PoliticsRe: No Matter How Long You Protest, I’ll Remove Subsidy - Tinubu (2022) by Eriokanmi:
Juanmike:
Good luck Jonathan has no ball, that's his undoing.
He's the kind of a politician everyone must not emulate. He's so weak. He had a good plan for Nigeria but too weak to implement them. If I were Jonathan, even if Tinubu sponsored protests for a month, I'd still stand my ground. After all, I'm in control of the military and police. I'd have arrested all the sponsors and charged them for treason.

Today, Nigeria would have been a better country. All those protesting back then just wanted to use subsidy and chibok girls to cease power. Even jega, the then inec boss had been given an appointment recently, which proofed what orubebe said inside the national collation centre of bias. After all, governor fayemi was right, that the protest was purely political.

People must learn from Jonathan. See what Nigeria has become today. Apc took advantage of him. It's a party who must not have been allowed to taste power forever. The subsidy apc is claiming has gone had come back in full force. So, who's deceiving who?

SportsRe: Annette Nneka Echikunwoke Wins Silver For USA After Nigeria Frustrated Her by Eriokanmi: 10:58am On Aug 07, 2024
APOPTOSIS:
I pity those that still believe Nigeria will just change suddenly one day.
For any change to come into play, there must be agents of change just like we have in agents of pollination.

You can't have a country infested with too many lawless and mad people in significant number of up to 90% now and you expect sudden change.
You must be delusional.
Every sector is now compromised.
Who will salvage who?
You've said it all my pesin. I once shared the story of one Taiwo here who was very good in soccer. Her skills surpassed what oshoala is displaying today cos I had watched her play in liberty stadium ibadan a couple of times in the past. She always trained with men. She was amazing. When it was time for enlistment, she was asked to bring some money which unfortunately, she was unable to raise. Her coach begged and begged, alas! That's how she was dropped. She ended up going to study nursing . She'd have been an amazing star today. There are her likes in thousands out there, whose hope and talents have been buried due to corruption at the helms.

It was good amusan went to school in the USA. That's how her Star would have been killed. I have my reasons for attacking tinubu here. It's not tinubu alone who's corrupt. We have their likes in every sector. Super corrupt people. Before Nigeria could get better, revolution that will remove all of them from the office they're occupying must happen, either by ballot or by mass protest as we're seeing today. They don't have to be killed. It requires a concerted effort.

In western countries, they won't ask you bring money to be enlisted rather, they'd be the one to spend on you. They know what it means when someone represents their nation well at a major game and wins gold. They appreciate it more than the monetary values which our leaders celebrate here. Money, money and money which won't take them anywhere farther than their graves.

PoliticsRe: Fuel Subsidy Is Back – Obasanjo Faults President Tinubu’s Claim On Removal by Eriokanmi: 6:25pm On Aug 06, 2024
casualobserver:
I suppose you think we should continue to borrow to pay subsidies? i suppose you think it is a good idea to continue to subsidize the wealthy to send their children abroad and banks workers to round trip the dollar?

Just answer this one question: considering 97% of all our revenue was earmarked for debt servicing, considering that a significant portion of our future crude production had been collected in advance by the Buhari regime and spent, how do you propose we pay for the subsidy on petrol from the 3% left? dont forget 3% is at best $1b and subsidy was running on $6-10B a year? dont forget it is from this 3% (less than $1b) we will pay salaries of government workers, build roads, fund our schools and hospitals.

just answer this one question please....i eagerly await your response!
In as much as I was never in support of subsidy payment, I faulted the policy on one important ground... whenever a surgeon wants to operate on a patient, he invites an anaesthetist who applies an anaesthetic agent to relieve the patient of the pain. The drug would have been available before the operations starts, not during or after the operation else, the patient will feel discomforts and may eventually be traumatised and die in the process due to an unbearable pain.

In Angola, subsidy was removed but gradually, are you aware? They also have crude like Nigeria. Before this was done, just like what Jonathan did in his term, enough palliatives had been put in place. That's why Angola isn't crying today as Nigeria over hardship. Energy is every nation's livewire. It affects every sector and the masses always bear the consequences cos politicians don't care. They spend public funds.

When Jonathan was going to remove subsidy, he had already provided palliatives. I remember the Sure-P programme and what it had achieved. I remember those buses he reeled out and other incentives, including drugs and equipment in hospitals to alleviate the sufferings the removal could bring.

Tinubu came on board and said, subsidy is gone! But without any palliatives in place. That's why Nigerians are crying today. It's like sending your child to school and say have a nice day my son, without giving him breakfast and lunch pack, and you expect him to concentrate in his studies?. Tinubu placed the cart before the horse and that alone was disappointing as someone who claimed to be prepared for the job. Here in lagos, you can unleash some propaganda and get away with it, not at the national or federal level. You'd be caught in no time cos everyone can't be on your side always. We are a vast nation with nearly 400 ethnicities.

