Look at lies that you are spinning seamlessly.
I stayed in Coker. I lived at Fatimoh close in Coker village where most of the Igbos who do business at Odunade live.
They don't sell building like the ones I mentioned there. They sell mainly toiletries, water machines, pipes, tiles etc.
Most of what they sell are imported by Doyin industries who always import 15,20 etc containers every now and then and this is where they mostly buy from.
I am very privy to the doings in the sector of building materials.Yorubas dominate it 95%.
Where you can see building materials include Lagos Island,Pelewura,Sura,Owode In iron,Orile,Ladipo in Orile Iganmu,Oluti etc.
You will hardly see Igbos except a11w very few.
The fuel chain market, new and old vehicles are also70% dominated by the Yorubas.
Igbos are mainly petty business people.

Let me see if you know what business really is or you are just clowning.
If you think Igbos know business up to Yorubas...
1.Name just one Igbo business that is up to 48 years and I will give you Yoruba businesses that are more than 100,90,80 years and still kicking.
2.Name just one tangible Igbo businesses abroad and I will name more than 10 Yoruba businesses,Most multibillion dollars businesses.
I still have more only if you can pass that.
So, if toiletries, tiles, pipes , doors aren't building materials, then what are they? Tell me. You've simply agreed to my submissions. If you remove those item's you mentioned from a building, what's left are the iron, sand and cement. In my previous post, I mentioned that igbominas, especially oro people sell iron cos I bought iron from them in different mms. How many of them are selling those items you and i mentioned and in wholesale?Where did I lie seamlessly? I bought Stevo doors which is a known quality Turkish security doors at odunade shopping complex. Stevo is popular at odunade and he's an ibo man. We don't sell doors as much as ibos do. You can quote me anywhere. A whole building of 3 floors are occupied by doors only at odunade. Cross to the other side of the new pedestrian road and you'd see several warehouses where home wares are stocked by ibos.

How many of adedoyins and oyin jolayemis do we still have around and I'll mention plenty of ibos who are manufacturers in lagos alone, actively. Where's okin biscuit today? Where is doyin cubes, etc? Most of the banks are owned by ibos, hotels, transportation companies, indigenous breweries, indigenous pharmaceuticals, agribusiness,Computers wares and electronics, Oil and gas, name it. How many Yorubas are trading at alaba market? What of ASPAMDA and Tradefair? Alaba alone will swallow those areas you mentioned. Its where I've also been severally as lagosian We used to be known for such businesses but not anymore.

We're now more of administrators than industrialists and we need to go back. Where's adebowale electronics today? Ibos have taken over that line. Odutola tyres nko? Go to alaba and see wonders. Eleganza had ventured fully into properties with less manufacturing. Don't forget, the topic is about ibos taking over houses and property in Ibadan. In same vein, they're taking over most of the indigenous businesses in which we used to be a leader.

Don't talk of overseas businesses and those who own them cos they contribute nothing to Nigerian economy and most of them don't claim Nigeria. Its totally irrelevant to this topic.

Yorubas, mostly the Igbomina from Kwara state dominate the building materials market in NigeriaThey are the ones who deal in blocks, iron rods, mesh wires, paints, ceilings, timbers, plywood, nails, corrugated iron sheets, cement etc.
They don't only deal in them, they manufacture in Nigeria too.
Yorubas also dominate the fuel chain market in Nigeria.
85% of fuel stations etc are owned by Yorubas.
Not to talk about vehicles, mother care, jewelleries etc.
Igbomimas, especially the oro people are petty-traders in building materials and iron scraps they also sell hand tools. When we talk of major building materials, go to Odunade-Coker at mile 2 and see things. I used to join people like you to beat chest until I visited that place. The 90% of the shops there is owned by igbos. A yoruba man owns the odunade/coker complex. That's where I bought all the materials for my house at alimosho.

The agbeni-ogunpa market in Ibadan, that used to be occupied by yorubas are now being taken over by igbos. There was a man called shangokoya in those days. He was the sole importer of lister engine which was mainly meant for grinding casava and corn, from india. It's an old invention. The engine uses 2 drums filled with water to cool it down, it has a long wide belt connecting the engine to the grinder if you still remember it. Some used to convert it to an electric generator in those days. Mr shangokoya became old and his children couldn't continue. That was how the business stopped. Ibos have taken over already. Go to all our villages. Boys have abandoned farming ,now doing okada business in the cities instead of learning the type of trading ibos are doing and taking the skills home to establish. How many ibos do okada transport? Their people will scold then.

The last time I travelled to my maternal grandmother's town in ekiti, most of the shops I visited to buy things were owned by ibos. One of them has a petrol station there. If he builds a mansion in my town today, they'd envy him instead of blaming boys who grew up in that town but doing okada transport in the city. As they're leaving for cities, ibos are tapping the opportunities they're leaving behind. There's no way people won't build houses, buy parts, buy drugs if they fall ill. Those boys don't see all these but quick and daily okada money. Who do you blame for that, still ibos? Our orientation needs to change, seriously.

