My people,Good evening to you all. My uncle want to apply for a Canadian Visa. He has had 2 diff sets of Canadian Visa ranging form 3 yrs and 2 years respectively. During the validity of his last visiting Visa, he undertook a medical procedure in Canada which he had paid for fully. The doctor is requesting him to come over for a check up and his previous Visa had expired. I want to know which Visa is he going to apply for now. Is it medical or visiting? It's a bit confusing to me because he would also be visiting his daughter who is schooling in Canada too within the period of him attending to his health there. Gurus in the house, kindly respond and explain the appropriate step to undertake in renewing this Visa. Thank you

Please let him apply as a visitor based on his previous visa and no complicate the issue because canada has no category for medical visa and ur uncle applying to see a doctor will raise so much suspicious and proof you will not be a burden on tax payer may be request even when you provide proof ur visa can still be rejected because canada medical system priority for now is for citizen and resident not foreign visitors ...let him apply to see his daughter to make the application simplier then when visa issue he can go to visit his daugher then branch at dentist or any other doctor so far he can afford it

Please house, I really do not know if this is the right way to ask a question in a thread. I need advice.

I have US Visa expiring Jan (did renewal in 2018 jan) however I have used this visa twice last year for casual trips prior to having a bun in the oven. What do you advice, as I am due in the first week of December and just got married. Hubby does not have a visa at this time and I intend to use a reputable hospital. My worries are no more change of intent letter, reappearance at the embassy et al. Should I just travel and come back with a clean bill?

It called b1/b2 ,and you already travel with it not once but twice, and you had this visa before you got pregnant so you can use it for birthing purpose just mAke sure you ur bills.and no need applying for same category of visa when you still have a valid visa!!

Please i hear you can come into canada freely with a SOLOMONS ISLAND passport. How feasible is it?Whats the implication

Solomon Islands citizens with GENINUE passport don't need visa for travelling to Canada as tourist. The stay is usually Short stay with a period of 180 days and visa expires in 180 days and you cannot work or study as a tourist.
An eTA is mandatory for all visa exempt national..An eTA doesn’t guarantee entry to Canada. When you arrive, a border services officer will ask to see your passport and other documents

Ontario health insurance commences 3months after you take up residence in the province. For me, I was going to be in Ont for about 3 months so I bought travel insurance from Naija(AxA Mansard) to cover me from any form of emergency including medical.

If you are relocating permanently it will also be good to buy coverage for the period where OHIP won't cover and after that OHIP kicks in if you have registered. You do not have to wait till the end of 3months to go and register for OHIP. Once you have your applying documents, go ahead and apply. You will be given a letter with the date coverage will commence.

I don't know how you will do it with a one way ticket as you have to put in the start date and end date of your journey on Axa's but I am sure you can work something out with the insurer when you call their help line.

I bought the family plan which was way cheaper compared to other insurance companies.

Please how do you settle or cover the emergency cost, you just present your insurance policy at the hospital or how or you pay and later reclaim money back from the AXA Mansard insurance,am just insterested ,how it works ??

She should get insurance before she travels. I used AXA Mansard and bought their family insurance. It cost me about N22k for a family of 3 for 3months (costs depends on their ages though).

She should buy it o. My son had to go into emergency care two weeks after we landed and I wasn't bothered because I had insurance. I would have been charged $500 even ontop my PR status because I did not have Ontario Health insurance.

If she is going to Alberta I believe provincial insurance cover starts from.day 1 so she should not bother IMO.

I don't believe that the American embassy is targeting Nigerians regarding this birthing issue, we all know what the problem is here though some are playing a blinder.

How many people here have gone for an interview, declare child birth, present burden of proof, VO was convinced and issued a visa then you traveled , gave birth and paid exactly or above that amount you presented to VO during your interview and was unable to renew that visa?

I have lost count of how many times people come here to ask for cheap hospital or birthing centre after getting a visa, if you convinced the VO that you planned to spend $10-15K and got the visa but you decided to go for cheap and cheerful option then don't expect to get that visa renewed.

I strongly believe that the American embassy in nigeria is targeting Nigerians
Why is accepting discount suddently become a crime for nigerians giving birth in usa and mr justwise have this altitude of usa embassy cannot be wrong...during the change of intention era ..the american embassy are quick to clarify the issue but on this discount issue ..why is the embassy so silent and not out to clarify issue

Mr justwise help me ask ur people at usa
Embassy to please come on this forum on the discount issue because based on you (Lets call a spade most Nigerians are dishonest, fraudulent and crafty we get so angry when called out. )
And how can accepting discount be term dishonest and fraudulent but no single hospital giving this discount offer have been sanctioned or charge with improper conduct
The discount reason is just another way to denial visa and reduce nigerian giving birth
In usa ..because maybe next they will start to refuse visa based on your height and weigth))

Usa is a country of law and order but under what law or rule a person become a criminal for accepting discount using same medical visa ...mr consular over to u !

