Hmmm, na wa oooo, I also applied for d job n got same text asking me to pay the sum of 1,500 naira into a GTB account. Dat was wen I new it was a scam.I jst dey laff dem.

If your choice falls into such category; you need those skills good enough to meet ends so read on. Do not wait till you loose any wonderful opportunity, plan ahead and add value to yourself. Knowledge is not a waste in amy sphere of life just awaits such time to harness it; it will come handy.

What to improve on becomes an issue especially if you think there is none left or they are too much to narrow down. Alongside the weekly adverts on job offers stood the dilemma of who-to-employ even amongst the very qualified. If it is not possible to employ all the first class graduate, what is the chance for second class upper, lower not to say pass graduate? As much as the labour market is congested yet more graduate keep flooding it, then employers began another filtering mechanism using the age bracket discrimination. The chances for 5% of job seeker to be gainfully employed on the average is impracticable to calculate, under-employment is the order of the day if you are lucky.

The way out is getting skilled training either formally or informally; it gives you a two-in-one benefits. You have higher priority of been preferred in "job battle" and also make good living if you choose starting up as an entrepreneur or micropreneur.

just to add a few cents

If it is possible and if permitted, it is preferable that you save your cv in pdf format. The reason why sometimes candidates dont get a response is that, your well prepared cv could appear messed up on the other side because of Microsoft office compatibility, fonts etc (some PCs dont have the font used for the cv and so will either distort the cv or wont open at all). While I agree that the standard presentation of a cv should be in Arial or Times New Roman, sometimes, some other fonts make could make your cv appear better and cleaner. That was when I changed my approach. When I used pdf, the CV will appear EXACTLY to the recruiter the way I prepared it.

Secondly, since last year, I have decided that my cv will never exceed 1 page. It took me weeks to summarize everything about myself to be able to fit into a single page. There are too many cvs to peruse, so what are the chances that the recruiter will scroll down. I decided to help them simplify their jobs. However, your 1 page CV MUST be ON POINT - neatly laid out, not cramped, and must give a concise summary of you background and your experience. Remember whatever you write must be relevant to the NEED of the recruiter.

What I shared above actually did improve the responses I have gotten since I decided to.
Remember, finding a job is a job in itself.

assalaamat: You're definately expected to send both ur cv and a cover letter whether they ask for it or not,it's a letter that indicates your interest in a job and it must not contain your address,u'll only start with sir/madam on the top left- hand corner,followed by the body and normal letter conclusion,do not write any heading i.e "Application For the Post of........",these are the differences b/w a cover letter and an application letter.They must definately be sent via attachment,and the position you are applying for will be the subject of ur mail.mind u,you're expected to wait at least 1week after the expiration of the job advert,except in the case of bank's&oil company's jobs,which could take at least 3-4weeks before u're contacted.I hope this helps,Good luck bro.
