The trio of Muenfuh Sincere, Usman Muhammed and team captain Mikel Obi had their caution wiped out, hence will approach the tie against Germany without any fear of a possible booking that will see them miss the final if they beat the Germans. FIFA amended it’s tournaments rules few years ago, canceling single yellow cards picked up during quarter final games to stem the tide of key players missing final games due to accumulated bookings. Going by the rules, only the deputy captain of the Nigerian team Azubuike Okechukwu is suspended for Wednesday semi final clash against Germany, as the booking he picked up against Denmark was his second of the tournament. |

1. It happened some time ago but . I was in an audience listening to a motivational speaker. The speaker got out his wallet & pulled out a 500 Naira note. Holding it up, he asked, "Who wants this 500 naira note?" Lots of hands went up. Including mine. A slow chorus began to build as people began to shout "Me!" "Me!" I began to wonder who the lucky one would be who the speaker would choose. And I also secretly wondered (and I am sure others did too ) why he would simply give away 500 naira. Even as the shouts of "I want it" grew louder, I noticed a young woman running down the aisle. She ran up onto the stage, went up to the speaker, and grabbed the five 500 naira note from his hand. "Well done, young lady," said the speaker into the microphone. The speaker simply say "Most of us just sit and wait for good things to happen. That's of no use. You've got to make things happen. Make a move" 'Simply thinking about doing something is of no use and not gud enough'. Our lives are like that. We all see opportunities around us. We all want the good things. But the problem is we don't take action. We all want the 500 naira notes on offer. But we don't make the move. We look at it longingly. Get up, and do something about it. Don't worry about what other people might think. Take action. 2. later, the speaker got another 500 naira note and held it up for all to see, I thought I knew what's up. But he just asked a simple question. "How much is this worth?" "Five Hundred naira!" the crowd yelled in unison. "Right," said the speaker. He then took the note and crumpled it into a ball and asked "How much is it worth now?" "Five Hundred naira!" screamed the audience. He then threw the note on the ground, stamped all over it and picked up the note and asked one more time: "And how much is it worth now?" "Five Hundred naira!" was the response. "I want you to remember this," said the speaker. "Just because someone crumples it, or stamps on it, the value of the note does not diminish. We should all be like the 500 naira note. In our lives, there will be times when we feel crushed, stamped over, beaten. But never let your self-worth diminish. Just because someone chooses to crush you, that doesn't change your worth one bit! Don't allow your self-worth to diminish because someone says something nasty or does something dirty to you." Never let your self-worth diminish. Giftedheart.... |
What I learnt from the death of Alhaji Abubakar Audu yesterday Just when his family were about to start jubilating, they were thrown into mourning. Just when the wife was thinking about being a first lady, she became a widow. Just when the children were about to become the children of the number one citizen of their state, they became fatherless. Just when the world was about to rejoice with them, they were thrown into sorrow Life is not a bed of roses, never feel too comfortable, be prayerful, be committed to the service of God... This world is vanity upon vanity!!! Fear God and serve Him alone never equate yourself with God. If you must boast remember you are only but dust rather boast in the LORD He struggled for years, nothing to show for it. It is disheartening dat d enemies took his life at d point of success. He died when he already got his victory. I pray for as many dat can claim it, 'you shall not die at d point of ur success. You shall live to enjoy d fruit of ur labour in jesus name. |

This took place, during the official presentation
of the APC flag to the party’s Governorship
candidate in the state, Chief Timipre Sylva.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa has
suffered a great blow, following the decamping of
2,000 members of the party, including some of the
Governor’s aides, to the All Progressives Congress
(APC).
This took place, during the official presentation of the
APC flag to the party’s Governorship candidate in the
state, Chief Timipre Sylva.
Sylva, while receiving the new APC members,
alongside the National Chairman of the APC, Odigie-
Oyegun, said “A new day is dawning over Bayelsa
State. I want to assure you that I am now readier
than before to govern you.
“I equally want to assure you that I will not use your
money to marry more wives as some people are
doing. I will also promise not to take another man’s
wife. All those will go with the PDP administration.” |

Ordinary Rivers men and women, chagrined over the sudden blackout in INEC office on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, have mobilized and contributed resources together to buy two brand new plants for the use of INEC in order that enemies of truth and electoral Sanity would not sabotage the ongoing inspection of materials used for the elections of March and April, 2015. The Rivers election tribunal, sitting in Abuja, had ordered the notorious INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Gesila Khan, and INEC to allow APC and its huber candidate unrestricted inspection of materials used for the election. That court order was for months flagrantly disobeyed by Gesila Khan in connivance with Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State, until few days ago when Rivers APC candidates who were robbed in the elections staged a peaceful protest to INEC headquarters in Abuja. That protest x-rayed the malfeasance of Gesila Khan in the national conscience. Startled over the sudden pressure on Gesila to allow for inspections as ordered by the court, Nyesom Wike has engineered an anachronistic Stone Age strategy by ordering the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company to disconnect the INEC office in Port Harcourt to frustrate the inspections. It was also alleged that to make the frustrating strategy work, agents of Rivers PDP surreptitiously poured salt in the standby generator of INEC, rendering the equipment blunt. One PDP agent that has always perambulated frolicked within the INEC office is fingered as the mastermind of the salt plot. But unwavering in their determination to see that the truth prevails, ordinary Rivers men and women-traders, artisans, bricklayers, market women, farmers-immediately contributed resources and acquired two standby generators yesterday for the operation of the inspection. This is arguably the first time in Rivers history that kind of prompt and mass response has been elicited from the common people who are desirous of getting electoral justice. |
She was sitting inside her expansive palour,
located on a swampy street in Ikotun area of
Lagos when this reporter caught her.
