Things no one would tell you about new south wales;

1.so many asians here...about 80 percent if im not exaggerating,chinese tops the list.

2.it gets dark by 5pm...like 8pm in naija kind of dark.

3.once in a while,in a bus,you will see a white granny staring at you like she just saw kinta kunte.. lol

4.It is absolutely possible to live a lonely life,with no friends like a psycho.. grin

5.you will probably meet not more than 5 blacks in your first week.

6.Chinese generally dont associate much with other races,so dont feel bad,for you are not alone.

7.you will probably need some time to get back your normal sleep cycle,sleeping during the day and late night wakefulness will eventually balance out.

8.nkechi back at home probably thinks so much more of you now,but then,you are still the same person.

9.most bills are paid bi-weekly,eg rent,gym bills etc

10.cheap things like ordinary keyholders cost about $13 and a something like a printer+scanner=$35....imagine

11.you might actually not wanna go back home... grin grin

still luving it here..

Hi all,

Got my 574 visa yesterday....applied 15 May from the UK. Heading to Newcastle, NSW. Anyone heading there or currently based around that axis should holla.

This thread has been so so so helpful. Thanks to you all. Now I can get to contribute meaningfully and hope to give 'real-life updates' when I get to Australia.

Cheers!

@Dav6.

Your Company should write a short Letter, it should be like a Letter of Recommendation, Addressed in an Original Corporate Letter heading directed to the DIBP, stating their awareness of your intentions to study the program applied for and that you are recommended for the program.

That the Management will be happy to re-hire you once you complete this program and return to Nigeria.

You will then attach a Certified copy of your contract Letter.

Dav6:
@bossladymo1 and other gurus in d house pls I need u guys input..I got this mail from DIBP...To facilitate processing of ur visa, pls provide d doc, leta frm ur current employer, confirming ur current position wt d coy, as well as any future job offers afta d completion of ur studies.....include ur name, date of birth, applictan In d list at d top of ds leta ween u write to us...on my sop I started dat I wud return to my job after my studies...I included my cv but I dnt include offer letter..Question how wud this letter look like,does my employer ve to swore to affidavit again? do I need to include my employment letter to back up d letter from my employer or only d letter from him alone? does my employer need to provide future job offer letter for me again which may be somehow difficult? Or just to state in d letter dat I wud continue wit dem after my studies..pls I need ur inputs. Thanks

@YoungPboy.

You have not gone for Service yet. You have decided to go for your service on Completion of your Adv Diploma Program in Australia. Make it short.

youngpboy:
Thank you very much for the insight.

Anytime Man! smiley

One of the best replies ever, Thanks

that process will be fine, apart from your O'level, did you have any other qualification? if no, you can apply to study at: www.cdu.au(Charles Darwin University in the Northern Territory). there have programs that are relevant to your intended Study Career. and you will not sleep in the classroom.

The University will package you for a Certificate program towards a Bsc program (3yrs 5months total). where you will be required to pay AU$6,000 fee deposit and OSHC AU$2,800 (Total AU$8,800 or AU$9,000, approx NGN1,450,000) to get your CoE and its a speed SVP. the annual cost will be AU$18,000 to AU$20,000 max.

Visa practicalities and medical will cost:

1. Visa Fee (80,600) and teleperformace fee: NGN6,700.

2. Medical: NGN35,000 to NGN45,000.

For accommodation, you can Use International House Darwin (IHD) for AU$146 per week for a dual shared room. The advantage is that you can work for 20hours (payment is AU$18 to AU$20 per hour) weekly to upset your study cost in addition to the payments of your tuition from your parents back home in Nigeria, this will significantly assist you with your living and study cost.

Flight to Darwin is around NGN260,000 to NGN300,000 (one way) via Singapore giving the distance to Darwin.

You are required to take an English test proficiency exam (IELTS or PTE). IELTS requirement is 5.0 with no band score less than 5.0 and PTE is 46 with no band score less than 42.
