The super eagles of Nigeria on Wednesday defeated the falcons of Sudan 1-0 in one of the 2018 African Nations Championship semi-final matches to qualify for the final for the very first time in the country’s history. A superb finish from Akwa United’s star, Gabriel Okechukwu in the 15th minute was enough to send the home eagles through despite first choice Goal keeper and captain, Ikechukwu Ezenwa pulling out injured in the 8th minute and Ifeanyi Ifeanyi being sent off in the 59th minute. Nigeria started the stronger side and went ahead in the 16th minute as Anthony Okpotu flicked on a pass from the midfield which Okechukwu converted stylishly. The Sudanese grew into the game but were denied by the superb heroics of substitute goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye even as the Eagles wasted chances to increase the score. In the second half, Sudan continued to attack with Nigeria having a handful of opportunities. However, in the 59th minute Ifeanyi Ifeanyi was sent off for a second bookable offence. Sudan failed to take make use of the numerical advantage. But the North Africans were reduced to 10 men in the 86th minute when Bakri Bachir was sent off for a foul on goal-bound Dayo Ojo. In the same light, President Mohammed Buhari has sent his message of congratulations to the super Eagles for reaching the finals of the African Nations Championship. The design for the next flagship is not expected to deviate significantly from that of iPhone X, but this one is expected to get upgrades with better battery, faster charging, the iOS12 and definitely the super-speed A12 processor. The Headies, formerly known as the Hip Hop World awards, is arguably the most anticipated music industry award in Nigeria. Interestingly, in a move that fans the flames of anticipation amongst industry watchers and fans, the organizers of the annual award have announced that the 2017 edition of the awards would not be held until March of 2018. According to reliable source from Hip TV, this year’s awards promise to be great as they are do everything to make it a fantastic show. This year’s edition is the 12th Edition and its titled “Create A Rare Experience” (CARE) Since the award was established in 2006, the list of nominees has always been a subject for hot debate amongst fans of the Nigerian music industry. Year-in-year-out, controversy has trailed the winners of the major categories of the awards, further defining its reputation and making it one of the most controversial music awards in Nigeria. The last two editions of the Headies have been quite dramatic, and much of the controversy has centered around one award category in particular – “the Next Rated”. This award category recognizes the most talented “upcoming” artiste with outstanding musical work over the period in consideration. The winner of this award category is presented a brand new SUV as well as a 21 Carat gold-plated plaque recognizing their exploits. Headies 2017, what to expect come March. Over the years, the Headies has cultivated a reputation for dynamic innovation, and it comes as no surprise to entertainment industry enthusiasts when the organizers of the awards announced a few changes are being made to the way it is being conducted. Considering the announcement that four new categories have been added to the already existing 21, the 2017 awards promises to be all-inclusive of all major stakeholders in the entertainment industry. By creating the “Headies viewer’s choice” category, the organizers seek better engagement of the fans, as the major cause of the controversy that has trailed the awards has emanated from the fact that the popular choice artistes have not always won the awards. The Headies viewer’s choice will no doubt address this perceived bias, by leaving a whole category to the whims of the viewers and fans. Another new category is “the Industry brand supporter”, which seeks to applaud corporate bodies and brands that have sponsored and supported the growth of the Nigerian entertainment industry. This is laudable, as it is bound to lure more corporate investment to as well as improve corporate brand involvement in the entertainment industry. The “Best performer award” has been created to encourage originality and showmanship, as well as improve stage performances by the “entertainers” in the Nigerian music industry. Artistes will no doubt up their game and give their followers value for their money when they attend their concerts and shows. This is a very good one for the industry. In my opinion, the most important award added to the 2017 Headies is the “Best Songwriter” category. This award will drive creativity amongst the talents who work behind the scene; composing and writing the lyrics for the songs we have come to love and appreciate. This show of appreciation and acknowledgement for the songwriters in the Nigerian entertainment industry is long overdue, and this welcome development bodes well for the quality of the lyrical content of the songs being released in the near future. The list of nominees is yet to be released and no doubt it is being earnestly anticipated by music fans all over Africa. A more fascinating reason to anticipate is the increase to the length of the period for which works would be considered for this edition. The organizers have revealed that https://naijmobile.com/headies-2017-expectations/

