Understanding the basic applications involved in achieving good makeup, is not as difficult as we make it seem. I always advice, if you don’t know how to do it, just ask. It really is simple to have your makeup done neatly and effortlessly if you knew the little tweaks and tricks involved in the trade.
Now, the first step to achieving that overall makeup that looks so professional is your eyebrows. Every makeup artist would tell you, that’s the starting point. Your eyebrows add essential balance to your face, bringing together all your features into a harmonious whole.

Its funny how well groomed eyebrows just make your eyes pop even without a touch of makeup

I always advice, if you can't do this on your own, seek professional help. Usually, its best to have a professional get them done for you the very first time. Believe me, it’s always worth it.

Tweezing is best done when the skin is supple, so wait until after you’ve taken a shower, when your skin is soft.
Tweeze in a natural light and/or with a magnifying mirror so you can see every hair.

- Try to avoid tweezing on the day you have an important outing. Do it the night before, since it can sometimes cause redness or irritation.

Determine the shape:
- Brows should naturally follow the shape of the brow bone. Do not fight brows’ natural shape or direction of hair growth. Your mission is to enhance what nature has already done for you. My pro tip? Use a white pencil to outline the areas you want to pluck. The white line will help you see the shape that you intend to keep just before you go ahead tweezing.

- To find the right length, hold a pencil diagonally from the nostril, past the outside corner of the eye to your temple. The end of the brow should fall where the pencil is.

Time to tweeze:
- Brush eyebrows upward.

- With the tweezers (slanted ones are the best), pull one hair at a time with a quick motion in the direction of the hair growth. Tweeze two or three rows of hair. Repeat on each eyebrow.

- Never tweeze hairs at the end of the eyebrow. The longer your brows are, the better!

- Continuously check to see that your work is symmetrical. Tweeze a few hairs from one brow, stop, then tweeze a few from the other so that both eyes are even. And always stop to check that you haven’t tweezed too much.
With the results. If your brows are naturally light or thin, use a brow pencil to fill them in.
Do not draw lines with the pencil, instead, lightly shade in the areas with little or no brow hairs.

Avoid using black pencils. That is so wrong. Dark to Medium browns are best for our skin tones. If brows are unruly, even after plucking, you can use brow gel to set them. And remember, never shave your brows! Plucking may be slightly uncomfortable at first, but if you take the time to do it right, you will be pleased

Brow bleaching
Most times, this is done to complement a client’s hair colour. You would look totally unnatural if you are a blonde with dark brown eyebrows. Eyebrows are meant to complement your hair colour and pop your eyes more. That is why it is totally unrealistic for a black woman, with black hair having her eyebrows shaded in with a black coloured pencil.

Lightening the brows is a great way to bring more attention to the eyes. Begin with a simple bleaching cream, which can be used to lighten facial hair as well. Mix the cream according to package instructions and leave it on the brow for a minute or two checking to make sure you are achieving the desired colour. It is advised not to do this on your own, seek help from a professional. Remember, brows complement the hair colour. Don’t do this if you have black hair. You wouldn’t want people to think ‘oouch’ when they look at you.

to steam the face, the most popular way to do it is spreading a towel over you and deeping your head over a bowl of hot water and let the steam on your face.
but hey. think of it this way,
- vegetables, garlic, honey, lemon grass, orange juice, lemon, all inside the bowl of hot water,. you get a totally different steam which is refreshing and totally good for skin. But steaming the face isnt to be done too often. i do it once in two weeks.
Now for spots,
Please get a bottle of rose water. i use Boots glycerin and rosewater.

It does work. using rose water allover your face once a day would help brighten the skin and with continous use, it fades dark spots.
Be good to your self, dont use too many products at a time., And guess what? just recently i decided to stop using cleansers and toners or anything alcoholic that i have to rub over my face with a cotton wool, and you would not believe, i have not had those ugly breakouts on my face. It was just a thought that i was moving the problems from one place to the other with a cotton wool on my face. so i stopped. and i think my skin is better now that all i do is
wash,rosewater,clearasil rapid action cream, and drink lots of water!

