A close friend of mine invited me to a birthday party he threw for his girlfriend a couple of days ago. I initially declined the invitation but reluctantly agreed when the girl called me personally and pleaded with me to show up.

When it was time to get ready for the party, a peep into my wardrobe reminded me that I had no outing cloths. I hadn't gotten a new cloth for over 4 years. My sapa induced introverted nature somehow masked my need for new stuffs because I hardly go out. A sad reality hit me hard in the face... My two jeans and three tee shirts were badly worn out, no shoes either.

I shaa dressed up and left for the party. I immediately regretted my decision of honouring that invitation immediately I stepped into the venue. I looked so out of place... Guys were all dressed up in nice cloths and latest gadgets, I normally don't let those kinda stuffs bother me but I felt terrible that night.

I sat at a corner observing things till my friend's girlfriend came and yanked me off my seat to take pictures with some of her friends. A friend of hers used an iPhone with three cameras at the back to take the pictures, didn't know the model since both 12 and 13 looks similar.

I went and sat back at my corner till the photo guy came and offered to transfer some of the pictures to me... I hesitated because I knew I didn't want to see the pictures but the guy was persuasive so I gave in. If only I knew the embarrassment that was lying in wait for me.

We proceeded to connect to xender, that was when my antiquated camon CX air that I've been using since 2017 decided to show himself. My phone kept rebooting on its own endlessly till the guy got fed up and left. I was super embarrassed.

My friend still came today to transfer the same pictures to me but I objected vehemently because I looked miserable in all the pictures.
I codedly observed guys in my compound dressed up for church and Sunday outings and came to the conclusion that sapa has been my best friend for a really long while.

I can relate. It’s tough wanting but not being able to afford even a decent living. People saying “inferiority complex” might have a point, but wanting, yet not being able to afford even modest clothes in four years could break even some self-acclaimed “strong” people.

I like how you’re holding up, and the way you sound shows that the temporary situation hasn’t broken your spirit, which is lovely. I’ll say hang in there, keep doing whatever you’re currently doing to bring in your daily bread, but try being more outgoing and search for more opportunities.

You’ll most likely get exposed to the unpleasant reminders of your current financial state while out and about, but you’re more likely to find better opportunities outside than being confined in your apartment. Maintain a high spirit, as nothing is ever etched in stone, and your present situation too shall pass. I wish you the very best man.

There is no way i want to explain that youll understand. i left nysc since and been job hunting with no luck coupled with societal rejection.
To learn a skill or certification, i need money. Does Zanzibar1 has the money ? no he doesnt.

Apart from feeding, to raise money i need a job. Out here good paying jobs are like a unicorn. I have no one to dash me money for certification or a roof over my head.

Inverter AC technology has great improved and the reason why i recommended get the new ones. And again, consider getting one with the R410 Gas as against the R22.

Hello sir @sacramento1212. I just stumbled on this thread while looking for recommendations for AC and fridges. Please, do i need to also avoid fridges with R22 gas? Or does the advice apply only to air conditioners?

Secondly, please can you elaborate on why the R410 gas is better than the R22 Gas? Thank you very much.

Generally, Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) charge controllers are more expensive than their Pulse width modulation (PWM) counterparts, but the prices differ depending on the brand of the charge controller and the ampere rating. A 50A MPPT charge controller will cost more than a 20A charge controller, and a German-made brand will cost more than a Chinese-made brand of the same rating.

You can search for it on the internet, and there are lots of them on Jiji for sale as well.

The guy I got the inverter from charged me 10k for installation. I told him I will get back to him.

On getting home, I opened the battery, the inverter and the panel. They all came with a manual

The manual was easy to understand and the summary of the installation is "connect positive to positive and connect negative to negative". "Red to red and black to black".

Na so I remove my cloth, pick my screw driver and run the connection as instructed in the manuals and violla, light is here

Good job and highly commendable. However, it seems like you didn’t get a charge controller for the solar panel. Connecting an MPPT charge controller between the solar panel and battery will regulate the rate of power the solar panel sends to your battery for charging. This will, in turn, help to improve the battery’s longevity.

You can consider getting the MPPT charge controller anytime you have some spare cash. Kudos for a job well done.

A good number of people turn to food for solace when depressed, so blowing up disproportionately when depressed isn't uncommon.

Its unfortunate that we live in a poor country/continent where food is usually a big deal and where most depressions are, in fact, caused by lack of job/food.

So, our own depression here, the person dey thin like bone, while for western countries, food is much more affordable (so people can easily turn to it for solace when depressed).

Can a 13-year-old girl give a man consent, and it will hold water anywhere on earth? Why would the boy's consent matter here?

He's a minor, and for that reason, it should be treated as rape. In a significant number of statutory rape cases for which males are prosecuted, the underaged girls gave their 'consent' wholeheartedly since they were thrilled to be found sexually mature and attractive by a much older male. However, that consent is non-binding and isn't regarded in any court of law.

I wonder why the underage male's consent, in this case, is regarded as being valid by the court.