YEAR 2017 REVIEW: TOP 20 TRENDS THAT SET INTERNET ON FIRE YEAR 2017 REVIEW: The year 2017 is arguably one of the most eventful years so far. Interestingly, social media in Nigeria has witnessed the most activities, with Twitter Nigeria serving as a potent tool for creating social awareness and rallying people towards a common cause. From celebrity beefs to celebrity weddings that made the rave in 2017, join us as we examine the top 20 trends that shaped our 2017. #FuelScarcity Nigerians have come to expect long queues at fuel pumps and price hikes during the festive seasons. It is often said that Christmas in Nigeria is incomplete without fuel scarcity, but the unprecedented fuel scarcity experienced by Nigerians in 2017 has made them turn to social media to vent their frustration at the government’s seeming ineptitude and apparent inability to solve the perennial fuel scarcity that has caused them untold hardship. The trend which is ongoing has seen individuals sharing their #FuelScarcity experience. Trust Nigerians to always find humor in every situation. #BAAD2017 Banky Wellington must have broken so many ladies’ hearts when he announced his engagement to Adesuwa Etomi. The wedding which was a “National Affair” was one of the greatest trends in Nigeria 2017. From fake wedding invitations being sold for N25, 000 to the leaked honeymoon photos of Adesuwa’s nude bedroom pictures, the celebrity wedding tagged #BAAD2017 dominated social media in Nigeria like no other. #EbukaAgbada Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the phenomenal event host and TV personality, threw social media to frenzy when he appeared at #BAAD2017 in his kimono-style agbada. He got tongues wagging with his impeccable style and his outfit to that event set one of biggest fashion trends on the year 2017. Ebuka’s outfit was in sharp contrast to music producer Masterkraft’s rather simple unspectacular outfit. #EndSARS SARS, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force got so much unwanted attention in 2017 for alleged harassment and extra-judicial killings. Frustrated Nigerians took to social media to vent their anger at the activities of this arm of the NPF and this resulted in one of the biggest trends of 2017. Celebrities and average Nigerians posted pictures and stories of their unpleasant encounters with SARS and called for the disbandment of the squad. The Inspector General of the NPF responded by directing a total overhaul of the unit. Nigerians are hopeful that these gun-toting officers would eventually focus on protecting them rather than harassing them when they are eventually reinstated. #MenAreScum #MenAreScum became one of the most popular trends on social media in Nigeria in 2017. Ladies frustrated with guys shared their bitter experiences and tried to out-do one another just to validate their belief that men are eternally damned to be the scum of the earth. One would marvel at the number of ladies who seemed to bear grievances against Nigerian men, especially the so-called “Yoruba Demons”. Even when the ladies were obviously the architect of their own heartbreaks, they still took to social media to proclaim #MenAreScum. #MansNotHot British comedian Big Shaq made his debut on the music scene and took the world by a storm with his hit single “Man’s not hot”. Comical rendition/freestyle set a massive trend in pop culture that ruled 2017. The song centered on Big Shaq’s love for his jackets and his response to a lady’s advice to take them off. He had listeners chanting along: The ting goes skrrrahh! Pap, pap, ka-ka-ka! Skidiki-pap-pap! And a pu-pu-drrrr-boom! Skya! Du-du-ku-tu-ku-pun-pun! Poom, poom You dun know I tell her man’s not hot I tell her man's not hot The girl told me "take off your jacket" I said "babes, man's not hot" https://naijmobile.com/year-2017-review-top-20-trends/

TECNO’S FIRST FULL–VIEW SMARTPHONE - If the rumors of a new full-view device making the rounds are anything to go by, then we might see the launch of TECNO’s first device with a full view display. While the brand has already introduced several innovative products last year, it is expected that the coming device will set the pace for subsequent product designs in 2018. Asides from debuting a bezel-less screen and offering users more screen space to better appreciate their multimedia content, the new TECNO device is believed to revolutionize photography on a smartphone and leave people wondering how such a simple handheld device can capture spectacular images like a professional DSLR camera. Although, much hasn’t been leaked about the phone’s exact specifications however, one would expect that its camera shouldn’t be anything less than a 13MP – considering that the average camera rating of their devices released over the last 24-months has been 13MP. Unsurprisingly, other features of the camera, the hardware specs, design and the fluidity has been tipped to impress. https://naijmobile.com/tecnos-first-full-view-smartphone-may-launch-january/

How to get noticed on Social Media – Social media isn’t just for sharing photos of your breakfast and arguing over Star Wars movies. If you’re starting a new business or launching a side project, these networks can also spread the word about your work. But how do you stand out in the sea of information? Social platforms offer a variety of tools and tricks to help you. In this guide, we’ll cover the best of these attention-grabbing techniques, focusing on DIY methods you can employ without spending any money or hiring a team of promoters. Embrace the hashtags Hashtags do more than add an ironic underscore to your tweets or Instagram posts. They can also connect you with a wider audience, including customers and contacts in your chosen market. Even if people don’t follow you, they do search for relevant hashtags (something Instagram just added), which means they’ll see what you post when you include key words. Both Instagram and Twitter make it very easy to search via hashtag. On their websites, you can find the search boxes at the top of the screen, and in the mobile apps, you can search by navigating to the separate tab. There are no hard and fast rules about how