As of 2008, when Pep took over Barca:

Name one Real Striker better than Eto. Infact add Henry.

Name one Real winger better than Messi. Reals best player was Robben.

Name any Real midfielder better than Xavi. Then add Iniesta and Yaya Toure. Real were parading Guti, Momo Diarra and Emerson!

Defence - Abidal and Puyol vs Cannavaro, Ramos and Pepe. That is the only area Real just shaded Barca.

So anybody that says Pep did not inherit the best team in Spain (and the world) is a Goddamn buffoon. Barca had by far the best players, just managed by the sloven drunk Rijkaard whose only other record on CV is relegating Sparta in Holland and getting sacked by Saudi Arabia.
The guy who used to finish last in class can always be the most intelligent student in hindsight.

"If I had differentiated SinX it would have been cosX and I would have gotten an A in Calculus. That Eruditor grin guy who got an A in the course was just lucky. There is nothing fantastic about what he did".

That typifies what you have above.

Where's the sense in what you posted?

So because they finished ahead in their various leagues the season, they're suddenly better?

Argue all you want but we both know it was Rijkaard that set up the Barcelona Guardiola rode on.
So if they did a ranking of English teams after 2015/16 will Chelsea appear above Leicester?

Rijkaard built his team around Dinho but Pep built his around a 21 year old Messi. That is the most reductive way I can spell it out to you.

You are only deluding yourself if you continue to assert any other thing.

This was you disputing their being at the top 5 them 2 years of struggle. Go through the link till Pep took over.

Declining team that made their first semi-final in UCl?
What hogwash are you talking about?

Your link showed 2006/07. If you have their ranking for 2008 bring it that is the level that Pep took Barca from.

Show us how that Barca team would be top 5 when United, CFC, RM, Bayern, Liverpool, Intermilan, AC Milan even Villarreal that finished above Barca in the league.

Just like Leeds that made a UCL semi final too and got relegated 2/3 years after. If you want to see if a team is on the up, you look at their antecedents. City went from 1st (beating most of the top teams) 2nd (iffy performances) 4th (could not beat any of them).

So hold unto UCL Semi final. Just like CFC holding unto their own after finishing 6th in the league. When that team was clearly aged and declining.

Actually, you have no point.

You called it 'his own team'... Which means he took them to that level. So he can be forgiven. You should also consider the fact that he lost most of his best players like mbape etc.

How about pep? Pep took over another man's sweat and hard work.. and reduced it to nothing.
I have not read a stupider rejoinder in my life.

If another manager had replaced Jardim it is people like you that would have said he destroyed Jardim's work.

Who destroyed Pelle's work when he went from 1st to 2nd to 4th? A manager that finished higher than his last season and 13 points better reduced whose work?

Who forgave him? Sheikh Mansour that replaced him? Oh Jardim should be but Pep should not be for inheriting a decrepit defence from Pelle?

My point is that pep reduced a champions league semi finalist to a team that couldn't go past the round of 16. The same way he reduced a treble winning Bayer team to Spanish teams semi final bittch
The way Jardim reduced his own team from UCL Semis to group stage.

The same way Enrique reduced his treble winning squad to a double the next year.

Do you see how asinine it sounds?

Say let's go back go their in-form days.

Since 2000. they've made 8 Appearances. Galatasary has done nothing and have 10 champions league appearances.
I am sure Basel, Shaktar have more appearances. I am not talking about pawns in the UCL. I am talking about a team that in the last 10 years played the UCL Quarter finals stage at least 3 times. That is what you are comparing to Galatasaray.

You are bold, but I do not envy you.

What point are you trying to prove, they weren't a top team before Guardiola took over?

Here's a link to club ranking before he took over Barcelona

http://www.bel-foot-euro.be/coupe_eu/sys3/rank/club/raclu_2006_07.htm

4th they finished, now tell me the top teams in Epl that haven't finished worse in 7 years.

Now Eat your jambalaya while you sip rum!
That is 2006/07 after they won the UCL and league in 05/06. Pep took over 2008/09. Try another story.

