Career › Re: TO Survive In A Nigerian Workplace, My Story by Evergreen4(m): 9:13am On Dec 17, 2019 |
charles009: Hello Folks, it been a cold morning over here in canada, so after a cup of hot tea and some pieces of akara, I decided to share a story that could possibly help the young people questing endlessly for a job.
Sometime in February 2010, after countless submission of CVs and trekking virtually the entire Nigeria, I was lucky to meet a man who knows the MD of a certain multinational coy in lagos, an interview was scheduled, the first ever interview in my relatively young life. When I got home, I quickly shaved off my bears, and started reading up interview questions/salary negotiation lol. Person wey get zero job experience dey eye fat salary lol.
On the D day, I arrived to behold the most beautify edifice I ever walked into since my life, I had to countlessly remind myself that I was gonna nail this, I called over 10 pastors to pray for me. The ambience was extremely wow, I checked out the car pack, dress code of the employees, I knew I was in for something very big.
After a brief intro with the gorgeously looking big bum secretary, I was asked to move into a smaller office while I wait for the MD to call me, in fact I hurriedly balanced on the couch and asked a certain guy to give me some clean shots. If atall , make I see pic upload for facebook.
After like 30mins, a lady walked up to me and said, you are next. Again I quickly readjusted my okirika shirt and my faded black trousers and an icing of my aboki perf and quickly moved in. I met a graciously looking man, oh my God, I reiterated money good. On the corner i saw a TV, so this man actually saw me posing recklessly on his lobby, any ancentral demon/village people, die by fire. He asked a few questions and then he said. Wait more outside please.
Ladies and gentlemen, 10mins later, the lady worked up and gave me a letter that literally shaped my life forever, pls read through and let us know if you accept the terms she said. Nwanne, for the first time in my life, I erupted in wild joy, I couldn't control the joy, infact I wept profusely, pay was over 300k plus including others. I quickly signed off and asked if I could see the MD. She obliged, I walked in knelt down and thanked him, his only response to me , you need to get married immediately son.
I will stop here for now, wify just served rice and banga stew. mungo park , come and continue this story. Pls mention me when you continue. Thanks |

Ekeletu: Happy weekend my beautiful people. Please there's something bothering me and I think I should share it here. I will be very brief.
In 2012 I met a girl and we started dating. One year later, she cheated with a guy and got pregnant. Gave birth to a still child. Because of the love I had for her I forgave her and we continue dating.
In 2015 she cheated again and got pregnant for a guy and aborted it. I called her one day and told her that I can't continue with a cheating partner so we broke up.
After breaking up I became bitter towards women and vow never to be in a relationship again. During this time of breakup with my ex, we continue communicating and we were just friends. She got into a new relationship which she told me and she advice me to find a girl and love not to stay single and I told her I can't.
After a while we spoke and I asked her about her man she told me that she is with a new guy that the old one left. I asked her why he left she said there was no problem. they just decided to end it.
I added her ex on facebook and chated. I asked him why he broke up with his woman, if she cheated. He told me she didn't, that he has a serious relationship with his hometown girl and his parents want him to marry that his hometown girl, so instead of wasting this other girl's time he had to end it. He began telling me how good this girl was during their time together.
This my ex, since breakup we have been good friends. We seek for advice from one another and help. She is always coming to me for monetary assistance and when I have I do help. Sometime ago, I lend her 200k to setup a business and when I discovered that the business wasn't moving well I told her not to bother about refund.
Last month I when to visit my people so I branch her shop. Getting there I saw her using a phone and it seems the phone was giving her issues so last week I ordered 52k phone and send to her. She was very happy.
Three days ago she sent me a text that she want us to date again and she vowed she will never cheat again. I still like this girl but my mind is numb for a relationship. I told her I can't date again that even if I do, I won't love that person like I should.
She keeps on begging me. Today her message woke me up.
