Government will sponsor Muslims on pilgrimage to Mecca, and Christians to Jerusalem, and ascribe them no recognition, although they too are at fault they could have come up with their own initiative like creating a shrine in USA, Mexico, Netherlands etc. And claim Ogun, Acadiana, Sango etc mandated them to periodically go there to worship so that there would be a balance.

But, on a serious note, I feel Nigeria as a secular state has no business in sending people on pilgrimage. Why can't our government face the issue of welfare and leave the issue of pilgrimage to those who feel the essence and can afford it.