Sthill5:
Good morning guys

So I have a friend who is skeptical about applying because of her son who has down syndrome.

I wasn't sure what to tell her...is down syndrome a problem for the express entry program?

I hope this article from Sometime last year June 2018 about the amendment to the law on medical inadmissibility provisions. ,will help answer your question about down syndrome and your friend can apply with her son as disabilities is no longer a barrier in coming to Canada.

The government of Canada has announced significant changes to a policy that barred certain would-be immigrants on account of their intellectual or physical disabilities.
The revised policy is expected to result in a significant reduction in the number of refusal on account of disabilities. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) said the change is likely to “dispense with the majority of medical inadmissibility cases seen in Canada today.”

“The current provisions on medical inadmissibility are over 40 years old and are clearly not in line with Canadian values or our government’s vision of inclusion,” stated Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Ahmed Hussen, who cited a selection of cases whereby applicants had suffered the consequences of the regulations.

These case studies included a tenured professor at York University in Toronto who was denied permanent residence because his son had Down syndrome, and another case of a family that came to Canada and started a business, but were rejected because their child has epilepsy.
“These newcomers can contribute and are not a burden to Canada,” said Hussen. “These newcomers have the ability to help grow our economy and enrich our social fabric.”

According to IRCC, the new policy on medical inadmissibility strikes a balance between protecting publicly funded health and social services and updating the policy to bring it in line with current views on the inclusion of persons with disabilities. The changes include:

increasing the cost threshold for medical inadmissibility to three times the previous level; and
amending the definition of social services by removing references to special education, social and vocational rehabilitation services and personal support services.

Before this change, the cost threshold for a medical demand to be considered excessive was $6,655 CAD per year, or $33,275 over five years. With the threshold now increased three-fold, the revised threshold would be $19,965 per year.

Pls I would like to ask this... if I do this and transfer my POF to the new RBC account and I'm asked at the airport at the time of arrival for my POF what can I use to prove that it was transferred to Canada.

This is digital era in a modern world and you can explain about your new RBC account and also print along copy of your account showing the transfer to the new account if it has arrival or evidence the transfer was made that proof is perfect it not compulsory you carry large cash if you can make alternative arrangement to transfer the money.

Below statement from RBC website

It’s almost time! Here are some final details that will help make your move to Canada smoother.

Arrange for medical insurance.
Your provincial government-sponsored medical plan will not be active for the first 90 days you’re in Canada.
You may want to bring a six-month supply of medications. Brands may be different in Canada and prices could be more expensive if you're paying out-of-pocket. Be sure to review the list of items you are allowed to bring into Canada.
Order Canadian currency.
Plan for enough to cover out-of-pocket expenses when you arrive, before your bank account is activated.
Transfer funds to your Canadian banking account.
To enter Canada you may have to show you have the required funds to support your family. This is easier if the funds are in a Canadian banking account in your name.
Check the amount of money you will be bringing.
You must report it to Canada Border Services Agency if you are bringing in $10,000 CDN or more, whether it's in Canadian dollars (cash, cheques, etc...) or the equivalent in your country’s currency.

Pls guys Is it possible to open a Canadian bank account online and start moving ur pof into it? Of how else do u guys travel with ur pof?

Had the same issue and contact the Royal Bank of Canada and got this reply below

You can open your account before you arrive in Canada. In order to do so, you would simply need to submit your account application online
During the process you will be asked the question "Do you live in Canada"? Choose "No" as this will designate that you are currently a non-resident looking to open an account prior to your arrival.

Once you complete the application it will be sent to our International Banking Advisors who will follow up with you directly within 5 days to give you the information you need to have the account set up and be able to transfer funds to it before you arrive.

For more information on banking in Canada, please visit our Welcome to Canada page, at:

http://www.rbc.com/newcomers/

Wishing you all the best with your move to Canada!

Thanks for contacting us. We'll be happy to help you again if there's anything else you’d like to discuss.

Hi, your friend can receive and send your PR card to you through another person coming to Nigeria. That is how most people move it because though some people are able to courier it, customs agents sometimes remove PR cards from courier packages during screening. It's actually the property of the Canadian government and they don't want to hear 'stories that touch' should it fall into wrong hands smiley So to avoid this, just arrange for someone to bring it.

And sure, you can start applying for jobs while you await delivery of the PR card. Hope this helps, all the best.

Sir thanks for the info but ,are you very sure that people do this because somebody was telling l need apply PRTD (permanent resident travel document ) inside canada before going out canada and or outside canada before coming back please Clarify the exact information ..am confuse!!
