SmooshCHN: I vex no be small.. I vex. All I saw was sheer laziness.. Steve Kerr was right, the guys played like they didn't even care for a win. I don't want us to play OKC first round.. Cos the way momentum shift from 3-1 to 3-4, e fit happen.. KD, Klay and Draymond just choked. No excuses and i don't believe in one imaginary switch.. We no dey play better game at all. Did you see the Rockets vs OKC game? Bad refereeing can destroy any game and Rockets tasted what they had enjoyed for most of the season. Instead of worrying about beating Pelicans (who deserved to win) we should care more about getting into the playoffs healthy. I don't judge bad performances in isolation. The regular season means nothing. I just need motivated players when the time is right. Only thing that disappointed me yesterday was that we have been bad in the 4th quarter in close games. That is the only issue. |

Why should the argument be about Pep alone? If you call out Pep, why should the rest be ignored? Yes Klopp dealt with him despite the meagre budget, but Jose is exonerated right? Is Sevilla budget close to Liverpool let alone that of Man United?
Wasn't Ancelotti sacked despite inheriting a double winning team? Why is he exonerated? Don't let him turn the argument into Pep. I can't discuss the credentials of someone who is on course for a domestic double after they said he won't win a spoon. The only thing being discussed is how SAF spent over 624M in 26 years in United of which I said would easily have been 2B in today's market. |

Nihilstjnr: Also I think Eruditor's logic is sound.
We must never forget that Ferguson was breaking British and World transfer records upandan until Roman came to save the EPL from the clutches of the Scottish devil.
Ferguson even broke transfer record twice in the same window on at least one occasion.
The mathematics of the equivalent value is just an irrelevant distraction that Scummies are using to deflect from the simple fact that PDP was the original PEP. I mean, someone purchased Veron for 28M, Rio 30M in 2001. So his spending is 58M. Another purchases Pogba 89M and VVD 75M in 2016/17 (164M). Then people say the latter has spent 106M more than the former and when you tell them to compare the different markets. The "Logic" you start getting is, "SAF did not spend in 92. He spent in 98. Show us a formula. You are tied in torturous knots. Take your L". |

afrodoc2: His logic is not sound. He has tied himself in a tortuous knot of his own pseudopods, the flagrant amoeba.
Now let us bury this Fergie misconception once and for all.
Fergie won the EPL 7 times in 9 seasons from 1992 to 2001 AND NEVER ONCE TOPPED the Total spending chart.
The first time Fergie topped the total spending charts in the EPL was in 2001 after he had already won 7 league titles, 3 FA Cups and 1 champions league title.
For those who don't have A1 in Further Mathematics. Throughout the 90s when Fergie was truly dominating the EPL with 7 EPL titles, 3 FA cups, and also won 1 champions league title he never was the top spender in the EPL in any season You are making emotional arguments. If that were not so, I don't need any history about what he won. His winningness is not being questioned. SAF came 1986 and did not win the EPL till 92/93. Why will I evade all those years to argue he did not top the spending in 92/93? I can as well say he needed 6 YEARS of spending to compete whereas Pep needed 2. Which will spur a whole new discussion that deviates from the original. The fact remains that Pep's spendings and SAFs can only be compared based on what they represented not in the position of spending. To that end, a 28M Veron (English record for a midfielder) can be compared with an 89M for Pogba because they represent the same thing. To leave that and start prating on about top 6 spending or making yourself judge and jury all in one smacks off the "community argument" you guys do here. |

The emboldened is exactly what I'm talking about, that's one of the Variables you are failing to understand. Chelsea is a big Club, also a big Spender, hence that does not determine the real Value of Stones.
Has Stone proven himself yet?! What about Laporte....... £57m?! Is he better than Lindelof United paid £30m+ to secure?! Pep is spending recklessly and outrageously to win the League, that's the Point.
Laporte, Stones ain't a better Player than Adarabioyo. Hence during Ferdie Era, how much do you think both Laporte and Stones would cost?! La Porte had transfer clause. Totally different. He was waaay less without the clause. The point about Stones is..in this day and age his value was 50M. Let me even just go as recent as when Smalling was a hot prospect. How much was he? Oxlade Chamberlain was 35M in this market. And Cantona was 1.2M. Andy Cole was 7M. Is it fair to compare? |

In fact 13M was the world record in 89. 5M was world record in 84. So is it fair to compare Neymar's 200M value to Maradona's own of 5M ? Different markets. My summary. |

You see, the point gap you're highlighting only shows you how good a competition we were up against... This is the premier league, we have seen it all, Andrew Johnson came and scored so much but after that season? He disappeared like the fart of a leprosy witch (coogar of blessed memory) Darren Bent nkor? Papisse Cisse most recently came and was scoring all manner of outstanding goals but where e dey now? Talking managers, where's Ranieri? Where is that Portuguese guy that was sacked recently by Watford, remember he was the rave of the moment after his stint with Hull City? Who is talking about Conte now? It takes more than a season of fine performances and winning trophies to be reckoned with. That Arsenal team better than this one ? Yes. But Liverpool..Chelsea..Tottenham are waaay better than the ones in that year so balances it out more than well. United with 78points compete with a team that has 84 after 32 games. Haba. |

afrodoc2: Erudite nonsense.
We showed with net spend that Pep was no 1 while Ferguson was no 6 and no 3, he changed shape to total spend.
We showed with total spend that Pep was still a bigger spender than Ferguson compared to contemporaries, he changed shape with pre-EPL spending.
Now we have shown with pre-EPL that Pep was even a much bigger spender, i expect another shape change.
Gentlemen we are combating an amoeba here. While Dayo merely turns amala, this one extends and retracts pseudopods. To have good netspend you must sell players of great value. Netspend does not work here. If you jump 5 seasons of Fergie coaching to talk about 92/93 total spend it is skewed. If you compare Fergie's total spending with the rest of his contemporaries in England, that is fair. Only snag is this is pre-Fergie winning the substantials. Fergie built his title winning 92/93 squad over years buying and buying and offloading where necessary to have that squad. He effectively had a better squad than most. That is BTW. The crux of the issue is Fergie's united total spendings to Pep's in 2 years. I am saying you would inflate Fergie's to the present day market to compare properly. |

You spent whole Night making no sense, cos you are still unable to prove your Points mathematically and scientifically. This ain't a simple arithmetic Class where Kids are learning Multiplication and Addition of Numbers?!
There should be a formula, or a Theory that clearly explains how you arrive at the Figures you are quoting. The Stone that City bought for £50m could be bought by another Club for a lesser Price cos he's not a proven Talent yet.

In Fergies 1st EPL season (92/93) his TOTAL spend was 3.53 m pounds which was (wait for it) SIXTH, behind Blackburn Rovers, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa. In Pep's 1st EPL season his TOTAL SPEND was 213m pounds which was 1ST in the league.
In Fergies's 2nd EPL season his TOTAL spend 8.5m pounds which was 2ND in the league behind Blackburn Rovers. In Pep's 2nd EPL his total spend was again 315m pounds which was AGAIN 1ST in the league.
Again for those who do not have A1 in Further Maths, Fergie was 6th and 2nd in total spend in his first 2 seasons in the EPL while Pep led in his first 2 seasons in total spend (and led by a mile). 760 in GRE Q should be a top score for a doctor. Please, don't tell me Fergie came 1992. He had coached since 86 so did he not sign then?
