The Next El Clasico in USA - The 2018/19 La Liga season starts today and fans worldwide are ready but there are reasons to believe that the greatest rivalry in soccer history (El Clasico) may be moved out of Spain.
This is because La Liga bosses sign an agreement with the US Company Relevant, which would see Spanish clubs playing some league matches in the USA this season

La Liga have announced the signing of a 15-year deal with International Champions Cup organisers Relevent which could include official league games being played in the USA and Canada.

The agreement will come in force already this season. For the marketing purposes, the clashes played abroad will involve the most popular teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico.

La Liga president Javier Tebas has explained the deal: "If the NBA or the NFL play games outside their cities and countries, why La Liga sides can't? It is important to develop our brand. It is among our short- and medium-term objectives to bring some La Liga clashes to the United States."

On the possible logistic difficulties, this decision could bring Tebas added: "The games would never be organized against the interests of the participants. We would see which teams will agree to this initiative and what compensations and communication strategies would be carried out. We have changed many things in the last four years, some received negative feedback. But in order to grow as an industry, we have to make these decisions."

Champions League 2019 Changes – Arguably FIFA’s most influential and popular body, UEFA has confirmed changes that will take place in next season’s Champions League, Europa League and UEFA Super Cup competitions.

UEFA made this know on Tuesday, noting that the changes which include a fourth substitute in extra-time and new scheduling arrangements, were recommended by the Executive Committee in Bratislava in February.

The first major change will see a fourth substitute allowed in extra-time for knock-out ties.
Also, in cup finals of all three competitions (UEFA Champions League, Europa League and UEFA Super Cup), coaches will be allowed a squad of 23 players, rather than 18 as is the case for other games, meaning that coaches will have as many as 12 substitutes to choose from in their biggest game of the season.

As regards kick-off time, all knock-out ties will be played at 21:00 CET, slightly later than the current 20:45, but during the group stages two games from each match day will take place at 18:55.

For the last game of each group stage, all games will be played at the same time.

In the Europa League, games will be split between 18:55 and 21:00 kick-offs until the quarter-finals, when all games will be played at 21:00.

The European Super Cup will kick-off at 21:00, starting off on August 15 when it is held at Lillekula Stadium in Tallinn, Estonia.

Furthermore, after the group stages of both the Champions League and Europa League, clubs will be able to register three new players without any restrictions.

“This measure is in line with the regulatory situation which exists in different national leagues and does not put any restrictions on eligibility for competitions of players registered for a new club during the winter transfer market,” said UEFA.

Following the recent crash and the killing of a pedestrian by the Uber self-driving test car, Japanese automaker Toyota has on Thursday said it was suspending tests of its self-driving cars so staff could “emotionally process” the tragedy after the accident.
The number one Ride-sharing giant Uber, has also already suspended use of all test self-driving cars after one of its vehicles struck and killed a pedestrian Sunday in the US state of Arizona where it was being tested.
In a statement issued by Toyota (via the US company that conducts its auto) “We cannot speculate on the cause of the incident or what it may mean to the automated driving industry going forward.”
“TRI is pausing Chauffeur mode testing to let its drivers emotionally process this tragedy. We’re monitoring the situation and plan to resume testing at an appropriate time, this pause is meant to give them time to settle their feelings and come to a sense of balance.” the statement further said.
Toyota said it would continue its tests of semi-autonomous cars, but only in closed circuits.
But all testing of autonomous cars on public roads, which was previously being conducted in Japan and the US states of California and Michigan, is currently on hold.
Toyota, like Uber, has safety drivers behind the wheel of its autonomous cars during testing, though the drivers are not typically expected to operate the vehicles.
The Uber accident was the first fatal self-driving car crash involving a pedestrian and has raised fresh concern about the safety of autonomous vehicles.
German automaker BMW said Wednesday expressed sympathies over the incident but said it would not affect its self-driving car project, while Nissan has made no comment.

The Lagos State Land Use Charge (LUC) is a consolidation of all property and land based rates and charges payable under Lands Rates, Neighborhood Improvement Charge and Tenement Rates Laws of Lagos State. The Land Use Charge derives its legitimacy from the Land Use Charge Law No. 11, of 2001. It was designed to help the government generate additional revenue needed to develop the state in the light of increasing demand for provision of urban and rural infrastructure and other expenditure.
However, the implementation and enforcement of the land use charge have continued to raise dust. The modus operandi of the law has generated controversies over the years and some residents of Lagos are still confused as to what the land use charge is really about. The LUC law does not apply to all properties in the State. Properties that are exempted from the operation of the law are government-owned properties, and other properties used for public, religious and charitable activities. However, this exemption will only be granted where an application for exemption is made to the State Commissioner for Finance.

After several cries and calls by Nigerians, the Nigerian Army is set to begin exercise “Cat Race” in Benue state, Taraba state and 4 other troubled states across the country.
Army Chief of Training and Operations, Major General David Ahmadu, announced this on Wednesday while briefing reporters at the Army Headquarters Conference Room in Abuja. He said it would begin a major deployment of troops to the troubled states of Benue, Taraba, Nassarawa, Kaduna, Kogi and Niger to restore peace and orderliness.
The exercise which is tagged: Ayem Akpatuma (Tiv Language) meaning “Cat Race” is to tackle the crises between herdsmen and farmers as well as cases of kidnapping in Benue and other states.
The Army chief further said the exercise which runs from February 15 to March 31 would be targeted at killer herdsmen, cattle rustlers, armed bandits, kidnappers, armed militias and other criminal elements in the six states.
The exercise is expected to cover the 1 and 3 Divisions, representing the North West and North Central geopolitical zones of the country, while the Guards Brigade, 707 Special Forces Brigade, and the Headquarters Army Command would also be involved in the exercise.
Major- Gen. David Ahmadu who spoke on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai said other security agencies that would be participating in the exercise are the Department of State Security (DSS) the Nigerian Police Force, the Nigerian Immigration Service, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and other security organisations in the country.
He noted that Emphasis will be placed on raids, cordon and search operations, anti-kidnapping drills, road blocks, check points and show of force, as well as humanitarian activities such as medical outreach.

Major Gen. Ahmadu also enjoined residents of the affected states to avoid panic as the security, safety and well-being of innocent and law abiding citizens have been deliberately factored in the planning of this exercise.

He advised the general public to remain vigilant and be security conscious, as suspected criminals may be fleeing from military operations in these areas and finding safe haven amidst our communities.
He added that "The public is also reminded to report any suspicious activity or movement to the nearest military formation or other security agencies for prompt action.
"In order to ensure cordial civil-military relations, we shall make contact phone numbers of all Brigade Commanders public in addition to the Nigerian Army short code Information and Call Centre 193."
It will be recalled that several attacks in the affected states have led to several appeals by Nigerians for a repeat of Operation Python dance but this time in the concerned states.
