When a President looses the majority in a house of parliament is he referred to as LAME DUCK PRESIDENT. Its just a matter of time before he looses the Senate then some of those Northern States (Katsina, Nassarawa, Bauchi & co) will pull out of PDP for fear of loosing in the general election lets see if its old man Jang & Pa Elechi, sick Chime & Imoke, Daft Orji & Uduaghan, political nwatakiri Obiano, loud mouthed & not so clever Akpabio and inconsequential Dickson that will deliver him in the next election.

Car TalkRe: Why Do Nigerians Prefer To Buy Used Car Rather Than Buying A New Car? by EveryLadY(f): 3:49pm On Dec 18, 2013
the responses so far goes a long way in showing the bunch of Nigerian mentality towards 2nd hand goods. Why is our country a dumping ground for mechanical /electronic and textile waste? simply because we do not have any more value for our dignity. Our new born babies are welcome to the world with 2nd hand clothes and some people tell me it lasts longer. what a thinf? huhAm an anti second hand wear of all type,be it car/cloth/electronics.... we can reshape our future with a change of our mind set.am sure some other Ngerians share same sentiment, no matter how small the percentage it must surely increase.

mctolspell: It amazes me that y'all commenting can't decipher on what he was saying ...." He was referring to the huge ready made market to invest in Event management, textile industry amongst others to make money as a youth". Truth is,let government provide everything for youth to be self employed, most of our youth will still be roaming the street. Uneducated lots. Smh
That is why I said we are champions when it comes to frivolities. We fail always to see the point being made in a write up.we only see the story and typify it as our discussion.

Take for instance,a school teacher sent a student to go outside the school compound for an errand, the student got accident and died. Nigerians will fail to see the course as bad roads/drivers recklessness or students carelessness and capitalize on the teacher and the school as the course.the same road which the student passes thru. to go home. I just weep for us.

BusinessRe: Staff In Nairalander's UBA Account-Issue Sacked! by EveryLadY(f): 4:47pm On Sep 16, 2013
Egba girl: I am not familiar with the story but form what the OP wrote, it seems the customer only came to Nairaland to vent their frustration and not demand that the staff be sacked. It is rather unfortunate that it got to the attention of management. I don't think the customer is to blame for expressing their opinion on something of that nature. It's the same as giving reviews about a product/service (which I think many people find useful).

Now as per the punishment, maybe management should have suspended him/her or whatever but in no way should a customer be blamed for the shortcomings of an employee. It's all about the customer in the business world. Without them, you have no business. Gotta stay on top of your game. It's about time people took customer service in Nigeria seriously!
tanx soo much for giving clarity to some of our peep.meanwhile nothing in this post suggested the staff has not been warned b4.we all know how these things works.

chosen04: *****shakes head****

This is truly disgusting! Its appalling that same people who cant do anything when the political leaders are stealing the country blind can go at any length to have their fellow ladder-trying-to-climb citizens sacked! Its truly a curse to remain at the ladder bottom with some peeps

What has happened to forgiveness as recommended by our saviour?

Sacked staff! its all your fault! if not, you should have stolen from the bank and climbed far beyond the bottom of the ladder, if that was the case, there is no way this your fellow bottom laddered friends, sorry enemies would have got you sacked.

*****And they develop cold feet when politicians are involved*****
are u in any way suggesting that the ineptitude of the staff be condoned? Rules are meant to be obeyed and strictly adhered to. Sentiments does not have much place in a well groomed organization please. this is what is killing Nigerian businesses.
And what has banks got to do with politicians? there are structures put in place in all organizations to check mate errant practices, and banks are not one of those structures for political office holders please.
BusinessRe: Staff In Nairalander's UBA Account-Issue Sacked! by EveryLadY(f): 4:29pm On Sep 16, 2013
ukcars: There is nothing interesting in someone being sacked
Why do Nigerians have this special gift of leaving the main point in an issue and going for frivolities? We are experts when it comes to majoring in minors. What this whole issue is about is incompetence on the side of the said UBA staff. Now all of us gave our voice in condemnation against his/her action/in-action. Now that penalty measure is served,we are still shouting foul play. Why this terrible disconnect in our way of reasoning?
Foreign AffairsRe: Mother Preserves Her Dead Son's Body In Alcohol For 18 Years by EveryLadY(f): 11:24am On Sep 11, 2013
$ugardaddy:
Who the hell is talking of "mother's love" here? This is insane and purely diabolic.

Something similar happened recently when a man locked up the corpse of his purpotedly missing mother in his wardrobe for 10yrs and we all concluded he was responsible for the death of his late mother.

