If you have the money, I will advise that you get another passport. So you won't have to worry about delays in your application and all. But if you don't have the cash, well you can proceed with your application. Since your permit is most likely to come out before the passport expires. The bolded is my top recommendation though. maestro09: Good day everyone,
I am planning on applying for a study permit next year for a program that starts in September.
My International Passport expires December next year.
My question is if I go ahead to use this passport, will it be an issue when I apply for Visa? |

Wait to go bro. January ain't that bad too. I believe they will get back to you by then. When is your program starting? Uzomachukwu: I've heard that a million times, bro. It surely sounds like great advice for everyone having a huge anxiety over their application. I wouldn't be going for it though, not yet anyway. If by January I've not heard anything from then, well, I'll have to request for my GCMS notes. But for now, I'll wait—just a little while longer. The year is as good as spent! |

Order your GCMS bro, I am currently on this boat. I applied May 10, after medical and all, nothing till now. background check and eligibility still ongoing. GCMS says I have been approved. So yeah, GCMS will give you some kind of assurance and rest of mind (-ish). Uzomachukwu: So IRCC finally updated my medical today on GCKey (there was no email notification). A part of me already feels like I've secured my study permit & visa approval; for me, the medical was the major fear.
Applied on June 16, Upfront medical on Sept 01, Biometrics collection on Sept 08, Eligibility review and background check still ongoing August, No other update from IRCC since after biometrics was updated on Sept 8 Medical updated today — passed!
Waiting for further updates: correspondence letter and hopefully PPR! |

For those of us that have crossed to BVL, PPR and co levels, let's not forget the newbies in the house. I can see that we are not helping them enough with their requests. Please let's continue to support them so they can progress to our stage too.
As for the newbies here, before you ask any question, I will advise that you take the time out to read the thread from the very first page, you'd see that before you even get to this page, you'll notice that you already have the answers to most of your questions.
Cheers! |

Mine was supposed to start this Sept 2020. But I had to defer to Sept 2021 (my program does not have winter/spring start date). As per my application, I am waiting for my BVL/PPR {My GCMS shows that my SP has already been approved}. HorlarJP: Amen o, it must surely end in praise and my program is starting by January 6 and yours and what stage is your application?
But I doubt if my application will be sorted by then because some September applicants here are still told to be patient... Geez |

True. More reason why I am going to the province. Na PPR we de wait for laidis ooo!! Frankrobbn1: This is because their tuition fees are cheaper and the Atlantic province is the easiest place to secure your PR without stress. The visa officers are fully aware of this, that's why prospective international students find it very challenging getting approval with some of the schools there and only a few are granted visa.
It will end in praise |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by ericksen(m): 4:03pm On Nov 21, 2020 |
Go ahead please. They are both different applications and IRCC will not hold anything against you as they allow individuals with dual intent. So you will be judged solely as a student when you apply for SP. Gbola007: Good evening gurus in the house, can someone who has applied for express entry and didn't qualify apply for student visa? What are the chances of getting the student visa considering he has applied for express entry before. |

Have you done the biometrics, if yes, then I should take at least 5hours or so. Except there are some glitches at the VAC, Sugarbunny94: Una well done o!
Let me rephrase my question. How long does it take for biometrics to change from " your action is required"

Mine arrived in less than 35days. A friend in CAD did it for me ($5) Uzomachukwu: Count from when the application was completed, not when it was submitted. Applying for GCMS note, which will take another 2 months to arrive, isn't the way to go for now. |

Hello, When is your class supposed to start? I will advise that you order your GCMS note. I applied since May 10, eligibility and background still ongoing on my portal up till now. But the GCMS note showed that my application has already been approved. P.S Medical has been passed though P.S.S I also deferred to Fall 2021 (maybe that's why they are not concerned cos they know I still have time). Uzomachukwu: Those guys? Their delay seems to be legendary.
I applied June 16, Upfront medicals Sept 1, Biometrics Sept 8, Eligibility and Background checks still ongoing, No AIP, No BVL, No update about my medical.
I've contacted them thrice in the past 1 month. They responded only once, two days ago, saying:
Good day,
In response to your email enquiry below, kindly note that this application is still under active review by our office. At the moment, we are not in a position to give a clear indication of when we anticipate finalizing this application.
