Rating: Just want to drop my 2 cents on IELTS and CELPIP.
More and more people are finding IELTS challenging to max and I'm not sure why.
Some are saying CELPIP is better. Everyone is sharing their opinion but at the end, we all must choose.
My summary is that preparation for these exams involve understanding not just grammar and use of words but what's expected of you to be graded high (CLB 10) in these exams.
For example, in the listening and reading sections of both IELTS and CELPIP, expect to understand the summary of the topic and the meaning of words and issues. They are big on paraphrasing for the Q&A.
In the Writing sections, expect to put your thoughts across in clear paragraphs with a good use of sentence structures as applicable to writing emails and opinions.
In the Speaking sections, there are some variations with the questions, but the key is being able to convey your opinion with some related points with examples and less word repetitions. In my opinion, the idea that you're speaking to a human interviewer in IELTS can make it more challenging than speaking to a computer. Others might not feel the same. But different strokes for different folks.
Again, the most important thing is to understand the structure of each exam and what's expected to get a highly desired grade in each of the sections, especially writing and speaking. Reading and Listening is all about practicing multiple past questions and finishing within the allotted time.
IELTS:
- multiple centers in Nigeria, - multiple time options - 2 seatings (3 sections in one sitting and the speaking section in another sitting, possible on the same day). - mixture of language and accents - a little more expensive when compared to CELPIP (266k vs 220k) - multiple payment options - result out within 5-7 days.
CELPIP
- only one center in Nigeria, and it's in VI, Lagos. - time options are highly limited (since it's only one location) - one seating for the 4 sections of the exam - Canadian accent all through the listening section - payment options are limited. - result out within 2-3 days
Choose carefully but most importantly, prepare well.
P.S: Your Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) is NOT the average of your scores across Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking sections but the LOWEST of your scores in any of the sections. That means R7 W6.5 L7.5 S7.5 for IELTS is a CLB8 or R10 W7 L10 S9 from CELPIP is a CLB7. This applies to TEF and TCF results as well.
P.P.S: If you do not max your primary language scores (CLB9+) and you already have or planning to get 2 degrees/Masters/PhD, it won't matter much as you won't get the desired extra 50 points in the Skills transferability section. Thank you for this piece. Please do you have any IELTS links/materials that has the actual listening audio. The ones i have doesn't come with an accompanying audio, only the questions are displayed. Thank you. |

Farawayman: Yes it a must to add them if you have one. If you select that you have spouse and the spouse is accompanying, you will have to load her profile and get scored for it, if you say you have but not accompanying, you will not get scored for her. If you add her after ITA as accompanying, your scores will be recalculated and if the new score falls below the CRS cut off, you will not be able to proceed again.
Asides point, I think you risk misrepresentation if you claim you don't have a spouse and later come in future that you have one. The level of family disclosure required is much more than spouse, you will even be required to include your spouse family(living or not). This I think is vital for future sponsorship funkyy598: it is not mandatory to add your spouse at any stage if your spouse is unaccompanied and not travelling with you to Canada. However, Presently many people are actually adding their unaccompanied spouse after passing the eligibility stage of the PR process. This does not affect the score, but I’m sure sooner or later IRCC will crack down on this practice, especially for people who are not newly married but initially stated that their spouse was unaccompanied to increase their CRS scores, only to add them later after passing the eligibility stage so the application can be processed together , knowing full well that spouse sponsorship after landing in Canada can take over a year to process sometime. Thank you guys so much, this is well understood |

utrills: Hello house, I applied for my Visa on the 5th of July through my agent. Since then it has been on Initial Assessment, until today that I imported my information from immi account, I saw it and had to click the attached doc.then pressed the confirmation button ,after that it took me to Further Assessment.
My question now is ,will that cause further delay for my grant?
Pls I need answers. No it won’t delay your visa grant. The confirmation button helps to inform the COs that you have attached all documents and ready for a decision to be made. Congratulations in advance. |