You need to convince me this woman didn't kill this boy for ritual purposes as well. Or is it because it happened in Europe?
Exactly my tot. Whoever is talking of love here must be on the same sanity frequency with this woman.

NLanders!!! Una no go kill me ooo!!! I asked for advice, instead of giving me, most of you have turned against me grin grin grin grin

Anyway sha, I appreciate all your comments, I actually made up my mind after that last post from debosky where maturity was advised as it was a family matter.

As a mark of respect for my wife, I will ignore and move on as advised by the majority of posters here. I have also picked up opinions as being proud, vengeful and egoistic or egocentric from a couple of posters. Surprisingly, those are vices I hate most in individuals no matter how highly placed -I will deal with them as well and come out a better person thereafter grin grin grin.

I will place a call to my BIL as advised and move on thereafter irrespective of whatever response I get from him. It may not be now but I certainly will do someday and I may not have to share that on this thread again.

I must say that all your comments have pushed that inner "deal with him" urge away now grin and I can feel it finally getting out of my system for good grin grin grin.

May God bless you all smiley smiley smiley.
We are ur Landers family.love us or hate us,we are here for u.

NB:inform the moderator to close the thread for u since u got the advice u sought after.

$ugardaddy:
Ok, for the benefit of those of you who equate "deal with" to mean physical harm or injury to someone, let me explain what I mean by "deal with" :-

1. I will not call you for any reason whatsover.
2. I will ensure I don't participate in any event that will bring both of us physically together
3. I will ensure my children do not visit or have any interaction with you or your immediate family
4. etc, etc, etc

They are boycott actions and not physical harm as being misinterpreted here. Besides, they may take years to realize grin grin grin.
u sound so much like one of my BIL. On his part,he is not dealing with anybody o,yet he has practically fulfilled all u mentioned with some of us. Simply because we will not toe his line career wise. Sooo egoistic, behaving as if he is a demi-god. Thread softly my brother if u have respect for ur wify feelings. my opinion any way.
U are only sure of ur actions, the reaction it will generate is beyond u. Lets try and keep the sanctity of our families. This is our core value. Find ways of bonding not tearing.
Foreign AffairsRe: 8-year-old Yemeni Bride Dies From Internal Bleeding On Wedding Night by EveryLadY(f): 2:20pm On Sep 09, 2013
Quite a number of us agreed this is barbaric. But often times we see the same people condemning this supporting rape on the basis of seduction. For me its the same uncontrolled/animalistic urge that pushes for rape that spurs for child bride albeit their slowpoke brain tells them they are pursuing it legally.

when sane men begin to speak against this ill in our society and stop leaving the fight for women who technically has less enforcement, then we are on the track to the end of this heinous act.

Orikinla: I have sat down on the floor with an Imam in his house to share the Good News with him and we never quarreled.
And I have dined with a "Christian" brother who later raped an innocent sister.
I have worked with both "Christians" and Muslims and the Muslims were more honest and humane.
Majority of those claiming to be "Christians" in Nigeria don't have the Holy Spirit and without the Holy Spirit, you are powerless.
that's exactly the point. A lot of us in this country claim to be Christians simply because we were born into a particular denomination or members of a particular church or we are neither pagan nor moslem. The fact is that membership of a church does never make a christian. Even in the best church, only those who are Christians by actions and deeds are truly Gods'

Nothing lasts forever. She will heal.
I had a psychological problems too during my own time and was aversive to men. I will give all manner of reason not to consider a man's proposal. I was running from d inevitable but I cried to God one day that I need help.
When hubby came my way, even though that other part of me was saying no,I just couldn't help but fall for him cos he was very understanding of d situation on ground.

She should pls accept d fact that everything is not ok.(I'm going this deep cos u said she will read this)
Its not her fault that she experienced tragedy(part of life). I can't even start with my own shares of them.
Has she ever let it out or she just bottled the whole thing up? Can she cry, throw something, yell? By all means she should indulge herself whenever d feeling is too strong for her(part of healin process)
Is she a christian? Jer29:11 should be always on her lips( positive confession).this will make her start thinkin differently about life generally.
When her man comes around, he will break d remaing barrier if there is any. But she has to be open to d guy.

I so much feel for her. Pls dear, God will bring a man that will make u feel lv again and believe u me, u will not feel d past again.
I wish u well dear,I hope and pray u share ur testimony with us.

Poster,u guys should not pressurize her.let her heal from within.
As for d randy uncle, pls try and forgive him so u can heal properly.