Now I don't know why she wants to return back. Is it the goodies she has been getting from me or is it love? I don't trust women again. bro you dey well oo, 52k phone for your ex? Abeg help me with 5k make I take see front na. Pls help a fellow brother like you. Thanks |

Court stops Ganduje from constituting Kano council of chiefs December 10, 2019Abubakar Ahmadu Maishanu Kano Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje Kano Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje (Photo Credit: Daily Advent) Related News Ganduje appoints Emir Sanusi as head, Kano Council of Chiefs ANALYSIS: How Ganduje’s ‘fight’ with Emir Sanusi alters Kano history UPDATED: Court restrains Ganduje from breaking up Kano Emirate Despite court order, Ganduje issues 'symbolic' appointment letters to new emirs Ganduje signs law creating new emirates in Kano A High Court in Kano on Tuesday granted an interim injunction to stop the Kano State Government from constituting the new council of chiefs and appointing its members. Governor Abdullahi Ganduje last week signed a new law in Kano approving the creation of four new emirates and the appointment of first-class emirs for each of them. The law also establishes the council of chiefs. PREMIUM TIMES reported how Mr Ganduje appointed the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi, as the head of the council of chiefs, while the four newly appointed emirs are members. The governor also ordered Mr Sanusi, who many believe the new law was aimed at whittling his powers, to call a meeting of the council. Before the new law, the emir of Kano was the only first-class emir in the state. An earlier similar law passed by the Kano parliament at the behest of Mr Ganduje was invalidated by the court. READ ALSO: GANDUJE APPOINTS EMIR SANUSI AS HEAD, KANO COUNCIL OF CHIEFS The new law was presented to the parliament and passed into law within three days last week. On Tuesday, however, the judge, Ahmed Badamosi, ordered a stoppage of the council of chiefs. He also granted an order restraining Mr Ganduje from taking away the functions and powers of the applicants. He then adjourned the case to December 17. The plaintiffs in the suit are Kano kingmakers headed by the Madakin Kano, Yusuf Nabahani, and Muktar Adnan. The defendants are the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly as the first respondent, Kano State House of Assembly as the second respondent, Governor of Kano State as third respondent, Attorney General of Kano State as fourth respondent and the four newly appointed emirs of Rano, Karaye, Gaya and Bichi. Efforts to speak to Abba Anwar, the media aide to Mr Ganduje, on the court order were not successful. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/nwest/367656-court-stops-ganduje-from-constituting-kano-council-of-chiefs.html |

Politics › Re: Top Ten Most Industrialised States In Nigeria. by Evergreen4(m): 8:00am On Dec 03, 2019 |
VicThory: Some of the rich Nigerian states have become main industrial centres in the country, boosting major sectors of the nigerian economy thereby putting the nation among the leading commercial countries in the map of the world.
Although, there are 36 states in the federation, we list out the top 10 major industrial zones in Nigeria that have many investment opportunities to boost the country economically.
#1. Lagos State Lagos stands out as the most economically and industrialized state in Nigeria with virtually all top companies having their headquarters there. You can find various industries in Lagos which contributed greatly to her internal generated revenue (IGR). The state is also leading in IT innovation and is the richest state in the country. According to an online report, the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos which was started during the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is an area were goods may be landed, handled, manufactured or reconfigured, and re-exported without the intervention of custom authorities. It is a region where a group of countries have agreed to reduce or eliminate trade barriers, the basic objective being to enhance foreign exchange earnings, develop export-oriented industries and generate employment opportunities for the host country.
#2. Ogun state Another industrialized centres in Nigeria is Ogun whose slogan is “Gateway to Nigeria”. Just like Lagos, you can find top manufacturing companies like Gee-pee tank, Apex paints ltd, Drury industries limited, etc. On the map of the country, you would notice that both Lagos and Ogun state are located in south-west Geo-political zone in Nigeria.
#3. Rivers state Rivers state is also one of the most industrialized states in the country. Located in the South- south region on the map, Rivers is an oil producing state with an IGR only bettered by Lagos. Its capital is Port-Harcourt which houses most of the major oil companies in the country like Shell, Total PLC, Chevron, Oando, etc. This shows that Rivers is a major stakeholder in the oil and gas industry in Nigeria. It is also on record that the due to the number of plants in the state, Rivers state remain the highest consumer of electricity in the country.
