request 😁 🕺🕺

I have a valid American visa , I only applied for this Canada visa because I heard they are issuing visitor visa anyhow and I currently have a passport expiring in 2031 so why not , from my small experience in life, nothing last forever so I tried my luck ..

I thank God sha , Canada no be easy country sha and I know some good friends there , I have lived in uk before as teenager so moving to abroad dey fear me no be small , Nigeria is not getting better anytime soon , I wish Nigeria can be better so people like me can only be visiting abroad like I have been doing for the past years

Did you book your appointment? What’s the date on your appointment, go to Vfs on the day of your appointment, be on time too… no need to be checking status if you have booked your appointment na , what is the date on your letter , that’s your date

Thank you so so much, your response saved me oh, I haven’t been here for some time , I missed my appointment on the 15th September because I forgot my passport, I was gonna request my passport to be brought to me that day they said my time has passed and that I will pay 30k and I said lie lie lol

I went home after all I am not planing to travel this year so no rush, I thought that getting a new date will be easy but it was tough, after so much phone call to them to release my ref number so I can get a new date , sometimes the website won’t be showing any available date at all but I kept trying till I found October 3rd, my biometrics letter was gonna expire on October 7th .

I woke up this morning around 2am because I had slept early then I decided to check this thread then I saw that u can reschedule for a closer date without losing my current date, I decided to check it out and I saw a date for this morning oh chai , 10 am, in few hours I will be headed to VFS! Make I go keep my passport for my car to avoid forgetting it , my other documents are in my car already , I will just have to print my new appointments letter…

Thank you so much because I never knew I could get a newer date.

For anyone looking for date, the site is funny sometimes , just keep searching and you will find , it seems it is easy to find early appointments at night , I booked a US visa appointment date for my brother and he got March 6th 2024 while the ones I booked for my cousins since May 2022 is for May 2024…

And to the person who needs help paying their visa , I can help you to pay if you are in Lagos , come to ajah Lagos , only drama free people abeg oh, I no get power at all

And to the man who claimed that he walked into VFS without appointment , that is not possible , every appointment is booked online except you missed it and maybe they will allow you pay 30k for VIP, I refused to pay 30k because I no be VIP, I rather use the money for isi Ewu, Canada no deh run ..

It is easy to book online na , I booked mine and missed it last Friday cuz I didn’t go with my passport, I finally booked another online 2 days ago and now I got a date for 3rd October 🥲

This happened after a lot of trials because the site was not showing dates most times , I kept checking till I saw dates … you don’t need anyone to do it for you , also change browsers sometimes cuz their site can be funny

I called VFS today for my rescheduling and they released my RICC number so that I can be able to schedule through the website again , I went to the website and there are no available dates at all … This is strange , have anyone been through this before ? Abeg oh, I have untill October 4th to submit my biometric if not I will pay for a new application…

If you are a hard working person , you will make it abroad , you need to be resilient and strong with good mental health , it is solely meant for independent minded people oh , there are so many cheap things people enjoy in Nigeria that they can’t enjoy in abroad … There is free money in Nigeria if you know your way but there is no free money anywhere in abroad … I have lived abroad before the Japa word was formed, when I moved to london back then my friend made me understood that it will be very tough for me so I was prepared mentally but guess what God did miracle and used a lot of strangers to help me and I didn’t suffer , it was grace of God and I hd some money too then , I was only 21 then oh , I missed Nigeria cuz I loved Lagos so much but in life you will sacrifice… There are many benefits of living abroad, many are suffering in abroad while some are making it , you just need to be smart and always updated and you will be fine ! There is no manna in abroad … it’s always good to visit first before you move there, I live in Nigeria now for the past 12 years , e no easy but I know my way around things and lemme just say na God , I think Nigeria makes us lazy, you oh one month rent you are relaxed but in abroad every month oh na rent lol … America remains the best place to move to , it gives you options, if you are tried of one state , you move to another …. Canada has never been a choice country for Nigerians , people go there because of their PR card and easy student visa …. You can never compare it to America !! Many people I know moved from uk to America but till date I am yet to see someone move from America to UK 😂😂😂

You will hardly see someone in America complaining bitterly about America , they can complain just like every other country but not like people in uk and canada who are always crying about one thing or the other online …. Many people that Japa in the last 10 years are not built for abroad life … Many lack the proper orientation to live in a foreign land.. You can’t enjoy abroad money and also have Nigerian liberty , weather etc

All that glitters are not Gold bro... you will come to terms with cons: Racism, loneliness(you can be married with children and still be lonely), slaving, police oppression... anxiety and depression. And you will never be rich if you don't have a special talent. (Standard of living is very high small pay check big taxes and bills)

Prons: Jobs, beautiful environments.. clean people (the are all hypocrite) . Security, good infrastructures

you will feel it more if you grow up in Nigeria. You will crave home honestly.

Personally I regret Japa despite the fact that I have been almost everywhere. I wish is stayed back in Nigeria. However because I wanted a good passport for my children it is still no regret. (I am living very well mind you... very good apartment for an avarage rich person will live in...children attend of one of the most expensive schools around and I live very comfortably) but I still regret leaving Nigeria.

My brother how you go enjoy all this things including good passports for children and you still regret leaving Nigeria 😂😂 if you regret leaving then you have to regret the passports too, you can’t eat your cake and have it , you would have stayed back in Nigeria and enjoy then no good passport or future for children because Nigerian passport ain’t getting better soon

Please I hope someone can give me meaningful advise too

I am going for an US appointment next week and I am getting about some things . I lost my my mother few months ago and the burial was scheduled to take place last Friday in California but we tried hard to get emergency appointment which was denied 2 times but was later approved after I paid the 3rd visa fee and also changed my location to abuja .

The interview date me and my siblings got was a date after the burial so I don’t know if the letter from the funeral home inviting us for the burial of our mother can still count . I plan to tell them that I want to go and visit my mothers grave in order to have a closure and also attend the celebration of life which is scheduled to take place in September. I don’t know if they can still issue the visa since the burial has been done . My mother was only in US for visit and lockdown happened and few months later we found she had cancer so she couldn’t travel again till she died there .

I don’t even have plans of staying back in the US, what documents do I need to show them and what kind of questions should I be expecting from them.

I wondering if I should fill a new DS160 form and update it since the dates have changed or should I stick the the old form which had July 1st as expected time to travel ?

This was not a group application but in the form they asked if there are people I am traveling with and I wrote my siblings name , I wondering if this will affect my application negatively so they don’t think we won’t come back. One of my siblings is working in a government firm and will sponsor himself while my sister just finished Waec and my friend will act as her sponsor. I don’t know if that will make sense

I reserved a hotel through a 3rd party called booking.com , I don’t know if it is fine to use reservation from such site for US visas , for my sister we got a letter from a friend in US as a where she will be staying, we don’t know if we should reserve a hotel room for her too than saying that she will stay with someone ?

Please I need possible answers and advises ��
