Hello ericksen,

The “interview required” might be for another visa officer to look through. Not for you.

Your application looks very positive. Start packing your bags smiley
Okay noted.
Thank you ooo

My GCMS dropped this night and I am a bit confused of the highlighted. Do they mean I might be scheduled for an interview or is it a generic message before approval is being effected?
Also I have attached my application profile...FYI, I already deferred my class to Fall 2021 as my program only starts in Sept.

Nice!!! I will be joining you in Halifax next year. Still waiting for my PPR. Which school are you at? Mine is Dalhousie University.
Dampops:
Good evening House,
For anyone planning to travel soon once they get their stamped passports back, let me share the experience of someone that arrived in Canada a couple of days ago....

“ Hey y'all!

I just woke up from my first night in quarantine.
So - I have been able to enter Canada. I am just gonna narrate the whole trip. For anyone who doesn't care about details: There is nothing to worry about if you have a study permit and proof of enrollment! For everyone else:

So I departed in Frankfurt and was already asked about my documents at check-in. Then again, when boarding. I have also had to get my temperature taken. I got on the flight with ease - which was low-key unexpected.

After 9 hours I was in Toronto. I was getting kinda nervous at that point. So I walked up the counter to the CBSA officer and I was literally just asked to show my study permit and proof of enrollment. I was asked nothing else - the officer passed my documents back and I was let in. It took less than a minute. I did not expect that.

I am also confused since I did not need to show the ArriveCAN app or anything. I am still not sure what to do with the app now - I can not fill in anything else. I might call the support soon since I am supposed to fill in a self-check every day. I can update on that if people care.

Before boarding my next flight, I had to get my temperature taken again.

When I got to Halifax I just needed to get my luggage and present another form (Nova Scotia Save Check-In) that I had filled out online in advance.

Now in quarantine I have to fill out several health self-assessments everyday.

Other than that I have just been laying in bed the whole time lol

I hope this helps everyone who is planning on travelling soon! Don't stress about it. My experience was good! The worst part was the travel itself (delays, weird airport procedures, etc...)”

Yes, it is generic. got the same from them a few days ago. What stage is your application on, and when are your classes starting?

Good morning Everyone I emailed the Nairobi immigration office on Tuesday and I got response today. I want to ask is this a generic reply ?

Congratulations!! I noticed you deferred to Fall 2021. I just want to ask, did you inform IRCC about the deferral?

Ujeinijobog:
Hello all

I got my passport request this morning.
I really want to thank everyone that has helped in answering my questions! You guys are awesome!

As for my profile, I am a first time applicant. I gained admission for fall 2020 but deferred to fall 2021.

My SOP was over a 100 pages (cause I included the evidence of all the facts I stated). It was also in my SOP that I attached and submitted the following documents:

1. A deed of gift showing that my dad transferred the house I'm residing in to me.

2. Proof of funds. (My mum was my sole sponsor and all I needed to show was my living expense cause I got full funding).

3. Study leave approval.

4. Evidence of the the awards I received in school.

5. Letter of employment.

6. My research proposal.

7. Previous travel history.

8. Medical documents corroborating my travel history.

9. Undergraduate research paper (I submitted this because of its relevance to my research).

10. Published articles (relevant to my research area).

11. CV.

12. Degree conferral certificate.

13. Copy of the various letters of appointments from organizations I'm currently volunteering in.

14. The contact of my assigned supervisor.

That's all I remember for now.
And yeah, I applied in May, medicals was in June, AIP in August, no BVL and passport request today.

While Google can help you out with the indicative rate, almost all the banks charge different rates. But I don't think the spread (the difference in their rates should be more than N10-20)
Luckybelt:
Hi all, pls what s the rate of naira to CAD dollar?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by ericksen(m): 1:11pm On Oct 12, 2020
Thanks Chocs. I am already in communication with my friend in Canada, I will apply for the GCMS today unfailingly.

Chocs:
Hello ericksen

You can order your GCMS notes to see what’s happening with your application. It will show the most up to date status of your application.

To do that yourself from Nigeria, just google “GCMS notes sites Canada” and you’ll see several websites you can order it from. It costs between $15-$20 cad and can take up to 35 days to be ready.

