NOTE FOR EVERYONE: Please be checking the "view submitted application or upload documents" in the GC key portal. We did not get any message notification of any document request but saw a request to resubmit the passport datapage. we submitted it immediately.

So each time you log into your GC Key profile, always check that.

I just want to confirm if you didn't pay for the biometrics initially while paying and submitting the pr application.

Yes, I did not pay initially when submitting the SS application (only included the Proof of Biometrics Validity document). It is good you paid, IRCC wouldn't ask again. Biometrics should be updated to complete once that stage is done.

The last update was on Jan 26 - it has left the IRCC Accra Office.

Eligibility and Background check completed on Dec 28
Final Decision Dec 29
The passport was submitted at VFS Abuja on Jan 2.
Counterfoil update in GC key portal Jan 19.

For a change of name (marital status), you have to change it first with NIN. The names on the passport (immigration) must always match NIN data. Go to any NIMC office with necessary documents - copies (Marriage certificate, Affidavit, and Newspaper Publication+Written letter) requesting the change based on Marital status.
After the change has been submitted, it is another hurdle for NIMC to update it in their database before heading to NIS for a new passport (change of name).

My wife did not require a consent letter (the instruction from NIS contact was to go to NIMC to change it first, then to NIS).

PS: With the new passport process, things might have changed with NIS, so my info might not be accurate.

lol. we can't really compare India and Nigeria in this situation sha. India has a better international reputation and is involved in International Trade with most countries globally (diplomatic relationships will be affected). On the other hand, Nigeria has little to no International impact. As such, IRCC cannot treat applications from both countries as the same even if both do the same shady stuff.

That's the reality of the world politics.

There have been more fraud cases of spousal sponsorship applications from our region - which leads to more scrutiny.

Another factor is the delay in confirming/verifying the information submitted.

Good day, I am a new Canadian PR. I want to go for the spousal sponsorship but i heard i need to have spent a year minimum as PR before i can initiate spousal sponsorship at all. I would love to confirm this.

The one year minimum refers to getting tax filing document to use for the application (Notice of Assessment or Tax Income statement). You don't need to wait to file tax as you can use proof of income (bank statement) if you have lots of funds available (best to be combined with a job).

If you are new couple (meaning your spouse was not included in your initial PR application), I will advise you to wait till after you filed your tax next year or go ahead with showing other proof that you can take care of yourself and spouse (to be sponsored = bank statement+job and payslips).

For me, I waited till after I filed tax as I was newly married (the time space also allowed me to travel back home to see my spouse=relationship evidence (boarding pass, passport stamps).

Key point: look at your options and go with the one that provide more documents/proof for your SS application.

how can my sis upload a letter explain lump sum deposit from her my other savings account to the account she Submit, both account are on her name and show her monthly salary from her company account.. But she transfer 2.6M from her other savings account two months ago and we didn't explain it because is from her other savings account and it clearly show her name...

My advice is to send a webform requesting for the letter of explanation to be added to your file as it will provide clarity to the processing officer on your financial situation. As far as a decision is not yet made on the application, I will suggest you send it ASAP.

Husband and Wife applied and Husband was the primary applicant.

Wife bank statement of six months 14m naira closing balance and total logdement of 24m naira was used with no lump sum.

Number of days proposed to spent in Canada - 15days

Husband is a senior banker.
Wife has duly registered tailoring firm which the account was used.

Please, where can issues be from...

First advice: apply for a GCM note to better understand the specific reason.

Recommendation for finance: in your next application, show proof of fund (bank statements - you and your husband), source of fund (pay slips, self employed - evidence of business transactions, if you use different account for salary, business and savings, include both bank statements - it shows evidence of what you earn/profit, where it is deposited and how it moves (savings and spending), letter of explanation - if there is any lump sum in the bank statements (as low as 300-500k: explain it).

Processing officer do not look at only the available money in your account. You have to show proof that it is available to you and the source of it. If the source cannot be verified, they deem it as inflated for visa purposes.

If you wish to arrive in British Columbia (BC), your port of entry is Vancouver (YVR), and then you can go via domestic routes (Busline & Car ferry, or by flight).
Going by Car Ferry is the cheaper route if you plan to save cost.
Nanaimo is on Vancouver Island and you land at YVR - Richmond, Vancouver.

You can book your 7 days, and let your conference date be within it (can always tell the border officer that you intend to visit around the city for a few days as it is your first time visiting the city.