Amoshine: Hey beautiful people,
Is it possible to be self sponsored to study in Australia? If yes, how much do you need to show as POF (is it same amount with being sponsored by relative or different?)? Does it impact your chances of getting visa? I will appreciate some candid advice from those who were successful or unsuccessful, as the case maybe, when trying to self sponsor.
Thanks. 1. Yes it is possible to self sponsor as long as you have enough funds to show for it. 2. You must have funds for your 1st semester tuition(atleast), living expenses ($21,041), health insurance, and travel cost ($2,000). With the current float in Fx, you should be looking at N30m+ as POF for a single person. You also need to show how this funds were gotten. If you are employed, your payslip from the organization you work for must be included. 3. The amount is expected to be more when using a sponsor. It is assumed that a sponsor should be doing better for him to be able to sponsor you. Ofcourse you don’t expect a sponsor to give out all the funds in his account and not have anything left for himself to survive with. So your sponsor should have more funds in their account. 4. Yes POF impacts on your visa outcome. In fact, it’s one of the major reasons for visa refusals. I hope this helps. Others can also add to this if I missed out on anything. Thank you. |

denzel231: No they haven't deferred the admission and the agent said there's no need to defer it and the next thing was that she saw that coe withdrawal in her email. The agent told her that they will still give her visa bla bla bla and the girl is worried. How can they give visa with coe that has been cancelled? They have applied for that visa fr about 3 months now or 4. Visa for 3 months and no decision? That’s strange. Anyway, I will advise she tells the agent to defer to the next intake so she will have some time to her advantage. Once she differs, the school will send an updated coe which she would then attach to her immi account. That makes more sense than waiting in the shadows when the coe is about to be canceled. Based on the email you shared, she has only 28 days to make a decision, so the earlier the better. I hope this helps. Maybe the most experienced amongst us can throw more light to this. |

Good morning! I understand your concern. It's frustrating when your agent doesn't communicate and provide updates. In situations like these, it's a good idea to give your agent some time to respond. However, since it's already been a few days and you haven't received any communication, you may want to consider taking some action.
Here's what I suggest you do:
1. Try contacting your agent again: If you haven't already, make another attempt to reach out to your agent via phone or email. Express your concerns and ask for an update on the visa application. It's important to give them a chance to respond before taking further steps.
2. Consider finding an alternative solution: If your agent continues to be unresponsive or doesn't address your concerns satisfactorily, you might want to explore other options. Look for another reliable agent or consider contacting the relevant embassy or consulate directly for guidance on your visa application.
Regarding the selection of "Yes" for the question about being stateless, it's crucial to have the correct information on your application. Since you mentioned that you are not stateless, you should inform your agent that they made a mistake and ask them to correct it immediately. Clear communication and accurate information are important in visa applications to avoid any complications.
Remember, it's always helpful to have a proactive and responsive agent during the visa application process. If your agent fails to meet your expectations consistently, you may want to reconsider using their services in the future.
I hope this advice helps, and I wish you the best of luck with your visa application! Thank you for your advice, she eventually responded after I raised concerns. She has submitted my application. I appreciate everyone’s contributions. God help us |

Travel › Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Ernest93: 7:13am On Jul 12, 2023 |
NB1912: Regarding your first question, i believe your agent is waiting for her manager or superior to check all the information entered are correct and ensure all the documents required have been provided. This is a standard procedure.
Is any of your family member stateless? If no, then your agent needs to change the response immediately. I don’t think she’s waiting for her supervisor to cross check anything. She sent me the summary of my application to cross check for any mistakes. The mistakes I pointed out hasn’t been addressed. I just feel she’s relaxed about the whole thing. This lady in question is Australia herself. I’m guessing her own studies and personal issues isn’t giving her the time to conclude my application. She replied my chat this morning saying she will upload my documents and then I will proceed to making payment but she hasn’t done that yet. I just want to know if it’s something I can by myself cause it seems I’m bothering her. I wanted her to do it because I didn’t want to make any mistakes myself but at this rate, I’m beginning to get worried about my application. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you |

I have tried calling her to find out what the delay is but she isn’t responding. Do you advice I proceed with the application or still wait for her? Also on the part where it’s written “Is this family member currently stateless?” She selected Yes.
