The last time we had a striker that was constantly scoring 20+ per season was Ruud Van and somebody claimed we have always had strikers that were scoring 20+ goals per season. Even when we had a much better team we never had a constant 20+ striker in the EPL.

I want Lukaku to score more goals but I'm not going to lie to myself that we have always had it good with strikers or that the team is being creative enough to merit a 20+ goals striker.

Assists don't count as such, otherwise Silva and Fabregas would have by now won EPL player of the year. Di Maria wins highest Assists twice in Laliga and also won in League 1. He set new records in both country, but never get recognition.

When we talk about goals, keep Assists aside first. A goal is always greater than Assist. I know how goals Pele, Yekini, Maradona, Platini, etc scored. I have never seen how many Assists they gave.

Rooney didn't play as a striker. In 2009/2010 he was playing as a second striker to Berbatov. In 2011/2012 he played in the hole behind Chicharito and Welcbeck. Before then he was mostly used on the left wing with Ronaldo on the right and Tevez in the middle. He also had played behind Saha, Smith and Nilstelrooy.

Park was not just all hustle, he could pass, dribble and score occasionally, he was perfect almost every time, his role was even limited at United compared to his PSV days where he played mostly from the wings/AM position (case in point, watch PSV vs Milan, UCL semis or quarters in 2007)...Park was a very intelligent player, hard worker, yes but technically good.
I am of the opinion that he should be loaned out if Pogba must blossom cos he plays too much and ends up distracting others, all those childish handshakes and stuffs are not for serious footballers...

This was said about Lingard at the end of last season

Lingard featured 42 times for United this season and was a favorite of Jose Mourinho. He scored 5 goals and added 3 assists on the season. In order to become the man for United, he must be a double-digit goal scorer. He will need to work on this in the off-season and if he is able to combine a great goalscoring ability with his work ethic, then he will become a force for United.

Martial scored a total of 8 goals in all competitions last season. Make of this what you want