#4. Anambra state Anambra state is also a major industrial centre located in South-Eastern Nigeria. In fact, you will find the largest private indigenous oil refinery in the country in this state which is Orient Petroleum Refinery. Aside that, it is documented that Anambra state has one of the biggest oil and gas exploration areas in Nigeria with so many natural resources. Some of the mineral resources found in Anambra include: crude oil and natural gas, ceramic, bauxite, etc.
#5. Abia state Abia state is another South Eastern state in Nigeria with Aba as its industrial centre. When it comes to commerce and business in Igboland, you can count Aba among the top business cities to start a profitable venture in the country. Historically, Abia was created in 1991 and like Anambra above, oil and gas production industries can be found there. You can also find prominent industries in the South East in this state. Although, the agricultural sector in the state is what brings most of its Internally Generated Revenue as about 50% of its workforce are farmers, you would still see several industries like the cosmetics industry, footwear industry, cement industry, рharmaceutical industry and even textile industry.
#6. Oyo state Oyo state has one of the largest agricultural centers in the country that the first skyscraper to be built in Africa, i.e the Cocoa house is located in the state. Also the largest tobacco companies in the country, Flour Mill of Nigeria and Seven Up Bottling Company are some of the popular companies in Nigeria are all located in Oyo state.
#7. Kano state This is the most industrialized state in Northern Nigeria having over a hundred different industries within its territorial space. Some include: diary products, animal feed, vegetable oil, soft drinks, food, furniture, footwears, ceramics, рharmaceuticals, plastics, footwears, textiles, and cosmetics industries respectively. Even though the agricultural sector is booming in this state with abundance of cash crops, the popular industry in Kano is the tie and dye industry. The Kurmi Market which serves as the most popular market in Northern Nigeria is known for selling traditional artifacts such as ancient carvings, jewelries, calabashes, pottery products, etc. Some of the industries located in Kano state include: Royal Foam Products Ltd, Unifoam Group, Asada Plastic, Eva Rubber and Plastic Products Ltd, Jaykay Carpet Industries Ltd, Lakhi Textile Industries Ltd.
#8. Akwa Ibom state Akwa Ibom ranks as the highest oil and gas producing state in the country which is located in the coastal geographical region of southern Nigeria. For the records, the state has an airport and two major seaports. Carved out from Cross River State in 1987, the first Electric Metering Industry in Nigeria was launched in the state.
#9. Imo state Imo is an industrialized state in Nigera that is good for business. Owerri is its capital and can be seen as one of the hub of commercial activities in South Eastern Nigeria. With practically over 170 oil wells owned by the major players in the oil and gas industry such as Royal Dutch Shell, Chevron, Agip and Addax Petroleum, Imo state is a chief contributor to Nigeria’s economy. Massive investment opportunities exist in the state. Some include opportunities in oil and gas exploration, chemical plants, hydroelectric plants, brewery plants, gas-fired power plants, starch production, grain mills, cashews, juice concentrate production, fruit and vegetable, integrated multi-oil seed processing plants, Inland Waterway Transport, ceramics, and Integrated Palm Produce Industry. Due to the federal presence Imo state enjoys, the FG recently launched the rice and cassava industry to boost the agricultural sector as it started developing two rice plants, one cassava processing plant and one palm oil plant in Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State.
#10. Osun state Osun state is also on the list of major industrial zones in Nigeria that has business potential that can boost the country’s economy. Vegetation thrives in this area as the agricultural sector thrives better in Osun. The state is highly industrialized with companies like the Criss Cross Integrated Services, Samtop Paint Chemical Industries, Webring Integrated Services Limited, etc. The presence of the Cocoa processing Industry, which produces over 19,000 tonnes of cocoa daily has helped curb unemployment in the country. We believe that if the federal government imports the right equipment backed with the right management of this industry, an increase in production should be made possible in the shortest possible time. |

There are laws that criminalize hate speech already as enshrined in the constitution. These are laws against libel ,slander and defamation. If they can't prescribe death penalty for corrupt office holders because they feel that a law already exist covering that , then there is no need for the hate speech bill because laws against libel and slander already exist too .
