Lol. OP is a joker. LAUTECH TH's ambulance is almost always in Ilorin coz they bring cases they handle (either they don't have specialists for such cases or coz of inadequate equipments) to unilorin TH. As far as I'm concerned, UITH is one of the best THs in West Africa...They perform laser surgeries (the only in Nigeria as of sm months ago), have at least a prof in almost all clinical subspecialties (up to 7 in internal medicine and 8 in paediatrics..even hv profs in depts like ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, plastic surgery, neurosurgery etc where consultants are rare) Well, the writer of d article is a blogger and Nigerian bloggers are known for no research at all, so their lists are usually neither credible nor sensible. |
delishpot:Did he tell you he is a dr? Nd even if he is one, u should recognize a joke wen u see one |
amokeme:Nahhh. U stay in ilorin? |
Boys are not smiling. They are eagerly looking for holes to dig and loaves to squeeze ![]() God bless your hustles niccurs, never forget your rubbers too.. |
Niseamaka:Yes, that's true and that's why I was for proper verification (which has been done)... |
MizMyColi:God bless you. |
CHESTER48:You are not a doctor, so just stfu. You can be a 200 level student in one of those sub standard med schools in ukraine where Nigerian med students go when they fail here, but nobody still cares. You show no ethics, decorum or knowledge of a doctor. I've read all your posts on this thread and you've been very unreasonable. ..And yes, a patient with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (frm d histology report) if u ever know what that means, can hv nose bleeds which wont 'lead to death'. Dont even know why I'm dignifying you with a reply. There's a greater chance the guy is very genuine, let proper verification be done all the same. Mods pls ban this chester48 guy, he's a psychotic on the loose and has violated almost all nairaland rules. |

jamex93:But the chairman of INEC has said he's under pressure to postpone the elections. That's coersion, and it's not an element of independence. |
dunkem21:INEC never said its not ready for the elections. And don't lump me with you online political thugs because if I'm in any camp, the other camp will be in disarray by now. |
TechRev:Let them declare public holidays on thurs nd friday for mass collection of PVCs if that's the problem. They never said that's the problem though. |
Further questions the military should answer; What's the guarantee they'll win this battle (they've been unable to win for years) in 6 weeks? If the 6 weeks operation is not successful, what's going to happen to the elections? |
Fellow Nairalanders, postponement of the elections is part of a grand plot by GEJ and his cohorts to hold unto power indefinitely, and this is how. First, they will claim they want to do a special operation in the North East for a particular span of time (which they've put at 6 weeks presently). After this 6 weeks, they'll record a degree of success but the insurgency will still be on. They will then demand for another time and say they can't provide adequate security for elections if they've not finished their operation. Ultimately, they'll state that they can't provide security for elections with because of their North Eastern operations which translates to ELECTION WONT HOLD UNTIL BOKO HARAM IS TOTALLY CRUSHED. And we all know that's not any time soon. This line of action will definitely cause unrest as many will see it as a breech of Nigeria's democratic institution. Finally, in as much as I have nothing against the military providing internal security during elections, I think internal security is the duty of the police, sss, civil defense etc and these people can go on with their duty if our military insist they all want to go to sambisa forest. Thank you for reading. |
Lol. JOHESU just punished Nigerians for no justifiable reason. They dropped their tools, locked hospital equipment like its their personal possession, hid keys to various places in the hospitals and even went as far as assaulting innocent sick patients and doctors to the extent of tear gassing preterm babies, an asthmatic doc and other patients. This people are wicked, thuggish and no different from the almajiris causing unrest in the north. Kudos to the graduate nurses who dissociated and distanced themselves from such people. God bless them. |

jacabi:This is really shameful and disgusting. Why should the health workers harass doctors doing their work and sick patients receiving treatment? Are these meant to be our supposedly enlightened pharmacists, nurses and all? |
In a bizarre act of aggression, members of the Joint Health Staff Union (JOHESU) were at the weekend alleged to have stormed the premises of Gwarinpa General Hospital, Abuja, to unleash terror on any visible personnel, especially doctors on duty. They were also said to have vandalised property. The President of the Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, Dr. Isaac Akerele, who narrated the incident, said it was an act of “sheer luck for many doctors who were on duty to have escaped the onslaught”. Members of the JOHESU comprising nurses, pharmacists, laboratory scientists, physiotherapists and non-health workers had since November, 2014, been on strike in protest against government refusal to meet their demands. Akerele, however, expressed sadness that a very senior doctor was unlucky and she was terribly manhandled. He said the attackers broke down all the entrance to the main block including the laboratory and later shot canister of tear gas that triggered severe respiratory distress that necessitated intensive care resuscitation. Although the reason for JOHESU action was not stated, he noted, it was apparent that they were angered by the fact that Doctors had been successfully attending to patients even with JOHESU on strike. Akerele described the action of the health workers as a barbaric, totally condemnable, unacceptable and a fatal error. He said his association was reliably informed that the group was led by one Shuaib Onucheyo, a Laboratory Technician with Nyanya General Hospital, who was believed to belong to the militant wing of JOHESU, carrying out this attack on hospitals and doctors. He said: “This group came to the Gwarimpa General Hospital with all manners of weapons, including firearms that was used to shoot tear gas canisters into the hospital. “This attack left many, including patients injured, with some in critical conditions at the intensive care unit especially a very senior colleague who was attending to preterm babies at the time of this attack. “We are calling on all authorities especially the Inspector General of Police (IG) to urgently investigate the sources of the weapons used. We equally call on the FCT Administration (FCTA) to investigate and apply public service rules to protect our members on call.” “To this effect, a letter has been sent to the FCT authorities. In this regard, I have directed our lawyers to institute a legal action against these persons and the body they represent for damages. “ As law abiding professionals, we do not want to take laws into or hands but we are sending strong warnings to any groups or persons or associations to stop harassing our members. To be forewarned is to be forearmed,” he cautioned. In a related development, Akerele expressed the association’s appeal to politicians to invest in the health sector, as they campaign for next month’s general election. He said the provision of excellent health infrastructure and better investment should be a priority to the politicians. Meanwhile, the leadership of JOHESU in the country has been urged to end the nation-wide strike entering three months now for the sake of the suffering masses. The Chief Medical Director (CMD), University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) , Prof. Etete Peters, at a chat with journalists in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, weekend said it was unprofessional for the health workers to be on such a prolong strike. The federal government, he said, was not adamant over the position of the health workers as government had engaged the labour leaders in series of constructive negotiations towards resolving the lingering contentious issues. Prof. Peters noted that the federal government has agreed to address the grey and contentious grievances of the workers, especially those bordering on payment of arrears of allowances, clinical governance and professionalism. “We strongly feel that it is quite important to take another look at the scenario in view of the suffering and hardship the strike is causing the masses,” he stressed. According to him, government has agreed to settle the main outstanding issues bordering on the payment of arrears of their allowances following Court judgment obtained about two years ago. The money for the payment of that allowance, he said, had been captured in the 2015 appropriation now pending before the National Assembly for passage into law. Equally, he said a high-powered committee set up by President Goodluck Jonathan on inter- professional relationship in the public health sector has submitted its report. “The report of the committee has been submitted to Mr. President and the white-paper committee set up, we expect that the white paper should come up in the next few days. “The report of that committee has summarily dealt with all the issues of various conflicts in term of professional practice within the health sector. “It is expected that when the white paper is issued, each professional will know their role or level of work within the system,” he said http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/health-workers-attack-doctors-on-duty-in-abuja/200171/ |
porka:Loool. Stop embarrassing yourself. He earned his PhD together with his MRCP (wch is the first half of fellowship) and he wanted the PhD bcz of his own interest in particular researches. His second doctorate is honorary. Everything here still points to the fact that that a fellowship in the medical field is superior to a PhD. That's Dr Sony Kuku's profile in American College of Physician's website. http://www.acponline.org/about_acp/international/graduates/practicing_in_us/kuku.htm ...To add with, when a fellow of a medical PG college is appointed a lecturer in a university, he starts from the level of (PhD + 2 years research experience). This is enough enlightenment for anybody. QED. |
Too many lies and displays of ignorance on this thread. A serious problem in Nigeria is with people trying to play experts about what they know little to nothing about. It's really sad. I'm outta here. |
Anticabal:Loool. You've proven your ignorance beyond reasonable doubts, and you're so not ready to learn. Try to do a lil research before commenting in a public forum. Postgraduate studies in clinical sciences is usually by residency which takes 5 to 12 years depending on what one wants to do. The training is full time in every respect, and thesis and dissertation is done. THE INDIVIDUAL MUST ALSO ADD RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE TO THE FIELD before being awarded a fellowship status which has been(from time immemorial) and will always be SUPERIOR TO A PHD IN EVERY RESPECT. |
Anticabal:You're obviously ignorant. Calling a fellowship diploma? No wonder the standard of education in Nigeria is in its trough. FYI, a fellow in a medical field e.g paediatrics can supervise a PhD student in paediatrics but a PhD holder can't supervise someone doing dissertation or thesis for fellowship. Fellowship is far far superior to a PhD. |

What's with all these teenage exuberance on nairaland..? |

I just wonder why enlightened people like pharmacists and nurses will go so low to form a union with hospital cleaners, technicians etc just to form a large number to fight doctors . This envy and show is a shameful one. (I learnt nurses that hv university degrees are not part of them tho) |
I don't support Saraki but it's stupid to say he did nothing when he did alot in Kwara state. I frequent Ilorin nd know whatsup... It's the present governor that's doing nuffin other than making noise. |