Jessica Elvis, the president-elect of the National
Association of Nigerian Prostitutes, NANP, just
finished having her lunch when the reporter
arrived. ‘You are not a farmer. I don wash your
back o,” she said jokingly with a warm
handshake amid cheerful smile.
In the red light zone, Elvis, whose real name is
Oluchi needs no introduction. She was until her
election as the new president of NANP, the
longest serving secretary, between 2002 to 2015.
In this exclusive interview with DAILY POST’s
Ameh Comrade, the mother of one spoke on her
victory at the Saturday’s poll, plans for the
association and why she would like to make love
to Real Madrid and Portuguese soccer star, C
Ronaldo as well as Nigerian music sensation,
Dayo Balogun, otherwise known as Wizkid before
she retires.
You’ve been agitating for the baton of leadership
of this association, tell us the plans you have for
NANP?
I must really confess, it’s not easy as seen from the
stand. But there’s nothing much, I have been the
third in command since 2002 (General Secretary) and
I have been doing most of the jobs. I don’t see much
difference though.
Talking about the plan, like I said during my
campaign, I want to let people know that you don’t
have to work in NNPC or Central Bank before you
make it in life.
As the new president of NANP, I will make sure our
members are well taken care of. I will ensure all our
offices across the 36 states of the federation start
functioning. I will also make sure all registered
members get ID card.
As you can see, the world has gone global and we
should also follow the trend; in this regard, we have
proposed to launch a new website which will have
the profile and contacts of all our registered
members across the country. If anyone is in need of
our service, all you need to do is to go online and
make your choice.
Secondly, I will also fight for the freedom and
security of our members. We’ve heard of cases of our
members being molested and killed. It is callous. We
will have to stop all that.
I will also try to approach the new government on
how to make life better for us. We supported the
president during his campaign. We even declared
free s*x when he won and we expect him to
reciprocate by looking into our plight. We are also
part of the society.
You have been the Secretary General of this
association since 2002, what do you think the last
leader failed to do?
See, I don’t want to rubbish anybody. My joy is that I
have won and I am here to work for those who
elected me.
Your predecessor, Madam Efoyo claimed you
didn’t win the election, how would you react to
that?
If she says I didn’t win, let her call the police to come
and arrest me na. All I can say is that I won the
election and there is no doubt about that.
Why the choice for prostitution while there are
other jobs out there?
Point of correction, we are not prostitutes.
Who are you then?
We are friends of the society. Call us peacemakers.
National Association of Nigerian Peacemakers.
Do you regret choosing this part of profession?
Why should I regret what puts food on my table; built
me houses in Lagos and Abuja and even trained my
daughter in school? I have no reason whatsoever to
regret.
So you have a daughter?
Yes of course, she went for summer coaching. She is
15 years now.
When and how did you give birth to her?
I gave birth to her fifteen years ago.
Where is the dad?
That is story for another day.
You mean she doesn’t know who her father is?
Must she? I am both the father and mother.
Are you telling us you impregnated yourself?
Maybe or maybe not
…;Laughs (Give me make I marry her na)
If you near her, I go cut you ‘bell’ (laughter). My pikin
no go marry Nigerian oo.
Would you allow her to take after you?
When she comes of age, she would decide
How old are you?
I don’t know, my mum didn’t tell me when I was born.
But do you have any plan of leaving this work and
getting married some day?
Marriage drove me into this and I hate the word
marriage with passion.
You mean you were once married?
Yes, but things fell apart. But I’m glad because it was
a blessing in disguise.
When do you plan to retire?
Maybe when I make love to C Ronaldo (laughter)
Do you mean the Portuguese footballer?
(Excitedly) Yes! He is my crush. I love him so much
that his pictures even turn me on (laughter). I use to
tease my colleagues that I must sleep with him and
Wiz Kid before I retire.
Have you met Wiz Kid one on one?
We have met on several occasions but he doesn’t
know me. I even have a picture I took with him during
a show in Eko Hotel, but he doesn’t know what I do.
So, how do you intend to sleep with him?
God go do am when the time comes.
Talking about God, do you go to church?