PoliticsRe: Custom Officers & Smugglers Fighting At Seme Border? by EveryLadY(f): 9:47am On Aug 30, 2013
bibigirl07: This is indeed gruesome. The deceased officer's wife is a friend and I mourn with her. Everyone knows Seme is not safe, security wise, but this so called "reprisal killing" is uncalled for. Custom officers on that route work tirelessly day and night in a bid to prevent this demonic agents and smugglers from importing all sorts into our country. Yet some NLs here are so ignorant. Do u know how many trailer-loads of contaminated rice and infected turkey this officers impound daily and burnhuh Do u know how many families would have died by eating such poisonous food? Smugglers are ready to bring in weapons, bombs and other unsafe instruments thru this same seme border yet, all sorts of people are busy name calling this our Officers. My dear Sister/friend...I mourn with you, the last time I saw you and now late husband, he was dropping you off @d roundabout. May His Soul rest in perfect peace...Amen. To his now Fatherless children..Take heart, Vengeance is of the Lord. He will keep you and make sure you succeed in life. Amen. *sobs*
The unsafe instrument here is cars and not edibles. Talking about weapons, was it thru seme border the Iranian container load of arms entered this country last two years?
See,in as much as we agree customs are working, they are way too greedy. Why kill a man simply because of disagreement.what happened to the legal route?Dont defend Nigeria customs simply u because u knew this victim pls.

the kids must be effected overtly or covertly. Things will never be same for them again.
FamilyRe: Your Thoughts by EveryLadY(f): 11:56am On Aug 29, 2013
chayooh: Thanks for the responses but there was no agreed formula for sharing responsibilities. Obviously the man is supposed to take most of the responsibility for the expenditure in the home but where he feels he can use "his money" the way he likes and there are children involved what is the woman supposed to do? Sit back and watch the children starve?

About the other issue of who comes first, is a husband supposed to give top priority to his siblings above his family especially when those siblings are all graduates and are fit to take up paid employment?

Imagine a scenario where a man's unmarried elder bro borrows most things from his married younger bro's house and the wife must not make any input? undecided
Just like in another thread in family section this morning, the first mistake was lack of planning. When u folk were preparing for ur marriage ceremony,u never prepared nor plan for ur marriage.sitting down to plan what will our family look like?what values are we to uphold? What should be our family's priority when more needs are gunning for our limited resources. Assumption deos never help in homes. It's never too late.U can still sit down with hubby to plan about these things.Only u will need enough dose of wisdom and patient this time around. good luck.
FamilyRe: You can overcome DEPRESSION (DOWN CAST) by EveryLadY(f): 11:01am On Aug 29, 2013
debrief08: Lol, I do that don't I?
Sadly, we groomed a form of worship where personal responsibility is removed from the individual which is in reality far from what religion really advocates, the issue is not really religion but how it has been twisted.

Like you said ignorance and lack of awareness plays a great part because if we actually take time to study our religious books ourselves as God directed we wouldn't be in such a mess.

True religion is beautiful, wonderful, teaches responsibility, social relationships ( Ist John 4, Hebrews 12, Romans 12), respect, love, charity and peace ( Matthews 25 31-46, Matthew 5 44_45, .attew 5 1- the end, 1st Corinthains 13, Ephesians chapter 5-6, Hebrews 12 5- 13). It also emphaisises discipline.
The version of religion we do here preaches hate, anger, greed, coverteousness, over dependence, lack of responsibility, fear, violence (die by fire), and so much emphasis on miracles not hard work.
That is my problem and not spirituality itself.
in my place of worship yesterday at around 7.45pm local time,I heard from the pulpit that Abraham is a tireless and productive worker. That if u are not productive in ur work, then u are not walking in the steps of Abraham . The point am trying to make is that in the same Nigeria we are blaming religion for our irresponsible, good work ethics is been preached. I may not know what informed ur opinion but I know that every man is what he wants to become.Choice is what nobody can make on ur behalf.Religion is not our problem but our choices are.

greatgod2012: she has all these problems, especially, being molested by uncles and here you are asking why shes afraid to love or marry anyone, the problem is that, she will believe all men are the same. She is suffering from the fear of the past and fear of the future. She need to see a psychologist/a certified marriage counsellor as soon as possible. It is not her fault at all. For now, if she is based in Nigeria, Funmi Akingbade is who comes to my mind. But tell her to not allow what happened in the past to ruin her future joy. It is well with her and may God give her the healing she really need.
Amen to that prayer.thanks a lot @ . I pray she gives in to aunty Funmi's suggestion soonest.