Bigmouth3 is right..

The only ones that have money among them are their politicians, senators, state senators e.t.

Most of their money is from crime. If the i_b_0 man is arrested the children may not want to have anything to do with the house because they see it as proceeds from crime and will end up selling the house back to Y_0_r_u_ba people.

Another problem is the person buying the SW house may have been a kidnapper in the SElooking to expand his kidnapping business to the SW like evans..

A kidnapper from SE was caught 2 weeks ago and in his house in the SE. He had an empty soak-away filled will dead bodies of his fellow i_b_o_s that he had kidnapped and killed.

And these are the same people you claim are united.
You may be right but every tribe is also guilty of such crimes. True or false? The onus is on us to learn from them legitimately. How many Yorubas are selling car or car parts at ladipo or elsewhere? What of building materials? These are regular needs and money spinning business areas we're not looking into. You don't need juju or rituals to thrive in it. Only a few of our people who ventured into it never regretted it. I don't need ti mention names. You know them. I'll remind you of Elizade,.metropolitan, etc. They're billionaires today.

I am not against investing in other people's country or land but the problem I have with igbos is this.
When they come to a new place ,they live ,try to buy off or influence everyone. They never go back home .they can stay somewhere for 25 years before thinking of visiting home and before then, they must have brought extra 100 people to the same town. Thereby overcrowding the locals .they don't even do reasonable or atax paying business .but small unchecked shops all over and crime hidden underneath.
They replicate all this world and it's annoying .it's parasitic .they should change .that's why locals are always against them.
Who told you not to do the same? Read my post above. We're the ones doing ourselves not the ibos. They're really innocent
PropertiesRe: Igbos Buying Up Oke Ado, Ibadan — Yorubas Lament by Eriokanmi:
Nobody reigns forever. Afterall Egypt used to be owned by blacks until something like this happemed and they became nearly non-existent. Praise the ibos for buying up those properties. I grew up at oke ado, near the Nigerian tribune. Most of the houses there built by middle class yorubas had been deserted. I grew up meeting some of them shut, even till i left Ibadan. I've never seen any of the owners around. Most of their children lived abroad while some had even nationalised and died there. None of their children is remembering home. I remember baba obisesan's house at lodge street. He was a notable politician during the awo era. His children, who are already very old, still visit once in a while, while grandchildren aren't even aware such a house exists there. Late Mr Odusote, the owner of the popular odutote bookstores Ltd, the largest bookstores in africa in that era, located at oke bola opposite pa awo's house was on the next street to ours in oke ado. Though he forced 2 of his children to return home and manage his business, none of them lives in the mansion anymore. It's their mechanic who lives there alone, the house that used to be bubbling. They're all living at bodija. One of them is commissioner under sanwoolu, Lere Odusote. All his siblings live abroad while the females among them married white Americans. I was close to them

There's Mr olatunde agbeja's house too near college crescent. That place is deserted now. His children are all overseas. Only one of them is around, who owns Boff Insurance brokers. He doesn't even live there.

There's this fountain boreholes ltd. The man made sure all his children who went to school in America returned home. They're now managing the man's business. There are several houses at idi ope that are deserted now, they're buying them like no man's business, especially from barr aribisala lodge downwards.

There are many reasons I like igbos as a yorubaman. They're more homy than we are. They are more united than we are and more enterprising. You cannot take all these qualities away from them. If they lived all their lives abroad, they must return home and they always look back. They invest home. Unlike us, once we enter UK or America, we pack everything along with us and forget to come back. The current japa syndrome is going to affect us in futhre cos many won't think of coming back again. Their children will refuse to come back if they didn't build the culture into them. I read of a woman doing cleaning job in the LSE who was accused of stealing a bracelet today, which she actually didn't steal but gave them back after they asked if she saw it and she said yes. She was sacked. This woman is 72 years old for God's sake. What's she still doing there at 72? She entered UK early 70s. Igbos won't do that. They'd rather be visiting at that age.

We need to have a rethink. We welcome strangers but we don't learn from them. An ibo man would come to our land with a pair of trousers, learn trading and by the time he's done, he opened a small shop sleep and cook there. We say we're going to omo ibo shop to buy this and that. Omo ibo will open 2nd shop and put his brother there, then rent a room apartment. As business grows, he occupies a flat and welcomes his brothers. Before you know it, he'll approach the landlord and ask him to sell the property to him. He'll offer an attractive sum and the landlord will sell it to him. Before you know it, omo ibo has pulled it down and erected a hotel or a warehouse or a shopping complex there , build his own house, etc.