to use hashtags—it really depends on what you’re selling and what your business is. Still, you can pick up some ideas by looking at other accounts in your field and seeing what words they choose. One rule you should follow is to avoid hashtag overload. A post filled entirely with hashtags looks spammy, and people won’t click on it. While you decide which tags to include, remember that you need to strike a balance: Use hashtags that are too popular, your posts will get lost in the flood; use hashtags that are too obscure, and nobody will think to search for them. You may need a bit of trial and error to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Give and take Want to increase the number of people who interact with your own posts? First, you’ll have to engage with others’. That means you can’t just relentlessly promote your own stuff—you should share posts uploaded by other people, along with your own responses and feedback. This advice applies to any social media platform. Other users, whether potential customers or competitors, are far more likely to notice you if you contribute something to the network beyond pushing your own goods and services. Think about congratulating a fellow small business on a job well done, or promoting a charity drive that someone else in your field has launched. More specifically, on Twitter, many people post requests for help. You can directly reply to these, as long as you don’t come across as too pushy. For example, if you fix laptop screens, search for people in your area who are looking for a laptop screen repair. Then offer your help in a public tweet. To perform this type of search, visit the Twitter website and type your search terms into the box at the top right of the screen. Next, look for the Search filters sidebar and hit the Show link that you see next to it. A drop-down menu, which includes a location option, will appear. Then select Near you to filter for those who live in your region. Buffer your posts Many applications offer to improve your social media presence so you can promote yourself better. One of our favorites is the free service Buffer. Quite simply, it buffers posts on Facebook and Twitter, allowing you to line up multiple posts at once and then work on non-social obligations without worrying about posting throughout the day. The program can either roll out your posts gradually over the course of a day, or schedule them to go live at specific times. Buffer essentially frees you from sitting at your computer or phone around the clock. It also helps target customers who don’t live in the same time zone as you do. On top of that, it includes tools for analyzing how well your posts are doing and sharing the same message on multiple social media accounts at once. The service offers free and paid plans through its website, as an Android app, and as an iOS app. For free, you can buffer one account per social network and schedule up to 10 posts at once. After that, prices start at $10 a month. Give people reasons to follow you In order to accrue followers, you need to show them interesting or valuable content. Share special offers, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and entertaining facts to give clients, and other businesses, good reasons to follow you. Make sure to post regularly, and vary the type of content you share. For example, let’s say you’re promoting your work building furniture out of reclaimed wood. Perhaps your social media account could give discounts or freebies to people who share your posts. In addition to offers, you can share guides to treating or caring for wood, show a step-by-step video of one of your builds, or both. Of course, you’ll have to tailor these types of content to whatever business or project you’re involved with. People are also more likely to follow an account with which they feel they have a relationship. To foster that type of interaction, make sure to respond promptly when people get in touch with you or give you their feedback. For that reason, it’s helpful to install social apps on your phone—this lets you reply immediately when you have an interaction. If you know you won’t be able to respond during certain hours, then explain this clearly in your profile. Read also; How to Apply for Heartland Alliance International Nigeria Recruitment 2018 Know your networks To make yourself better at social self-promotion, spend time studying Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and any other platforms you plan to use. Which posts engage and interest you, and which ones leave you cold? How do certain accounts stand out from the crowd? This type of critical browsing will help you figure out what works and what doesn’t. No matter what network you’re using, eye-catching images will always draw more attention than plain text. Spend some time to put these visuals together, especially on Instagram, which was founded on the idea of improving mobile photos. In addition, if someone else is sharing a grabby story, try reposting it. You don’t want to fill your feed entirely with others’ work, but as long as you leave a gap of a few hours (on the fast-moving Twitter) or a few days (on the slower-paced Facebook) between reposts, you should be fine. If you do link to the same piece of work twice, try varying the description or the headline the second time around—you may catch a separate batch of clicks. When it comes to social media platforms, you get out what you put in. Ultimately, nothing pays off like putting in the time and the hard work to create thought-out, genuine, and useful posts for your followers. Even when you’re starting small, don’t be discouraged by slow growth. If you persevere, those sweet clicks will follow. https://naijmobile.com/promotion-101-get-noticed-social-media/