Can someone with more detailed information kindly provide some clarity on how to submit a TRV while having a pending Spousal Sponsorship Application under the alleged "Special Instruction/Policy" . I am in the same situation as I applied for a TRV for my wife while she has a pending SS application. I just used the normal TRV portal with the impression that IRCC system will automatically detect if you have dual intent. Its almost 2 months since I submitted the TRV application, I applied for the GCMS notes of the TRV application last week, came back yesterday and nothing has literally been done on the application as at yesterday, except passing the criminality check, info sharing and biometrics have also been completed since 25th Sept but no decision yet or any notes to give a clue of what's happening with the application.
Anyone with accurate information or who have done this before should please assist.

In the same process, There is no special way of applying for spousal TRV - normal TRV application. IRCC confirmed to me that I need to indicate that my spouse has an open PR application (SS) and include the AOR when submitting the TRV application. There was no clear explanation why some are processed within 30 days and others take longer. I never got a clear reason from them and always got referred to the general reason link for delays (security and background check).

With your confirmation of what is stated in the GCMS note, I cannot fathom the reason for the delays. Although, I know IRCC processing normally slows down toward the end of the year, but it still doesn't make sense.

You will do a virtual landing instead if already in Canada. The passport request letter will include info for both submitting a passport (those outside Canada) and if you are already in Canada (virtual landing).

It is not compulsory (optional). People do it to validate the documents mentioned in the invitation letter. For example, if the inviter includes an identity card (PR for instance), bank statements, NOA, etc.

It is optional (except it was indicated on the documents requested in the portal before submitting it (specific to applications from certain countries)).

You can get a Canadian truck license while on visit visa I repeat don't let anyone discourage you. First before you travel to Canada get your Nigeria G license and driving history from frsc. When you get to Canada you will enroll for a g1 license when you get that you will skip the G2 because you already have your G license from Nigeria, then you enroll for the G license in Canada. With your Canadian G license you will be able to enroll in a trucking school over there. And believe me an LMIA job is always waiting for a truck driver over there. Remember you need money to do all this so travel down with atlease 8k cad. Like I say don't listen to anybody that want to discourage you in achieving your dreams. Please stop misguiding people. I will state it clearly you cannot get a driving license in Canada without legal resident status (Study permit holders, work permit holders and permanent residents are legal residents in Canada). A visitor can use their Home country driving license for a few months (it depends on the Province - some allow for 2 - 3 months). To be able to get a province driving license, you need to have a legal resident status. Another way is to get an International Driver's License to be able to drive longer. If you are planning to drive a truck, you cannot do it without getting a province license. Canada does not have a federal license, each province issues a license.

I applied for a Canada visit visa for me, wife and son since August 2022. Wife and son have gotten their visa since May 2023. Mine is still under background check, I have sent countless webforms with no reply.

* We applied from the UK
* I once had a Canadian student permit refused in 2019
* we all have a US visa

I won't advise you to withdraw the application as resubmitting puts your application afresh into the processing log.

Send a webform again - Politely ask about the status of your application and include a statement about If any additional document or clarification to support the visa officer completing the processing of the application is required, you will provide it promptly.
(IRCC is like a grizzly bear, don't poke it too much or your file will be reviewed in some sort of biased way - speaking from experience).

In addition, if you had the US visa after applying in August 2022, add it to the webform: include a scanned page of the visa and any stamped pages that show you traveled there and left before the end of the authorized stay period.

We are all in the same boat waiting, IRCC teaches us the definition of patience.

Okay, since you have raised webforms and nothing is said, try this: Ensure you spell your names and place of birth exactly as it is on your passport when inputting the details to link it. Hopefully, that should resolve it.

Once your application has been submitted, It takes a few days before you can link it. Give a window of 72 hours, then try it again. Let us know if it has exceeded 72 hours.

Has anyone received a request for medicals recently for SS?

Submitted SS application in June and got AOR and approval for eligibility to sponsor in August. Afterwards, biometric fee was requested even though my spouse already had it valid. After payment, biometrics was updated mid-Sept without any re-capture. We have been waiting but nothing till now.

Also, has anyone got their spouse applicant TRV approved within 30 days? ours is over 30 days and I am getting worried

The processing time of 30 days seems to vary for Nigerians. I have seen others say it can take up to 45 days.
