Jobs/Vacancies / Re: . by estyvino(m): 4:28pm On Oct 21, 2019
Isuachrist:
Some of us are thinking if it's possible to get a job in Canada from here. Here are few tips to break out.

1. Meet Successful Immigrants and Get Their Firsthand Advice

One of the mistakes you will always make is following and believing everything you see on the internet until you’ve tried.
If I had to go with the internet noises then I wouldn’t have had my interview session to work with a foreign company. How does this relate to you?
A lot of aspirants or job seekers sound very concerned about the job market due to the humongous amount of negativity on the internet regarding Canadian job market for immigrants.

As per reports Toronto generated more tech jobs than the US cities in 2017. Toronto could not have done it if it relied solely on local population. Things are not so bad here as on writing this answer.

The rugged hack:
If you really want to become successful you have to heed the advice of those immigrants who were successful and ignore others. This is a life fact not just for immigration.
Ask for guidance on how to break into the industry and prioritize your network to professionals who are also immigrants. They will be more willing to help.

2. Study the Canadian job market

Study the job market. Seeking advice is just not enough. You have to assess how feasible it is for you, your skills and the present situations prevailing in Canada to get a job. One of such methods is by using a simple Linked account to search the appropriate job filters set.

#b, Go through the jobs posted in major cities of Canada via the job bank and get to know what the job description (JD) says. The employers mean if they say “an ideal candidate should possess ‘x’ skill”. (This is important t as you will need in your Resume | Cover Letter).

#c. Another best way to get a job is to check with your acquaintances if they have an open position in their team. But most of the new immigrants barely have any connections in Canada. So, do the job search the normal way - through LinkedIn, Indeed and other websites.

3. Prepare for the interview

There is absolutely no speech I don’t prepare for. What’s that?
You want to impress your potential employers if called upon for an interview.

It’s no joke because interviews may/are going to be tough, to the point and multiple rounds with each round having at least two interviewers.
If you’re in Nigeria, interviews will be done through phone, skype, zoom or similar medium.

#4. Be ready to travel for the final face-to-face round.
In your unique case, the company might insist on at least one face-to-face round after all the remote interviews. So, be prepared to fly at the shortest notice.

#5. Timing Zone:
The Timing zone can really play an important rule here. When I was scheduled for a face mash interview, we had to choose a time zone that would be suitable for us.

For Canada, the best time to apply is Canadian time 9am to 2pm, Monday -Thursday.

A lot of you always think everything is a competition. That's why this country is messed up

Any governor that isn't performing should be kicked out. Abians have foolishly voted Ikpeazu again..... It's their cross. Or is Abia voting now?

That's why I said I pity the people of Kogi if they vote APC, and the people of Bayelsa if they vote PDP. Both have failed, and it's obvious

But then, you pro-Buharists see any criticism against your party as a crime on humanity

Let me sit down and watch Abeg. My only business with Kogi is when I'm traveling to Abuja grin

This kind of post I quote for reference purpose, because there is wisdom in it.

Phones / Re: Google Records Everything You Say Around Your Phone. Learn How To Delete Them by estyvino(m): 9:42am On Aug 23, 2019
MGab25:
By The WebPamphlet

Google’s voice search function doesn’t just turn on when you ask it to. Rather, it records almost everything. The outlet reports that Google began doing this in June of 2015. Sounds creepy yet? Well, it gets even worse. You see, you can listen to the recordings Google has stored and associated with your name simply by visiting this webpage the company set up.

The feature works as a way of letting people search with their voice, and storing those recordings presumably lets Google improve its language recognition tools as well as the results that it gives to people. But it also comes with an easy way of listening to and deleting all of the information that it collects. That’s done through a special page that brings together the information that Google has on you.
How to delete the recordings
Luckily, if you’re not too happy about Google having potentially hours of your voice in its database, you can delete those files.

Beside each file’s title you’ll see a checkbox.

Simply check those boxes and click 'delete'.

How to Stop Google from Recording You Again
Now, as The Independent points out, stopping Google from recording you does result in some limited functionality if you’re using an Android phone or the company’s search.

However, you may be someone whose concern for privacy is much greater than finding what you’re looking for easily. If so, begin by never using Google’s voice search functions again. Follow up by disabling Google’s voice search.

Follow these steps for Android users:

1. Navigate to Settings
2. Tap the General tab
3. Under “Personal” find “Language and Input”
4. Find “Google voice typing” and tap the Settings button
5. Tap “Ok Google” Detection
6. “Under the”From the Google app” option, move the slider to the left

You can watch the video below to learn more about Google's creepy recording database:
