Opharhe: Abeg speak the dialect wey you like, provided the other person can understand. No language is upside down. Ughievwen and Udu is melodious and speakers use a lot of idioms and proverbs.
My Dad is from Ughelli and Ughievwen while my Mum is Ughievwen on both sides. I learnt Urhobo through my Mum's people hence Ughievwen became my first language. I can easily speak Ughelli too but Ughievwen just too sweet, I only speak Ughelli if I see you're not too grounded in Urhobo to flow with Ughievwen.
If you Sabi Ughievwen, you easily know other dialects because the dialect is kindda deep.
Don't be discouraged Ivwioni vwe Omote(my sister). Nice to meet you. Doh! My Mum is an Uwheru but she doesn't speak Uwheru and she barely understand the language but if na Olomu she dy chop am well. Olomu sound like music too but not as Udu/Ughievwen. Even when I was in school Na Udu/ Ughievwen I dy speak give My friends unless I want to talk to Bayelsa Urhobo people that's when I speak general Urhobo to their understanding . |

Opharhe: I'm a native speaker of Ughievwen(and Udu) . I speak Ughelli too. Each time I want to reply my mum in Urhobo , I will speak Udu/Ughievwen Urhobo for her and she will ask me are u from there? and I will answer her back I just love the language that's Y i speak it. My mum doesn't want me to speak Udu/ Ughievwen for her , she said the language is an upside down language and that language is the reason why I speak Urhobo nothing else. |

darlenese: When I was younger I usually describe the Udu language as "fried Urhobo" Guess what ! As an adult I still think so.
As for the Okpe language , I think its unique , because if u can understand okpe, u will be able to interprete urhobo and isoko wella, unfortunately , those who understand urhobo or Isoko can't interprete a thing in Okpe !
#Okpe Agbameni!!! Don't go there o, I love Udu and Ughievwen Urhobo very much. |

Irunmole: @Efewestern, the best way to a learn a language, especially your mother tongue, Uvwie (Urhobo)is to make a conscious effort at speaking, listening to and interacting with speakers of the language both young and old. With time, you'll become proficient and adept at speaking it to the extent that you'll probably be spicing up your words and sentences with proverbs and idioms learnt from seasoned speakers of Uvwie. The first step is always the most difficult but courageous one to take. Osonobrugwe dabo fio keye! Na uvwie u just speak just now? |

your own case go hard o which UPU? The people that are after their pocket , not the interest of any Urhobo person. Take for example the Urhobo cultural centre in Agbarho, is that one a house or where they used to train pig? After billions of naira spend on it nothing to show for it. |

fratermathy: I've met many people from central Orogun that blast Urhobo very well.
My former lecturer at DELSU, Dr. Awhefeada, is an Orogun man and he speaks Urhobo very well.
Sally Young, the famous Urhobo musician, is fro Orogun.
Although, there are some Orogun villages close to Amai and Abbi, like Agbarha-Orogun and Ukwuani is dominant there. is few of them. |

fratermathy: You are very correct! Ughelli villages still speak Urhobo. However, Ughelli main town has been compromised as well. Although not yet as bad as Warri and Sapele.
Areas like Orogun, Agbarha, Ughievwen, Olomu, Evwreni, Uwherun and nearby areas can be relied upon for now. Orogun people that speak Ukwuani as their first language? Uvwheru that their Urhobo look like foreign language to my ear, even my mum that comes from there barely understand the language but she don't know how to Speak it, I prefer Olomu Urhobo cus is closer to Agbarho Urhobo which is the general Urhobo. |