Removing subsidy without the palliatives in place was like unleashing suffering on the masses deliberately. It's not done anywhere. Since he knew buhari didn't make any provision for subsidy payment in the 2024 budget, why not prepare a supplementary budget on palliatives and seek express approval so the masses wouldn't feel the effect of subsidy removal? It's been over one year in office yet, no palliatives in place. Instead all we hear is purchase of presidential yacht and new jets when he can repair all the fleets we had for less. The masses will get sense someday. For your information, they now pay subsidy in trillions due to inflation so, subsidy is back as they now pay even more. The naira he floated was another disaster. No caring leader does that. Subsidy and naira floating are the reasons for our economic woes today. This only favoured the rich as they declared billions in stocks gains.

Go to other African countries, they're not so badly hit. We're supposed to be the one sending aids to them due to our position in African, which we have lost already

Nigerians are really patient.

Did you understand what Obj said?
He was a 2Term civilian president and once a military head of state. So he knows what you don't know. Tinubu is the cause of the hardship we are facing now, by his thoughtless decision and statement on fuel subsidy removal, when he hasn't even sat on the chair even for a minute.
Obj, is saying, the haste to remove, caused inflation that has brought it back again.
Can't you understand that the fuel subsidy is back again, despite Tinubu's denial that it has been removed and can't be restored again. Obj knows what he is saying please.

Why are we always quick to point fingers?

Obasanjo should remember that the issues with fuel subsidy didn't start today. Tinubu is trying to navigate through a maze of challenges left behind by previous administrations.

Instead of casting blame, let’s support the efforts to find a sustainable solution. We need to look at the bigger picture and give room for progress, no matter how slow it may seem.

What’s important is that we keep pushing for better policies and hold the government accountable, not just criticize from the sidelines.
As you know, it's very difficult to defend failure. Just rest grin

Amusan is involved in a drugs scandal.
Ofili is clean.

Clear difference.
We may share the same stand and view on Tinubu's persona, based on your moniker but I differ on your claim about Tobi Amusan, except you just made that statement deliberately to spite some people.

Amusan has never been charged for testing
positive to drugs a substance. Rather, the athletics body sanctioned her for failing to show up for the routine whereabouts test twice. If you missed the test twice, you'd be suspended as an athlete. But amusan gave her reasons for not showing up, despite being the most tested athlete, according to her.

Tobi was a student so her activities back in school in the US caused her to miss the test up to 2 times But the athletics body said she didn't inform them.

Hope that's clear enough. Failing to show up 2 times for a routine drug test is different from someone who was tested and failed drug test

💯

Being a virgin is by choice, which applies to both genders. But it still remains one of the criteria of discipline and fear of God. But it doesn't change one's character, which is in-born. Though, there's nothing God can't do to change human bad character to a good one

Bangladesh, a replica of slum to city. Nigeria needs to learn how this formerly poverty-stricken and wretched nation is fast rising to be above board. Their country keeps getting stronger by the day. Trump has a sewing factory there. If you want to buy top quality sewing or fashion materials, Bangladesh is your next destination. They don't pick from dustbin in dubai anymore to survive

The reason they're rising so fast is simple...leadership

You're right...and if the military should take over power now, na dem go dey run go UN to protest meanwhile, they're only fighting for their pockets. Their excesses since 1999 are enough reasons for the military to come back. They've done worst things. They've totally abandoned the masses whom they pretend to be serving while they're busy pursuing their own goals. They have huge investments overseas. One of them owns one of the best universities in ghana whereas, he was living from hand to mouth during the radio kudirat days, sleeping in his frends' houses in lagos.

Tinubu is a clear proof. When he was busy running up and down in the late 80s and early 90s, insulting the military, one would think he was truly a democrat, not knowing he was a slave driver in the making. He entered politics finish and bought the 1st jet, bought the 2nd jet and the 3rd, sponsoring protests upandan and intimidating his known opponents and still pretend to look innocent.

I just pity the illiterates who are backing him on empty stomach

PoliticsRe: Day 5: Kaduna Protesters Block Army Deployed To Engage Them (video) by Eriokanmi:
When the excesses of the civilians remain unchecked, the military will definitely use it as an excuse to take over power. Anyone thinking nothing of such can happen in Nigeria again is dreaming. It's even long overdue the way the corruption is being celebrated in Nigeria and politics have been turned into a padi-padi affair at the expense of those who are supposed to be enjoying the dividends of democracy...the masses.

The rich can thrive anytime and in any government but the masses can't. They're always at the mercy of the government.

This is serious. Honestly that land is huge It extends from Idasho community to Okunraye community. It is 30 minutes drive with a speed of 100km/h.

It still baffles me why a refinery is only producing diesel whereas a normal refinery using fractional distillation should produce flammable Gas, PMS, Aviation fuel, kerosene, Diesel and others.

Something is fishy. I just hope is not another portharcourt or kaduna refinery in display. Time will tell but to me the time is now. Danger danger danger. 22billion dollars waste is not moi moi.
Dangote refinery is capable of refining aviation fuel, diesel, petrol and urea fertiliser. Research on your own.
