SavageResponse: Op, it is not possible to invest N5 million in a tipper/truck and reap N10 million in a year!
If it were possible everyone will be investing in the business!
To start with N5 million is not even enough to buy you a first grade used 30 ton tipper which is the minimum you need if you really want to be making large monthly turnover.
The only type of tipper it can buy for you are probably (5 - 10ton) capacity those type that ply Ilaro/Abeokuka/Ota/Igbesa/Agbara route supplying sand, laterite etc and they will not generate the kind of cashflow that will translate to N10 million in a single year Well said |

SavageResponse: You were just a Team Member not even Team Lead talkless of being an investor and you're here making noise.
I'm not impressed by the lame figures you're throwing around.
You say your team was remitting N1,125,000 a month...well answer the following questions: - Was it just 1 truck? - What was the cost of the truck or trucks? - What is the capacity of the trucks? - Was it bought brand new or was it a used truck? - What route are the trucks running? - What load does it carry?
I knew all along you were just a rookie...I can 'smell' guys like you from 100 miles away!
People like you just have opportunity of getting a sneak view of a business and you automatically assume you have become an expert in the business
You still have not answered the first question I asked you:-
Provide realistic calculations showing how an investment of N25 million in a truck for haulage business will fully pay back and also deliver profits in just 24 months
Things you need to show in your calculation
- Brand of the truck - Cost of the truck - Capacity of the truck - Type of load it will be carrying - Distance it will need to cover every day - number of return trips it will make in a day - Daily cost of diesel - Amount the client will be charged per day - Will the charge be per day of per tonnage of load delivered -Brand: Howo Cost: A brand new truck goes for 25m, Tokunbo for 16m and used for 10m Capacity: 30 tons Load: For our last job we hauled granite from Saturn Quarry in Akamkpa, Cross River to Julius Berger Yard in Port Harcourt. No. of trips daily: 1 Diesel: 200 litres calculated to cover to and fro movement. Rate: I personally secured the job for the company at the rate of #5000 per ton including money for fueling, road levy, driver and driver's boy allowances as well as maintenance to be covered by us. 70,000 for daily expenses mentioned above. Lol as for the reason why i wasn't team lead that's because I'm also into automobile retail and armoring of basic vehicles up to ballistic 6 (B6/A9) level so i have my hands full already. I still facilitated the purchase of 2 trucks previously used by a construction company for less than a year and in great condition might i add for 10m each. During my time with the team, using my contacts we were able to remit 1,125,000 for 18 months before i left but fortunately it is a 2 year job with option of extension for another year so i made sure they were well taken care of. You called me a rookie but i have been in the Automobile Industry for 5 years JLR to be precise (Jaguar, Land Rover, Range Rover) and an Engineer by profession not to mention 2 years in armoring where i have facilitated transactions with companies like Inkas and ArmorMax so who exactly are you to call me a rookie? |

SavageResponse: That is why I asked you to prove it to me.
Prove to me how a 30ton or 45 ton Howo or Sinotruk, or DAF or Volvo truck will recover it's full cost and profits in just 24 months.
Show me evidence and solid proof to confirm that you have done it before and I will give you US$500!
Stop quoting figures you cannot defend...we're not all ignorant here! And i didn't want to be an asshole earlier but i have to mention it to you so you don't make the same mistake elsewhere HOWO AND SINOTRUCK AREN'T DIFFERENT BRANDS , They're literally the same thing but you wouldn't know that even if it hit you in the face Stick to what you know kid and leave haulage for those who know what they're talking about. |
Investment › Re: Who needs investors by Ericnrm(m): 6:38am On Jun 28, 2020 |
SavageResponse: Of course I know there are truck managers that pay more than N1.5 million a month but it depends on a lot of factors
Answer my simple question by showing us calculations of how an investment of 25 million will fully pay back in 24 month.
I can bet all the money in my account that you have never bought a truck before in your life that's why you're busy throwing up bogus and unachievable figures you can't even defend!
You people will just sit in one corner to monitor a person's business and automatically assume that you already know all there is to know about it!
Meanwhile the only thing you took into consideration is the money coming in, you will not see the money going out and all the expenses needed to run the business I will only say this once and no more, I have close to 3 years experience working as a trucking agent and manager and was part of a team remitting about 1,125,000 every month to the truck owner after taking care of overhead expenses. I have contacts in Crown Mills, LaFarge Cement, Dangote Cement just to mention a few and i can tell you with 110% assurance that rates for interstate jobs will comfortably cover all costs so please i think you should educate yourself before ranting all over an online forum like this. Have a blessed day. |

DJperdurabo: Please, folks before contacting me, just take a little time to read through the requirements. It helps everyone.
Now, if after reading these requirements and you feel that despite not meeting some of the requirements, you have a good case, you may contact me (this does not apply to new businesses. I currently, do not finance start-ups never minding how "profitable" the business is.
A requirements update:
1. Your business should be registered either as a limited liability company or with a business name (RC or BN).
2. Your business should be domiciled in Lagos or have an office in Lagos (no more outside Lagos dealings....I see shege nor be small!)
3. Your business should have an account with a bank (this is where lots of folks fall out as their businesses don't have an account-they run the business from their personal accounts to probably avoid bank charges).
I now consider a personal account based on the particulars of the transcation.
4. Your business should have been in existence for at least 2 years.
I now consider businesses less than 2 years based in the particulars of the transaction.
5. You will submit a two-year business account statement for my review to determine the health or cashflow of your business.
Following from (4) above, you may submit less than two-year bank account statement.
6. You must not have been reported to any credit bureau for defaulting on any loan you've taken in the past or are currently servicing. Except you have a very good explanation for this, I won't deal.
7. For LPOs, you have to provide evidence of other LPOs you've successfully completed within last year and subsequent invoices detailing payments. All the above also applies here.
8. I now consider Agric deals (the nation must be fed given the pandemic). Please this doesn't warrant that you come to me with deals that make little sense. Your deals should be well thought out and in progress already.
Contact me if you meet with the above. Hello Good day, We are Trucking agents and managers looking to purchase tippers to bid for haulage contracts. We have contacts in major companies and firms such as Crown Mills, LaFarge Cement, Dangote Cement just to mention a few and would require funding to the tune of 25m to set up operations with a repayment period of 36 months including interest. DM for business plan, revenue projections, proposal etc. 110% certain to deliver and interest rate is good. Any interested investors are welcome to PM. Thank you |

Trajan: It is not as easy as you think. When you're looking for above average returns combined with a sizeable capital outlay, making a decision doesn't come easy! You gat to be careful!
Look, I've gone through all the posts here. Virtually all are either just starting out; do not have collateral or are facilitators to the person who knows the person who owns the company!
Even when they have it all together, they plan to tie your money down for a long term investment plan yielding little annually. You may as well do T-bills. If he gets a solid one with good cash flow showing good margin profit and not just turnover then I'm sure he'll be game. I once ran a business that was averaging 10 -12 million naira monthly in turnover but real profit was only 500k naira..
Even as I type this, a friend of mine (still met him today) asked my advice on how to invest 250 million. He wants something with a decent monthly return of say, 10% monthly and like OP, he's not keen on real estate..
On the thread, I didn't mention Nairaland. It's been a while though..about 9 years now. Tell your friend to come and invest in the haulage business. PM for more details He would only need to invest about 25 milion and repayment plan with interest as well as equity shares after repayment during a span of 30 months. |