What can be done to stop a face from being rough? I cleanse and moisturise but when the elements of sun and dust beats my face, it becomes rashy/rough.

Hi, have you tried following a skin care regime.
Steam the face twice a week.
Use a scrub( preferrably neutrogena)
Don't use soaps, use a facial wash.
Use a good moisturiser. I like Jergens. Its a good bet.
Whenever the rashes come up, use Mycoten cream.

i really can't say about your foundation or powder cause there are different shades of fair.
but for mascara, use black opal. not strictly though, its just a very good pick for me,
lip gloss, absolute, mary kay and black opal are great finds
For eyeshadows, you could play with different products. mary kay, black radiance, mac, black opal, davies, e.l.f, are all great finds for me.
Ensure to pick right and stay true to your skin tones when picking foundations. Black opal is a little too oily so i go for mary kay foundations and powders. for fair skin, the mary kay range goes from 600-500 for the african type of fair. ensure to test it on your chin around the sides of your face, thats where your skin tone is most true.

I have come across lots of clients that have your kind of problem. Iwas there not too long ago. My first rule for this is, stay away from too many products at a time.It would only make things worse. According to dermatologist, it takes the human skin at least 6wks to conform to the end results of any products you use. Yeah quite a long time ahn? But its worth iit if you stick to the plan. I had the same problem with mary kay. they are my favs for makeup but hey! i can't say the same for skin care. Have you tried the following home made relieving ideas?

Home made remedies prove to be the most efficient in fighting acne, especially because they show no side effects for our body and skin.

For example, you can make a paste from mixing together cinnamon powder and honey. Apply it on the spots at night, before going to sleep and remove it with warm water the next morning. After no more than 2 weeks your skin will be healthy and fresh looking again.

Also, we can use cinnamon powder blended with a teaspoon of lemon juice for the disorders on our complexion. Another method is to massage the face with the skin of a lemon before washing with warm water.183639409

1.If you regularly apply fresh garlic on the spots and rub the swollen area, the problems will vanish without leaving behind any marks.

2. Fresh mint juice and raw papaya juice (including the skin and seeds of the fruit) make wonders when it comes to spots, insect stings, eczema, scabies or other skin infections. You can also use cucumber leaves on the affected area of the skin.

Mix it with rose water and then apply the paste obtained on your skin, paying special attention to the infected areas. After about 15 minutes, when the paste is dry, remove it with cold water. This helps getting rid of the annoying blackheads and whiteheads. Against blackheads, a paste of ground radish seeds and water will do the trick

6.If you wash your face every morning with warm salty water, this well help keep acne away by getting rid of the oiliness of your skin.

7. Apply tea tree oil to your face by simply using a cotton ball and dab it onto your face. This might have a stinging affect on your skin, but that is a sign that it is working.

8. You can also try using honey on your acne. This is said to help because honey kills bacteria. By killing bacteria, it will also help prevent more acne from appearing.

9. Apply Tomato pulp onto your acne, leave it there for about an hour, and then wash off.

10. Use papaya juice on your acne and this will help with the swelling and redness of the acne.

First cleanse the skin

Eyeshadows stay longer when its sitting on foundation. If you don't have eyesickles (some form of foundation for eye area) then your foundation should work in this area. When thats done, eyeshadows come in.
Eyeshadows are better applied with the right brushes. There are different shapes and sizes for different areas of the eyes.

If you can't work with liquid eyeliners, don't. Stick to eyeliners and eye definer pencils for the lid areas just above your lashes.
Then mascara!

You wear contacts? Your makeup should be done after you must have worn them.

Now your lips. From lip liners, masks, balm, lipsticks, lip gloss,  So many products come into play here. Watch the colours though and be very very careful how you coordinate. You don't want to cconflict the colours of your shadows and outfit.
Stay warm on lip colurs if you have dramatic eye makeup done.