A team that finished 1st, 2nd and 4th (tied with 5th placed team) is on decline in any world.

That was the team he inherited in City.

Wipe the egg off your face.

When was the last time Juve won their league before he arrived?

Bleh Bleh. Weren't Barcelona amongst the top 5 Clubs in the world at the time?

The Arsenal invincibles, weren't they playing for draws at the 2nd half of the season?

Yes. City, best placed.

When's the last time in 7 years they finished below 3rd?
LOL.

Juve had been in Serie A finishing 7th 2 times before Conte. Conte is a good coach but please....please....

Juve won the league last, 5 years before Conte.

Barca were 3rd in Spain behind RM and Villareal. They were 18 points behind RM. They crashed out of the UCL semis to United. They had won nothing in 2 years.

If this team above is top 5 in the world, then Monaco is top 3 in the world.

Arsenal invicibles cannot be compared to that Conte's Juve. One team was imperial and elegant, the other was mechanical and brutish. That is why nobody talks about Conte's Juve till date.

City finished 4th before Pep came.

Allergi benefit'd from 2 things the foundtn Conte laid and the quality players he had, the finance made available to him to purchase. He was working with a 19yr old who ran away from Man U, Old players who are hard to motivate or change(ask Pep why he gets rid of them).

Even Pep had more cash to spend in Barca and Bayern than Conte had in Juventus.

I thought someone said Pep builds teams that others even enjoy but it seems he runs away the moment they begin to die off. Conte went from 23wins to 27 to 33wins thats progress.

Pep's real test hasn't come yet, cause even with the hype and expensive players at his disposal last season he was a disappointment. Zidane has more rep than him yet Madrid fans ain't has asslicking like those frogs from Barca.

Has Pep ever had the odds against him, even Ferguson has.
LOL, Allegri got to 2 finals and Conte did not get passed the QFs. Even if you are Mr Fantastic you cannot stretch enough to give Conte Allegri's credit.

Conte got Pirlo and Vidal his first season there which Ciro and the other manager did not get. Just like Kante, take Vidal out of that team and Juve are not the same. Both players were not with Allegri last season when he got to another final. So please, don't give me cold Zobo.

All these una more cash to spend tori no dey sweet again. Who did Pep buy that was worth MILLIONS and was instrumental to his success in Barca never mind Bayern?

And No, he did not run away when any pressure was much. In Barca, his man was Laporta and the moment he lost the presidency to Rosell, Pep wanted out. People prevailed on him to stay one more season which he did, but was unhappy all through. He wanted a CB for example to cover for Puyol who was aged but Rosell did not oblige. You are talking to a Barca fan here so I know the politics behind my club. Some of us piped down on supporting the team because we don't like Rosell and his boy, Bartomeu who like money more than anything. Neymar and Dani Alves left Barca for the same reason. Eric Abidal as well.

What expensive players at his disposal? Zidane has more rep than who? Zidane cannot tie the shoe strings on Pep's foot. Stop making callow remarks which even buffoons will cringe at. I am talking about someone who humbled SAF twice. Someone who learned German in one year to fully integrate into Bayern. Someone who won 14 Trophies in 4 seasons. Zidane needs to win 7 more trophies from now till 2018/19 to equal what Pep did in Spain.

Don't press that triangle button trying to play yourself.

All these Guardiola asslickers Maan

He's a top coach, not a god of a manager.

Ask them what he has done, they'll go on and tell you how he promoted Messi and how he turned Barcelona Junior team around.

The same Barcelona that had about the richest academy during the years?

He'll be a god when he turns around a team where pressure to succeed is.

Conte took Siena, Bari to promotion in Serie A. Turned Juve from a relegated team to a 3-time Champions in over years. Even the Italy that basically every pundit predicted to crash out, made it to the quarters.

Fraudiola and joining the best placed teams where there's no pressure.
Conte is a good coach but he has seniors. Every other thing you said here is hot garbage.

Conte took over a Juve team that had finished 7th twice before he came. They were not a relegated team. Not even close.