If someone in Canada (Citizen, PR, temporary resident) is ordering it on your behalf it would cost $5 cad only.

Best wishes

Good evening guys,
For those that have gone for their bimotrics enrollment please I need your help.
The date on my Biometrics Instruction Letter (BIL) expired on the 9th of August (couldn't go because of Covid19). Can I take this same BIL to VFS or do I need to request another letter from IRCC?
My appointment date @ vfs is on the 17th of Sept.

You guys should not believe the rumour that it takes time for QLIFE to upload medical results. I did mine on Friday (31/07/20) last week and my profile was updated yesterday (05/08/20).

Yes,
The document highlights all that you wrote.
Thank you
dommakavelli:
Each school have their own policy. As long as the document shows your new start date and that you have admission with the school, I think that document would work.

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by ericksen(m): 7:23pm On Jul 23, 2020
It was not a new admssion letter per se. It's just a document showing that my admission has been deferred. Should I request for a new admission letter from my school?
dommakavelli:
I think you're good if you already sent them the new admission letter. My brother didn't get a response as well when he sent his new admission letter. But, if you want to confirm that they received it, it won't hurt if you send another email.

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by ericksen(m): 6:37pm On Jul 23, 2020
Thank you so much for your response. I sent them an email but got no response. Should I send another webform? or does the email that I sent earlier (which they did not respond to) suffice?
dommakavelli:
That's fine, no worries. Deferring your admission would not change your eligibility or status of your application. I called IRCC regarding same in the past. The only thing that might change is your study permit approval and expiration date. So, it's good that you let them know.
I'm not sure why you would need to renew your visa from Nigeria They usually give minimum of a year visa depending on the duration of your study. You are expected to complete 50% of your study in Canada, so you have enough time to travel before it expires.
If your passport expires soon, Just make sure to renew your passport and you have minimum of a year before your submit to IRCC.

Good luck

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by ericksen(m): 5:47pm On Jul 23, 2020
You can reach out to them via webform and and email or lets allow the gurus here to respond first.
Ujeinijobog:
I applied recently but I didn't state that fact. I asked a friend and she said we have one year to enter Canada once we get the visa and that was why I didn't bother since I figured it may take a while before I get approved. So the plan I made was to enter within the one year period.

But do you think I should reach out to IRCC to notify them?

Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by ericksen(m): 4:39pm On Jul 23, 2020
If you deferred till next year (Sept 2021), I don't think you should apply now but if it is till January 2021,I think you should go ahead and apply. Just state it in your SOP and also add the deferral letter and email correspondence. I hope this helps.
I deferred after applying (when I was asked to start my classes online)
Ujeinijobog:
Hello, please quick question. I also deferred my admission and I'm in the visa process. As such, is it necessary to inform ircc that I already deferred?
Thank you.

Good day friends, Please I need help.
I deferred my admission till next year September (cos of covid19) then I raised a webform on cic. cic responded that I should contact Nairobi since that is where my application is domiciled in (which I did via this email nairobi@international.gc.ca but they did not respond till date). Just yesterday I got an email to go for my medicals. My question is, should I raise another webform (on Nairobi page this time) or should I just chill and assume that they are aware already?
Another issue is that if peradventure I secure the study permit, how easy is it to renew it in Nigeria if the expiry date is close before I travel?
Thank you

Oh! Thank you very much! I’ll go for the medical nextweek!
Congratulations in advance!

You don’t need to be surprised, the new regulations from IRCC is that applications will be processed without Biometrics and a temporary approval will be given pending when you are able to submit your biometrics.

With this temporary approval you can start your online classes. [/quote]

Hi guys,
I just got a message from cic asking me to go for Medicals.
Mind you I’ve not done my biometrics.
I am kinda confused, is it not supposed to be the other way round?
Submitted my application 2nd week of May.

As a new member, I have taken the time to read the thread from 1 to present. You guys are too much. I don't have any question for now (you guys have done justice to virtually all) as I am yet to even get admission into any school. I applied to Dalhousie University (MSc in Business) and I am expecting their response regarding the admission. Also, I am yet to complete my application at Carleton Uni.

I know you all will answer me when I need your help.

My advice to fellow new members; read the whole thread before asking questions (Trust me you won't have any question after reading the threads)

Peace.