Of course, I am a firm believer of Jesus Christ. I don’t
miss church activities. Sometimes, I would declare
fasting and prayer for business to come. Whenever
I’m fasting, I don’t go out or ‘do’ that day.
Where do you worship?
For credibility sake, let’s leave out the name of the
church.
Aside the people you sleep with, do you have any
special person?
Yes, I have a boyfriend. It would shock you to know
that I am very jealous. The day I noticed my guy was
cheating on me, I nearly cut off his thing.
Is he aware you are a ‘peacemaker’?
No, he is not based in Lagos.
What if he gets to know?
Na you wan tell am?
Is Jessica Elvis your real name?
No, my real name is Oluchi.
What is you father’s name?
His name is my father
Where did you come from?
I’m a Nigerian.
Which State precisely?
Must you know my state?
Are your parents aware you are a prostitute,
sorry, peacemaker?
Not really.
Do you still go out to ‘make peace’?
Well, I have a bigger responsibility now. I now control
over 20,000 people. So my movements would have to
reduce.
What is your take on the legalization of same s*x
marriage?
I am neither against nor in support of it, but all I
know is that whatever makes you happy, do it.
Do you make love to women?
No, I’m not a lesbian.
Don’t you think you are offending God?
You holy pass me? It’s funny that people have already
condemned us to hell. But it would shock you on the
last day to see who will be in heaven and hell. As for
me, I am going to heaven. I don’t know about you.
What have you achieved from this job?
I have cars. I eat food of my choice. I have been able
to put a roof on the head of my parents. I have
properties across the country. I have clothing line
and several other businesses.
Do you have male members?
You wan join? (General laughter) |
No fewer than 570 key members of the Peoples
Democratic Party in Bayelsa State are planning to
dump the party for the All Progressives Congress on
Saturday (today).
But an association within the PDP in the state called
the Unity Group begged the aggrieved members to
reconsider the move.
The group made the appeal at a news conference in
Yenagoa on Friday against the backdrop of mass
defections of prominent members of the party to the
APC.
Addressing journalists on Friday, Coordinator, PDP
Unity Group, Mrs. Marie Ebikake, urged the aggrieved
members not to defect to another party.
Ebikake, a former Commissioner for Transport in the
state, who was recently relieved of her position
because of her alleged closeness to the former First
Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, said the group was
committed to the unity and resolution of the crisis
confronting the PDP.
She said, “We cannot deceive ourselves. Some of our
people have vowed to go to the APC. We want to use
this medium to appeal to them to return. The home
they have built, they cannot allow it to collapse.
“We are a group in the Bayelsa State PDP that is
committed to the unity of our party, particularly after
the outcome of the recent general elections.
“We believe that losing power at the centre after 16
years should unite rather than divide us. We salute
the commitment of our members and supporters in
the last 16 years.
“However, we are not oblivious of the most recent
defections from our great party in Bayelsa State to
the opposition APC. We cannot also pretend to be
unperturbed of the planned defection of our
esteemed members on Saturday (today) in Yenagoa.
“There is no doubt that some of these defectors are
men and women of high political substance and
pedigree who have contributed to our past
achievements.” |
I'm sure that's Gov. Wike wearing that Suit... |
The Nigeria Football Federation on Saturday terminated its contract with Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi. Details of the sack were not made available to Sports Vanguard but we can confirm that the sack may not be unconnected with Keshi’s application for a coaching job with the Ivory Coast national team. The NFF had said the coach would be sacked if it was established that he actually applied for the job, a claim Keshi had consistently denied. Both the NFF spokesman, Ademola Olajire and Keshi’s manager, Emmanuel Ado confirmed the development which took most Nigerians by surprise. |

The National Industrial Court sitting in Yenagoa has granted an interim injunction restraining Rivers State Governor, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike and the State House of Assembly from dissolving the 23 local government councils in the state.http://leadership.ng/news/442708/court-restrains-wike-assembly-from-sacking-council-chairmen |
Abuja—The fate of the Port Harourt monorail, which was the pet project of the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi now hangs in the balance, as Governor Nyesom Wike has revealed that a committee has been set up to review it and advise his administration, accordingly. Speaking with journalists, in Abuja, the governor said the committee has been empowered to do a cost/ benefit analysis of the project, to see whether it was economically advisable to continue it or halt further works, given the current financial position of the state. Governor Wike said; “We have set up a committee to look at the cost/benefit analysis of the project. We want to see how much it will take to complete the project vis-à-vis the financial situation of the state- especially looking at the drop in oil revenue. “I won’t just go ahead. We will go or we won’t go on. Because we have to allow the experts to sit down, look at it critically and advise us. And we have to harvest the inputs of Rivers people. The money is not my money. So if they come up and tell us it will take so much to finish, we will look at our financial position. Like I said, if we had a proper handover, we would have already done a financial analysis of the monorail. “I won’t say here we will not continue and I will not say we will continue, until the committee comes with their findings. “Part of the problem we have in our society is that people don’t do cost/benefit analysis of projects before they undertake them.” |