He is a pragmatic defensive coach which is why Mou kept throwing shade that CFC should not be celebrating him for winning defensively when he, Mou, was criticised for doing same.

Conte was known for packing draws. His first league season was heavily dependent on drawing games whereas Pep is known for crushing opposing teams.

Since Conte left Juve, they have faired better. Same cannot be said about Barca.

The pressure in Barca is the most- making it the most difficult job in the world because you must win by playing exquisitely. It is for this reason Mou was not hired when he begged for the job in 08.

City team best placed? grin grin

EPL
FA Cup.

Of the 3 things I listed above, Conte did better in 1 and half. Mou did better in 0.

There is no hype all he gets is constant disrespect including this piffle above.

I don't know why going a season trophyless is a measure of whether a manager is good or not. Mou has gone trophyless twice with RM and CFC. Where is your speech criticizing him?

And when you say Conte won the league with a team that finished 10th we can let you pass, but I have heard it long enough that I need to expose another myth that even I was ignoring; Conte does not win that title without Kante (PFA player of the year) and guess what? Ngolo was not part of that squad that finished 10th. So please, enough with this nonsense about who Pep bought.

Conte bought his own last season that worked for him. Pep has fixed the ills of his team and it is working for him. If Conte did not get hushed, then, nobody should tell us rubbish about who Pep bought. If buying huge was the secret to winning tell Man United to show you their last EPL since they started pumping money right after Fergie left.

Or ask Conte why he added £200M to his previous winners and will not win the same title again? It goes beyond buying players. The type of tantalizing football you are watching I reckon you have not seen in the EPL in the last maybe 10 years (if I am being generous).

All those highest bla bla you are quoting is a superficial way of viewing things. Ukaku should have more goals than CR7 this season since he was priced higher abi? Good, now you see that the market was inflated and City honored the quoted prices just like Mou, Conte and even parsimonious Wenger did.

If Pelle did great in his first season and did worse going forward how e take concern Pep? Jupp Heynckes won fvckall 2011/12 and then won a treble 2012/13. I don't remember people comparing him to LVGs first season who did so well and failed going forward.

If Pep cannot won the league with Leicester is it not because the players don't fit his philosophy or style of play? Or will Mou won the EPL with the same Leicester? Will Conte do it too?

If your answer is yes, then tell them to win this season since their respective squads are better than that Leicester team. Mtcheww.

They'll always be flaws in any system that requires the use of "voting" of some sort after all it is one man's opinion against another.

Aguero's cold hard stats however speaks for Him. He does not need the PFA awards to solidify his position as the "Best striker in the league". The same cannot be said for a RB, most especially not one that was deemed good enough to play just 12 games out of a sum total of 38.
Aguero's cold hard stats speak for him but not once did the PFA hear it but all of a sudden PFA voting team of the year now validates Kyle Walker as best RB? So Fabio Coloccini of Newcastle has been the best CB in the EPL and Scott parker the best CM too? Since the rule works well for defenders and not strikers.

But I am exposing the flaw in the reasoning that being voted in the team of the year translates to being adjudged as the best in that position.

I am using Aguero as the test experiment to my theory. He was in the final vote for forward of the year and he won it. Yet he did not make the team of the year.

Since someone can be the best at something and not make the list, therefore, being in the team of the year does not make you the best in that position. QED.

I watched the match

You can also compare man city vs man utd game and see the average passes of their midfielders.
Silva is the brain of that city midfield. He gives KDB more time to pick out his offensive passes.
Ball possession is Silva and Offensive play is KDB's
United sat back trying to counter. They were pressed high by City and thus could not string passes together. Tottenham tried to press high and prevent City from moving the ball to the CMs so City passed the ball quickly through the flanks. Different tactics.

Still in that game, how many passes did Ericksen make? KDB still outpassed him and all other Tottenham midfielders.

So forget your ball possession talk. City did not try to pin Tottenham back and outpossess them. That is why I asked you how many chances City got that were not from Counters? Tottenham too tried to play the same counter.