While all these were happening, the landlord couldn't release one of his children to learn same trade omo ibo is doing. He thinks there's no money there or a waste of time. They'd now be threatening them for occopying their land. No be God go punish such people? Awon ole, ọlę gbogbo.

We don't help each other, afi oyinbo bi opęęre. Where are you from, who's your father, what does he do, which state are you from...even when you're speaking yoruba, he's responding in English cos he doesn't want to help you. Once an ibo man says keedu to his brother, that's all. My head of technical department is ibo and we travel.the world together, very honest and hardworking. I also have fellow yorubas in the team. It's high time we began to learn from each other. They may not know book, but they know business and how to make it legit. They now go to school too

Ekpeitut:
"Entering a new prosperity era"? That statement is not just out of touch — it's an insult to millions of Nigerians battling unprecedented hardship. Since President Tinubu took office, the naira has plummeted, fuel subsidy removal has crushed the average household, and inflation has made basic survival a daily struggle.

Hospitals are underfunded, schools are collapsing, insecurity is rampant, and unemployment is pushing more youths into despair or out of the country entirely. If this is the promised prosperity, then it’s either a cruel joke or a deliberate gaslighting of a suffering population. Empty rhetoric won't fill empty stomachs — Nigerians need results, not recycled slogans.
Pls forgive him. He's too old to talk straight. He doesn't even remember most of what he's said anymore. That is not true. We have health insurance here as well for cleaners: both private HMOs and the government NHIS (National Health Insurance Scheme). In lagos there's the LASHMA (Lagos state health management agency )
In a standard people orientated society, you shouldn't be allowed to work at certain ages when the society should be the one taking care of you. Let's not praise what's killing us.
It depends on what the health insurance covers. There are surgeries that the Nigeria health insurance won't cover. I remember the history of a Nigerian shared here on nairaland some years back. His health insurance package couldn't cover his hand surgery despite working in a good organisation in Nigeria. It was a dubai citizen of Indian ancestry that helped him out under his insurance cover. I'm not talking of malaria and typhoid that most Nigerian health insurance covers wink. I understand your point though, especially the age bracket under which old people are supposed to stop working and like I said earlier, it's only in Nigeria people see it as a big deal seeing old people working.

Visit America one day and see grandpa working as security or cleaner. They don't see it as a big deal, even though they've attained retirement age. I've seen many over there. Some already had their back bending. It's not good but who will feed them? As we love giving back to our parents at old age, nobody cares over there. Once they're grown, they leave the house. Some nice children may visit once in a while why many won't. They'd say parents have pensions, health insurance and government care to enjoy. Worse case, they throw them inside old people's home when they're too old to go out.
That's one of the reasons I hate the system. I can't raise my children there. It's unafrican. Most Nigerians emulate them, too bad, while Chinese and Indians living there still keep their culture intact. Some of them still pay mortgage even at old age with a few years to complete them. If he dares miss one month, he may lose the entire contribution he's been making for almost 3 decades on the mortgage. To avoid this, papa or mama must work. Hope you understand

You're getting me wrong. There's no job seen as a dirty job over there.. you can also work at any age, provided you still have the energy. That's my point. As a cleaner, she'll enjoy many benefits that only the rich enjoy here in Nigeria, including health insurance. If she's complaining about rent, it's a different thing

In my life I've never seen a politician as heartless and wicked as Tinubu...
Tinubu isn't heartless. He's just clueless, super corrupt and a propagandist. Being Nigerian president is a task quite bigger than him but his followers won't agree. He should have remained lagos politician.

Everything is in a disarray, not only about insecurity. Economy is in a complete mess. Healthcare is nothing to write home about. People now use agbo to cure various illnesses. In his supporters words, Nigeria had been living fake life before tinubu came. Its now we're living based on our income and living standard but if you ask them why cfa, a uselesss currency in africa had left the naira far behind, they'd not have an answer for it. If you also ask them why did the government do much during the fake life years than now on infrastructure with less borrowing, the illiterates won't also find an answer.

In 2019, when 1usd was around 395 naira, I had 5m naira in my savings account sitting there comfortably. Just yesterday i tried to evaluate it in line with its current worth. That 5m naira is 24m naira today. That's not a good life . Tinubu won't be allowed to come back.

Overseas, there's dignity in Labour. No age limit, no shaming, nothing. As long as you're still active, you are employable. A cleaner in the UK is a multimillionaire in Nigeria. Since she's moved to the UK, she must have had meaningful assets including buildings in Nigeria from that cleaning job if she hasn't eaten with both hands. She may also be closer home at 71 than you think. If she retires home at that age, she could age faster. Even with her cleaner job in a place like LSE,she'd get health Insurance and other benefits. Who can offer cleaners that in Nigeria, tell me.

Thieves don't return what they stole , except they're caught or maybe they repented after some years and that thing is still in their custody.
